Illustrator CS6 64-bit dvaui.dll and msvcr100.dll crashing problem, any solution?

First things first, trying to find a tech support Email address or phone number has been infuriating.  The "3-step support wizard" which results in "go to the forums" is also infuriating and insulting.
I have a Windows 7 64-bit PC running CS6 64-bit (updated/current), and it's crashing at random (2-3 times per day).  I see events recorded in the event log showing dvaui.dll and msvcr100.dll as the source.  Other people have raised this as an issue, and all I see are guesses.  Does Adobe have a credible solution for this yet?
I've tried running as a domain admin, which did not help.
Illustrator CS6 32-bit seems to be working perfectly (4 days straight, no crashing).
It seems to currently affect only one computer (5 others are fine).  It's not repeatable, and has no discernible cause.
Also, format and reinstall is neither a solution nor an option.
To be honest, I'm looking for Adobe to address this directly: do you know why this is happening, and how long until it is solved?  If an Adobe tech support will open a case, I have a file that the designer (I'm not the designer) was using during one of the crashes.  I don't know if the crashing will be related (to the file), but I have the file just in case.
David.

Hi Larry,
Thank you for responding.
> CS6 is current in that it is still available for purchase and in the CC but it is now two versions behind.
I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say.  Can you be explicit, please?
> As to your problem have you tried downloading the .dll files from Microsoft and reinstalling them?
I have copied and re-registered the DLL files from a known-good machine (that is to say that the machine doesn't exhibit any of the symptoms as the above machine), which did not help.
I'm really interested in having Adobe respond directly to this issue.  I know they are aware of it.
It's clear that Adobe doesn't actually want to support this program, but people rely on it for their economic success.  Both my client and his employees need this program to function properly and reliably, and I think anyone would agree that it's reasonable to expect that a problem like this (that affects more than just us) be, at a minimum, addressed.  Adobe has my client's money, they had no problem accepting it.  With that acceptance comes a duty to be responsive.
Thanks,
David.

  • Unable to start Illustrator CS6 64-bit on Windows 7

I installed the CS6 Master Upgrade yesterday and almost all of the apps are working correctly. However, when I try to open Illustrator CS6 64-bit it returns this error message: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application." The 32-bit version works correctly. Any suggestions or similar cases? Thanks.

I feel like I need to chime in here.  I just installed my new Master Collection of CS6 all my x64 applications were working with the exception of Illustrator x64.  I Googled the heck out of this and found so much back and forth between adobe saying it's a microsoft issue (.net framework and redistributables) and microsoft saying it's an Adobe issue.
My windows installation is fairly fresh, but for the heck of it I tried unexpectedpanda's solution of uninstalling/re-installing the Microsoft Visual C Libraries.  I followed the instructions to the letter, I even went so far as to uninstall/re-install .net itself.  No luck.
I saw the Lightroom (error unable to start correctly) fix mentioned in a few places, and thought frick I've tried EVERYTHING else.  I did the following to fix this annoying issue:
    1) Download the Lightroom fix (mentioned in the link from crebimacedo)
    2) Extract the .dll files from the .zip.  There are 2 files; msvcr80.dll and msvcr100.dll
    3) Opened folder Adobe Illustrator CS6 (64 Bit)/Support Files/Contents/Windows
    4) The above folder already contains the msvcr80.dll so I did NOT overwrite it.  I simply copied and paste the msvcr100.dll into the above folder.
    5) Tried to launch Illustrator CS6 (x64) and imagine that. WORKING!
To me this says that this was indeed an Adobe issue and their installer appears to be missing a file.  Especially when a fix file from their website resolves the issue.
I would also just like to add that I have confirmed that this file already existed in my C:\Windows\System32 and in C:\WindowsSysWOW64 so my OS was NOT missing it as a .dll; again reiterating that it appears to make this an Adobe issue.
    Good luck to the rest.
This one works for me ...

  • Several daily crashes in Illustrator CS6 64-Bit

    Hello,
After a long hard struggle with CS6 32-bit, Windows XP and 4 GB RAM, we decided to do our designers a favor and install Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit, 16 GB RAM and a new SSD for them, in order to speed up their daily work. Besides that, the PC is equipped with an i7-2600k and some HP-motherboard (it's an HP Elite 8200 with the beforementioned upgrades).
The good news is, that it has increased the speed greatly.
The bad news is, that Illustrator (the 64-bit version) has a tendency to crash several times each day. I havent' been able to find a pattern, unfortunately, but here's log-files from event viewer:
Faulting application Illustrator.exe, version 16.0.0.682, faulting module 4f6e45b7, version MSVCR100.dll, fault address 0x10.0.40219.325
Faulting application Illustrator.exe, version 16.0.0.682, faulting module 4f6e45b7, version dvaui.dll, fault address 0x6.0.0.0.
I've seen a few threads regarding the first crash, which suggested, that we should run Illustrator with administrative priveleges. So we did that (setting the permissions in the shortcut), but with no luck. I have absolutely no idea what dvaui.dll is, though.
The user is a local administrator, which should rule out any permission-issues in my eyes.
Any ideas on how to proceed?
    Best regards,
    Thomas

We are having the same issue and unable to find a common pattern. We reformatted the PC and reinstalled Illustrator.
Logged in as a local administrator and domain administrator, same issue.
Cleared Settings & Preferences, same issue.
Turned off Preferences sync, same issue.
    Turned off AVG, same issue.
Unable to find a common pattern at all.

  • Illustrator CS6 64-bit Crashes When Opening Files

This is a problem that has been plaguing me since I moved to CS6 64-bit (on a Windows 7 machine). I've only seen it in Illustrator:
Seemingly randomly once or twice a week, I will click on an AI file in Windows Explorer to open it, and Illustrator will crash to the desktop. There is no consistency to the files that I've been able to find. Some are local to my hard drive, and some are on the network. It could be a file I've opened several times the same day already or a file I haven't opened in months. I restart Illustrator and everything's fine— I can access the file, no problem.
The only trait that I have sussed out is that it seems to happen more frequently if I've left the computer idle for 20 minutes or so, which is well below the sleep time-out for my hard drive. It's almost like Illustrator doesn't know how to wait for a file if the file isn't immediately available. (The files are not open elsewhere.) I've read that Illustrator is cranky with files on network locations, but this happens more frequently with local files.
Program files are loaded from an SSD, but the scratch disk is my local HD and my files are stored on the HD. My scratch disk was originally the SSD, but the problem occured almost every day under that configuration. Moving the scratch disk to the HD made the crashes occur less frequently.
The event log for yesterday's crash doesn't seem to be particularly helpful. (Posted below.)
Is this behavior familiar to anyone? I have been searching Adobe's forums and the web in general with no luck for the last year. My apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere in the forums and I haven't found it.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I'm in and out of CorelDraw as well. (I don't open Corel files in Illustrator.) I also see no disk errors in the event log, but, as I said, I'll check for updates because that couldn't hurt, right?  :-)
    Thanks again.

  • CS5 plugin to work on Illustrator CS6 64-bit?

    Hello,
I have a plugin that should work on both Illustrator CS5 and CS6. CS6 also supports 64-bit illustrator.
Can i create a 64-bit configuration for the CS5 SDK and make the plug-in work on Illustrator CS6 64-bit?
    Thanks

I don't know if its possible to build a single binary that works in both anymore. Its definitely possible to have a code base that generates two without a whole lot of problems though -- we do it
The main problem is that in CS6, none of the legacy suites are present (unlike CS5 and earlier). Also, a lot of types have changed (and its going to get worse next version since they've indicated they're going to change AIReal from float to double). So if it is possible to make a single binary, its a very short window where its useful because I can guarantee it won't work for CS7 (CS6.5?).

I am trying to convert an Illustrator cs6 file to a PDF and every time I do it, I lose all text and images. Can someone provide some assistance? Thank you!

It's always a good idea to supply platform and AI version info.
How are you "converting" the file? Are you choosing "Save As" and selecting PDF from the file format options? This will bring up additional save options. I would suggest "Illustrator Default" setting unless you have specific needs.

(Windows 7/Vista)
インストールトラブル用の CS Cleaner Tool(Creative Cloud | Creative Suite 3/4/5.x/6)

  • What are analogous shared libraries that can be called using a call library function to user32.dll and lvtoolbox.dll when using Linux and Mac?

I am wondering if anyone is familiar with how to get similar information with a LV program using a Linux shared library as well as the corrolate Mac library to the Windows user32.dll and lvtoolbox.dll.  I specifically am trying to get system metrics such as screen resolution information and cursor information as well as being able to set mouse position.   I am trying to convert a LV Windows program to these other operating systems and I am unfamiliar with these platforms.
Thanks for your time - I really appreciate it.

There is no simple answer to that. On Linux you will likely have to call into X Server, which would be a pain to do, due to various versions and implementations of that. On the Mac there would be the difficulty that you can't call into the native ObjectiveC API but would need to find a Carbon API or something like that to do what you want.
If you seriously want to do something like this for multiplatform, you should bite the bullet and start coding an intermediate shared library in C. This library would export a LabVIEW friendly C API and access whatever system API you need to have for the particular functions. But multiplatform programming on this level is a pain in the ass, no matter what.

  • Access Denied   AcroIEHelper.dll  AcroPDF.dll  and pdfshell.dll

I have bits and pieces of earlier versions of Adobe Reader on my computer, so before I downloaded the latest version, version 9, I tried to remove the earlier versions. I had to do it manually and seem to have removed all the bits and pieces recommended in the tech notes but I CANNOT REMOVE AcroIEHelper.dll AcroPDF.dll and pdfshell.dll from Program files\common files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX I can see that other people have had this problem but there doesn't seem to be an obvious and foolproof way of doing it. (I tried the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility and nearly wrecked my computer - Word froze and disappeared altogether off my list of programs!)

Could not delete pdfshell.dll, but this worked (in Win XP):
    1. Close all programs.
    2. Open a command prompt window: Start > Run. Enter cmd.
    3. Open Task Mgr.
    4. Select explorer.exe and End Process. Yes to Warning. Desktop goes away.
    5. In the command prompt window (remember your DOS commands) and go to the directory and delete the file. Apparently this works because explorer.exe is not running.
    6. Restart Explorer: In the Task Mgr., File > New Task. Type explor.exe.

  • QtCore4.dll and QtGui4.dll

    Hello,
I have a question about Qt dll's. We createad a plugin for CS4 and CS5 using Nokia Qt 4.7.1 framework. It works fine, but we have to distibute our plugin with two dll's: QtCore4.dll and QtGui4.dll. We cannot put them next to .prm plugin file, because Premiere Pro will not try to find these dll's there - they should be in the same folder as "Adobe Premiere Pro.exe".  With CS4, we didn't have any problems with that, but we are having trouble with CS5. CS5 already has QtCore4.dll and QtGui4.dll, but they are old versions.
Our questions are - why does CS5 use Qt, for what purposes, and is it ok if we overwrite these dll's with new ones? Also, when we update PP CS5, it looks like it overwrites Qt dll's with old versions again. Is there any way to avoid it? Or is there any way to store and load dll's that we need from some other place (without using Qt static compilation, of course) ?
    Thank you.

I would recommend that you ship the Qt.dll files with their version on them... eg Qt1.2.3.4.dll and then install them in your distribution.
On Windows the place that is supposed to be is...
         C:\Program Files\Common Files\[Company Name]\*.dll
It's then your responsibility during installation of the plugin (eg in InstallShield) to make a system environment variable
    eg %COMPANYNAME_BIN%= C:\Program Files\Common Files\[Company Name]\
and append ";%COMPANYNAME_BIN%" to the %PATH% so that the .prm dll can find it during launch.
Then you shouldn't get version clashes any more.

  • Missing "CoreVideo.dll" and "CoreAudiotoolbox.dll"

I use Windows XP Pro and Safari for Windows. Everything has worked fine until I downloaded itunes for windows.
Since then, every time I browse through Safari, I get the messages "CoreVideo.dll and CoreAudioToolbox.dll were not found". In spite of this, Safari works well and itunes works perfectly. The two "missing files" are not missing at all, I found them in the C\Program Files\Common files\Apple\Apple application support folder. It's just that these error messages appear every few minutes and are very annoying.
    Can you help?

i'm using Windows XP SP3 and Safari 4.0, and I got that message error too("CoreVideo.dll and CoreAudioToolbox.dll were not found"), but if I upgrade Safari with version 5 or 5.1, safari cannot load any pages. sometime show up error message that safari cannot communicate with server or cannot locate the server etc. so I uninstall and reinstall again safari with version 4 or 3. any suggest ?

  • When I try to open FireFox it says I am missing nspr4.dll and mozqlite3.dll. How do I fix this?

I downloaded FireFox 8.0 not too long ago, and when I launched it, it said nspr4.dll and mozqlite3.dll were not found on my computer. I've used FireFox for a long time, and this has never happened before.

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 8.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version if possible.
*Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Get a license for using craxdrt.dll and crpe.dll

    Hello,
I posted a question about the difference between the .Net Runtime and Crystal Report print engines :
Print in text mode to detect escape sequences
The response was : the .Net Runtime print engine can't print in text mode and you're not licensed to use the craxdrt.dll.
We need to print in text mode.
So, is there a way to get a license for the use of craxdrt.dll and crpe.dll ?
    Or any suggestion ?

    Hello Philippe,
The RDC COM components (craxdrt.dll is one part) were retired after CR XI R2 (v11.5). Unfortunately, you can't get a license for the CRAXDDRT.dll that is part of CR2008. The CRAXDDRT.dll is used for report previewing from with the Visual Studio IDE.
The CRPE is the underlying engine, and there's no public API for making direct print engine calls.
As for your underlying question - printing in "text mode" with the CR.NET SDK - I don't have any suggestions. Maybe others can respond to that on your original thread.
    Sincerely,
    Dan Kelleher

  • Difference between wtuxws32.dll and LIBFML32.DLL

Hi, I am trying to write a Tuxedo client application in Powerbuilder. I found that most of the functions are available in both dlls(wtuxws32.dll and LIBFML32.DLL). I am confused to which one to use. Moreover I could find the userlog() function only in wtuxws32.dll.
    Please advice
    JK

I find that the best way to work out what to link your program to is to look at what the BEA supplied buildclient does. So open up a DOS box and run:
    buildclient -w -o x
buildclient lists all of the libraries it would link with in order to create a client. If you have the development SDK installed then try:
    buildclient -o x
This shows the difference between a workstation and a native client. You can do exactly the same with buildserver as well.

Google 'Perian' and 'Flip4Mac' — these are the extensions that will make QT play other file formats.
However, a simpler solution is just to abandon QT in favour of the free, open-source player VLC, which plays just about everything natively without further downloads.
Download the free VLC Player from here:
    http://www.videolan.org
Plays just about everything, including avi & mpg, without add ons.
