Illustrator CS2 Registration screen

Everytime I start Illustrator CS2 it displays the Registration Screen. Even though I have registered now many, many times the screen still comes up. How can I make it stop?
Thanks

Hi - did you ever resolve this?... I have the same trouble with CS2 & Vista.

  • GoLive CS2 (8.01) and registration screen

This may have been addressed, I did try and do some searches also if it has. I have a Windows 7 PC that I have Adobe GoLive CS2 (8.01) installed on and running. However each and every time I start the program, the registration screen comes up. I would like to find the steps to suppress the registration screen since it still is happening after completing both activation and registration for this product.
Any steps to try and resolve this?

Found a discussion on running CS2 with Vista and mentioned in the thread that this is a Windows UAC issue, so no need to reply what it would have taken Adobe Tech Support 1 minute to report to me. They refused to even offer any assistance on the minor issue.... as Windows 7 as their tech stated is not compatible with Adobe GoLive CS2.
This can be considered as solved. If anyone else has the same problem right mouse click launch the program with the run as adminstrator option and either register the package or click on do not register and then you will not be nagged about registration again when opening the program.

  • Illustrator CS2 and InDesign CS2 not starting - here is how it was solved.

This document is merely a compilation of information found at the sources named at the bottom of this document.
Basically running older Adobe CS2 Software on a MacBook Pro 10.6.x Snow Leopard - probably like many of you that either can't afford the upgrade to CS3, CS4 or CS5, or maybe don't see the need to do so.  It's running good but it is slow since it is using Rosetta, but it does work - well, used to work.
Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, Photoshop CS2, etc. were all running fine after the upgrade to Snow Leopard (under 10.6, 10.6.1 and 10.6.2).  Then the update to 10.6.3 was installed.  At the same time a bunch of other updates - including the Acrobat 8.2 update - were installed.  Not really sure what did it, but all of a sudden Illustrator CS2 stopped responding at the start up screen - no longer started up and InDesign CS2 popped the registration/licensing screen.  When trying to enter license info on first key press the application quit entirely.
So maybe the 10.6.3 update was the culprit.  Never even thought that it could be the Acrobat 8.2/8.2.1 updates.  Then I found this thread here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/613287?tstart=0 (good reading)
Which ultimately pointed me the the instructions here:
    >start quote from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/534/cpsid_53468.html
Replace the corresponding files present in the “ /Library/Application Support/Adobe/TypeSpt/Unicode/Mappings/” folder with the one attached to this document.
Download the attached Mac.dmg (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/534/cpsid_53468/attachments/Mac.dmg) file to a machine where the issue is seen.
    Close all Adobe applications
Double Click the Mac.dmg file to mount it.
Copy Mac folder from mounted image. Paste it to /Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/TypeSpt/Unicode/Mappings/.
A message appears to confirm to replace the existing 'Mac' folder. Replace the 'Mac' folder.
Launch Illustrator or InDesign CS or CS 2.
The Mac folder attached to this KB document already has the correct permissions set, so it should not be necessary to complete the steps below. However there may be cases where the permissions for the Mac folder get overwritten. In such a case, the original issue can reoccur. To solve this issue, complete the steps below:
Follow Solution 1 and make sure that all Adobe applications are closed.
Right or Control click and select 'Get Info' on the Mac folder  in “ /Library/Application Support/Adobe/TypeSpt/Unicode/Mappings/”, which you have copied from the .dmg file attached to this document.
Verify that under 'Sharing and Permissions' all users listed have no write access
If a change is required, click the padlock symbol and provide your Administrator credentials
Select the user which has Write access and change it to 'Read Only'.
Ensure the user 'Everyone' is set to 'No Access.
To check if the issue has been solved, launch Acrobat 8.2 and then Illustrator or InDesign CS or CS 2.
    < end quote
Even after following the instructions still "no love" from Illustrator CS2 or InDesign CS2.  InDesign did no longer show the registration screen, but it didn't continue launching, and Illustrator progressed further along in the start up sequence but also never finished launching.
Then I found another article on the adobe site.  I am just quoting the part performed  and which ultimately did the trick.
    >start quote from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/326/326388.html
Steps 1 and 2 are not relevant so no need to do them
    3. At the Finder, choose File > Find.
    4. TypeAdobeFnt10.lst (Illustrator CS2), select the system drive, and then press Return.
    5. Delete all AdobeFnt10.lst files found.
    6. Restart the computer.
    7. Restart Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new Adobefnt10.lst or AdobeFnt07.lst file.
    < end quote
So, this solved the problems at least for the time being.  Hope this helps someone else a bit.

Illustrator CS2 stopped working for me on Snow Leopard as well. What it all boiled down to was not to update to 12.0.1. Not sure which release of Snow Leopard I was on when I figured that out but I keep up-to-date, am now at 10.6.6 and CS2 still works fine. I keep getting prompted to update to 12.0.1 from time to time but just cancel it.
I'm fairly sure I was at 12.0.1 already when I moved from Leopard to Snow Leopard and it was that, not a Snow Leopard update, that "broke" CS2 12.0.1. If I remember correctly, if you now try to apply the update, it won't go through with it anyway.

  • Illustrator CS2 in Adobe Productions Studio.  What is going on here?

    Hi:
Finally getting around to learning Illustrator CS2. Using Total Training.  Immediate problem....supposedly if I hit "Browse New Extras" on the welcome screen its supposed to open up Bridge and take me directly to the folder.  But this link is broken.  When I hover over "Browse New Extras," I get a circle with a slash through, the international symbol for " this doesn't work."  I can navigate to the folder myself using Browse which does open up Bridge, but it is disturbing that the welcome screen link isn't working....leads me to believe there is something wrong with the installation...
In "Color Settings," BEST WORKFLOW was not available. I had to go out and locate the file and install it by hitting "Load" on the Color Settings Menu.  Seemed to load OK. But it says above it "Unsynchronized. Your Creative Suite applications are not synchronized for consistent color. To synchronize, select Suite Color Settings in Bridge."  Well, I opened Bridge, and there is no setting for "Suite Color Settings."  So I looked in the Bridge and nothing comes up for "Suite Color Settings." So I looked on-line (Google) and found an Adobe article and learned that I should be able to get to Suite Color Settings also by navigating to BRIDGE CENTER. Well I don't have that either, so I found another Adobe article that is entitled "Bridge Center is Missing from Adobe 1.0.X  and thought, hmmm, mine is CS2. But I checked the version number and its 1.0.4.6 (this came with Production Studio CS2) so I went ahead and modified the AdobeESDGlobalApps.xml file like it says to do. Restarted Bridge and hit ctrl-alt-shift like it says to do but nothing happens....no Reset Setting dialogue box appears like the article says it should so I repeated Step 6 several times and cannot get anything to happen. So I went manually into Reset settings but there is still no option for Bridge Center.
So now I am totally stumped.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave

I had a little success by changing the Color Options in Photoshop also to "Best Workflow."  Now at least the Color Options in Illustrator and Photoshop both say "Synchronized."  Opened BRIDGE and hit Ctrl-Alt-Shift and this time got a dialogue box. Checked "reset options" and closed.  But still no "Bridge Center" is showing up in Bridge...

  • Illustrator CS2 stopped launching

My OS is 32 bit Windows Vista. My CPU is a Core 2 Duo. Adobe Illustrator CS2 used to work on my computer, but now it won't launch. It also won't reinstall or uninstall.
I went to the Windows Control Panel for uninstalling programs. When I highlighted the listing for Illustrator, the "remove program" button did not appear.
I tried to replace Illustrator CS2 with the academic version of Illustrator 10. When I entered the correct registration code for Illustrator 10, I got an error message that stated the registration code I entered was incorrect. I compared the registration code on the Illustrator 10 packaging with the registration code I entered more than 10 times. There can be no doubt that I entered the correct registration code. This registration code worked in 2001.

    benh,
This multiple issue seems rather strange. The ultimate cure might be to go back in time to a more stable condition of your computer if that is possible, or to argh reinstall everything including the OS.
To get CS2 to run again, you may try to Move the folder (follow the link with that name).
    Or you may try to:
    1) RightClick the shortcut;
    2) Click Properties;
    3) Click Compatibility;
    4) Tick Run this program in Compatibility mode for, then select XP in the dropdown list;
    5) Try to start.

  • Illustrator CS2 Download

I am posting here in hopes that somone will have the ability to assist me.  A kind individual within my organization has thoughtfully taken our only copy of Illustrator CS2 for their very own.  I know, my fault for not paying enough attention.  Thinking I would simply contact Adobe for a download location so I can install the software on some new machines, I was not too worried.  Well, that was a mistake.  Adobe is not providing me with any help at all...despite knowing that I have proper licensing, they steadfastly refuse to assist me.  One operator even went so far as to hang up on me.  Everyone at Adobe claims that the software is no longer available.  This, of course is malarkey.  I can freely download any trial version of Illustrator dating back to the year 2000.  Why a company would  offer ancient trial version of their software for download and not support their paying customers is beyond me.
If there is anyone out there who knows how I can obtain a copy of Illustrator CS2 (WIN XP version)  I would be most grateful.  I do not need anything illegal.  I do not want any other version nor do I have any plans on upgrading yet.  Since the unfriendly folks at Adobe refuse to offer any form of assistance, I am asking the community of real people for help.
Thank you in advance for any assistance provided,
    Mike

    shunithD,
Thanks for the tip.  Unfortunately I have already tried to download and register those trial versions with my active license.  I went to the Adobe FTP site...ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/illustrator/win/ .  You cannot register them.  They expire after 30 days and the kind folks at Adobe were unable (unwilling) to provide any registration assistance.

  • Draw line in illustrator cs2

    hi,
i am new to adobe illustrator cs2.
is there any other method to draw line other than s
    setEntirePath().
    thanks in advance,

    Hello David,
It sounds to me like you're witnessing the double edged sword of an incredibly sharp display. The contrast and clarity of LCD displays makes it very easy to see razor-thin lines with ultra fine definition, but this comes at a cost.
Font smoothing (a.k.a. font aliasing) is one example of where most LCDs are so sharp that most people prefer to have their text "fuzzed" up a little bit.
A one pixel wide diagonal line is another example that you've discovered - the display is so sharp that there is no blurring around the "steps" of the line. You can see every change in gradient, because as sharp as your CRT might've been, it was blurring the line just slightly - enough to enhance the illusion that your diagonal line was a line rather than a series of adjacent "steps". No software package that I know of has bothered to implement "line smoothing" yet, probably because you need the detail for accuracy when putting lines together.
Sort of related to this, big screen HDTV plasma and LCD monitors look amazing in the store when tuned to an HD station, but most people would be floored if they say how grainy and pixelated a standard cable signal looks on the same display. It's literally like watching an old VHS tape, because the display is so sharp it resolves detail that is invisible on a "lesser" display.
Neat human trick: get used to working with your LCD, and then go back to the CRT if you have a chance. How does the CRT look? I thought I needed glasses the first time I switched back!

  • Illustrator CS2 can't open new file with network printer installed

It seems that with my network printer set up I can't do much with Illustrator, I can't open new files and I can't print without opening up the printer setup menu in Windows.
Photoshop CS btw, I can't open it at all.
I take the network printer offline and everything is fine, except then I don't have a printer.
    Windows XP SP2
    Illustrator CS2 12.0.1
    Any fix for this?
    Thanks,
    David

Creating a Dummy Generic printer fixed the issues of opening a new file in Illustrator and being able to open PS at all.
However Illustrator is still taking several minutes to print something as simple as a test circle.
The menu I was referring to is Printers & Faxes under control panel, though I realized later that may not have had anything to do with it. It may have simply been coincidental timing. I opened the P&F window about 10 minutes after hitting print and just after opening P&F the print window popped up. It simply may have been taking 10 minutes for the print window to open.
With the network printer set up as the default printer if I try to open Photoshop a window opens but just stays a grey blank screen, no credits box, nothing. Then if after a few minutes I hit ctrl+alt+del it says Photoshop not responding.
What I was doing to take the printer offline was to completely delete the network printer from Printers & Faxes.
I'll see if they have an updated set of drivers, but I think I have the latest ones, as I updated them a month or so ago.
    Thanks,
    David

  • Illustrator CS2 crashes at launch about the time fonts load

I can not get illustrator CS2 to launch. Watching the splash screen/loader screen - illustrator seems to crash when loading the fonts. It isnt one font inparticular.
I have reinstalled the application and still cant get it to run.

It's grayed out because you need to change the
    owner.
For this you'll need the Admin password for your
    computer.
Click on the little padlock and change the owner to
your account. The group can be Admin.
From here, set "Other" to read & Write.
    Apply to all enclosed items.
Before anyone trys to yell saying, "That's a huge
application security risk" we are trying to figure
this out without demolishing what the user has so
far. If this is successful, we can always go back and
    tighten things back up.
Not working. I am thinking my font issue is not resolved. It is still quitting at the loading of fonts. I did get one error saying there was an error loading plug ins.- I have checked all my other applications and they are working- Quark, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Acrobat..
I am not on a network- this is a stand alone computer.
When I ran verify disk an error came up the said (in red) invaild file name..

  • Illustrator CS2 won't shut down in Windows XP

    Hi,
For some reason I'm experiencing trouble getting Adobe Illustrator CS2 to shut down in Windows XP. Everything in the program works smoothly, but when it comes time to close my file and exit the program it just hangs. I can't access the Illustrator drop down menus or taskbar at the bottom of my screen and need to do an 'end task' (force quit) using the task manager.
Does anyone have any ideas for how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks for your time,
    Bentley

I've been having the same problem just in the last few days (WIN XP SP2, CS2, plenty of drive space, etc.)
Thought it was my update to Norton 360. Saw another post that seemed to eliminate Norton as culprit.
Stumbled across this fix tonight. Seems to be working each time:
    1) Close all AI files
    2) Copy some small text (from any program it seems -- I used email text and then tried the AI HELP>System info>Copy to clipboard)
    3) Exit AI via any option -- AI should close immediately
The copy to clipboard seems to release something AI can't dump on exit.
Interesting to see if others get same repeated results.

  • Illustrator CS2 issues on intel

After installing Creative Suite 2 I cannot get Illustrator CS2 to run on my iMac.
It goes through the motions with the splash screen etc, but it is not creating any of the palettes or a new document window - it just hangs there awaiting a friendly force quit.
I've tried repairing permissions, holding down option whilst starting the app etc, but still no joy. Any tips?

I suggest only running cs2 in xp with bootcamp.
It is more stable and 100 times faster.
What gets me is that for years apple was known as a designers machine. Now without a UB of cs2 they don't run the most important design apps well at all in osx.
I really hope adobe gives in and decides to release a patch of cs2 for mac users. But according to them, that won't happen.
What kills me is that many of my favorite design apps are from macromedia.
And apps like freehand will never see a mac UB because they were snapped up by adobe. So I have to run FH in xp to use it at speed. Guess I am going to have to learn those xp "command keys". Wish mr. jobs would use some of that disney money and just buy adobe.

  • Kernel Panics with Illustrator CS2

    Hi,
Everytime I use Adobe Illustrator CS2 on my 3 month old MacBook Pro I get Kernel Panics and my computer has a hard time recovering. A couple of times I have had to reboot from the Install Disk to get it past the inital blue startup screen. The first time I had to completely reinstall OSX software. The second time all I had to do was boot from the disk and it was fine afterwards.
Are there any compatibility issues with Intel Macs & Adobe CS2?
    Photoshop appears to work fine.

MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Intel Mac

    Hi, Anapharya.
No kernel panics on my Macs after 10.4.7 Update.
See my "Resolving Kernel Panics" FAQ. This FAQ includes step-by-step instructions for identifying and resolving some of the most common causes of kernel panics.
My FAQ is a roadmap: start at the beginning and work through to the end, including the "If all else fails..." section if a cause or resolution is not found in an earlier troubleshooting step therein.
    Good luck!

  • VERY disappointing Illustrator CS2 performance on a G5 Quad

I just spent a ridiculous amount of money to upgrade to Creative Suite 2 and to a Quad G5 and noticed that Illustrator CS2 uses only maximum 25% of my computer's processing power.
Using activity monitor I can see that Illustrator never goes beyond 100%, whereas Photoshop goes all the way to 400% usage when needed.
Saving/opening complex graphics still takes way too long, as also using 300ppi effects like outer glow. It's so frustrating to know that 3/4 of the processing power is just idle no matter how long the beachball spins on my screen.
And Adobe says Illustrator CS2 is a professional app with multiple processor support?!
Editing complex drawings is still painfully slow even if I have a Quad G5 with 4.5GB RAM... I'm so mad at Adobe right now...
Any suggestions what I should do?

G5s came out two years ago. It took another 18 months or so for CS2 and Tiger to begin to leverage that G5 and begin to better utilize more than 2 or 4GB address space.
Sometimes programmmers follow Apple guidelines, sometimes they think they know a trick or two to make things work better. Notice how Tiger takes over and provides caching.
Tiger has much much better thread management/creation.
It takes time to learn how to use, optimize and write for G5, and to use Xcode (2.2). Plus, you really need access to machines to test and run code on. One guess, that in six months Tiger will help bridge four cores better. And Adobe will monitor their code, threading, memory handling, and see if there are problems.
One question, how different or alike is it to have dual core AND dual proceessor? A decision tree is no longer A:B but needs to look at A:D to see who is busy and who is waiting.

  • Illustrator CS2 Printing Help - Epson R1900

    Hi there,
I've been printing to my Epson R1900 with no problems from  Illustrator CS2 from my Macbook for a year without a problem. I got a  new Macbook, only slightly newer than the last, reinstalled Illustrator,  and now my print quality is in the gutter. I've tried to adjust the  print settings, which I never had to do before, and it's still very  poor. What I am printing are just graphics I've drawn on-screen. No  images. In the Output section of Print Presets, I can't adjust anything  except Right Reading or Left Reading. Can anyone help? I don't know what  changed. All of the printer drivers are the same and are installed. The  strokes of lines look pixelated, as does the text. I know I could do  "Create Outlines" to sharpen it, but I never had to do that before, and I  want to be able to edit the text later.
    Hopefully someone can  help.
    Thank you for your time.
    Keli

You upgraded your OS as well and that is what has changed you will not be able to print from the epson R1900 with smooth curved lines or smooth paths.
Simply not possible in the newer OS above 10.5.
This is what you must do, Print from Acrobat or if you wish rasterize the art and print that.
Or save it a psd rasterized and print that from Photoshop.
    Or purchase a RIP software.
