Illustrator CC: photoshop layer Comps Issue

Illustrator CC does not work with the photoshop layers?
Can not adjust layer visibility.
It only happens to me?

Are there only layers or are also layer compositions in the file?

  • Photoshop Layer Comps on Creative Cloud

    Is there anyway of using Layer Comps on creative.adobe.com? I want to show the interaction of a website.

    We do not have that functionality yet, but that makes an excellent feature request - https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

  • Help!!  White line around image with placed in Illustrator from Photoshop, possible CMYK issue?

    I have a CMYK file, outlined product, that looks perfect in Photoshop.  When I place the image into Illustrator, it shows up with a thin white line around parts of the product (fyi - it shows up on a print as well). I have tried to place an RGB file and it does not have the white line around the product.    I assume it has something to do with it being CMYK, but I'm at a loss on how to fix this.  I'm desperate for any help.

    Okay, please refer this image and change the option within Ai General preferences. Uncheck the option Anti-Aliased artwork.

  • Layer Comp

    I like the idea using Adobe Bridge also as a font management software. Good. I'd also like to have Bridge be able to view Photoshop Layer Comps directly. I love using Layer Comps and would also like to see the feature in Illustrator. But there's no image viewer software that can view layer comps directly now, and I'd like to see them in Bridge.

    > But there's no image viewer software that can view layer comps directly now, and I'd like to see them in Bridge.
    And as long as they're adding a viewer, allow it to read PS assests like patterns and brushes so you can manage your collections.

  • Layer comps - plugin (composer)

    Hi,
    i would like to start using Photoshop cc 2014
    but i have a plugin that doesn't have an update for this version
    Composer for Photoshop | Layer Comps, Improved
    is there anything i can do to use it in the newest photoshop version?
    thank you in advance

    This thread may shed some light on the situation: Photoshop (2014) Extensions greyed out, extension manager not recognizing photoshop 2014
    Reading between the lines, I'm getting the impression that support for Flash-based extensions was removed from CC2014, so that may be the problem. Other possibility is that there's something in the manifest for the extension that doesn't recognize CC2014 as a valid version: the extension file itself was last updated in July 2013.

  • Best way to import layer comps as states in Catalyst?

    Is there a native way in Catalyst to break the layer comps into separate states?
    Right now it seems my only recourse is to manually export layer comps to separate images from photoshop and then arrange them as states in Catalyst. Of Course this way I lose my layers and other psd information. Having a proliferation of psds will become unwieldy very quickly.

    Automatically converting Photoshop layer comps to States in Catalyst is not within the scope of version 1.0. However support for individually identifying layer comps and importing them is. In Beta 1, there's a bug that keeps this latter functionality from working correctly. So be on the lookout for a fix in the next beta build. You can spot this feature in the Advanced Photoshop import dialog (click the Adv. button at lower left of the basic Import dialog). In the Advanced settings, you'll see a drop down menu of available comps is presented. But due to the bug, Beta 1 doesn't pay attention to what you choose in this menu.
    Once we fix the above bug, for 1.0 the suggested workflow is: Import the initial application state's layer comp using the Advanced dialog; then generate a new blank state in Catalyst and import the next layer comp/appearance state there. Currently, hidden artwork is always ignored via the Advanced dialog, so you won't end up with duplicate objects after importing multiple comps.
    A couple of additions that should be helpful in future builds: a) Rather than always ignoring hidden layers in the Advanced dialog you'll be presented with a choice to either preserve or ignore them, b) when importing, we'd like to compare the artboard's dimensions to the dimensions of an incoming file and subsequently align the two if they match. This function coupled with Catalyst's pixel snapping should ensure that artwork in each layer comp is properly aligned with that which exists in another application state.

  • Photoshop CS5 export layer comps bug / issue

    I'm experiencing a problem with CS5 that didn't happen in CS4. For some weird reason, when I use the export layer comps script, it won't let me choose a destination for the jpgs that is the macintosh HD. It will only work if I export to an external drive. The error message I get is 'destination does not exist'
    I am on snow leopard and have repaired my permissions. For now I get around the problem by exporting to an external drive, but this seems like a weird issue.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    my setup is very easy,
    go > connect to server
    choose the SMB share > connect
    select the volumes that you want...
    I had mounted the volume by placing it into my login startup but since the problem with PS I have removed this ( the good news is that this is how I was able to find this bug). Either way, via the login startup item or the method above creates the problem.
    If you follow the link below to locate the user "speeves1" he has much more insight into the Windows thing than I do, I'm just a rule follower when it comes to networking windows computers.

    > I can't share specifics of what we have planned, but we are looking into these issues.
    I understand you can't announce future things, no problem. Because of an earlier conversation about Adobe restricted to adding new features after the first quarter of a release, I was curious if the same rulings committee (FASB) has any guidelines for bug fixes. CS4 had one fix within the first quarter and the second patch came after the product cycle ended and CS5 shipped. In general is there any restriction to releasing patches/fixes after the first quarter?
    thanks.

  • How can I stop Layer Comps slowing down Photoshop

    Hi all,
    This topic has been discussed in other threads, but always without resolution. So as I have just encountered this problem today, I thought I would post the issue again to hopefully capture fresh attention.
    I just moved back over from Fireworks to Photoshop, mainly to make use of Layer Comps for displaying multiple states of my UI design. Everything was going swimmingly, but when I reached about 40 layer comps, Photoshop suddenly slowed, or at least the use of the Photoshop file with multiple layer comps slowed. If I try and drag objects/layers, they move painfully slow, making it unusable. If I remove all of the layer comps, everything speeds up again.
    I thought there might be a memory issue (as in I had run out!), but if I open two versions of the same file, one with the layer comps, one without, the one without works fine, but the one with the layer comps is slow. If it were a memory issue, surely both files open at the same time would be slow, as would the rest of Photoshop?
    I'm not sure how many layers I have, but the file is about 20mb in size, so not huge.
    I find layer comps extremely useful for UI design and certainly expected to make use of more than 40. Does anyone know of any fix or anyway of making this work? I wonder if the next CC version of Photoshop will have improved it.
    Thanks for any advice you might have.
    Alex

    Yes, I can't help but feel it is some kind of bug. If it were my PC running out of memory, then I would imagine both open photoshop files would run slowly, rather than just the one with the layer comps (while the other open file runs perfectly).

  • Updating Layer Comps in Illustrator

    I don't use layer comps much cos I remember them working clumsily with Illustrator. I now find myself in a situation where I have to use them. The Layer Comps are made in Photoshop CS6 and imported into Illustrator CS5.
    In Illustrator I'm selecting the right comp and getting everything setup how I want it. However I'm finding that when I go back to the PS file and make a change, Illustrator of course asks for the link to be updated and then all my comp variations promptly vanish and all I see is the default comp. I have to go through and individually chose each comp again.
    Why is AI not remembering the chosen comps?

    Sorry let me explain better.
    I have a product that sits on different colored napkins. The colored napkins are all derived from the same one. I then made layer comps showing the product on each differently colored napkin.
    I then placed each comp into a file in AI. When the requester box for chossing the layer comps comes up I just select the right one and place. I do not change any of the default settings. Maybe I should??
    I saved the AI file and then later had to edit the PS file again. The layer comps were updated and the file saved. I then found that when I went back to my AI file all the comps had changed to one variant – it had not updated each version of the comps. Does that make sense?

  • Layer comps in Illustrator?

    Adobe Photoshop has a nice feature called Layer Comps, which lets you wrap up a set of layer visibility settings and given them a name, so you can switch quickly between different views of a document. This would be really useful in Illustrator - anyone know of a way to accomplish anything like this in Illustrator?

    Since Illustrator 10 there is the Variables Palette. In conjunction with the Layers Palette you can set up - among other things - Layer Visibility variables.
    It's not exactly the same thing as Photoshop's Layer comps. It's a slightly different approach which, unfortunately, has never been improved since its birthday.

  • BUG: FatalError when exporting layer comps to pdf file in PhotoShop CS6

    I've been starting to use the File -> Scripts -> Layer Comps to... frequently--it is great for sharing files with clients.
    When I used File -> Scripts -> Layer Comps to Files (type: pdf, "selected layer comps only" with about 6 of 12 comps selected) today I got the following error:
    "FatalError: General Photoshop error occurred. This functionality may not be available in this verison of Photoshop. - <no additional information available>"
    The only other notification I get for this document is a missing font upon opening, which I do not imagine would be a problem.
    I am on the latest version of PhotoShop CS6 as confirmed by my CreativeCloud app.
    My MacBook Pro is pretty generously outfitted and updated: OS 10.9 (latest update), 16GB RAM, over 100GB free HD space, 1GB VRAM.
    I haven't had a chance to do repeated tests to get it to fail like this again as I'm on a deadline so I had it do the same process but exporting ALL layer comps and I removed the unwanted pages in Acrobat Pro.

    So I've found a bit in the script that I think might be it (below).  Can I remove that whole bit?  Or would changing the 4 to a 0 do the trick (I tried and it didn't do anything)... Sorry, but I'm not a coder so don't really know if I'm barking up the wrong tree or not.
    Thanks

                    if (exportInfo.selectionOnly && !compRef.selected) continue; // selected only
                    compRef.apply();
                    var duppedDocument = app.activeDocument.duplicate();
                    var fileNameBody = exportInfo.fileNamePrefix;
                    fileNameBody += "_" + zeroSuppress(compsIndex, 4);
                    fileNameBody += "_" + compRef.name;
                    if (null != compRef.comment)    fileNameBody += "_" + compRef.comment;
                    fileNameBody = fileNameBody.replace(/[:\/\\*\?\"\<\>\|\\\r\\\n]/g, "_");  // '/\:*?"<>|\r\n' -> '_'
                    if (fileNameBody.length > 120) fileNameBody = fileNameBody.substring(0,120);
                    saveFile(duppedDocument, fileNameBody, exportInfo);
                    duppedDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);

  • Issues with Win 7 & CS2. Illustrator and Photoshop have "Stopped Working"

    Hi,  New to this so I apologize in advance.  Bought a new computer in December '09. 6gig quad processor and plenty of 500gigs of disc space. NOt a Memory Issue! Installed CS2 ( 'cause the computer took all of my money!)  and all worked fine until 4 days ago.  I mainly use illustrator and photoshop. When I tried to save a document... The programs simply "Stopped Working"  I'm a rookie with the tech stuff so please speak slowly and simply....  I would appreciate any help as I'm losing money and work right now!  Thanks

    CS2 is totally unsupported under Win 7. And if you have 6 gigs of RAM I'll guess that it's a 64 bit system which simply adds to the complexity.
    Sorry, but the best advice you'll get is to upgrade.

  • Is it possible to preserve the layer name when I copy and paste from Illustrator into Photoshop?

    Is it possible to preserve the layer name when I copy and paste from Illustrator into Photoshop?
    At the moment it just appears as "Vector Smart Object" in Photoshop and I have to take another step and change the layer name.
    Thank you!

    Not that I know. PS doesn't care for these kinds of things and uses its own naming system.

  • Photoshop error when changing layer comps

    I have photoshop cs5 and trial version cs6,
    in both of them i get an error msg "Could not complete your request because the result would be too big" when i change the layer comp,
    I've tried to update it to the latest version, but still no work.
    what may be the solution?
    thanks.

    I've never seen that error myself.  If you have a way to avoid it, might be best to just do that.
