Illustrator CC doesn´t embed fonts

Hi,
Im having issues when saving as .eps. Illustrator CC doesnt embed the fonts so when I print (I work with large format printing) all the type is messed up. No issues with CS6 on this matter.
Also saving as Illustrator 8 doesnt work either. Other applications I use for cutting vinyl and so on only crashes. The EXACT same file exported via CS6 with the same setting works perfectly.
CC is USELESS for me at the moment!

Oh, but just look at all the cool new features.

  • [CS3] [os X] Package doesn't embed fonts of linked files

    Hi,
    Does any have a solution for this problem:
    Create a package of document containing a native illustrator file, doesn't collect the fonts of the illustrator file in the package.
    Creating a package of a document containing a EPS-file, saved from Illustrator and using the option "don't include fonts", collects all the fonts of the illustrator file...
    Does anyone have a solution for this problem ?
    Using an external application for collection the fonts does the trick but I would like to do this from within Indesign...
    Thanx

    I was under the impression that unrestricted fonts would be embedded in a CS3 .ai file, and that you could specify that for .ai or .eps in early versions that didn't do it automatically, making it unnecessary to package them (licensing issues aside). Restricted fonts wouldn't be included in a package in any case, so...

  • Embed fonts on classic TextField doesn't work, even with TextFormat applied

    Hi.
    I created an Item that extends MovieClip and that has a TextField on it where it where it will display the item's name. I want to embed the font but I'm having trouble because the text won't display.
    I read the embedFonts description (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/text/TextField.ht ml#embedFonts) and I have formatted the TextField via a TextFormat instance with my chosen font.
    My code:
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
        import flash.text.AntiAliasType;
        import flash.text.TextField;
        import flash.text.TextFieldAutoSize;
        import flash.text.TextFormat;
        public class Item extends MovieClip {
            private var _sName:String = "";
            private var _txtName:TextField = new TextField();
            private var _nColor:uint = 0xAACC00;
            private var _tfText:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
            public function Item(s:String) {
                //also tried embedding here but got the same result
                _txtName.text = s;
                _txtName.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.RIGHT;
                _tfText.font = "Helvetica";
                _tfText.size = 30;
                _tfText.color = _nColor;
                _txtName.setTextFormat(_tfText);
                _txtName.antiAliasType = AntiAliasType.ADVANCED;
                _txtName.embedFonts = true;
                addChild(_txtName);
    If I remove the embed part the text shows correctly. I'm at a loss, what order of elements do I need to use to embed the font correctly?
    Thank you.

    To use the embedFonts property you would have to use an actual embedded font. The way you have it coded it is using system fonts.
    I did a quick Google Search and this seems to explain how to embed fonts in AS3 quite well:

  • Completely Embed Font (not Subset) in PDF several methods not working

    Hi,
    I have an Illustrator CS5 file, on a Windows 7 PC.
    I have used "Save As" direclty from Illustrator, also "Print" with Distiller and finally the Acrobat Pro 9 "Preflight" "Fixups" to Embed Fonts.
    This has included setting subsetting to 0% and in the "Print" dialogue when using the Distiller method, changing the font dropdown to "Complete".
    I do not want to convert my font to outlines, because of the changes this causes. I do not want to subset - but completely embed the fonts.
    This is driving me insane, and I really would appreicate any suggesstions. Please help!

    Thank you for your excellent posts. I am saving your posts for future reference.
    I e-mailed the printer and got this reply:
    "A 100% font embedding is actually not possible in most InDesign versions and in fact Adobe’s product never do it. It is really a bug from Adobe and it doesn’t work! Subsetting is therefore also perfectly fine and doesn’t pose a problem at all for printing."
    I think the instructions from their website are rubbish. They seem to do this to cover their own backs / make statements that aren't true just to keep everything simple, so that truly idotic people can still create PDFs to send to them for printing. Whenever I e-mail them, I get intelligent replies, that usually contradict the rubbish on their website.
    They accept PDF-2008, so their workflow can't be that old, I guess. (I'm a designer, I just know the minimum required about print technicalities!)
    Our previous printer wanted everything in PDF-X1a, and subsetted fonts, and they had no certifications of any kind, yet we always got good results from them.
    onlineprinters.com say this about their certifications: http://www.onlineprinters.com/Certified-quality.htm?websale7=diedruckerei;02-aa&tpl=02-aa/ $ws-cms/uu_certicied_quality.html&type=zertifizierte_qualitaet_hnavi_b
    and they say they have the latest gear from Heidelberg and KBA:
    http://www.onlineprinters.com/uu_offset_printing.htm?websale7=diedruckerei;02-aa&tpl=02-aa /$ws-cms/uu_offset_printing.html
    and have 40,000m2 of production space. I think they know what they're doing, but whoever writes the website should be fired!

  • Embed fonts not available error (But they are available sysetm fonts)

    Hello!
    I tried to search and actually did found some answers regarding font problems, but they did not help. So I am explaining here my problem in hope that someone can help me.
    My company bought a HP Xeon X3450 @ 2.8Ghz. @Gb RAM DD3 1333 with Windows 7 64-Bits version Professional.
    We installed Adobe CS3 Suite on Windows 7 64-Bits version and the problems with fonts started.
    We used to work with XP Professional before this new machine arrived and never had system fonts propblems with Adobe CS3 Suite.
    Basically, what happens is:
    When I try to open PDF files with embed fonts (system fonts susch as ARIAL for example) the program returns an error saying that the fonts are not installed/available, but checking the C:\windows\fonts, they are there and working fine on Office or other common application such as notepad for example.
    I tried the workaround I found on these very forums of copying the fonts to the folder C:\Program Fils\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts and it still does not work.
    Formated the HD and then installed Windows 7 32 bits (x86) and still have the same problems. All updates were made and applied to Adobe and Windows respectively for both 64 and 32 versions and the error still happens.
    In resume, fonts are installed, they are system fonts but under Windows 7 64 or 32 bits versions they simply do not work when opening the PDF files with embed fonts.
    -The PDFs had no problems before while running windows XP Professional.
    -The PDFs open whithout any problems on machines with Windows Xp Professional.
    -This is happening specifically in Adobe Illustrator CS3 and CS5 and Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 and 9.
    Please, I urge for help since we don't know what to do anymore.
    Thank you all who took time to read this and forgive my terrible english, it is not my first language.
    Best regards,

    Andre,
    What I believe you have is 2 different versions of Arial, you old machine probably contains the version you need.
    By old version, I mean one could by true type(XP), and another Opentype (WIn 7), and the error comes up. Even though they have they same name (Eg: Arial Bold).
    There are even old version of fonts that are both of the same font technology format and have different FOND ID  numbers(Eg: Frutiger was one that I often encountered, but you don't see this problem that much nowadays).

  • How to Embed Fonts and make Grayscale in Acrobat Pro 9 PDF

    I supplied my printer with a PDF but he says that I need to "Embed The Fonts" in the PDF.
    I made the original document in MS WORD and then I created the PDF in Acrobat Pro 9 but nowhere
    along the way did I see anything that asked me to Embed The Fonts.
    He also says that the type is in RGB but it needs to be in Grayscale.
    When I created the PDF I didn't see any option along the way that gave me a choice between
    RGB and Grayscale.
    Any ideas how to achieve these two effects while going from an MS WORD document to a PDF using
    Acrobat Pro 9 please?
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Sorry to bother you with my problem but I wondered if you could explain a little bit more about things I didn't understand.
    1 - you said > On a Mac there is no advantage to using the Word plug-in.
    Do you mean that I can type directly into Acrobat?
    I thought that a document needed to be created in a word processor first before I could turn it into a PDF.
    Is that incorrect then?
    2 - > Create the pdf file a print file menu gives you greater control.
    I do apologize but I did not understand this statement either, could you please expand on it a little (to a non-techie.)
    3 - > If you use the Press job option setting, the fonts will be embedded.
    I can't find Press job option setting anywhere - I am using Acrobat pro 9 but there doesn't seem to be a menu with Press
    anywhere, could you please expand on this a little bit too please.
    4 - > If the pdf file has already been created it can be converted to greyscale using the Preflight or Convert Colors
    under Advanced -> Print Production.
    I understood this part and I executed it according to your instructions so thank you for that.
    Unfortunately I couldn't find out how to embed my fonts and my printer charged me $75 to do that
    so I was pretty upset about not being able to understand that part of your explanation.
    Since the printer was able to embed the fonts in a document that was already a PDF then it must be possible
    to embed fonts after a PDF has been created, is that correct?
    If that is correct then i don't know how I could not find how to do it because I looked everywhere for that
    ability but I could not find how to do it.
    I'd be very grateful for any further help you could give, thank you.

  • How to embed fonts in PowerPoint?

    Is it possible to embed fonts in a PowerPoint presentation?

    I just spent a half an hour looking through the menus and Help and I couldn't find an option to enable that feature. It doesn't seem to be available. But, that doesn't mean it's not possible. There are certainly work-arounds, like printing your slide show and then choosing to save as a PDF. The PDF could be displayed with Acrobat Reader on any computer and the fonts would be imbedded.

  • Can I embed fonts of all Dynamic Text objects in a Flash file?

    Hi there!
    I'm fairly new to Flash, so please bear with me.
    I have created a Flash file which will act as our company's standard presentation / portfolio of all previous projects.  I've pretty much got it running the way I want, but I've just tried it on a few different computers and realised that the fonts aren't embedded.  I've used our corporate font so it needs to look right.  Having read the following documentation (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=Liv eDocs_Parts&file=00000893.html) I now understand how to embed fonts for one dynamic text object at a time.  However, I have a lot of different dynamic text objects in the file and I would dearly love to embed them all in one step!  The same embedding options can be applied to just about all objects, as they're all the same size and font.
    I hope someone can help me.  If you are able to help please spell things out in simple steps!!  I am aware that I probably haven't yet grasped a number of the basics of Flash.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stuart

    Static text doesn't need to be embeded. So I'm not sure what the problem you are having is. The page you linked to is for making an embedded font in your library that can then be exported for actionscript and used by code and style sheets. If you are following the instructions on the page you liked to you only need to do that once. Which shouldn't be too hard.
    That is usually a different problem that having a bunch of different authortime created textfields that need to have characters embedded.
    As far as I know your only hope to change a bunch of authortime/library items is using JSFL. So even if the thing I pointed to isn't exactly what you need you could keep googling a bit or use that as a template.
    JSFL files are just text files so open it in note pad. Look for the line:
    if(it[i].itemType == "movie clip")
    and change it to this:
    if(it[i].itemType == "movie clip" || it[i].itemType=="button")
    Now it does buttons. You give up too easy.

  • Embed fonts when saving as eps

    Hi

    Hi John
    Thanks for your input.
    I'm aware of the benefits of embedding fonts in Illustrator files but, to cut a long story short, files with fonts embedded show up as an error when put through the flightcheck application program. (And I have tailored the Ground Controls to suit including disabling the embedding fonts option.)
    Kind regards

  • Is it possible to embed fonts?

    Is it possible to embed fonts into the keynote presentation? That way if the presentation is moved to another computer, the fonts will be the same?
    Thanks
    g4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Welcome to the discussions, finfin8.
    No, Keynote doesn't allow fonts to be embedded into the presentation. If this is text that you aren't going to change, you always have the option of converting it to .pdf using Preview.
    Copy the text
    Open Preview
    Command-N
    Save As... PDF
    Then drop that PDF into Keynote, position it where your text should be and you don't have to worry about not having that font anymore (though the presentation will still probably throw up an error message stating that it needs it).

  • Does Pages '09 embed font in PDF?

    Well, my subject says it all.
    Some PDF creators on Windows have the "embed fonts" option. Pages doesn't. However, I don't know if it does it by default when exporting to PDF.
    Thanks,

    PeterBreis0807 wrote:

    Absolutely correct. Almost. There is an exception in the rare case where fonts contain a flag that they cannot be embedded. There is some license restriction with these fonts.
    You should get a message, when they are not embedded, but if you want to make doubly sure, open the generated PDF in Adobe Reader and check the file properties in the File menu. There you can see which fonts are embedded.

  • How to find out the Embed Fonts and PostScript details?

    Could you please advise me how to get the saved below "EPS Options" details(need to find out wheather the checkbox option is true or false)  using "Adobe Illustrator CS4" via scripting. I have attached the screen shot for more details.
    Embed Fonts(for other applications).
    Include CMYK PostScript in RGB Files.

    I have just had a quick look and think that you can make both of these checks by reading the EPS file head.
    If an RGB document was saved with "Include CMYK postscript in RGB files" then the following line should be present in your EPS file head.
    %%DocumentProcessColors: plus the names of the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black seps that it makes…
    I think your going to have to open the doc anyhow to check the color mode though…
    Like wise you can also check fonts by the lines…
    %%DocumentNeededResources: or %%DocumentNeededFonts: these will be empty if the fonts are embedded or a list if needed…

  • Force "Save As" Dialog to enable "Embed Font" check box

    We're trying to initiate the save as dialog from the sdk but we want to be able to force the "Embed font" option to be checked upon entry of the dialog.
    If the user has used "Save As" before and manually checked the box, it will remain check.  However, if it has not, we can't find a way to force it on.  It appears Illustrator is saving and restoring this status in its own way but we can't seems to be able to find a way to control it from the SDK.  Anyone knows how to do that?
    Thanks.

    This is really unbelieveable that Adobe is apparently unable to detect the version of Windows that they are running on and alter the Dialog box to suit! I can only imagine that their code base is so bad and riddled with old legacy stuff that their developers are unable to make this change without breaking everything. In which case, why even bother to bump to a new major version of X ?
    Why do we support this?
    Chris Cox, your answer of "We've been trying to - but we still have to support XP and Vista." is unacceptable. You know how to detect that you are running on Windows 7 and you can still support XP and Vista. Any developer out there know this.
    MAKE THIS CHANGE NOW !!

  • Embed Font Option

    Hi there illustrator friends,
    I'm from COGEN-Belgium and I am looking for a way to have the option "embed font" ticked on by default on save instead of save as, when working on an .eps document... any idea?
    Thanks for your participation.
    Regards.
    Alain

    Thanks Jeshua,
    For a better understanding, one has to know that we translate contents of illustrator files.
    We do that by extracting any editable text from the files with an illustrator to word bridge-routine of ours, translate it, then re-put the translated text to its original place in the file.
    The thing is that the option is on when the original source file is created.
    The problem happens when we reopen the document for dtp after we have passed our routine.
    It seems that the action switches the embed font option from on to off.
    Any idea how we can get the files to be saved with the option on without having to do a save as is welcome.
    Cheers.

  • Embed fonts in Flash CS3 and load in Flex at runtime

    Hi,
    I want to embed fonts in the library of Flash CS3, compile it into a SWF and load it in my flex up at runtime and register the embedded font.
    I'm able to get the linked class in Flex but the font doesn't show.
    The FLA has a font called Viner Hand embedded as a library item, with linkage VinerHand and baseclass as flash.text.Font
    Here's the code in flex to register the font -
    var FontLibrary:Class = ApplicationDomain((event.target as LoaderInfo).applicationDomain).getDefinition('VinerHand') as Class;
    Font.registerFont(FontLibrary);
    When I do Font.enumerateFonts after this, I see [Font VinerHand] in the array but the textField doesn't show the font embedded.
