Illustrator CS3 crashes when I print on Mavericks operating system, adobe update manager doesnt connect to internet

Apple say its a compatibility issue with Mavericks and will probably work with updates, but the updater comes up with the error message "No internet connection.  Check internet settings/or firewall."  Any advice?

  • Illustrator CS3 crashing when print on epson 2100

I 'm newer to using illustrator CS3, actually when i print fron illustrator CS3 on Epson 2100 Inkjet it's crashing, application closed. I've trashed the .plist... i have created a new system account and the problem is resolved but after 4/5 press it is returned. Indesign CS3 and photoshop CS3 are ok. Mac OS X 10.5.4. MacPro.

I am not all that great with computers so I apologize in advance for my ignorance! The first thread you linked seems like would help but I don't even know how to get to where it's telling me to go...
"I had the same problem but this worked for me..
remove adobe PDF PPD from the following folders:
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_CN.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Ja.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/ko.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_TW.lproj,
then re start Illustrator and try printing again"
I got to the OS/Library/printers but then after that... I just see all my printers... nothing that says PPD or contents. This may be such a stupid question for you guys but again I am not great with this kind of stuff so thank in advance for any help! I am already so aggravated with lion, I am considering going back... ughh!

When I downloaded the Mavericks Operating system to my MAC computer, the mac stopped recognizing my T4i camera.  How do I fix this.

Apple has an article stating that your camera's digital RAW format is supported. I don't know if that implies the camera too.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5955
The Canon website says the drivers are either already installed or you don't need them for Mavericks.
They do have some updates for the Canon software.
Some more details of, "stopped recognizing my T4i camera," might be helpful.
If you are looking to transfer pictures/movies, can you just plug the card into the Mac or into a card reader?

  • Since installing Lion Adobe InDesign CS3 crashes when I print.

I upgraded to Lion yesterday and, now that I am at work, I find that InDesign CS3 (5.0.4) crashes when I print. It doesn't hang...it just pops. My printer drivers (for our Xerox WC7775, with Fiery) no longer work for my other applications (Word, BBEdit). To get CS3 to work I installed Java Runtime through the automatic installer.
Upgrading to CS5.5 is not possible, as our whole office is on CS3.
Is there anything I can do?

Well, I strongly feel it is an Apple issue. Granted I should have done more research before I upgraded, but I (naively) thought that Lionwould be another instance of Apple improving their product, and enhancing its capabilities. In this I was wrong. But then why produce an OS that's incompatible with a large block of your user base?
    (1) OS-makers set the rules, and it is incumbent on them tobehave in a gentlewomanly/manly fashion. It seems inconceivable that it's in Apple's best interests to prevent Adobe products from working. Yet that seems to be the case here. It's like Bloom returning home in Joyce's Ulysses: it's dark and all the furniture has been moved.
And fellow-software makers should help each other out: when there's a flood in anoffice building (as there is here) everyone drops what they're doing to pitchin.
Maybe this was all a product of a *******-match between Adobe and Apple(recall the PDF support issues on the iPad), but from a users' perspective this is irrelevant. It's the argument that was made in the Financial Times recently about the fall of Netflix: Customers don't give a fig what your internal business priorities are, they want the products that they bought from you to work and be priced well.
    (2) The very kludgy work-arounds to this issue, involving deleting or hiding PPDs in the system library (specifically inOS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/), suggest that what is causing the InDesign CS3.x to crash is minor in nature. I.e. a patch could easily bewritten.
    (3) Adobe CS3.x applications are the first generation of "Universal" apps. Okay, maybe their implementation was not ideal (as this shows) but they were written to the rules at Apple laid out for them, rules that are still in place now. As with my first point (1) it's unfair to change the rules on Adobe after the fact.
    (4) Who could expect that the step from 10.6.x 10.7.1 (the.1 presumably meaning that some initial kinks had been worked out) would be so traumatic? We are not talking here about a step from Classic or PPC. (I remember these, but because they were structural changes everyone, at some level, was prepared for the change.) This is not about getting Rosetta to work on 10.7.
    (5) We are not talking about a minor set of applications here either. Considering the long-standing use of Macs by the design community, in print, production, and photo, the support of Adobe apps should have been aconsideration for Apple. But when you look at the list of issues with this upgrade (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/905/cpsid_90508.html) it's hair-raisingly long. And note these are CS5.5 apps: the very newest software you can get from Adobe. If part of your argument is that it's incumbent on people to keep their software up-to-date, then here's a set of OS issues that are affecting users of software that was released just this spring.
    (6) Even if Adobe CS5.5 was fully supported (see (5)), it's unreasonable to expect everyone to upgrade all of their software packages each time the OS is upgraded (as opposed to completely revised: again, as in (4)10.6.x was not Classic). All of my personal software is up-to date, but I cannot say the same of my clients and my employer: they hold to older computers and software packs as long as they can because the software was so expensive.CS5.5 Design Premium is $1900. For any organization this is a big chunk of cash to doll out regularly. My employer is a non-profit: should they replace their software because I have upgraded my laptop? Or should I stop upgrading my software because they can't afford to get CS5.5 (even if it was properly supported)?
And, what if we buy a new Mac? Presumably this will come with Lion. It's clear with this that this is no longer a $4000 proposition, but a $10,000 proposition, since all the other copies of CS3.x would have to be upgraded.

  • PS-CS3 Crashing when choosing "Print..."

    I have an early 2008 Mac Intel with 16-Gig of RAM running 10.5.3 and CS3 Design Premium.<br /><br />All of a sudden today when I try to print to my Epson 7800 Photoshop CS3 Crashes.<br /><br />I repaired Permisions - same thing.<br />I reinstalled all new Epson Driver, etc. - same thing.<br />I tried printing from AICS3 and it crashed<br />I tried printing again from Photoshop to a B&W laser printer (not an Epson) and it printed fine, so I am guessing it is only a problem with the Epson software<br />I then transferred a file and I was able to print to the Epson 7800 from my Laptop still running Tiger.<br /><br />Here is the first part of the crash report I am getting... any ideas?<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><br /><!DOCTYPE AdobeCrashReport SYSTEM "AdobeCrashReporter.dtd"><br /><crashreport version="1.1" crVersion="2.5.0.02272007" applicationName="Photoshop" applicationVersion="10.0.1" build="10.0.1 &#40;10.0.1x20071012 [20071012.r.1644 2007/10/12&#58;09&#58;30&#58;00 cutoff; r branch]&#41;,  ©1990-2007 Adobe Systems Incorporated"><br />     <time year="2008" month="6" day="27" hour="13" minute="35" second="41" /><br />     <user guid="0D54FFD3-69BF-47C8-9222-36A3BE85C4B0" /><br />     <system platform="macintosh" osversion="10.5.3" applicationlanguage="en" userlanguage="en" oslanguage="en_US" ram="16384MB" machine="i386" model="MacPro3,1" cpuCount="8" cpuFreq="2800MHz" busFreq="1600MHz" /><br />     <crash exception="Read Only Memory Exception" instruction="1489028b"><br />          <backtrace crashedThread="0"><br />               <thread index="0"><br />                    <stackStatement index="0" address="0x46714629" symbolname="unknown"/><br />                    <stackStatement index="1" address="0x46716968" symbolname="unknown"/><br />                    <stackStatement index="2" address="0x29ecea56" symbolname="unknown"/><br />                    <stackStatement index="3" address="0x490c21c1" symbolname="_AskUserForFile"/><br />                    <stackStatement index="4" address="0x490c16d1" symbolname="_AskUserForFile"/><br />                    <stackStatement index="5" address="0x490b6051" symbolname="unknown"/><br />                    <stackStatement index="6" address="0x490b658a" symbolname="unknown"/><br />                    <stackStatement index="7" address="0x490b4aea" symbolname="unknown"/>

I don't know much about this, but I would guess this
    "Read Only Memory Exception"
is what you need to figure out. I would guess Photoshop is trying to write the print data to a directory that is inappropriately set to read only. (but that is just a guess.)
You could try repairing permissions, but as i understand, the OS repair permissions doesn't get at everything that is necessary for the printing system.
Printer Setup Repair is a utility that can check and reset all sorts of things related to the Mac OS X printing system. I just checked their web site, it is not yet available for 10.5.
    http://www.fixamacsoftware.com/software/psr5/index.php
Since it is not yet ready for 10.5, I would probably send that error message to Epson tech support.

  • Illustrator CS3 crashes when trying to place an item

I'm running CS3 on an iMac running OS 10.5.8.
Just recently (the past few days) my Illustrator has been crashing when I attempt to place a file. I've attempted to place a variety of files (.jpg, .eps, .PSD) and usually Illustrator would crash after selecting the file to be placed. Now it is crashing upon selecting 'Place' from the 'File' menu.
I attempted this fix (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402521.html) and it did not resolve the issue. I also checked to see if possible it was trying to open a directory that no longer exists when I choose 'Place' from the 'File' menu, but that also is not the issue.
Any input on what could be wrong? Thank you!

Thank you for that link! While none of the 'technical' suggestions worked (replacing files in the Version Cue folders in Library/Application Support) a lower-tech solution has seemed to work. Simple disable Version Cue in the preferences panel of Illustrator (I'm not using it anyway). So far so good! Who would have known such a low-tech solution would work!
Thanks again & I'll report if this seems to be a permanent solution or not. I just find it strange that Illustrator just started behaving this way when I don't believe Adobe Updater has updated my CS3 in over a month.

  • Illustrator CS3 crashes when changing locations during save or place. Mac, Yosemite

After updating to Yosemite and fixing the initial problem of not being able to open Illustrator (installing older Java). Illustrator now crashes every time I try to select a location to save a file. If I save without changing the file location it's not an issue. It also crashes when I want to PLACE a file and I try to navigate to the location.
MacBook Pro (2012), OSX 10.10.2 (Yosemite).
Adobe Illustrator CS3 (Yeah, I know).
Changing fonts doesn't seem to be a problem. Large files are OK. It's only when navigating to a location using a drop down menu in the SAVE AS or PLACE dialog box.
Any ideas of what might be wrong?

New information: I switched to the adobe dialog format and it fixed my issue. I'm leaving this here in case anyone else runs into this. However, I wouldn't mind finding out why it won't work the the OS dialog.

However I try to open any illustrator file the app crashes. Has been running smoothly for ages. Have run through suggested things like removing prefs - and have reinstalled from disk but still the same problem... HELP

  • Illustrator cs3 crashes when I save on a PC

I am a student and i am working on illustrator cs3 and a couple of days ago, i tried to save my work and the program freezed.  Since i didn't have any response form the program i had to end its task.  Can somebody help me fix this problem since i have to finish my work for the mid-terms that are coming up very soon?
    a.

    a,
Another suggestion: Preference corruptions create many strange issues.
You may try to Ctrl+Alt+Shift during startup of Illy, or use the instructions in the hint Move the folder.
The former is simpler, the latter is capable of solving more issues, and it reversible so you do not lose your preference settings in vain if it does not work.

  • Illustrator CS3 crashes when selecting a swatch from the swatches palette

Hello, i am using a G5 platform to run CS3. in any file i open or create, when i try to apply a swatch to an object, the second i select it from the swatches palette, my Illustrator crashes. In other words, i can't work at all.
I've tried trashing the preferences, restarting the computer, nothing seems to work.
    Help?
    thanks.

    When trashing your preferences
    1. Did you first quit Illustrator?
    2. Did you trash the whole Adobe Settings folder or just the preference file?
    3. Did you run the color sync utility to see if you have corrupt color profiles.
    4. Did you repair the Permission with the disk utility
    5. Did you check to see if you have corrupt fonts?

  • Illustrator CS6 crashes when choosing printer from menu

    Hi,
We just got a new computer installed and Illustrator CS6 is set on Adobe PDF in print menu. When we try to change it to our printer in the drop down list, Illustrator crashes. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Laura C

    You are welcome, Laura.
I was hoping it was not that.
Maybe you should hope it is: it could be something worse.
I hope you will report your findings.

  • Illustrator CS3 crashing when opening file

Whenever I open any AI file the file instantly closes before I can do anything to it.
It started when I was working on a project and tried to save it and it said "an unknown error has occured" and I'm pretty sure its because I had the Zune software open and Zune and AI don't get along
So I lost all of my work, but now I can't even open what I already had done because it crashes
I heard that fonts can cause this issue, I worked on my project on a Mac with different fonts then transfered it over to my PC and of course it couldn't find them so it just replaced them with a font that my PC knew
    could this relate to anything?
What can I do so that AI will be able to open my files? thank you!

    Jet,
Have you tried creating a new document and placing the troublesome file in it (ticking Paste Remembers Layers in the Layers flyout options)?
Otherwise, you may try to Move the folder or look at the Other options

  • InDesign CS3 crashes when I export a PDF. I have updated it to 5.0.4 but it still crashed. I bought it as part of the Design Premium pack. How do I uninstall InDesignCS3 and reinstall the original software?

Hi, the title says it all
I've been trying to find out on the Adobe site how to uninstall CS3 Design Premium and then reinstall the original software in the hope that this will eliminate the crashing problem, which only started yesterday.
You're help will be very much appreciated.
    Alison

Run the cleaner tool and reinstall.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Just be aware that none of this will matter if you are using a newer version of e.g. Acrobat that by ways of updates may introduce/ have introduced an incompatible version of one of the PDF libraries commonly shared and used by all Adobe programs. you have to tread lightly and be careful...

  • Illustrator CS4  Crashes when Printing.

My Illustrator CS4 Crashes when I try to print.... Can Anybody Print with 10.7 and Illustrator CS4 ?

I had a similar problem.  Just installed 10.7.2 and found i couldnt print using my old verison of CS3.  So i went to the Adobe page and found the following solution (copied straight from the site).
    Issue
Printing from InDesign CS3 or CS4, or Illustrator CS3 or CS4 on Apple OS 10.7 (code named Lion) results in the Adobe application crashing. Acrobat 8.x is also installed, or was installed on the system previously.
    Solution
The following workaround can be applied to get these older versions of Illustrator and InDesign to print on this newer operating system. Remove the following files and back them up:
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_CN.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Ja.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/ko.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_TW.lproj
    Additional information
Creative Suite 3.x and 4.x applications were not designed to function under this newer version of the Mac OS, so some issues can affect them. Upgrading to the latest versions of these applications ensures that you achieve maximum compatibility with the new OS.
