Illustrator created pdf prints differently

I created a pdf document in Illustrator and when it prints from Illustrator the text is a beautiful rich black (60,40,40,100) like it's supposed to be. Yet when I opened the pdf from my desktop and print, the text prints out lighter than its back page or other pdfs.
Could this be a compression issue?
Attached are the two pdfs to compare. The Buyz pdf is the one where the front page turns out lighter and the back page retains the rich black. The SmartBargians pdf is the comparison one in which both sides print beautifully.
I've gone in to adjust the CMYK values three times just to double check that they are retaining the 60,40,40,100 and they are.
I'm about ready to bang my head on my keyboard because I've had this issue for days and I thought it already was fixed with the adjust of the cmyk values.

I printed the "Buyz" piece, but the other file RIP'd to Postscript File without printing ( not sure why ). I did notice on the prints I did that the front page was slightly lighter than the back. Not sure why that happens, but in some rare cases, if you have some type of raster effects and/or transparency applied to elements in the file, then output becomes unpredictable. Not sure how many layers, if any,we're talking about either ( not that it matters ). Total ink may be having some type of affect on the file, where 240 may be cutting it to the limit. Typically, when I create a rich black I use 100K + 40C. It's enough to give you a little extra without getting into a color registration and/or total ink issue. Personally, I like the way the front looks vs. the back ( where the font looks a bit out of sync ). I've never encountered a problem like yours, wish I could help more. Sorry.

Adobe Create PDF printer not working fully!

Hi all!
I have a minor problem with Adobe Create PDF printer. I installed and I was able to print couple word docs, but stopped working.
I dont know why. I am still able to print web pages and others, but cant "print" pdf from word, ooutlook, Autocad, etc.
It is stopped working correctly after I tried to print from Autocad, also I have had problems with activating my Photoshop sub and Adobe support made same changes to my AAM and Photoshop, may be that is what caused my problem, I don't know, neither does support. Support has no other idea we went thru every detail but still can't use Create PDF correctly.
Any ideas?

Why do my Pantone colors in my pdf print differently from Adobe Reader than they do from Illustrator

I'm using the same printer color setting/profile in each application, US Web Coated Swop v2, (I choose this profile in the pint dialog box in Reader). The pantone colors do not match on our Sharp MX3100. I know Illustrator has been using the new Pantone books. Is Reader updated with these or is it converting my pdf to rgb when it prints? I like to print my customer's pdf file from Reader first and then after I set the file up with our shop parameters in Illustrator CS6 I print the file from illustrator but the Pantone colors, Orange 021 for instance looks entirely different. Thanks for any help!

Downgrade to previous CS where color was color. Seriously, if you were getting correct color on output and the color appeared correctly on your monitor before you updated, then there's where the problem is. The update.

Acrobat 9.0 for Window - Cannot create PDF Printer

I can't create a printer as non of the drivers in "C:\program Files\adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF" work. Re-installing does not work either. I tried installing older verions 7 & 8, both created Adobe PDF Printer... when installing version 9 it deletes the printer.
The message I get is: PDFMaker cannot locate the Adobe PDF Printer's printer driver. Please re-insall Adobe Acrobat 9.0
Anyone have any idea how to resolve this?

Do as I do on some items. Install a utility called TypeIt4Me the go to the announcement. Copy the link. choose add clipping give it a name put / or \ at the end so it you type the same words normally it don't trigger the typeIt4Me entry. then when you need to type the words (code used) and wait for TypeIt4Me enter it. the item highlighted in my attachment is this:

Creating pdf from different file formats in binder

Hi.
I tried to create a combined pdf file from .docx, .doc, pdf, .xlsx files using drag and drop function in the Adobe XI trial version. I got a 31,000 page pdf document (instead of about 50 pages) in the binder for all the combined files. Most of the pages were blank. Can anyone give the reason for this. How to overcome the problem? If I don't get satisfactory solution to this, I don't intend to buy the product after the trial period.

What do you get if you just print any of the documents to the PDF printer? Never heard of this problem, so trying to troubleshoot is the only way to trace it.

With Acrobat 9 I have one PDF Printer, but with Acrobat X I don't know how I can do it. I need help.

The method for creating PDFs using the Print command changed in Mac OS v10.6 Snow Leopard with Acrobat 9.1 and later. The following procedure describes the method in both Snow Leopard and earlier versions of Mac OS X.
Open the file in its authoring application, and choose File > Print.
Choose Save As Adobe PDF from the PDF menu at the bottom of the dialog box.
For Adobe PDF Settings, choose one of the default settings, or customize the settings using Distiller. Any custom settings that you have defined are listed. For most users, the default Adobe PDF conversion settings are adequate.
For After PDF Creation, specify whether to open the PDF.
Click Continue.
Select a name and location for your PDF, and click Save.

I too just read that the PDF desktop printer is going to discontinued, which is also why I bought the Adobe PDF Pak. Could you tell me what product would best fit my needs as well?
I work in advertising and also gather material for training sales associates so am often combining multiple format documents into one file or "handbook". I also convert a lot of pdf documents into either Word or Excel and edit pdf documents.

Problems trying to get create pdf printer to work

I just subscribed to the create pdf solution specifically for the print to
pdf capability.
I use Windows 7 and installed the software OK (after several abortive
attempts due to various installation error messages).
I now have two printers created: Xerox Phaser 6120 PS (created to overcome
the installation errors) and Adobe Create pdf desktop printer.
If I print a file to the Xerox printer, it prompts for a file name but
creates a prn file, not a pdf file.
If I print to the Adobe create pdf desktop printer, it just sends the file
to the print queue and after a few minutes the print queue displays printer
error.
How can I get this to work? It used to be so simple with my old Adobe
Acrobat v6 on Windows XP. I have wasted so much time on this; it is so
frustrating!
Any help would be appreciated.

That has fixed the problem.
It would be nice if the print to pdf facility actually prompted to provide a file name and location where you wanted the file to be stored, rather than putting it into a print queue, then disappearing., for it to upload it to the Adobe server from where you have to login and copy it back down to a pc again just wastes time and bandwidth.
But at least I can now do what I wanted, so many thanks.

Lines in a Illustrator-created PDF

I am having issues when some people print a PDF I created from Illustrator. It looks like the border around the page is going through the page diagonally. It does not appear like this when viewed as a PDF. This is a multi-page printout tiled 5 pages wide by 5 pages tall, taped together to form one image. The diagonal line begins at one corner and continues to the opposite corner of the assembled image. It only happens for a few people, not everyone. This person was printing with Win 7 and Adobe Reader XI V. 11.0.10 Any ideas what causes it or how to fix it? Thank you!

You can do this on the desktop using the Acrobat SDK as a custom plugin.
You can do this on a server with Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator.

Windows 7 Home Premium stops working with ADobe Create PDF

Windows 7 home premium after a year of working fine, today stopped working with create PDF printer. I print to the PDF printer, looks normal, but no file appears in my files of PDFs created on line. My laptop running Windows 7 Professional has had no such problem. Please advise.

Office PDF Print and office abobe PDF creator(adobe plugin) create different result. It seems that Adobe PDf creater improves line thickness to 1pt instead of 0,3pt. Is there a setting to change to original 0,3 because this 0,3 are standard line thickness for our documents. with adobe V9 the line was 0,3pt. (we need thin, mid and thick lines)
After 2 day's google searching this is the last change for hope :-)

Thanks a lot for the fast reply, i have tested it with 300dpi but I didn't get a different result. The bad thing is that not all lines getting thicker. if there is no arrow or ball at the end of the line the line thickness will not change (see Pic). I think this is a Acrobat error, i don't think that this will improve the pdf quality if the progam changes only some lanes and not all to 1pt.
I Think we must downgrade to version 9.

PDFs created by Adobe PDF print device do not display correctly in Illustrator

I generated a PDF from a PowerPoint file by printing to the Adobe PDF printer device. This step works correctly as the PDF appears normal in Acrobat. However, upon opening the PDF in Illustrator, none of the graphic (bitmap) elements are rendered correctly -- they appear as gray boxes with remnants of the correct image remaining as a single pixel border around the edge. This is clearly an error in the PDF importing in Illustrator. Any work-arounds or suggestions?

Update: OK, so it has something to do with whether an image in PPT was "cropped" before conversion to PDF, as an uncropped version of the same graphic is rendered accurately in Illustrator after conversion to and from PDF. For my part, I'm just going to recopy the images directly into Illustrator, but perhaps this might help someone else dealing with the same problem.

I understand this is no help, but Illustrator is not a pdf editor. This is why you can get unexpected results when importing a pdf in Illustrator.
If you really need to edit a pdf you could use Acrobat or Neo, and there are some more out there, just look around on the net:

Illustrator PDFs print correctly from PC, but print too dark from Macs

Photoshop and Illustrator PDF files (CS5 & 6) print correctly from my work PC, but not either of my Macs. See below:
At work, I have a Dell PC and an iMac, at home I have a MacBook Pro.
At work there is a big office color Ricoh printer for the Dell and iMac, at home I have a Epson 3-in-one laserjet for the MacBook Pro.
Both the work and home Macs will print Illustrator/Photoshop PDFs very dark/undersaturated/off color on their relative printers, but the work PC prints them correctly.
At work, If you hold up a print of a PDF file printed from the Dell PC, and one printed from the iMac, they are completely different looking - the Dell print matches the Dell and iMac screens, but the iMac print is very dark and dull.
At work, when I open a Illustrator or Photoshop PDF on the work PC and send it to the Richo printer, it comes out perfectly matching the screen, but, if I open it on the iMac and send it to the Richo printer, it prints too dark/off color.
These are the *exact* same PDF files I am opening on both the PC and the iMac - our files are saved on a server so I'm accessing the same documents on both machines.
Also, I create the files on the iMac and save them to the server on the iMac, but if I open them on the iMac it prints too dark, and if I open them on the PC, it prints correctly.
At home on the MacBook Pro, the prints are also much darker than the screen (despite color calibration with a ColorMunki as well as following all Epson's color calibration steps) and I see a similar color problem as printing to the work printer from the work iMac.
Someone please tell me this is just a printer profile thing and I can go in somewhere on my Macs and switch something so they print the same as the PC does!

EDIT: sorry i misread that as your monitor was also dark, if the mac displays the problem doc proper, you are targeting a bad print space, that's where i would look...
you app is apply the wrong source profile (or your monitor profile is off)
basing the source>print space conversion on the wrong source profile could account for your printing woes
be sure you are embedding an ICC profile in your doc, are opening it in a color-managed app, and it should display properly
be sure your workflow uses the embedded profile and your printer is setup to convert to the proper printer profile

How Can I Create a Print Button on a PDF Using Acrobat Pro That Will Also Work on iOS?

I created a Print Button on a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat Pro on my Mac. The Print button works perfectly on different browsers on my Mac and on Windows (running under Parallels Desktop) as well.
When I open the document on my iPad the Print button doesn't even appear. I am guessing that this is a Flash issue but it may be more related to the fact the the action for the button is to access the Print menu item, which doesn't exist under iOS.
Is there any way to create a Print button using Acrobat Pro that will work on a Mac and Windows but also on iOS?

In order to initiate printing by clicking a button, the button has to have either an "execute menu item" type action or use the "print" JavaScript method. As you guessed, the former won't work since there are no menu items to execute, and the latter can only work if the particular PDF viewer you're using supports it. I'm not aware of any that do on iOS.
The button doesn't appear because you're probably opening it in the default PDF viewer, which doesn't support forms at all. If you were to open the form in Adobe Reader, you'd see the button but it wouldn't work.
