Illustrator CS2 - The font Verdana,Bold

Hi Everybody
The following error appears when I try to open a pdf file in Illustrator CS2 even though the Verdana Bold font is in the Windows / Fonts sub directory:
"The font Verdana,Bold is missing.  Affected text will be displayed using a substitute font." The substituted characters displayed do not reflect the original text. Any Ideas?

"Verdana Bold" and "Verdana, Bold" are two differnet things. one refers to the font name, the other to a font name and a weight. This is an issue with how the document was created. Eitehr the true bold font was not available and faux bold was used, the version of the font is older and does not contain the correct familiy identification data or the application that created the file stored the info the wrong way....

    Hi BRAEWOOD DEVELOPMENTS,
    You can edit the Subject & Message when you've selected Send Personalized Invitations (though you can't change the font or style of the text).

  • Error: Cannot find or create the font '0, Bold'...

    I get this error when I try to open a .pdf file that someone sent to me. "Cannot find or create the font '0, Bold'. Some characters may not display or print correctly."
    I use gmail and can view the file but as soon as I save it or try to print it and adobe reader opens the file I can't see the any of the letters just lines of dots where the text is supposed to be.
    I did a quick search to see if there was already something in the forums or on the web but didn't find anything right away. I would like to print the file so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Sounds like the file is corrupt. Try contacting the file's creator.

  • Illustrator CS2 ITA & fonts list problem

    Hi!
    I've a BIG problem with ILLUSTRATOR CS2 (ITALIAN VERSION).
    So, fonts are not displayed in the font list in the character palette.
    I tryed to repair but the problem remains.
    Any idea?
    I've also Ps CS3 & Acrobat Reader 9.1 on WinXP SP3
    HELP ME PLS!
    Thx
    Ciao!

    Clear out any instances of AdobeFnt.lst files. On next startup, they will be rebuilt. Before you do, get rid of any fonts you don't currently need, especially poor quality free fonts. Some of them contain incorrect contours or other damaged data and will kick your system in the teeth...

  • How do I change the font to bold for a label in a check box item

    I am having no success with this and my internet searches throw me all over the place with no success. Can someone please explain how to change fonts for items in the most simple and basic terms. Thanks

    Use HTML Form Element Attributes and type there something like style="font-weight:bold" or Form Element Option Attributes and class="fielddatabold". See my demo app for that:

  • Arial bold is loaded on my PC, but doesn't appear in the font picker

    Arial is loaded but doesn't appear in the font picker window. I also get the message 'cannot find or create the font arial,bold. some charecters may not display or print correctly.
    Thanks

    Yes, it is an opentype font, installed i
    n the correct place. As I mentioned before, I am having the same trouble with TrebuchetMS.
    I have tried font applications such as font expert and suitcase, still no luck.
    The fonts are recognised in applications such as Illustrator.
    Thanks

  • I have Firefox 9.0.1, and a few days ago my font became Bold, I am using Times New Roman, this seems to be also the case in IE, but the Chrome is not affected, also the fonts in my Word are fine, how can I fix this problem? Thanks!

    Firefox 9.0.1,
    When i write in the search box on Google the font is bold and on some website it is bold also in the gmail but on other sites it is fine.
    Please let me know how can I fix this.

    So, you do not see any fonts bold that shouldn't be bold?
    What are your current default font settings?
    If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
    Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Changing+fonts+and+colors
    It is better not to increase the minimum font size in case you need a larger font, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.

  • Convert the Regular font to Bold

    When i used the resident cartridges lexjapan or lexkorea the bold option is not available. So i used the .L4 files of lexjapan/lexkorea, renamed them (lexjapan(bold)) and set the Bold property to 1 and selected this cartridge in the presentment along with lexjapan.
    Now the bold option is enabled but there is no difference between the regular font and bold font.
    I think this is because though the property is changed the fontwidths are not changed in the .L4 file.
    Can anyone please tell me how can i set the font to bold for fonts where the bold propery is not set.

  • Hello. I am trying to self host Italia fonts (Book, Bold and Medium) on Adobe Muse. I purchased web fonts from Linotype that are "obfuscated" - which means the name is hidden. Apparently I also need to install system fonts. Can I install with code in muse

    Hello! I am trying to self host Italia fonts in muse. I purchased from Linotype the web fonts. But they sent obfuscated fonts and code. I need to also install as system fonts and those do not work for that. We already have different Italia fonts that we owned prior but they are not obfuscated... Is this a problem? Is there an easier way I can do this? TIA!

    Abhishek,
    Thank you for the reply. Wanted to comment on a few things.
    I reviewed the other post that you've referenced. Nothing unusual jumped out at me as something that I was not aware of. I'm running an older iMac that is in good working condition. 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 24" screen. I know this issue is fleeting, as I stated earlier typically can be corrected with a restart of the CC Desktop application (that I am always running at startup). I have not been able to determine that shutting down Muse corrects the issue. I would, at this time say it doesn't.
    I did open InDesign and see if the fonts in question, Open Sans and Open Sans Condensed, were present and usable. They were. The fonts are shown as being synched in my CC Desktop app window (even if they are not "installed" in Muse). That is expected but it may be a bug in how Muse brings in a font from those that are already synched to your CC account. I don't know enough about how that works to comment.
    And just to complicate matters, Muse seems to be working again, the fonts that is. I brought them back in and they are showing up in all locations (which there are actually three - see screen shots).
    First is primary text menu dropdown (to right of orange "Text").
    Second is if you click orange Text link. Another drop down menu appears.
    And lastly, the Text Panel to right of screen.
    I also wanted to add this extra bit of information, for what it is worth. When the issue arises and you do not get the sub-menu dropdown showing various styles of the font (italics, bold, etc.), one can use click on the missing font if you had used it previously and it is present in the "previously used font" list.
    Cheers!

  • Save svg with font-weight:bold rather than a bold font?

    Illustrator is changing the font in my svgs to Arial-BoldMT, which causes it to publish incorrectly (doesn't show up bold).
    When I change the svg code to ArialMT; font-weight:bold, it publishes correctly. Any idea how to have Illustrator save the svgs with the font-weight:bold attribute so I don't have to change it in the code?
    Thanks for your help.

    Out of curiosity may I ask why you are using svg, is this for mobile devices.
    Try uninstalling Arial-BoldMT on your system.

  • Ssrs 2008 r2 writingmode=rotate270 font is bold on report server

    In a ssrs 2008 r2 report, I am using writingmode=rotate270 to change the direction of header columns for detailed data on the SSRS report. The font in visual studio is 'light'. However when the report is deployed to the report server, the font weight is
    bold.
    Thus can you tell me if there is a workaround to make the font not bold when it is executed on the report server? If so, can you tell me how to solve the font problem so the font is not bold when writingmode=rotate270 when executed on the report server?

    Hi Wendy,
    I am able to reproduce the issue in both SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM Reporting Services and the latest version of SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services (SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 CU10, Build number 10.50.4297). In addition, based on my test, it is fixed in SQL Server
    2012 SP1 Reporting Services.
    To work around this issue, you can place images in the column header cells and make the rotation of the text in the images. Besides, I would suggest you submitting a wish at

  • How to stop size of JTextField from changing when I change font to bold

    I'm working on a Sudoku solver for a CS project. I've got JTextFields for the input. I want to bold the entries of the begining puzzle, like they are in the magazines. When I set the font to bold, it changes the size of the text field. I'm using the gridbaglayout and have tried everything to set in stone the size of a text field, but nothing seems to work. I've set the maximum, minimum size, the setSize method, as well as setting the prefered size. But no matter, when I change the font from plain to bold, the box grows in size. How do I prevent this from happening. I can post my gui code if it would help.
    Here is a link to my grid, with the upper left square having bold text:
    http://12.227.129.113/CS486/Project4/Project4.html

    add them to panel/s set as a gridlayout 9 x 9, or (3 x 3) x (3 x 3)
    simple demo of a 9 x 9
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    class Testing extends JFrame
      JTextField[] tf = new JTextField[81];
      public Testing()
        setLocation(200,100);
        setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
        JPanel p = new JPanel(new GridLayout(9,9,5,5));
        for(int x = 0, y = tf.length; x < y; x++)
          tf[x] = new JTextField(2);
          tf[x].setHorizontalAlignment(JTextField.CENTER);
          p.add(tf[x]);
        tf[0].setFont(tf[0].getFont().deriveFont(Font.BOLD));
        tf[0].setText("9");
        tf[1].setText("3");
        tf[66].setFont(tf[66].getFont().deriveFont(Font.BOLD));
        tf[66].setText("9");
        getContentPane().add(p);
        pack();
      public static void main(String[] args){new Testing().setVisible(true);}

  • Font "Verdana" is not working - Oracle forms 11g

    OS : Windows XP 32 bits - SP 3
    Forms : 11.1.2.0 - Development
    I'm using the font "Verdana" for some items in a form. When i test it, forms keeps using another font (arial). However, other fonts do work.
    These are the lines in the registry.dat file:
    default.fontMap.defaultFontname=Dialog
    default.fontMap.defaultSize=900
    default.fontMap.defaultStyle=PLAIN
    default.fontMap.defaultWeight=PLAIN
    default.fontMap.appFontnames=Courier New,Courier,courier,System,Terminal,Fixed,Fixedsys,Times,Times New Roman,MS Sans Serif,Arial default.fontMap.javaFontnames=MonoSpaced,MonoSpaced,MonoSpaced,Dialog,MonoSpaced,Dialog,Dialog,Serif,Serif,Dialog,SansSerif
    Is there another file to check. On internet, i found some info about the font.propeerties file, but there's no one in the directory used for 11g installation. There are two files named "font.properties", but located in the forms 6i directory, so i'd say these are not the files i need to check.
    Anyone can help? Thanks

    This is mostly an Apple issue and you should discuss it with them. Oracle Support has authored some documents on the subject, but because it is really an Apple issue, you probably will be best served contacting them. Basically, Apple has put Java on lockdown. If you want it to work make some setting changes. There are numerous web site that are talking about the new restrictions. A simple Google search will get you started.

  • Finder issue-Font always bold in list view

    In icon view and column view, the font comes out perfectly normally, but when I switch to list view, the font is bold!!! For some reason, it bugs the heck out of me!
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Go to Users/yourname/Library/Preferences and trash these two files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    Then, restart. (You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

  • Illustrator issue - loaded fonts missing

    I have recently installed CS6 on my iMac and added all my special OT fonts  into /Library/Fonts. When I open FontBook they show as active and available. However when I open Illustrator, half the fonts do not appear. I wondered is it was a CS6 Issue, so uploaded all fonts to InDesign in the ap Font folder and InDesign works fine. The issue seems to be Illustrator specific.  I have seriously spent hours looking for an answer, I haven't found anything online that explains. Can anyone help?

    How many such fonts you have installed? Sometimes few fonts and Illustrator do not cooperate with each other nicely. But you may try disabling few fonts and see which font is causing issue, it will require some hit and trial effort at your side. At least you will be able to use rest of the fonts, if you can identify the problemetic font. I also had this problem once, and found out of around 100 fonts there was only one font which was creating problem. Once I identified it, I could use application smoothly. You may try it too.
