Illustrator cs2 activation

I have a legit Illustrator CS2 license and have installed it onto my new Windows 8.1 PC. Is there a way to stop the activation prompt or correct it?

Activation problem of Illustrator CS2

Hi, i'm from IT of Brandt Italia S.p.A., we have 4 licence of Adobe Illustrator CS2 installed and actually utilized by users.
1 pc was broken last week, the hard disk failed and i cannot recover any data.
I'm installing another pc for the same user with the same programs that he was used on the previous pc, i'm using WinXP
I'm trying to activate Illustrator CS2 by internet, but don't work.
I have tryed to activate by phone, also don't work.
i have see on you site that this version is nomore supported, also the activation is not possible.
But different years ago i have buyed this version of software, is my rigtht to install and use it, i cannot spend money to buy a new version of the software because i cannot activate it legally.

How i can resolve the activation problem? i cannot install another version, i have 4 users that have to work to same files with the same software version, i have no money to spend to upgrade, i don't care if the software version is old, works well fo me, i don't need any new feature.

As suggested by Kaewngam CS2 is a power PC application and would not run on 10.7 or above.

Longer answer: Adobe shut down the activation server for CS2 (and earlier versions) a couple of years ago. For CS2 owners, they've made available a non-activation version of CS2 at the above link.
Download the non-activation version and use the new non-activation serial number provided there. Your existing CS2 serial number will no longer work.

Illustrator CS2 Download

I am posting here in hopes that somone will have the ability to assist me. A kind individual within my organization has thoughtfully taken our only copy of Illustrator CS2 for their very own. I know, my fault for not paying enough attention. Thinking I would simply contact Adobe for a download location so I can install the software on some new machines, I was not too worried. Well, that was a mistake. Adobe is not providing me with any help at all...despite knowing that I have proper licensing, they steadfastly refuse to assist me. One operator even went so far as to hang up on me. Everyone at Adobe claims that the software is no longer available. This, of course is malarkey. I can freely download any trial version of Illustrator dating back to the year 2000. Why a company would offer ancient trial version of their software for download and not support their paying customers is beyond me.
If there is anyone out there who knows how I can obtain a copy of Illustrator CS2 (WIN XP version) I would be most grateful. I do not need anything illegal. I do not want any other version nor do I have any plans on upgrading yet. Since the unfriendly folks at Adobe refuse to offer any form of assistance, I am asking the community of real people for help.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I have already tried to download and register those trial versions with my active license. I went to the Adobe FTP site...ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/illustrator/win/ . You cannot register them. They expire after 30 days and the kind folks at Adobe were unable (unwilling) to provide any registration assistance.

Bug in Illustrator CS2-CS5.1 beim SVG Speichern

Mittlerweile ist klar, das ist ein Fehler im Programm, getestet mit Illustrator CS2, CS4 und CS5.1 .
Was muss man wo tun um ein Hotfix zu erhalten?
Wohin muss ich mich da wenden und was kostet's ggf.?
Eine Kollegin hat herausgefunden, dass Illustrator bei eingestellter Codierung UTF-8 nicht in UTF-8 exportiert, sondern in ANSI.
Wenn UTF-8 drauf steht, aber ANSI drin ist, passt das natürlich nicht zusammen
D.h. im XML Quelltext steht UTF-8 drin, aber es ist eigentlich ANSI, das führt dann zu Interpretationsfehlern.
Witzigerweise kann AI sein gerade gespeichertes SVG noch nicht mal selbst öffnen.
Beispiel:
Öffnet das Pseudo-UTF SVG mal mit den normalen Windows Editor, anschließend geht ihr auf "Speichern unter", der Editor schlägt vor, in ANSI zu speichern, heißt die Datei ist eigentlich ANSI kodiert. Speichert man das SVG mit dem Editor dann nicht unter ANSI, sondern als UTF-8 ab, gibt es plötzlich keine Anzeigefehler mehr, weder im IE noch im Firefox.
Habe mittlerweile die Möglichkeit gehabt es in CS5.1 zu versuchen, selber Fehler.
Gibts dafür vielleicht schon ein Fix?
Wir steigen nun von CorelDraw auf Illustrator um, zu Testzwecken habe ich im Mom zwar nur CS2 drauf, aber CS5.1 wird folgen.
Es geht darum maussensitive SVG's zu erstellen, d.h. bei einigen Objekten werden Grafikattribute hinterlegt um das SVG hinterher interaktiv machen zu können.
Problem:
Das Grafikattribut ist als "Imagemap: Polygon" gesetzt und sieht in etwa so aus: "Þg;8314;S005Þ"
Problem:
Leider werden Objekte die mit diesem Attribut im SVG später nicht angezeigt(siehe "Link mit Zeichen"). Wenn ich das Thorn "Þ" weglasse, werden die SVG's richtig angezeigt (siehe "Link ohne Zeichen").
Im IE8 werden Objekte im SVG mit diesem Thorn einfach weggelassen, der Rest wird angezeigt.
Im Firefox wird das SVG gar nichtt angezeigt und er gibt einen XML-Verarbeitungsfehler in der entsprechenden Code Zeile aus.

Confirmed this is being generated entirely in CS5. I opened the font Sabon. I created a text box. I pasted in some generic type I had just made in text edit. I changed the font to Sabon and the paragraph to justify. I saved and closed the document and closed Illustrator. I closed Sabon and opened Sabon from another foundry. I opened Illustrator and opened the document. All looked good. I duplicated the text box over and outlined the type. I went into the font manager and closed Sabon. I opened the original Sabon. DING! Type reflow. I saved as a second document. I copied the outlined type and closed the document. I opened the original document (note the original font is open). No problems. I paste the outlined type (type outlined with the wrong version of the font active) and it lands exactly in place. I open the second document. The type that reflowed now gives me the stupid message about another version of Illustrator screwing it up. I hit OK and the type reflows back to the way it is supposed to be.
This proves that the kerning changes weren't due to differences between the fonts. This proves that Illustrator CS5 has a MAJOR type engine bug that could easily spell disaster in production.

Illustrator CS2 crashes

I moved Illustrator CS2 oveer to my new WIN 7 machine with 8 GB of RAM. It has been evidently successfully installed and activated. However it gives an eror message on stratup "The operation cannot complete because there isn't enough memory (RAM) available". This appears when I have no other applications running. There is 8 GM of RAM on the machine. I have set it to run as an administrator, and clicked on the XP compatibility mode. neither of these changes made any difference. What should I do next? Is this my lack of knowledge about WIN 7 or a legacy app problem?

The 8 gigs memory means nothing to a 32 bit app, more or less.
Looking at the Windows 7 compatibility web site, I would say no, CS2 Illy is not compatible.

I do know of a person using Win7 Professional that got it to run in a virtual XP Pro service pack 3 environment. And others might have other experience.

Problems installing Illustrator CS2

The problem I have is that when I try installing Illustrator CS2 it just will not install. The installer goes through the install and it looks to be installing the program.
When I check the program list everything is there except iIlustrator. I dont receive any errors regarding a problem it just goes through the install and updates then finishes as though it has been installed.
I have even looked in the programs list on the C drive (c:\Programe files\Adobe) and it isnt there.
I watched this folder on install and it creates the Illustrator file but when the install has finished the file just vanishes???
Can anybody Help me on this one please.

Indeed weird. Unfortunately for CS2 no clean scripts exist, so you will have to try that manually. What I would do is to, try and move the installer database and the installer session folders (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\caps) out of the way, so the installer thinks nothing is installed yet. You may also need to download the Microsoft Installer Database Cleanup Utility and remove any instances of Adobe Setup 2.0 as well as other references to Adobe. Be extremely careful, though. For CS2, deleting some of those keys will create a royal mess and render your functioning installs useless, because it is tied in with the licensing and activation. So take it one step at a time. Short of that I have no clue, but you could check the installer logs (C:Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers) or provide them here for inspection.

In addition to what Monika said, since the activation servers for CS2 were closed down, your unique serial number and your disks will fail. The only way is to download the non activation versions along with the generic serial number(s). And if you have the Premium, you will have to download Acrobat and GoLive separately as standalone versions.

Illustrator CS2 shortcuts won't work

I recently purchased Leopard, and now my Illustrator CS2 shortcuts won't work. I tried to create a new set of shortcuts but that doesn't work either. I can't even open a new document without going to the menu.
I would appreciate if anybody know a way of fixing this, as I don't want to purchase CS3 just yet.

Lisa - CS2 also has activation and de-activation in the same way as CS3 does. What it does not have is the un-installers. The installation-rules are the very same for CS2 as for CS3. You cna isntall as many times as you want, you can only activate on two-machines imultaneously and only use it on one machine at the time.
The first thing to do if shortcuts stop working is to delete your preferences and start from defaults. Re-installning is the very last resort and very seldom needed in my experience. an dif you need to reinstall, you need to first get rid of old settings and other files that belong to the application or they will still be there and behavior of application still be the same.

Illustrator CS2 not opening past "Reading Fonts" phase

When I double-click Illustrator CS2 on my Mac, the loading page opens up, however it reads "Initializing", then "Reading Fonts" and then just stays there. My mouse is still showing that it's loading, but Illustrator never opens up.
It just happened all of a sudden, so I'm not sure what to do.

You might want to disable auto activate in Suitcase if it is active because Suitcase may be trying to activate fonts which are corrupt/unusable. I hate to sound like a broken record but this does sound like a font issue. Sometimes I will quit Suitcase and Illustrator and restart Suitcase then Illustrator to see if the font database is not reading correctly. We have a joke at my workplace, Restart the computer, that will fix everything. I just like to start with the basics. What OS are you running?

Illustrator CS2 quits at startup

I'm using Illustrator CS2 for Mac, v10.4.
I believe the problem may be with the fonts that need to be activated for Illustrator to open, b/c it quits as the program is starting up as it's cycling thru the fonts in the activation window. It stalls for a few seconds and quits after Apple Gothic comes up, but I don't think that font is a problem. It may be another font that I may have inadvertently deactivated in my font utility recently (but can't remember which would cause this).
I've reinstalled Illustrator, repaired permissions, and removed the .plist preference, but it still won't start.
Help would be greatly appreciated!

Fixed it myself after noticing a similar message thread on the forum.
I deleted the Adobe Illustrator CS2 Settings folder and the com.illustrator.plist from the User/Library/Preferences folder. Put them on the desktop first then restarted Illustrator. Worked fine. Then trashed the old settings and .plist file---Illustrator will generate new ones at startup.

Illustrator CS2 closes after opening

I'm on iMac 2.16mhz Intel, system 10.4.11. Illustrator CS2 closes immediately after opening. I've followed some of the other threads describing this problem and have trashed the Settings and "com." files mentioned in earlier threads, but it still quits. Illustrator opens, then when I try to open a new document it suddenly quits. There are no error messages given that identify the problem. I want to avoid reinstalling the whole Suite, b/c I've already upgraded some of the apps to CS3. Suggestions?

After a lot of trial and error, I noticed an Enfocus Instant PDF in the Plug-ins folder. After I deleted this, it worked fine. For others having this problem, I also found out that Myriad is the default font for Illustrator CS2. If you don't have it activated, it may cause the same crash problem.
