Illustrator CS2 closes after opening

I'm on iMac 2.16mhz Intel, system 10.4.11. Illustrator CS2 closes immediately after opening. I've followed some of the other threads describing this problem and have trashed the Settings and "com." files mentioned in earlier threads, but it still quits. Illustrator opens, then when I try to open a new document it suddenly quits. There are no error messages given that identify the problem. I want to avoid reinstalling the whole Suite, b/c I've already upgraded some of the apps to CS3. Suggestions?

After a lot of trial and error, I noticed an Enfocus Instant PDF in the Plug-ins folder. After I deleted this, it worked fine. For others having this problem, I also found out that Myriad is the default font for Illustrator CS2. If you don't have it activated, it may cause the same crash problem.

Just to make sure: Are the Verdana and Tahoma font families installed and enabled as TTF?

1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Illustrator CS2 - can't open ANY .ai files

I am receiving the following error message when opening any Illustrator .ai files.    I can create one, close it and attempt to re-open and receive this message. I am using Illustrator CS2.
Can't open the illustration.   The illustration does not have the correct number of operands for an operator.

I have tried removing and re-installing Illustrator.   I removed my profile and re-added it...same problem.

Do you run any security tools (virus scanners etc.?) If so, either turn them off temporarily to test, create an exception rule to never scan AI files or at least configure them in such a way, that they scan files only when reading, not writing them. Additionally, simply do a little housekeeping. Download CCleaner and have it remove any temporary files you don't need anymore and clean out otehr garbage. After that, run a defragmentation (select your drive in Explorer, right-click --> Properties --> Advanced). That may help.

Illustrator CS2 won't open - PLEASE help!

I have been using Adobe Illustrator CS2 for many years now and never had a problem..
I tried opening Illustrator CS2 today and after waiting an unusually long amount of time for the application to open, an error message appeared that said "A serious issue has ocurred. Please Reinstall application." I reinstalled the entire CS2 and I am still encountering the same issue.
I have a new MacBook Pro and have used Illustrator on this computer multiple times. This is the first time I have had problems on this or any computer. PLEASE HELP

Sine the CS2 package is over 5 years old you were probably just lucky it worked for as long as it did. I'm not too sure but I think you might need to run it under Rosetta (if it is installed). Do a Get Info on the application and see if the option to run under Rosetta is there.

This is a kind of issue where it is difficult to know the cause and the cure.
You may try the list below, and/or one of the links further below, and/or hope for one of our forum staff friends to see this.

Illustrator CS2 can't open new file with network printer installed

It seems that with my network printer set up I can't do much with Illustrator, I can't open new files and I can't print without opening up the printer setup menu in Windows.
Photoshop CS btw, I can't open it at all.
I take the network printer offline and everything is fine, except then I don't have a printer.
Windows XP SP2
Illustrator CS2 12.0.1
Any fix for this?

Creating a Dummy Generic printer fixed the issues of opening a new file in Illustrator and being able to open PS at all.
However Illustrator is still taking several minutes to print something as simple as a test circle.
The menu I was referring to is Printers & Faxes under control panel, though I realized later that may not have had anything to do with it. It may have simply been coincidental timing. I opened the P&F window about 10 minutes after hitting print and just after opening P&F the print window popped up. It simply may have been taking 10 minutes for the print window to open.
With the network printer set up as the default printer if I try to open Photoshop a window opens but just stays a grey blank screen, no credits box, nothing. Then if after a few minutes I hit ctrl+alt+del it says Photoshop not responding.
What I was doing to take the printer offline was to completely delete the network printer from Printers & Faxes.
I'll see if they have an updated set of drivers, but I think I have the latest ones, as I updated them a month or so ago.

Acrobat closes after opening an embedded pdf

I have created a pdf from Framemaker which in itself has a lot of pdf illustrations.
When I click on one of these illustrations, they open in Acrobat but close the master file.
Can I stop this?

Ok, let's see if I've got it this time.
1. You want to make a PDF from a FrameMaker document.
2. In it are placed PDFs as illustrations.
3. You want it to be a normal, single, self-contained PDF.
4. When you look at the PDF, you see the illustrations on screen where you want them.
5. But when you click on those illustrations it closes the PDF and instead opens the illustration PDF that you started with (and closes the PDF you made).
6. And this illustration PDF won't even be on the computers where the end user is looking at the PDF.
Is this right? Especially step 5, is it definitely opening the actual picture file you placed? Or a different one with the picture in it?

Illustrator CS2 extremely slow open times?

Hi. I have a 23MB file I am opening in Illustrator CS2 and it takes over 14 minuets. The file is not complex but is the largest of the ones I open on a regular basis. I am opening the file from my hard drive, not from the server, and not using any font programs. I'm using Windows XP/Pentium 4/3Ghz/2 MB... Does anyone else have this problem or do I need to upgrade?

It has to kind of "regenerate" all the layer when you make any action with it (even select)an save it on the sratch disk. So, do not have too much text in one layer (same for graphics)!
Making sity maps I have to make several layers for buildings and even more for their numbers (depends on the objects/letters count)
Faster scratch disks help, but you have to have either a full-staffed hardware RAID 5 (preferably 5 VelocyRaptors array) or at least 32 GB onboard memory (for some 26-28 GB RAM-disk) or several (4-5) i-RAMs Boxes in RAID 5 or RIndMA disk (see http://hardwareforall/ww/serverRAMdisk.html) or something else starting at about $20 000).

Photoshop cc auto-close after opening.

I am new here with adobe cc 2014. i have tried using my photoshop once but after that i can't use it because it auto-closes after loading the program. I don't know how to fix this problem. Can anyone help me with this?

How can main vi detect whether sub-vi closes after opening and running it by user?

Hi I learned more using the call by reference node function.
From what I know is that, after opening and running subvi by means of method nodes.
So after running it, "call by reference" node stays active and there is no flow of data coming out of it till it is closed.
However what if I do not want to use this "call by reference" node as I have multiple sub-vis to choose. So how does the main program detect that any one of sub-vi is closed by user?

first: you may run the vi with the option "wait until completion" set to false, the call-by-reference node will return promptly.
2nd:
There are many options to signal the completion of the subvi to the main vi: globals (easiest, but may lead to race conditions), LV2-style global, queues. You can even check the status of the subvi (running or not) via vi server.

CC 2014 closes after opening/starting a new project.

So i called Adobe about this problem on Friday and after an hour and a half of trying stuff, it was all for not.
we ended up getting disconnected, and i didnt feel like calling them again.
once i open Premiere Pro CC2014 all seems good till i try to open a Project or start a new one,
it just immediately closes with out letting me do anything.
The Custmer Support guy tried:
- Reinstalling it.
- updating my graphics card.
- removing some files.
- making a new user on my computer.
all of which didnt work...i really hope that i can get it up and running soon ><

I have a brand new machine running Widows 8.
Technical specifications within requirements to run the program.
Installed Creative Cloud manager.
Installed Illustrator CC.
Restarted machine.
Illustrator CC opens. 10 seconds. Closes.
Restart Illustrator CC. Open new file. Opens file. Closes.
Restart Illustrator CC. Open Preferences. Close Preferences. Closes.
Uninstalled all Adobe components, including Creative Cloud Manager and Illustrator CC. Clean up with Adobe cleaner Tool.
Reinstall all of the above.
Restart machine 3 times.
Open Illustartor CC. Same thing...closes.
sought assistance in the above thread. Contacted by Adobe technical staff. Two e-mails...nothing.
Attempt number 3: Uninstall. Clean. Reinstall. Same thing.
Search internet for other possible causes, similar problems and assistance...nothing.
Adobe is quick to take my money, but not quick to help rectify or assist.

Voice Memo Bug, closes after opening

When I open voice memos using Iphone version (6.0.1), the voice memo screen is frozen, an then shuts off after about 2 seconds, returning to the main screen. Also, I am noticing that when I sync to my Powerbook(using Itunes (10.5.8) using Itunes (10.6.3) it seems to Sync the same voicememos every time, as if it's not noticing them as being alreay synced. Any help with this is much appreciated. (I already upgraded to Iphone 5 and am about to buy a new powerbook, but I need to retrieve and make sure all my voice memos go with me, as they are integral to my work).

Ok you can also try closing the app by double tapping the home button and tap and hold on V.memos till it dances(lol) and then tap the little (-) that appears above it, hold the sleep/wake button and home button on you device for about 12-15 secs (when you see the apple release) then launch the app again. It may open as expected after this
If that yields nothing you can try backup/restore see ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946 ) to see that iTunes does in fact include V.memos in backups then see ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2529 ) to find where your backup is located on the HD and transfer it to another ( friend or family members ) computer that can get the new iTunes and restore to your iPhone 5
I would make sure that you use caution when connecting your device (old one ) To any new computer. iTunes will prompt you before it removes anything but you cannot get click happy or you may lose data. Go to iTunes Preferences on the devices tab to disable automatic syncing if need be
