Illustrator CC trial question

Does the trial version of Illustrator CC interfere in any way with running Illustrator CS5? For instance, after 30 days, has anyone had any problems if they did not switch to Illustrator CC? Can I run them simultaneously?
Also, does CC work with older font managers such as Suitcase Fusion 3?

You won't know until you try. Sometimes installing triels messes up the licnesing system, especialyl when peopel let them run out, necessitating a reinstall, but that does not occur always. With regards to your font manager, you may wish to temporarily turn it off or at least turn off auto-activation of font sets. this has been known to cause heavy crashes, if the font manager is not the latest compatible version.

Bought new MSI laptop with Windows 8, I7-3630QM, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 675MX, 128GB SSD w/ OS, 750GB HDD Data.  Installed both Illustrator CS6 trial X86 and X64.  It displayed the above error.  Uninstalled, reinstalled both versions X86 and X64 together and separately, once on SSD, then on HDD, same error.
Uninstalled and reinstalled, all C++ 2005, 2008, 2010 and .net, same error.  Every time I uninstalled I ran CC Cleaner for all temp files and registry, and removed all Adobe profiles and fonts and any file existing on my computer with the name "Adobe" included in it.  Have reinstalled Windows 8 back to factory settings, tried all of the above again, same error.
I have no other Adobe products installed on this laptop, or any other products other than what was installed from the factory.  Virus software is Windows Defender only.
I have read all of the discussions that I could find in Adobe Forums and Google Search, tried them all, same error.
    So, now what?

You're expecting too much. If you're really looking for Adobe to get involved, report it as a bug and someone might respond:
    Feature Request/Bug Report Form
Other than that ask in the AI forum. You shouldn't keep your hopes up, though. That particular error is not that rare, but so far I haven't seen a clean solution. It's definitely a sloppy programming error where some function in some driver or DLL is called that is not part of a standard Windows install and without those specific components present, it simply fails.

Boy, I gotta tell ya, Mordy, that is some seriously strained logic.
To me, it's just the reality. A while back, I made the choice to use Illustrator. I don't use any other vector drawing program. Overall, for the type of work that I do, workflow is more important to me than anything else. If one could look at an app as an island, then yes, I might consider other apps, but that just isn't the case. This was also one of the driving forces behind my adoption of InDesign. Sure, on a feature-by-feature comparison, InDesign and Quark may still compete. But that competition is moot in my opinion, because I don't care nearly as much about individual features as I do about the overall workflow.
Back to Illustrator, from the "big picture" there are too many things that Illustrator can do that none of its competitors can do. Sure, break everything down to one feature here and one feature there, and you have the ability to say the Corel possess one thing here, FreeHand something here, Canvas yet another, etc. But again, at the end of the day, Illustrator has the toolset that affects my workflow. For example, being able to export a validated PDF/X-1a file is more important to me than an Eraser tool that distorts open paths. Being able to bring artwork reliably into Flash is more important to me than a ruler that can be repositioned to the bottom right of a page.
James, it's obvious from the discussions that we have had other years, that you and I do very different types of work. Sure, there's overlap -- but I don't do the kinds of technical drawing that you do, and while a project will come up here or there where I need to worry about how a plotter will interpret vector paths, that isn't the norm. So maybe my logic and your logic are on two trains, on two different tracks, going in two different directions.
To put it in perspective, the issue of not being able to slice paths correctly is somewhat of a nuisance to me. I totally get why such a feature would be important, though. But that issue is one I have to deal with from time to time. Bleed support is something that has been a huge pain over the years, considering how often I define art in Illustrator which I then place into InDesign. I have to slice paths 1 or 2 times a month. I have to place Illustrator art into InDesign several times a day.
At the end of the day, all I'm trying to say is, I know what tool I will be using each day. It will be Illustrator. That's my own decision. If AI has a shortcoming, I have to find a way to deal with it. That's the sad reality of it. I shell out enough cash to buy the Suite because overall, it is a total design solution. No other design company offers the tools that Adobe does in one package. Sure, I could decide to fill my hard drive with tons of other apps, but that's a decision I choose not to make. My work also must be compatible with others, and so using Adobe products, which are considered the standard in the industry, is par for the course. As is the support for accepted standards WITHIN Adobe products (CSS, PDF/X, etc.).
On my computer, I have 3 folders of apps. Apple apps, which are basically the iLife ones and my new fave, Keynote. Microsoft ones--Office of course. And Adobe apps--Master Collection. That's my choice (we all have that right). You can accuse me of being a lemming if you want. I've been called worse. But at the end of the day, for the most part, I am pretty happy with the toolset I've chosen to use.
    :) Mordy

  • Illustrator CC Trial Crashes HELP!

    Hi,
I download Illustrator CC trial 2 days ago and all seemed fine and I've been playing about getting to grips with it and I'm definitely going to purchase afterwards as I was so pleased with the results it was giving me. That was till I turned on my laptop today only to find that illustrator and the creative cloud programs had been deleted. I've been through every possible step on these forums to correct it. I finally managed to clear everything so I could re install adobe cloud and I downloaded my trial again for illustrator.
Then it decided that it would load up but immediately shut down and then ask me if I want to continue trial ... so obviously I said yes. Nothing loads up again!!
HELP ME!!! It worked for 2 days before without any problem. I have more than enough space on my computer and screen resolution.
I am so confused and a bit disheartened.

You may try to run the Cleaner Tool,
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
and then restart the Creative Cloud application by quitting and relaunching it.

  • Illustrator CS6 trial install damaged

I have CS5 Design Standard installed. I downloaded Illustrator CS6 trial and installed it.
I quit Illustrator CS5 for the install but accidentally started it during the install process and quit it again. Not sure if this is related to my problem.
It says it installed, but when I try to run it, it says the application is damaged and I should reinstall. I ran the installer again and the problem persists.
I tried running uninstall from the Illustrator CS6 folder, but it says it requires Adobe Application Manager to install. So I downloaded that. But it says it can't install, I should install the Support Advisor. So I installed that, and it shows two identical errors:
cpsid_83578r3: Error, "Validate license at Pre-chrome" when installing Creative Suite 5"
I clicked for details and it wasn't clear at all what to do. I tried running the CS5 updater which showed an update to camera raw and CS5 extension manager, but it fails to update, saying I should quit Adobe Application Manager, but doing so quits the updater.
So... the CS6 installer used Application manager, but the CS6 uninstaller says I don't have Application Manager, and Application Manager installer says I can't install it. Support advisor says I should update, but CS5 updater runs application manager but requires that I quit it to continue, which cancels the update. WTF?
I was pretty much sold on upgrading, but not if it's going to be this big a mess. I have work to do for my business. Luckily CS5 still works...

I just installed Illustrator CS4 TRIAL and it is stating that trial has expired and is asking for a serial number.  I literally only downloaded this about an hour ago.
Does anyone have any ideas what is up with that?
    Thanks!

You had another trial (of another product) and let it time out, locking the licensing system or another existing Adobe product is preventing the trial from running. Nothing you can do about it, unless you feel like wiping your computer and reinstalling your operating system from scratch plus al lthe software.
