Illustrator CC refuses to show help

Today I wanted to sit down with the 'new features' section of the manual and get a handle on what's new.
So I did help->illustrator help, and, as usual, I got this dialog box instead.
"To access online help or to download help contents, you need to be connected to the Internet". Which I am.
If I use Private Eye to snoop on what connections are being made, I don't see any attempt to connect to the net happening.
Digging around on my system I found a copy of Adobe Help Manager 1.1 which had docs from CS3. Pretty useless. No later Adobe Help apps anywhere I could find.
Why has this been happening for the last few years. Why is Illustrator not making any attempt to talk to the net when I ask for the manual. Is this me or is this Illustrator? This has actually been going on since like, I dunno, CS5? 4? I've lost track. I managed to find the manual on Adobe's site, but why on earth did I have to do that. Why didn't it just pop up in the system help viewer or in whatever cross-platform help viewer Adobe's written for this release cycle.
I'm running a Mac, with OSX 10.9.2 (Mavericks), but this has been happening for quite a while. I just finally got sick of trying to work around it.

Never launches. the icon flashes for an instant and nothing happens. I've uninstalled and downloaded again. We have a three user
license and it does the same thing on the other Imac.

Finder issues and Get Info refusing to show the number of files on items on the main hard drive.

I am having finder issues. Mostly on the main hard drive. It takes ages to find things and I get the spinning wheel every time I open a folder.
So I moved all of my files to a external drive. When I had finished transfering I hit get info on the files on the external drive and on the same folder on the main drive. To ensure that it has copied over all the files. Because it was acting up and not copying all the files.
Get Info refuses to show the number of files within the folders on the main hard drive. It hasppily tells me everything on any of the external drives.
I have reset, the imac. I have re indexed 3 times. I have deleted the finder plist files. I have reset finder using terminal commands. I have moved nearly everything off the main hard drive. But nothing is working.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what could be causing my finder and get info issues.
Any help wpuld be appreciated.

Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock those files and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Back up all data.
Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -N {} + -type d -exec chmod +x {} + 2>&-
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:

Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.

for the love of pete my homies! help me out here! I am using a ridiculous school computer that refuses to cooperate and it has taken one of my joyful little toys away... being able to see the css styles in the design and split views... HOW THE HELL DO I FIX IT!!! PLZ HELP!!! sorry for the caps lock rage... I just want this $%& program to work again...

lol that isn't my problem... sadly... it won't show the applied styles such as color and font-family... it defaults EVERYTHING and nothing can be altered in the code... I want to know how to see the applied styles in the design and the split... but even with the proper coding it still doesn't show my webpage properly.
make more sense yet?

DW CS3 did not have the 'related files' feature, (introduced in CS4) this means that design view will not show the actual html pages when the css page is open. One possible solution is to actually open both pages using a vertical or horizontal 'stacking' of the open items, (select, Window - Tile Vertically/Horizontally, (select as required)).

Problem: The fade in button/tab refuses to show up

I have a four minute slideshow using two different songs. When the second half with the new song starts up, it is too abruptly loud and I want to do a fade In. Problem is, whereas the grey fade out button appears for at the end of the last clip with the ending of the first song, the grey fade in button refuses to appear at the beginning of the second half with the second song.
I had the same problem with trying to increase the volume of the second half with the new song. The volume adjust handles refuse to show up on the second half of the slideshow with the new song.
Do you have a fix for this?

Related to thread, our custom viewer app has a similar problem that only the latest free issue (published via folio builder website) is appeared, and 3 retail issues (published via folio builder) and other 3 retail issues (published via pre-release content bundler) are disappeared. And purchased 2 retail issues (published via prerelease content bundler) are appeared when logged in with the apple ID used for those 2 retail issued. What version of Illustrator? What do you mean by "Line Art"? What do you mean by "3d image"? Post images showing your starting artwork and an example of what you are trying to achieve.
If you have Illustrator 12 or higher you can extrude or lathe a simple group or path using Effects > 3D > [Pick one]. You must start with vector data, not a placed raster image. You are very limited in what you can do, and you cannot model multiple objects within one 3D world. Each object you extrude/revolve/rotate is its own world, with its own perspective and camera. You can also make any art into a Symbol, then map that symbol onto any 3D surface you create. The results are, at best, acceptable, and often total garbage.

If you feel that you have enough evidence of the symptoms, use the feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html to let Apple know. The "feedback type" of "bug report" has been removed from the iTunes feedback, so I suggest you use use "Other".
You will not receive any feedback from them, but they do read the submissions and act upon them. It can take a while, and more than one iTunes update before the issue is resolved.

Netbeans refuses to show the jpg...

I do not know which forum is good for this problem, so I try this one...
The code below works well when executed by foot (...java showPic...).
In the NetBeans 3.6 the frame refuses to show the pic, only an emty frame!
Is it a bug?

By the way, sometimes when I compile in NetBeans I got Errors while compiling (FileName). In this case I open the command line and run javac (and it works fine)!!! WHY?

Font refuses to show in creative suite

Hi Team.
I really like the @ symbol in the Anklada font. Available on dafont etc.
Once activated it refuses to show in illustrator et all. It appears in word, and other apps on my mac but not in creative suite, which is to say the least frustrating. I have tried restarting apps etc.
I wonder if its because it has a question mark in its name or something?
Any tips appriciated, I really want that @!

With free fonts, you get what you pay for.
Poorly coded fonts may fail to appear in Adobe apps. This is primarily a preventive measure to not allow bad fonts to disrupt the application (or OS).
Type the text in Word, save/export as PDF.. open PDF in AI.

The Apple TV should set it's time automatically from the network time server, if it isn't doing this try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a 30 seconds, if this fails try resetting or restoring it.

External drive refuse to show up in network

I have just bought a Verbatim 3TB external harddrive (http://www.verbatim-europe.co.uk/en_1/product_store-n-save-superspeed-usb-3-0-de sktop-hard-drive-3tb_9566_0_35770__12692.html?con=39)
It works fine plugged directly into my retina laptop but refuse to show up when plugged into my (brand new) airport extreme. I have other externals that works perfectly with the extreme and I tried to the best of my ability to format the verbatim with the same standard (GUID and Mac OS Extended).
How can this be? Are some brands of external drives just incompatible with the airport extreme?

Editing the 'show help' view mode default page

I have enabled the 'show help' view mode on a few of my pages to give users some insight into how a given portlet should be used. However, when clicking on the 'help' link now on portals Portal takes you to some default styled help page. On this page are links to Portal Navigator and Portal Builder which I don't want my users seeing or being able to access. Also I wish to style the page differently. Can this page be altered and where can this be accomplished?

Yes I understand. In that package is where you can input code for each of the modes. In the section for help view mode I have one line
htp.p('Hello');
The issue is on the actual webpage when you click the 'help' button for the portlet it displays the output of the line above but also displays other links that portal decided to stick in like a link to the portal navigator, an image in the upper left, etc. I don't want these to show up and want to sytle the page myself. I was wondering where I can go to edit the way that page is displayed.
