Illustrator CC where is it?

According to the App Panel Illustrator is among my apps that are up to date, yet when I search my computer for it, it doesn't appear to be anywhere. When I click "download" on the website it opens up the creative cloud app list and Illustrator says "up to date" Obviously it's not up to date. I don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall . Ideas?

Geek or no geek I wouk dry using the cleaner tool or create a new user account and try to install from thatyuser other wise you are going to have to uninstall everything than remove cache files and application support files etc in order to get this to work something has your user account corrupted.
When you use the cleane tool there is an item called Adobe ID o something like tht5 you might have to remove tha as well.
You must ge rid of the preferences and and plist files in the prefernces folder dump everything adobe and install every thing from a fresh user account you keep your current user account but I would still install from thre new user account.

  • CS6 64bit Illustrator - win, where to place scripts

    HI all,
I just got CS6,  and I can't figure out where to place all of my scripts.  In CS4 version, once the scripts where in the correct folder, they would show up in the the scripts list,.  In CS6, I have to keep finding them.  Any help would be great.

    Karleen1977,
We're you ever able to resolve this issue?
Carlos - For me, the issue isn't installing the scripts in the Script menu.  It's the fact that in CS6 Illustrator doesn't remember the location of the scripts when you use Cntrl+F12 or select "Other Scripts" from the scripts menu.  It reverts to the root C: drive every time I try to get to my "other scripts".  This is a new behavior in CS6, as CS5 always remembered the last folder location when selecting "Other Scripts".
I need to be able to hit "Cntrl+F12" and have it remember to load the last folder I used for scripts, so I we don't have to waste a ton of time browsing to the folder location just to run a "time-saving" script.
Anyone have any ideas with this?

  • Illustrator CC - Where are the Typekit fonts?

One of the things I anticipated most about upgrading from Illustrator CS6 to Illustrator CC was access to the Typekit font library. The Creative Cloud application manager merely has a "coming soon" banner under the "Fonts" menu. I don't see anything in Illustrator CC related to Typekit.
Does anyone know when the print oriented applications in CC are going to be able to use Typekit? Another thing I found disappointing in the fine print: only a partial group of Typekit fonts will be made available to applications like Illustrator CC and InDesign CC. Far more fonts are available to the web based applications. I figured I'd be able to use certain popular typefaces like Brandon Grotesk in Illustrator CC via Typekit. Now it looks like that might not be happening, at least not for now.

    Hi Bobby,
As you've mentioned, we've announced the upcoming ability to sync Typekit fonts to your desktop. Unfortunatley, we don't have a specific ETA on this feature at the moment. However, we'll be sharing any updates on our blog: http://blog.typekit.com as they become available.
We're starting with 175 font families from 7 top-tier foundries. You’ll be able to sync them to your desktop and use them in all your applications for web mockups, print design, word processing, and more.
If you're wondering which fonts will be available to sync, please keep an eye on the blog: http://blog.typekit.com and twitter for announcements: http://twitter.com/typekit
Also, we're talking with foundry partners about desktop sync fonts on an ongoing basis, and plan to add more fonts to the service as we go. We'll announce new font additions on the Typekit blog.
In the meantime, if you need to work with a specific font in your desktop applications, you'll still need to acquire a desktop license from the foundry.
If you have any further questions regarding Typekit, feel free to drop us a line at: [email protected]
    Cheers,
    Ben

  • How does Illustrator choose where paste objects appear?

Just curious. When I copy and paste background images, (or any image for that matter) and paste them, they appear randomly out of alignment, nowhere near where the original object was. How does AI choose where these objects are pasted? I see the paste in place option, but is there a key command, like holding down "shift" to have objects paste where your cursor rests?
Just a thought/wonder since I can't seem to find this answer anywhere.

Cmd+F and Cmd+B are really much more useful than Cmd+V.
They allow you to rearrange the stacking order hands-on instead of moving meatballs in the Layers panel.
A whole new world opened up for me when I discovered this many decades ago (when Auntie Illie was still young and pretty).

  • Illustrator CS6 Running an Action on Multiple files in a folder

I'm having trouble getting this to work and was hoping someone could shed some light for me.
I created a action in Illustrator CS6 (on a PC) which opens PNG files, scales them onto a 8.5 x 11 page, saves them as a PDF into a output folder on my desktop and then closes the page. The action works great and does exactly what I had hoped for.
    Here is my issue:
I now have a need to do this on multiple files at the same time. Using the Illustrator Help menu, I found out about Batch processing. The tutorial says that a batch can be run on a single file or on a folder of files. Bingo! That's what I want. Problem is, I can't get it to work.
After setting up the batch with the following settings: (note: I didn't use a destination folder because I have the action saving the pdf into an output folder on the desktop).
According to the help page, it said to use Override Action "Open" commands which Opens the files from the specified folder and ignores any Open commands recorded as part of the original action. I thought this is what I needed to open all the files in the folder, because when recording my action, I had to use the open command to open a png file. It wouldn't just let me choose a folder. If I don't have the open command in the action, nothing happens.
My main issue is getting multiple files from within my input folder to open when running the action. The only file that opens is the file that I recorded while creating the action. If I remove that file from the folder, nothing happens at all.
    Please help!
    Thank you,

I need to create a Action in Illustrator CS6 where i have to open set of files from the desired folder and convert the files to eps format. but i need to save as CS5 version instead of CS6.
I tried creating the Action it works perfectly except the CS6 to CS5 conversion.
Is there any way to achive converting to CS5 in Action?
    please help.

  • Standard brushes not working in Photoshop or Illustrator

I have a lot of standard brushes that came with the CC brush library that are not working with any of the programs they come with. When I hover over the brushes they say "Type: Sketch Brush This brush format is not supported by Photoshop/Illustrator"
So where can I use these brushes then? I would like to create brushes using the Adobe Brush CC program on my phone/tablet, but I can't use them in my programs. ... What am I doing wrong here?

They are probably brushes from Adobe Brush. You have to target them in Brush to either make them work in AI or Photoshop.

  • How to begin scripting in Illustrator

I tried to search the forum, so forgive me if this has already been covered ad nosium... but I couldn't find it. (Doesn't bold welll for my ability to script now does it...)
My question is: Photoshop has Configurator and quite a bit of SDK materials for scripting in AS, VBS and JS... but I can't seem to find anything in Adobe Labs for Illustrator. Where does one find this information? I'm creating some customized panels in PS and would love to do the same for AI. Cleaning up panels and interface.

  • Illustrator CS6 files not saving properly as PDFs??

Prior to printing my work, I save PDF versions of my files.  More often than I'd like, when I print the PDF file from my computer, some of the graphics do not print correctly.  For example, a portion of a curved graphic (like a swirl) might be cut off leaving a blunt straight edge.
Does anyone else have issues with PDF files?  Is there anything I can do to control this quality issue?
    Thank you.

I had a similar issue, where a file saved in Illustrator looked incomplete when it opened in Preview (a colour logo was rendering in black only).
As far as I'm concerned, the point of a PDF is that it can be seen/read universally, so this is a fail, and opening it in a different program is no fix.
My workaround was to select and copy all the graphics in my Illustrator document, then open Photoshop and paste to a new document as a smart image. I then double clicked the smart image logo in the layers to edit it in Illustrator, from where I saved it as a PDF. For whatever reason this saved the PDF correctly.
Hope that helps somebody with the same issue in the future.

  • Illustrator is destroying my artwork!

    okay,
so without me actually moving Illustrator (13.0), (or anything else for that matter) I am getting a message saying that sometime before I opened my file, illustrator was "moved" from its original location.
Now I am shown four options in regards to pictures in the document that I had already placed before. The links are apparently broken, caused by this move.
    It says
'repair, ignore, cancel', and one other option.
Another strange problem is that the document actually has a photograph from a different document inside of it, which I never even placed there!
Illustrator then asks me to find the files so it can repair something... It lists their name, but not their location (easy enough).
I was not able to find the files after two tries, then it seemed to self-save its status (because it stopped asking)
So now I have to start all over again, placing, cropping, and alligning the pictures back into the document. ;(
This moving of Illustrator happens all the time without me even touching anything so i was wondering if there is a way to keep illustrator from moving? Use a boat anchor?
I just designed half my portfolio in Illustrator, so I'm not about to lose it!

As far as this discussion is concerned, I think there is only one kind of folder. You can call it a folder or a virtual folder or a directory, but really it's just a way to organize the location of files. Files can be physically located anywhere on a hard drive, disk, CD, server, etc., but it would be difficult to locate them without some sort of artificial but logical hierarchical structure.
Say I want my Illustrator file to include a link to a photo of me sharing a bottle of whiskey with Bob Dylan at a party in August, 2004, that I know is on my external hard drive. I open the hard drive and see a list of 20 or thirty folders, each with the name of a different category of possible files - Unpaid Bills, Letters to the Editor, Lawsuits, Stamp Collection, etc. My collection of party photographs is in the "Images" folder. Within this folder I find folders labeled Bullfights, Crime Scenes, Drunk Clients, and so on. I open the Great Parties folder and find a series of folders labeled by years. In the 2004 folder I find another series of folders, labeled by party and month. I open the "08 Rock Star Party" folder and find my photo, and link-place it in my Illustrator file.
If I look in Illustrator's Document Info panel I can see a few items of information about the image, the most important of which is where it's located: External Drive/ Images/ Great Parties/ 2004/ 08 Rock Star Party. That's how Illustrator knows where it is, and its how I know where it is.
One of my friends might decide that, because the folder "Images" also contains a lot of artwork for professional wrestling posters and and lumberjack tournaments, it should be called "Artwork", and he changes its name.
Well, now not only can I no longer find my photo of Bob and me, but neither can Illustrator. Because the path down the tree hierarchy from the hard drive on which Illustrator is installed down to the 08 Rock Star Party has been broken. Changing the name of or moving to a new location (like into another folder) ANY of the folders in this path will do the same thing.
I have to track down the photo's new location myself and relink it in Illustrator. If I remember the title of the photo file I can do a search for it. Illustrator remembers its title, it just hasn't been told its new address. Click the Replace button in the dialog that appears, and a new Replace dialog appears, with "Please Locate "Gary and Bob Dylan Partying.jpg": at the top.

  • Photoshop & Illustrator & Lightroom Integration

    Hi,
Ive just installed the Adobe Creative Cloud plugin for Photoshop and Illustrator
but where is this module ? I can't find it when i'm launching the software.
Is Creative Cloud working with Lightroom ?
    Thank you

    Hi kililio,
The plugins will not actually  appear anywhere in Photoshop or Illustrator's interface; rather, the plugins simply enable you to open a Photoshop Touch file (in Photoshop), or an Ideas file (in Illustrator). So, for example, download a Photoshop Touch file from the Creative Cloud to your computer's hard drive; then, launch Photoshop, choose File > Open, and navigate to the Photoshop Touch file you downloaded.
There are more detailed instructions here:
How do I open Touch App files in Photoshop and Illustrator, and vice versa?
Let us know if you're still having any issues.
Regarding Lightroom and Creative Cloud, we have not announced anything on that yet and we can't comment on unannounced products. We will share more information about future plans as soon as it becomes available. Here is an FAQ that may help:

  • How do I re-size and print a barcode in Adobe Illustrator?

I know this is a very, very simple thing to do, however I have no experience in AI.  My barcode vendor generated barcode files that were in AI, so I have no choice but to work from them (I think.  I can choose from several file types but I chose jpeg and it generated the images in AI)  I need to re-size the barcode to fit a very small label: 1/2" X 3/4"- Avery 5418.
    Please help.   Thanks

    Jane,
You need to create vector artwork to create and adapt/resize/edit barcodes properly.
You may have a look at the Illustrator forum where we have quite a few threads about different aspects of the subject.
    Illustrator
You may type in barcode in the box called Type to filter by text and wait for the relevant ones to turn up. I have done it here:
    Illustrator
    This should show a number of threads, such as this one;
I am having trouble with scaling strokes in Illustrator CC 2014.

  • Illustrator CC text colour prints different to object colour

    Hi there
Im having an issue in Illustrator CC where text is printing a different colour to an object. Both are using the same cmyk colour and look identical on screen but when printed the text is much lighter.
If the text is converted to outlines it prints fine. There is no transparency or tint applied. I've tried a few different colours, tried back-saving and converting to pdf, same problem. Will now check our printer settings but in the meantime, has anyone had this problem?

Here it is with the appearance options shown
There is only one lay with the box (which I eyedropped color from) and the text.  In this image I selected both of them and its saying they are both blue (if the text was black than a question mark would be in the pallet instead of the blue)

  • Illustrator gets stuck on hand tool

I'm having this problem with my Adobe Illustrator CS3 where I'll be using the pen tool, and out of nowhere (usually after I've undone a couple of things it seems), the program will get stuck on the hand tool, and won't switch to any other tool. Time seems to be the only remedy because the problem will persist even if I try to work on another file, or restart the program. It also carries over to Photoshop, which I don't recall ever giving me this problem. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm having the same issue, also in Photoshop CS4 extended.
    1)  I just re-Ghosted to a pristine Ghost image to rule-out OS/software issues on my end.  I'll post how that goes once I reinstall the Adobe.
    2)  Diagnostics report no memory or other hardware errors.  Also, I've done a Symantec disk check, and no disk errors are reported.
    3)  Also, while the keyboard notion is a good thought, I'm thinking that we can't all have keyboard issues.  My keyboard is almost new and every key works beautifully.  Here is a filtered forum listing of others having the same issue.  As you can see, this is very widespread.

  • How to stop the [Annoying] Color Picker box from popping up on Illustrator CS5; Please Help!

Yes, I'm talking about that box. It can get very annoying to constantly go back and forth to exit it out. I'm sure there should be some preferences option *somewhere* on Illustrator CS5 where you can prevent that annoying box from popping up all the dang time. It's almost like an ad. If the creators can make it automatically pop up, then there should be a way to turn off that feature. Otherwise this should be listed as another aggravating Illustrator feature that needs to get fixed.

This has to be the most annoying thing in Illustrator and has been for the years I have been using it. I click on that icon to switch between having the stroke and fill selected, and it pops up the color panel in place of my swatches panel which is what I need.
Let's say I have a swatch in my swatches panel that I want to use as the stroke for an object. I currently have the fill selected to work with, so I go down and click the stroke icon (shortcut for that is X but I prefer not to use the shortcut for that function). I then move back over to where my swatches panel is normally, but the damn color panel is covering it now! So I need to make an extra click back over to the swatches panel so I can use it. Such a minor little thing but so incredibly annoying.
I usually work with a subset of colors in the swatches panel and when I need to use a color picker, I simply doubleclick on the fill/stroke icon on the toolbar. Thus, the color panel is completely useless to me in most cases.
If I close a panel, any panel, it should not pop up unless I specifically go to the Window menu to enable it.
