Illustrator crashes when I select a font

I just reinstalled CS4 on a new mac and illustrator is crashing every time I select an new font. Any suggestions? Perhaps deleting preferences?
It gives this error..

Same as always: Remove any unnecessary fonts from your system. you have a "bad" font in there.

I just got a MB Pro retina and used Time Machine to restore all of my docs and apps to my new LT. Now when I open Illustrator and try to select a font in the character menu, it crashes. How can I solve this problem?

I've been experiencing this issue too. I run CC on OS 10.6.8 with Extensis Fusion 4. I discovered Fusion 4 is not compatible with CC and have since upgraded to Fusion 5. Illustrator was still crashing, but I found in the forums that the Verdana font had to be activated in the System folder. I tried to install it there, but couldn't figure out how to do that, so I just activated it in the Font Library. After that, Illustrator opened.

For WIN please create a DMP file using the Task Manager (Right Click on the Adobe Illustrator CC and select the option Create Dump File) when AI displays the crash dialog. Please send this to me using any free File sharing websites and do not use the mail to send me this file as the size is more than 600MB.

Plugin crashes when I select an adjustment layer in a layer parm

If I drop my plugin on any layer and select an adjustment layer that is on top of the plugin's layer from the plugin's layer param, After Effects crashes. What gives? I'd love to paste some code here but it even happens when my plugin is doing nothing at all. I can comment out all of the render code and the plugin works UNTIL I select an adjustment layer as mentioned.
Is this a problem with After Effects or is there a way I can fix this?
Eidt: It seems native After Effects plugins also crash when I select an adjustment layer from a layer param, not just my own plugins.

Photoshop 10 crashes when I select quick edit and get no response when guided edit selected

PS Elements 10 crashes when I select quick edit and I get no response when guided edit is selected. Auto edit is working. Help???

It would help to have more information, but try this: Quit the editor, then restart it while holding down ctrl+alt+shift (command+option+shift on a mac). Keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

Illustrator crashes when using save as and changing the save location yosemite OS

I am having a problem with illustrator crashing when using save as to save a file to another location than the one it was previously saved in. It will save to the same location just fine but on macbook pro with yosemite os it crashes immediately when i change the save location. Tried reinstall and also tried other users and still does it. Any solutions?

Illustrator crashes when I use selection tools?

As of last night, every time I use the selection tool to click on an object, Illustrator crashes without giving me a crash report. I've already tried restoring my preferences and that hasn't helped.
I'm running OS 10.6.8 and Illustrator CS6 16.2.1
Also, for what it's worth, I am also unable to use the selection tools to move objects in InDesign. This started happening at the same time.
Any ideas?

You may try to close down all other applications and see whether it helps. Some can cause different kinds of disturbances; you can see a list of usual suspects in Item 7 in Other options; those are just the commonly known ones.

Illustrator Crashes When Deleting Swatches

Hi, I'm using Illustrator 13.0.2 on a G5 on 10.4.11.
I've been having an issue lately where Illustrator will instantly crash when deleting a swatch from the swatches palette. It's not every time, but usually if the swatch is a spot color that may be in use, or something similar. It's just an instant close crash.
I've also noticed that I cannot change a spot color swatch to process. The dialog lets me change everything, but hitting the OK button does nothing. I have to cancel out.
Lastly, when choosing 'Select All Unused' from the swatches palette, it will select all but only delete 1 swatch when I hit the trash icon. I have to keep repeating this process to get rid of all unused swatches. And even when it does delete the swatch, the swatch remains in the swatches palette with a 'crossed-out' color icon.
I've tried getting rid of the preferences folder, but the crash continued.
And I tried opening one of the files on a different machine running Leopard, and it crashed as well. Different (but similar) documents.
- ANY IDEAS???

it has to either be a color profile that is corrupt. the preferences or perhaps a font or permissions.
Best way to pin this down would be crete a new user log into the new user an if the problem does not exist the we might be able to pin the problem down.

Adobe Illustrator crashes when I try to print

I have a new MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch and the system crashes when I try to print a Adobe Illustrator document. I also have a 17" PowerBook and a MacPro
Xeon workstation that does not have the same problem. All systems are running OSX 10.9.4.
Any help will be appreciated.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Illustrator crashes when Photoshop open

This is on a new, clean OS install, Vista 64. This, in fact, is the 2nd full clean OS install I have done because of this problem.
Plenty of RAM, 4 GB. Illy and PS were rock solid on this same machine, same configuration before the OS reinstall. Now cannot work with PS open at all, since for like 10 years now I have jumped in between programs just fine, you can imagine I am hugely frustrated. Submitted so many crash reports at this point it isn't funny.
Tried different scratch discs, I haven't even loaded many fonts yet. I am at a loss...HELP!

It is indeed the latest Wacom drivers, as you've already found out. I managed to reproduce the problem in Windows 7 64-bit after updating the Wacom drivers to the October release.
Curiously, Illustrator only crashes when you interact with its window using the tablet, not when you use a standard mouse, so it was fairly easy for me to trace the problem to its cause.
Hopefully Wacom will address this issue (I'll send them an email. I suggest you do the same), though their update dates suggest we'll be waiting months; just use the older drivers in the mean time.
