Illustrator cs5 selecting issue in mountain lion

I'm having a strange issue using illustrator cs5 after updating to mountain lion. I have a line of text that I rotated and copied several times so it resembles an asterisc shape * (3 lines of type fanned out over a central point). When I select 1 line of type, 2 or more lines are selecting. It happens even if I try to click in an empty area of the file (white space). The kicker is that it even happens in outline view (even in the white space). Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Not sure what is happening, but a workaround might be to put each line of type on its own layer, then lock and/or hide layers you don't want to select.

  • Tap to click not working properly in Mountain Lion. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

The tap to click does not work with mountain lion as it did before the mountain lion install. I purchased a brand new imac in August of 2011 and got a wireless keyboard and selected the wireless trackpad instead of a mouse.  The trackpad worked wonderful pre upgrade with tap to click. Now after the install of the newest beast, I have to actually press the trackpad rather than a slight tap. I have carpel tunnel and this is causing great stress upon my hand. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

Perhaps, I was not clear enough.
I have an imac purchased in Aug. 2011 which came with Lion 10.6 (two uprades before mountain lion)
Recently, I just purchased a macbook pro retina with Mountain Lion
On my imac, my settings allowed me to "tap to click" everything EXCEPT the initial log in at the star up of my imac, again running Lion 10.6
On my macbook pro retina which has Mountain Lion, I set up the "tap to click" option, but notice that a "hard" click was neccessary when trying to click things. I thought this was a macbook thing (my first one) so I went and upgraded my imac to Mountain LIon, BIG MISTAKE! Now both my imac AND my macbook only have limited "tap to click" options. Before mountain lion I could "tap" to highlight and select text, tap and drag, and many other thiings that Mountain Lion has disabled.
I am truly surprised that no one has noticed this MAJOR issue.
Is there a way to uninstall this update, similar to how on a PC you can go back to a restore point.
On another note even the way PREVIEW has changed is less user friendly, there used to be icons on the bottom right corner of the screen, now I have to double tap and select the option I would like to switch between contacts and thumbnails. This is really annoying and is causing me time when reviewing files.
Just in case anyone was wondering, I did go to system preferences -> trackpad -> select tap to click
In fact almost all of the trackpad functions have been selected.

  • Start up Issues with Mountain Lion?

Having start up issues with Mountain Lion. Gray Screen and nothing happens.

If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all. Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is on a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways: ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.) ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens. ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid. Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the entire contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post shutdownStall, spin, or hang reports.

  • Has Apple done anything to address the issue of Mountain Lion's inability to support Epson printers? I have a Stylus Photo RX620 that now is useless. I am not a computer geek so would rather not try to do an uninstall of Mt. Lion and go back to S.Leopard

Has Apple done anything to address the issue of Mountain Lion's inability to support Epson printers? I have a Stylus Photo RX620 that now is useless. I am not a computer geek so would rather not try to do an uninstall of Mt. Lion and go back to S.Leopard

Have you tried to open System Preferences, then Print & Scan and then try to Add + a printer?
I have an Epson RX580 and am using OS X 10.8.2 and it is working as a (Bonjour) printer.  My Epson RX580 is plugged into my AirPort Extreme and I can print over my wireless network to the RX580.  However, I do not see any Scan options with this setup.
Anyone know anything about getting the scanning portion of the RX580 to work over the network like the printing function does with my Airport Extreme?  Or can I not "share" a scanner over the USB port on the Airport Extreme?  I know, kind on topic/off topic - but I think it fits under OS questions better.
    Thanks for your advice!

  • TS1550 Time Machine issue with Mountain Lion.  Can you help?

I have an Iomega Mac Companion used as an external backup drive for my Imac running Mountain Lion. After launching Time Machine, I got an error message that said the backup couldn't' be completed because an error occurred while creating the backup folder.  I rebooted and everything was fine for 24 hours.  Since then, I get the same error message even after another reboot.  In Time Machine preferences it says "oldest backup none" and "latest backup none."
    Any suggestions?
    GR

Finally have it solved!!  Sort of...  I spoke with Mac support on two occasions and they were extremely helpful.  Thought the issue was with the firewire 800 connection.  Switched to a USB connection and everything worked great...for about 24 hours.  Then had the same error messages.  Chatted with Iomega tech support and they finally admitted that there are known issues with Mountain Lion, there is no work around and they have no intention of making it compatible with 10.8.
I'm returning the drive today.  Thanks for your help and suggestions.  Suggestions for a decent back up hard drive that will work with Mountain Lion?

  • Panasonic HDC-TM900 issues with Mountain Lion.. Not compatible??

Hi, I can't see any of my video files I recorded onto my camcorder once plugged in via USB. I have a Panasonic HDC-TM900. It work fine before I updated to Mountain Lion.
When I plug my HDC-TM900 camcorder into my MacBook Pro, all the files on the camera Memory and SD card could be seen. All I did then was copy and paste the MTS files from either the Camera Memory or SD card to my desktop and convert them in iSkySoft. ( this all worked fine before I updated to Mountain Lion.
I tried plugging in the Panasonic into my iMac and MacBook this still run the older OS and all the files can be seen with no problem.
So I have concluded that it could only my an issue with Mountain Lion that it does not see or pickup certain files off my Panasonic camcorder
Can someone help ? I  am very desperate to find answers.

I can't tell you why, but I can tell you that Apple published the list of supported hardware on its website quite a while ago. The oldest MacBook Pro model that supports Mountain Lion is the Mid/Late 2007 model. You have the late 2006 model.
Details are (and have been) here:

  • Color issues in Mountain Lion with Acrobat Pro

I'm not sure I'm in the right forum, but here it goes.
Since upgrading my OS to Mountain Lion, I've noticed  when viewing PDFs output from InDesign 5.5 that once in Acrobat Pro the colors look muted and inaccurate.  I never saw this in Snow Leopard, hence my posting.  Color in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop CS5.5 seem just fine, it's only when a PDF is viewed in Acrobat that I see this muted color issue.
What I'm concerned with is are these problems when viewing only, or is the PDF color range itself screwed up?  I do prepress work and am using an Eizo CG241 display, CS5.5 and Acrobat Pro 10.1.4.
    Thanks!

If you are using a calibrated display, the calibration software should set your Displays>Color profile for you. Mine is set to "PA271W 0610738UA 2012-11-14 14-57", which is the name of the profile created by the calibration software. This is where color temperature, gamma, and color corrections are stored (in my case for prepress work at 5000K and 1.8 gamma).
Sorry about this long-winded posting, but I think the last few paragraphs may help make some progress, and I must first digress to get to them...
Control of color profiles embedded in my PDF files is done in Adobe Creative Suite (verson 6 at this time). I use Bridge to synchronize the suite. North American Web/Internet is for files going to the web and I apply sRGB to those files when opening them (if they aren't already sRGB). North American Prepress 2 is for files going to a printing press, and I apply Adobe RGB to files when opening them (if they aren't already Adobe RGB).
Files for the web are saved using Photoshop's "Save for Web..." command, which is set to sRGB and uses the Document Profile for a preview.
Files for print are converted to CMYK and placed in InDesign or Illustrator, where they are saved as PDF/X-1a files, which are CMYK and those values are preserved (not color managed). I should note that before that point, during client proofs, the files are placed as Adobe RGB. They are replaced by CMYK images before making a PDF/X-1a file for the printing press. Either way, the files display correctly and identically (except for any color gamut differences) regardless of color mode or application. (This is color management working correctly.) Except for Acrobat and Reader.
Until CS6, all PDF files would be displayed by Acrobat identically to how they appeared in the originating application (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Now all PDF files are darker, more drab, and shifted slightly toward blue.
Here's the weird thing. No matter what I do, even if I start with an sRGB file and save it as a Photoshop PDF using the Save for Web command, so it has been sRGB throughout the process, when the PDF file is viewed in Acrobat or Reader it is darker, more drab, and shifted slightly toward blue.
My first hypothesis was that Acrobat and Reader were applying sRGB to everything. But that appears to be wrong. Now I'm thinking that it's my calibrated display profile that is being ignored. And since it is calibrated for 5000K and 1.8 gamma, that is what explains the big shift in darkness, vividness, and color. It may be that the display profile, not the embedded color profile, is all that matters!
If so, a good experiment would be to calibrate one of your displays for 5000K and 1.8 gamma. If Acrobat and Reader are ignoring the display profile, you should see a very obvious difference in displayed PDF files compared to displays using 6500K and 2.2 gamma (which is just about everyone these days, except for publishing professionals who do exacting print work).
    Sheesh!

  • Strange Wi-Fi issue in Mountain Lion

    Hello Mountain Lion Gurus/Users/All,
Just yesterday I upgraded my 2009-mid-MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion (from Lion)
    I have this strange issue.
    I turn on my Wi-F
Selected my home network from the list of all the networks Mac could find. (Actually this is the network I regularly use on all my devices.)
It gets connected to my home network over Wi-Fi for 6 to 7 seconds. (I am able to browse pages, as a test, in these 6 to 7 seconds).
Suddenly message pops up saying "Connection Timeout. Could not connect to network."   Where as, I am able to browse over the same network from other devices like my iPod Touch, Android :@ Device etc.
    Please help me.
    Chandra

    Chandra,
Some people have found that setting a network location prevents this kind of problem.
In System Preferences, choose Network.  Then Edit Location, the + sign and use any name for the location.  Then select the location in the Network preferences pane.  If you haven't already, joint the wifi network.
You should also check that you haven't inadvertently messed up your settings in the advanced portion of the preferences.  While you're in there, click the button to renew your DHCP lease (in the TCP/IP tab).

  • Trackpad issues after mountain lion install

Since my Mountain Lion install, the trackpad on my 15" MBP will track, but won't select anything.  Hot corners aren't working, the dock won't appear, etc.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Got similar issues, no notifications and no switching between full screen apps (4fingerswipe). Some swipe features work, no secondary click in bottsom corners...Trackpad operational under Mountain Lion a total nuisance compared to Snow Leopard...PLease Apple, show some respect again to your faithfull customers and show some response!

  • Video Streaming Issues in Mountain Lion

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I have been experiencing problems streaming video files to my Sony Bravia TV. Although I have seen other posts complaining about audio streaming, streaming via wifi, etc. I haven't seen any posts with exactly the same setup as mine.
I have a mid-2007 iMac and I have iSedora, a DLNA media server, installed and streams video over a LAN. My TV is connected using a Powerline setup, so that there are no issues with WiFi. With Mountain Lion, I have been experiencing stuttering video (and audio) when I watch film and TV video files which are located on my iMac. I have to keep pausing the stream to allow it to 'catch up'. Basic animation video is okay.
Initially, I thought that my iMac was 'too old', but it is able to cope with any transcoding as the CPU is not overwhelmed at all.
I have tried Serviio, but that also has the same problem, and as I have a NAS, I can also stream the same 'problematic' video files without any problems.
I only hope Apple can sort this 'bug' out, which seems to be limiting the output of the stream somehow, or I am seriously thinking about downgrading back to Lion, even though I like everything else about ML.
I haven't seen any workarounds, but would be willing to
    Paul

since upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion I am also experiencing strange text issues to the point that my 27" i5 iMac is unusable for any application requiring text input. Because of this problem I am doing most of my work these days on my iPad.
Basically what happens is that I will be typing text when suddenly the cursor will leap to another part of the preceding text and insert itself. If I don't catch this immediately any typing I do overwrites the text after the new re-insertion point. Other times the text will suddenly start scrolling or a section will select all by itself and then delete. This is happening with pretty much every application that has text capabiity.
My iMac has 12 GB of RAM. So that is not the problem. And I seem to be clean from malware. The problem started as soon as I upgraded to Mountain Lion. My 27" iMac which is my main computer is now for all intents and purposes useless. Every day I pray for OS updates. But so far nothing.

  • No server connection with CS5.5 dreamweaver and Mountain Lion

I am having the issue of just not being able to connect to the servers at all now that I have Mountain Lion installed with CS5.5
I can, however, connect to the servers with cyberduck, so I know this must be an issue with Dreamweaver. Any help would be appreciated. I did notice a patch for this issue in cs6, but unfortunately not for cs5.5
I did try to re-do the settings for ftp, and checked them against my cyberduck settings, but no help there.

Well, that fixed the issue (durp). Somehow there was a discrepency between the saved passwords and the server passwords after the update to mountain lion? it would just say waiting... waiting for server... but in the log it was clearer that it was missing something from the login.
Sorry for the silly issue, but thank you for pointing me in the right direction so quickly. Must have been a keychain hick-up.
UPDATE: I actually found that it either missmatched or removed the login credentials from each of the servers in my list, now that I'm being more particular as I check them one by one.
So, make sure to check your login credentials over again if you have this issue. Like I said, I swear I checked them against cyberduck which was working at the time, but now it is accepting the credentials smoothly. I will update again if there is an issue in the future with the credentials not being saved. Thanks snakE!

  • [Help] Genius F610 + Adobe Illustrator CS5 = pressure issues

    Hey folks!
So I bought Genius F610 (newest drivers from genius web installed), iMac OSX 10.5.8 and Illustrator CS5
Pen pressure is working in Photoshop just fine and in Illustrator it only works with Wacom 6D brushes with my custom made and predefined when I try to edit them it is greyed out as it is calligraphic brush also.
    Can anybody help with this?

I had the same issue, Mylenium where is this notion of flaky emulation? Genius produce their own products, as it turns out my solutions proves that this seems to be an issue with illustrator where it directly supports only wacom drivers, which is obviously a software issue, it should support any pressure pen devices. Besides why does it work with photoshop ? perhaps adobe should directly support certain mouse products too then.
anyway heres the solution, make sure you have the latest driver from Genius,
Then just go to the wacom site and download/install the Wireless Pen Tablet: ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/Mac/cons525-3_int.dmg
    Tested on Mac OS Lion
    With Genius G Pen F610
Latest genius driver, think its 2.8 for the mac

  • Acrobat presets in Illustrator CS5 causing issues

When I created my PDF presets in Illustrator CS5.5., they were working fine until recently. I have files that I save as PDF's in Illustrator CS5.5.1 and either place the files in our templates in Illustrator, or a simple step and repaet of one vector art Ill. file 2 up. The issue is when I view the files in Acrobat X and the files are shifted or the second image of the step file won't show up. If I go back into the master files and do another save as for PDF it shows the CUSTOM setting at the top not my preset, so I select the preset (i made) again and it will work. Is this an Acrobat issue or an Illustrator issue? I reinstalled Illustrator, and deleted my old PDF settings and made new ones and that seemed to help for about 4 hours, and now I'm back to the same issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's an issue with the shared PDF stuff in newer versions of Acrobat. There's realy no fix for this misbehavior, it's more or less a "hard" compatibility issue.

  • Audition CS5.5 compatible with Mountain Lion OS on Mac?

Does anyone know if there are issues here? What about CS6? I  have not upgraded to CS6 yet, but I only moved to a Mac when Audition became available for Mac and have not had any problems. Thanks!

Yes, we can confirm that Audition CS6 is compliant with Mountain Lion (Mac OS 10.8) and their are currently no known issues between the product and the new OS.
While Audition CS5.5 is not the latest version of Audition, I can also confirm that it appears to work just fine as well.
With the minimal backend architectural changes made to the new Mac OS (between Lion and Mountain Lion), we see no reason for users to be concerned.
    I hope that helps.
    Thanks,
