Illustrator CS4 Link palette not listing embedded filenames

According to online Help, the Links palette should list names and paths of both embedded and linked files. However, I'm not seeing any embedded filenames or paths:
WinXP Intel Core Duo 3 GHz 3 GB RAM.
I saw a thread about this for a CS3 user, but didn't see any resolution to the problem.

I do not see this as a problem at all. If you embed a psd or tif (formats which support layers) and choose the "convert layers to objects" option and if your image can't be represented as one single embedded image, then it will break into two or more parts in the Links panel. Even if you choose the "flatten layers to a single image" option it might break your image into two or more parts. Depends entirely on your original image. If your image can be represented as one single embedded image, you will not encounter this behavior. You do not see this in your jpg images because jpgs do not support layers, afaik - it is a flat file format.
Nothing has changed in Illustrator CS5 in this aspect. So I don't see how upgrading to CS5 will make a difference. But if you really want to experience the wonderful feature set of CS5 like Beautiful Strokes, Bristle Brush, Perspective Grid, Drawing enhancements, Clean sharp graphics for Web, and a host of other splendid features, then you must surely upgrade.

You're right. I guess I missed those. I'll look into whether this is an appropriate place for such discussions -- it strikes me as incongruous that SDK issues can be publicly discussed about a product that is under NDA for those regular users who are in the testing program.

Adobe Illustrator CS4 - Shortcut keys not working

The short cut keys on my adobe illustrator cs4 programme have stopped working. I am working on a Mac OSX 10.9.2 . Can anyone help? I have tried reinstalling but it hasn't helped. I recently installed a wacom device would this have anything to do with it?Adobe CS4

Have you installed the newest Wacom driver?
Did you use the full three step way?
Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall?

Illustrator CS4 Swatch Palette Issues

It seems as though the same issues that came with CS3 are now haunting me in CS4. Every time I close Illustrator my pantone swatch library disappears. This is causing a major issue being that every time I restart, close Illustrator or do an update my pantone colors vanish. Not very good for production or turn around time being that I have to do the following steps on every start: re-select the pantone color book/solid coated matte/turn on small list view/redock in swatch library palette/turn on persistent. I am wondering why Adobe would not have double checked this issue, being that there are many issues mentioned like this with CS3. Anyone else experiencing this, or know of a way to fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Of course you could be on windows and it could be a platform specific issue though it seems odd that all this time has passed and it is the first we are hearing about it.

Illustrator CS4 Action Palette bug

Does anyone know if the action palette bug has been addressed? I saw a thread from Nov 2008 that confirmed I am not an isolated incident. I can't get all the steps in my action to save when I reopen Illustrator. Particularly "show all layers". I am working in 10.4.11, and I don't see any Illustrator updates available to me at this time. Thanks!

Illustrator CS4 image resolution not downsizing

Hi, I'm new on this forum but hope someone can help. Had a look around and can't find anyone else with this problem...
Just had AI CS4 put onto a new machine and I've imported my previous presets for saving PDFs for print.
In the "Save Adobe PDF" box, under "Compression", it's marked as it always was as Bicubic downsampling to 300ppi for images above 300ppi for colour and grayscale images (compression automatic (JPEG); image quality maximum).
However, it's not actually doing this. The images are remaining at the resolution they have been dropped in at (some at 1000 dpi), making the file sizes huge. I've had a play about with the settings and it's never changing the resolution.
Any help would be gratefully received! Many thanks in advance,

No offense intended but the truth is you should be dropping the image files in at the resolution you intend to use them in the first place.
For most Offset projects that would be 255 ppi although some printers require as high as 355 ppi. Inever understood the latter spec though.
And for inkge that is way too big 200 ppi would be more thn enough.
I know this answer you want but it would be wise to change your workflow.
As for your actually question I have no cle as to what might be happening.

I am using Illustrator CS and for some reason there is no option to view my tool palette. I have searched every option in illustrator but there is no option for the tool palette. I can't figure out what the problem is. It is hard to use illustrator without the tool palette. Please Help me resolve this problem

Illustrator cs4 file will not open!

I created a cs4 .ai file yesterday and today it won't open? No error message, no warning, wristwatch for a while then nothing! It won't open using cs3 either. file is 9.5 megs, no weird type, 4 embedded photo's, no pantone, just a basic CMYK 4.5 x 11.3125 ad for a client.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do other files open? Did you try deleting your prefs? (start up illy holding command-option-shift and it will prompt you)

Illustrator CS4 Text Rotation not working as it has in the past

When I attempt to rotate a text element, the text does not rotate along with the textbox that it was created inside. Instead, it always stays at the top of the text box and moves left/right (I hope that is an accurate description). Anyone know what is going on with this?

I think I know what it is happening in this case.... I have time and was trying to reproduce the issue..
1. Here I have a text and a text inside a container (Block text)
2. Here I use the rotate tool, every thing goes as expected
3. Here I used the free Transform tool. and as you can see, that tool rotates the container but not the text itself, so that's the "problem"...
use the rotate tool instead the transfor tool...

CS4 printing does not list tabloid page size

Mac OS: Snow Leopard
Printer: HP Deskjet 9300
Driver: Gutenberg v.5.2.3
I'm attempting to print a picture that is 11 x 17 inches. When I choose page size, the choices are enormous but oddly enough there is no 11 x 17. I went ahead and customized this size and highlighted it. However, when the picture prints, it only prints to an 8.5 x 11 page size.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the info.
I deleted the printer and reinstalled the HP Deskjet 9300 software that came with the printer.
A couple of things: in the printer setup there is a selection of available drivers to choose from. One of them is HP Deskjet 9300 - Gutenprint v5.2.3. So this is the only driver choice with Snow Leopard.
I then went to the HP website and it turns out that they have stopped updating product support and drivers for earlier models, causing much anger with HP's customers. So I shot off an email to the CEO of HP, Mr. Hurd. (a lot of good that'll do)
So my printer is useless in CS4.
Won't purchase another HP printer again.

Illustrator CS4 Fails Display Font List In Yosomite, but displays Individual Font Family Names, I scroll down to about where I think it should be then check each font family till I find Correct one. As I am cutting back on work load in preparation for retirement, I have deleted my Font Manager rather than upgrading it to Yosomite and reverted to "Font Book".

Just discovered what appears to be the fix on another website. It was a fix for CF5 but it appears to work just fine for CS4 as we;
Open the Mac OS X System Preferences and head to ‘Accessibility.’ Once you are in there, select ‘Display’ from the left-hand list and then check the checkbox that says “Reduce transparency.”

Process not listed in Workspace when domain is webcenter enabled

I am trying to integrate Process Space with BPM 11g. I have installed SOA, BPM, Webcenter and have also created a domain which has all these enabled. I have linked discussion, wiki and content to the web center space and also can see the process space. I am able to successfully deploy my BPM application too.
But when I try to access it through the process workspace, I find that the process link is not listed under the applications. I am able to deploy the same process and use the process successfully if the domain does not contain webcenter. Log has the following information :

Yes I tried to open it in interactive reporting webclient,and I was successful in processing it.Where as I am facing the Issue when I tried to open it in html view.
Version of IR: 11.1.2.2
Do we have any specific logs for html view?if yes,what is the path of that logs in IR installed server?

PSD Spot Color Channels in Illustrator CS4

Hi all.
Screenprinter here. Trying to migrate my way into CS4. No such
luck so far.
Way back in Illustrator CS2 I used to be able to place a PSD file with Spot Channels,
and have each channel show up as a separate object in Illustrator. This was incredibly
useful, nay, necessary for creating/laying out separations and adding vector work.
From what I've read and tried, this is no longer possible in CS4, which leaves me running two versions,
which is no fun.
I suppose my question is, has anyone come up with a workaround for this, or does the newest
release support this type of operation? From reading the boards, I've found that I'm not nearly
the only person who needs this feature, and so would hope that there is an alternative to
running CS2 still.
Us poor lowly screen printers get dumped on by nearly all Adobe products in terms of usability
(ever shoot the stock reg marks from photoshop?) give us this one feature!

In Illustrator CS2, the individual Spot Channels from Photoshop used to become Opacity masks when imported.
In Illustrator CS4, they are not converted to Opacity masks. Your spot colors are still there - look in the Swatches panel. There is a Spot channels image in the layers panel with 100% Multiply blend mode applied to it.
So it is not correct to say that it is no longer possible to bring spot channels from Photoshop into the Illustrator CS4. See the comparison snapshots below.

I have just upgraded to Yosemite and cannot place psd or tif images to Illustrator CS4. I need a high resolution image with a transparent background for print. Surely there is a fix for this.

Illustrator CS4 Type Tool: Selecting won't work by double click or click and drag.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but suddenly my Type Tool can not select type by double clicking or click and drag any more.
I'm using Illustrator CS4 (14.0.0) on a MacPro with OSX 10.6.8. Can someone please suggest what might be happening and how to resolve this problem?

There is a functional reason for this depending on how you work if you read yup about it in the help files i think they explain it well as i recalled it was exxplained well in the manual when they had one.
It is not a change it has been this way for a long time and the options serve different users in a helpful way. hough it wwould be helpful to have a toggle of some kind.
