Illustrator CS4 won't start

Illustrator CS4 won't start.
Seems to do this every time I have not used it for a while.
Acrobat 9 has same issue

We can't know. You have not provided any system info. From incompatibility with operating system updates to otehr tools blocking components to system restore damaging the installation anything is possible.

  • Illustrator CS4 won't start, even after reïnstalling.

I reïnstalled the whole Suite but Illustrator still won't start. When I try to open Illustrator the orange windows pops up and you see that parts are being loaded but then it shuts down and is gone. I'm on Windows8.

it can't hurt to try downloaded installation files.
again, uninstall and clean before installing.

  • Illustrator CS4 won't start in Win 7

    The scenario:
    - Brand new Win 7 machine; brand new CS4 Web Premium purchase
    - All windows updates and Adobe updates performed
    - All Adobe products start up fine, Illustrator doesn't; it just hangs; I don't even get the splash screens at all to tell me that it is even attempting to load something. The computer freezes; ctrl+alt+del will freeze as well. The only way to get out of it is to power off the computer with the power button
** This only happens with Illustrator, all other products/apps work fine***
    Any ideas? Similar situations? Recommendations?
    Thanks,
    Mitch

Not a bothersome question but I think it is a problem that has been posted elsewhere on the web.
you can try this as wll.
Quoted from Mylenium in a similar thread.
Check +C:\Users\[You]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings\+. Delete/ Move the folder to some otehr location and have AI re-create all user settings. If that doesn't help, you may have a permissions problem somewhere.
    Might work for you.
there might be a fix on the Microsoft site I believe a patch.

  • Adobe Illustrator CC won't start!

Adobe Illustrator CC won't start. It immediately crashes. Already uninstalled Wacom software, but that's not the problem, still doesn't start. I'm using the trial version of CC to see if everything works before i buy the software. I also have CS6 Design & Web premium installed, never had problems with this software. Someone knows how to fix?
    Thanks in advance!

  • CS4 won't start up on my new computer. The error message I get is "Licensing for this product has stopped working."

CS4 won't start up on my new computer. The error message I get is "Licensing for this product has stopped working."  Both the old and new computer are MACs and the error code I get is 150:30.  It says to restart the computer or open another application in the suite, but neither helps.  It says if nothing helps to contact Adobe support, but this is the only way I'm given to contact adobe support.  Can I really not use my purchased software on my new computer?  What do I do to activate the license on the new computer?

  • AE CS4 Won't Start on Multi-Core System

I use an older version of After Effects (AE CS4).  I recently built a new workstation that is bootable into different choices of multicore (up to 40 cores).
I can successfully start AE CS4 on the boot configs up to 16 cores.  But above that, AE CS4 won't start.  It won't even show the splash screen (but the AfterFX_32.exe process does appear in Task Manager).
Just wondering if there is any way to get AE CS4 to run on configs with more than 16 cores?
    Thanks for any ideas!

No. There is no way because at the time operating systems did not allow to use more cores and thus the underlying system libraries down to the C/C++ code cannot handle it.

  • Illustrator CS4 Crashes At Start Up

I start Illustrator CS4 and it doesn't want to open past updating font menu.  I can get the program to work when I delete the AI preferences, and the font caches, and restarting, but it only is a temporary fix because it will happen again even in the same day.  Any suggestions, I haven't installed any new fonts or anything.
It often freezes up too and won't let me use my task manager.  I use windows xp.

Having the same issue.  Suddenly CS4 Illustrator was crashing after splash screen after working fine for many months.
I installed the trial for CS5 after no solution was found and now neither will stay open past the splash screen.

  • Illustrator CS4 crashes when starting

Hi All! I need help with my Illustrator CS4. I recently installed it on my Macbook Pro running Yosemite and every time I try starting the software I get a message telling me that something is wrong with two of the plugins "PhotoshopExport.aip & PhotoshopImport.aip". Then it freezes and I have to reboot my computer to cancel the message. Photoshop and InDesign runs perfect! What is there to do?
    Thanks in advance!

    Iversen,
What happens if you startup Photoshop, then startup Illy?

  • Illustrator CS4 won't download from Adobe site

    Hello!
I would appreciate some help. I bought Photoshop and Illustrator CS4 for Mac on disc a few years ago and have since lost the discs in one of my moves. I want to install them both on a different Mac so I found where to download directly from Adobe (http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs4-product-downloads.html). I clicked on on the link to download Illustrator File 1 of 1 for Mac OS X and it initialized a download but after waiting half an hour nothing had actually downloaded (it was still stuck at 0 of ___). I cancelled it and clicked on the link to download Photoshop and it instantly started downloading and I had the program installed in a few hours. Went back to Illustrator and tried again, but the same thing happened (as in, nothing actually downloaded). I don't see what I can possibly be doing wrong and can't find a way to actually contact Adobe, and I would love some help - I really just want to get this set up!
    Thank you so much!

  • Illustrator CS4 won't open any files since installing CS6

Every since I installed CS6, whenever I try to open files in Illustrator (all files, not just the new downsaved from CS6 files), the program goes into "Not Responding" and I can't do anything until I crash out. It also will not let me create new files.
I've tried deleting my Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder as I saw suggested in another discussion, but it did not help.
Since my CS6 trial is ending soon and I'm not sure about upgrading yet, I really need my CS4 to be functional.
I'm running WIndows Vista 64 bit. Never had any problems with Illustrator before this.
    Any suggestions?

Ok, so I uninstalled Illustrator CS4, ran the CS Cleaner Tool, which messed up all my other CS4 programs, reinstalled the whole CS4 Suite, and Illustrator CS4 STILL won't open files (or allow me to create new ones). I only have two days left on my CS6 trial and I'm not sure if I'm upgrading right away, so I really need to figure out a way to make my AI CS4 work soon!

  • Illustrator CS4 Crash on start up

    Please help,
Just installed a Creative suite 4 Design premium on Mac 2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (2GB RAM...) OS X 10.5
can anybody explain what is the difference between Try-out and this original software which I bought last month?
The Try-out works absolutely fine but from the suit Illustrator Crashes immediatly after start.
so we uninstall - reinstall nothing works, so we reinstall the whole system (Erase and install) update everything, reinstall the whole creative suite update too, and the Illustrator still not work.
So I uninstall it, download the Try-out again installed it and "WORKS" so we need only a serial number for it !
    How can we get it?
    Thanks for response.
    Peter

ok, then if I reinstall the system (Erase and install option) it doesn't erase everything?
so 1. We Try the Try-out version  - works
    2. we decide to buy it
    3. Reinstall the system (clear everything)
    4. Install the CS4 suite
    5. Everything ok, Illustrator crash
    6. uninstall Illustrator
    7. Install the Try-out - and WORKS (for 30 days as try-out so we need it serialize)
    what is the next step?
    thanks
ps: we didn't activate the trial version

  • Illustrator CS4 crashes after start-up.... PLEASE HELP!!

Every time I open Illustrator CS4, it seems as if it is going to open normally.... the program interface starts to build.... and then the little start up box starts to load... and then POOF!!! it closes itself in a split second out of NOWHERE. why is this happening and can anyone help me??? please!! I love illustrator CS4 and have gotten quite used to features such as live trace and as I can't find any other type of program that has a feature like that for instantly and elegantly turning bitmaps into vectors, I am currently stuck in the middle of all my projects!!!! please help me....

so how do i disable/ delete the fonts that may be causing the problem? i don't know how to do that, even tho i've tried numerous times to the best of my knowledge ever since you told me it could be the cause. also, i haven't installed any fonts, so could that still be the problem?
    Probably not.
what do you mean by a "scratch disk"?
In the Illustrator Preferences there is a setting for a scratch disk I d not know how you access the preferences on a PC someone else will have to help you with this what is a hard disk space allocated as a kind of virtual memory
for the tasks you are doing in Illustrator it is good to have a dedicated partition with enough free clear continuous space to absorb the amount of work that is being asked of Illustrator.
One of the reasons for this is that Illustrator has unlimited undos available to it so all the work done by Illustrator in a given session has to written somewhere in a sort of cache file this can take a lot of space and if it is not continuous
it has to piece all this together and that sometimes causes problems. It would probably be a good feature to free up this cache or virtual memory other than quitting and relaunching. So that is what this is all about the scratch disk.
and how do i trash my preferences?
Trash the prefs: +C:\Users\[your name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Illustrator+ on Win Vista.
i'm running windows xp and i've tried to find out how to do all this but all the instructions i find are for mac
In your case I believe it is in the C:/Documents and Settings but you have to look a little further down the hierarchy.
please help and thanks for everything....
Perhaps Mylenium or some one else can direct you to where you have to go on XP.
Also it just occurred to me…did you activate the application? If you did not it will always crash on startup.

  • Illustrator CC won't start: "Can't print the illustration. Disk full error has ocurred while printing"

This is a MBP Yosemite. I've been using Illustrator CC for a while now, no problems.
When I click ok it quits and then a "crash log" appears. It's long, I guess it contains the explanation but I can't figure it out, I uploaded it: Process: Adobe Illustrator [540] Path: /Applicat - Pastebin.com
I've tried the font cache cleaning thing with that "nuke" free tool and then rebooted, but nothing.
    Please help!

    Hi Larry,
Like I said (and you can see the screenshot, really) the program won't event start. So there's no operation I'm trying to do since illustrator crashes right when is loading itself. Not trying to print anything at all. Not even opening through an *.ai file, just trying to fire up the app itself.
I just tried opening an *.ai file, same outcome.
I have about 20GB of free space right now (i've used AI with far less free space, that's why the error makes no sense to me).
I did not reinstall the app after the update, but I did use it without a problem on Yosemite already.

  • Illustrator CS4 won't open

I recently got a brand new 27 inch Imac, and put CS4 on it. Every program in the suite and even Lightroom work great, EXCEPT illustrator.
The load screen some on, and when it gets to initializing plug ins "PDF suite" it ALWAYS crashes.
I've created new users, i've trashed all corrupt and duplicate fonts, i've opened in safe mode and downloaded 3rd party files to clear the font cache, i've deleted the settings folder and the com.adobeblahblah.pls file. I've repaired file permissions. I've installed, reinstalled, and done the same with multiple different dmg files. NOTHING I've read so far works. One thing it HAS done however is make my Airport rather unstable.
Needless to say, it's insanely frustrating to buy a brand new computer, just to have to still use the old mac book for all designing needs.
please, any other tips someone has would be incredible. I'm about to throw this off the roof.

This is what I would do under these conditions.
    deactivate the suites
go to Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers and use the removal application to uninstall the suite
I would then wipe the sytem and reinstall it
I would then update the system using the software updater
I would then before installing any thing else install the suite
then launch Illustrator all should be fine, unless of course you decide not to follow the instruction which means you cannot load your fonts or third party plug ins or system utilities or hacks etc.
You have to launch Illustrator first. And do nothing else.
Your third part y stuff and or fonts are causing the problem more that likely after you have successfully launch Illustrator you can load the other stuff. after you load or install a software launch Illustrator to see which one causes the problem then uninstall that app or font and all should be fine.
That is what I would do.

  • Mac: Illustrator CS4 errors when starting up

I just upgraded from CS2 to CS4 and Illustrator now has about 10 errors that pop-up when it loads. It hangs on the splash screen for a couple of minutes, then I'll get several "The operation cannon complete because of an unknown error [>MIT]" and "Filter cannon complete becasue doing so would exceed the maximum number of anchor points allowed for a path" (I'm not trying to open a file, just the program), & "The filter cannon complete because of an unknown error." Finally a dialog pops-up that says "Error loading plugins" with a list of several plugin:
    DropShadow.aip
    DxfDwg.aip
    EraserTool.aip
    EyeBucketTool.aip
    Find.aip
    Liquify.aip
    OffsetPath.aip
    PNGFileFormat.aip
    PhotoshopExport.aip
    Save For Web(AI).aip
The splash screen then just hangs there.
I deleted all components of CS2 before upgrading (according to the Adobe website), tried updating Illustrator (there are no updates), deleting the prefs file, the plist file, repairing permissions, uninstalling Illustrator (using the uninstaller) and reinstalling. Same results.
    Anyone have any thoughts?

    Wee,
You are not alone, Adobe has been criticized severely right from the beginning about its installers, but Adobe just do not care enough to fix anything.
But Adobe will sell you the CS5 due by April next year! Because Adobe does not provide updates, just sell you lousy versions.
Here is a work-around solution that could help you: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406241.html
    I hope this helps!
