Illustrator CS2 - Uniform scaling (Shift+Bounding Box) Not responding

After opening a CS3 Illustrator file, now functions such as Uniform scaling (Shift+Bounding Box) and zooming in and out shortcuts, are not responding.
They still work in other files so the problem is specific to the imported CS3 files. Is there a way to remedy this??

It might possibly be a language thing if you are using something other than U.S. as your setting in the International System Preferences.
I normally have my language set to Icelandic but every time I have to re-start Illy I have to switch to U.S. to get keyboard commands to work properly. Just do one keyboard command with U.S. and then switch back to your native language. Dunno why this is, but it works for me.
If you normally use U.S. I haven't a clue.

Proportional Scaling with bounding box does not work

Problem:
When I attempt to proportionately scale objects with the bounding box, by selecting a corner / handle and holding Shift as I drag, it doesn't work.
I'm not doing it wrong or in the wrong order of selection, etc., I've done it this way for years.
Also, Illustrator is persnickity. It HAS occasionally worked, but more often does not.
Restarting Illustrator, my computer, closing Entourage, nothing works.
I read this thread and none of the suggestions work.

Just for reference, these are the instructions from Illustrator manual that I am having issues with.
Scale objects with the bounding box
Select one or more objects.
Select the Selection tool or the Free Transform tool .
Drag a bounding box handle until the object is the desired size.Objects scale relative to the opposite handle of the bounding box.
Do any of the following to control the scaling behavior:
To maintain the object’s proportions, hold down Shift as you drag.
To scale relative to the object’s center point, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) as you drag.

Bounding box not showing in illustrator CC 2104.1

Bounding box disappears after updating to CC 2014.1 (AI). Can't show it through the menu, neither the shortcut. Any idea?

I am afraid you have come across the Live Rectangle bug which is limited to the MAC versions starting with 10.7 and 10.8, but not 10.9 (Mavericks), see this thread linked to below.

So a switch to Mavericks with a reinstallation might be the way to solve it here and now.
It is possible to Expand the Live Rectangles to get normal old fashioned rectangles.

Bounding Box Not Working

I'm using Illustrator CS4. The bounding box will not appear. I have tried switching between show/hide bounding box with no luck. I tried alt,shift,ctrl at start, did not fix it. Is there a known issue with the bounding box or am I just the lucky one that is having problems? Sometimes if I close Illustrator and restart the program, the bounding box will appear, however this has not worked in the last 20 or so times I have tried.

You may try to Move the folder for a change, with Illy closed.

Why does my bounding box not align on a centred path anymore?

Typically I would be able to use the bounding box of a rectangle with a path style set to centred (not in or outside the path) in order to snap several objects paths to one another. Illustrator now sets the bounding box to the outside edge of a path thus not allowing this to happen anymore.
Is there a quick way to fix this?

I got to the bottom of it at the same time...the alignment guides were checked but I must have accidentally hit Use Preview Bounds.
Once unchecked life is back to normal.

Section tool is missing bounding box... show bounding box not available

My selection tool is missing the bounding box, i am unable to transform anything.
under View where show bounding box is suppost to be it is not.
I am using CS5... and JUST installed it, i haven't done anything yet.
please help!

checking out the shape tool, and just noticed that the rectangle and rounded shape tool displays differently in settings at the top bar. they appear to be "shape" objects. but when clicking on the elipse tool in that group, it's considered to be a "path" tool? does this have anything to do with this issue because with the elipse, i can create one and the handles are back on the objects, along with the other shapes in there such as the star.
in order to get the resize handles back onto the rectangular shapes, you have to convert them to path? why are these different?

Drag Bounding Box not going away

Hey guys,
I use photoshop about 12 hours everyday for design, so this is a pretty big issue for me:
After a while of working, when I use the move tool, the drag bounding box comes up and stays.
I've been advised in THIS THREAD to install the "DisableDragBoundingBox.plugin" from the optional plugins.
I did. I put it in the root plugins folder as well as the optional plugins folder within the plugins folder. But nothin' doin'. The box still shows up and annoys the hell out of me. It's too noticable on a 15" MBP.
Does anyone have this problem too? I can't stand having to restard photoshop 5000 times a day. Have i not installed the plugin correctly?

Okay, so far I've been running photoshop for a few hours and it didn't occur. I turned the OpenGL mode in advanced settings to Advanced and turned off Anti-Alias Guides & Paths. I bet this problem is because of OSX, because there's no reason why the graphics card should be whacking out on a stock 15" MBP purchased few months ago.
I'll write once more to confirm the disappearance of the problem.

Bounding Box Not Showing

My PS CS4 crashed the other night and erased all of my settings. Now, when I have a layer selected, I can't see the bounding box. I have checked auto-select, layer and checked show transform controls. I have view>extras checked as well. All I see are little tiny squares in each corner of the layer and in the middle of each side. I used to have a dashed line around the object and it is gone. give it a try.
i clicked on View -> hide Extras. I was hiding some guides as my lasso was sticking to it irritatingly. but i had no idea that hiding all would also take the boundry box of selected items.

In the itune store the search box not respond

The Itune Store is working but the search box has a problem you type in what your looking for and the recommendation list come up and you can click on it but
it will not respond.

On the albums that will not work with everything else suggested above, I get the artwork manually by searching on google for the album. When I see the album cover I will right click on the cover and and choose "save image as". After I save the image to my pictures directory I then go in to get into in itunes and manually attach the artwork. Right clicking on artwork in itunes store does not work.

Mail Box not responding

For some reason I cannot get my mail box to respond or sync with my .mac mail. I'm still receiving mail on .mac but cannot open my computer mail box... if that makes sense. Since my mail box is not responding I can get into the prefernces to see what's going on.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Verify that the user names and passwords are entered correctly.
Restoring from backup does not seem to always restore the password for email accounts.

My shift key is not responding again!!

The shift key has stopped responding. I've restarted many times. Help me

It's probably some dirt or something under the key.
Does it press down differently than the ones around it, perhaps a bit harder than normal? Gently lift up the edges and blow hard, or twist the end of a paper towel (till it's pointy) and push it around under there.

Sky box not responding to remote

Hi my sky box is intermittently working with my remote
i have now tried a new remote with the box and its still the same
the remote flashes every time you press it and it works my rv perfectly its just the sky box that takes 3 or 4 goes to get it to work

This is happening here now - the remote seems to be working in that the pilot light comes on when the button is pressed but nothing happens - the box is also not responsive to the buttons on the box itself. I've rebooted it a couple of times and it works for a bit of evening viewing but then will not wake up if left overnight. I've tried the "take one battery out etc" rountine and this has no effect. We have both a Toppy and a Mutant running as well and there has never been any trouble with interference and nothing else has changed in the local enviromment - our usual gaggle of wifi sources including our own and baby monitors next door etc etc Any suggestions team?

Check boxes not responding correctly in form.

I've created a form in forms central. Then I used XI to edit more fields. I have 7 check boxes grouped together. They are required and have a min. of 1 and max of 7. They are allowed to check as many as they wish. But when they hit the submission of the form it is allowing it to be submitted with those boxes left empty. What else can I do?

This is probably due to the following user preference: Acrobat > Preferences > Page Display > Rendering > Enhance thin lines
You should deselect it.

Bounding box in the way

I hope someone can help me with this. I'm using the Direct Selection Tool to edit a vector path but wanting to do so without a bounding box getting in the way. In Illustrator you can toggle the bounding box off/on, but seemingly not so in InDesign (I'm missing something here, aren't I?). I've checked Adobe's Video Workshop "vid0070: Making Selections" and Anne-Marie is clearly editing her vector path without a bounding box. But how?
All suggestions gratefully received.

I've included a screen shot with a newly drawn path. As you can see, with the the Direct Selection Tool in operation, it's now okay. No Bounding box around it as there would if the Selection Tool itself were selected. It wasn't doing this, which is why I started the thread in the first place – don't ask me why, except hazarding a guess, it was something to do with the Object Style setting.
Thanks for the Preferences file suggestion. Actually, I ditched it once a few weeks back because the Text Wrap pallette was behaving oddly. It cured that problem. I'll see how this goes over the next few days.

Bounding Box Problems

I am using Illustrator CS3. I have a document with art and text. When I click on a piece of art, there is a large bounding box (not really sure if that's what it's called) that encases the entire document and it's always attached to whatever piece of art I click on. Is there anyway to release any bouding boxes or maybe reveal what it actually is? I'm new to Illustrator and frustrated.

If you are seeing a bounding box with no object inside, then try setting a stroke color or fill color. You should see two color swatches in the top toolbar on the left. Clicking either of these will let you select a color. Left swatch is fill and right swatch is stroke.
