Illustrator CS6 - saving to jpeg (distored)

Hi
I am new to Illustrator.  I have designed a new logo using Illustrator CS6 to the best of my knowledge.  I now need to create business cards etc for printing but when I save it to jpeg it becomes very distorted after the file is uploaded to the printing site.  Even if I cut and paste to another artboard it become distored as well.
If anyone can please help me I am getting desperate to have this finished by today for a client.
Thanks.

Hi thank you for replying ... I used the default settings - added the text then drew the two figures - grouped and exported to a jpeg ... I am a total novice in Illustrator I normally use photoshop but need to make business cards, postcards and will upload the jpeg to vistaprint ...
the colours aren't the same as my original file (above) ... but when I upload to vistaprint it looks distorted ...
If you need more information can you let me know ... thank again

  • Illustrator CS6 saving issue!

    Hi,
I(and my colleagues) am having an Issue with CS6 when saving files. This has only happened over the past week or so yet we are unable to find a solution and need some help.
When saving a file using the 'Save' option (not 'Save As') the file is not staying at the size of the artboard as it should, it is however being aurtomatically cropped down to the actual artwork size. This is causing issues with the Process we work with as we need the file to stay at the artboard size.
If I click 'Save As' and change the Adobe PDF Preset to 'Press Quality' then this works, however this means that every file we save(which is quite alot in a day) means we have to go through the 'Save As' option and manually change each save.
Does anyone know why this has suddently started to happen with our Illustrators and do you know how to fix this so that it stays at the Artboard size when 'Save' is used?
I appreciate any help anyone can give on this.

Having the same problem with artboards and pdf's.  Here is a screen shot of the issue.

  • Why does the image go blurry when I export my file to jpeg from Illustrator CS6?

    Hi,
I have created an image on illusrator CS6 and am ready to save it.
I have saved it as a pdf format and the image stays as a sharp vector image and not blurry at all.
But I also want to keep the image as a jpeg. So when I go to export the image from illustrator CS6 as a jpeg, the end result comes out blurry and not sharp anymore, but more jagged on the edges of the image.
Is there anything I can do to keep my file as a jpeg with it staying as a sharp crisp image?

The image above is a screenshot of the ai.file
Above - second image is the screenshot of my export settings
the 3rd image above is a close up zoomed in part of the image - the edges are jagged and blurry

  • Metadata not saving in Illustrator CS6

I have come across multiple users with this same problem and have found no solution.  I am creating files in illustrator and saving them as jpegs using 'save for web'. However, none of the user generated metadata is saved with the file.  For example, Headline, Description, Keywords and Creator.  Any suggestions???????

The files I am testing with are .jpg's.  They ultimately need to be opened with Illustrator which is why I posted.  I only tested with Photoshop to see what would happen and was pretty surprised to see the data there.  Like I said, it works in CS5 Illustrator, CS6 Photoshop, but the data just doesn't show up in the CS6 Illustrator (in the advanced nor the raw tab), and when I view the .jpg with textedit the data is difinitely there.  Pretty weird.

  • I've created a "header" in Illustrator. When I send it to someone to be used in a report.. it comes up "blurred" or, with a white background. I tried opening in Photoshop and saving as JPEG, but get same results. What do I do?

Can anyone give me suggestions .. after creating a "logo" or a "header" to be used by someone else in a presentation or report.. I can't figure out how to make the background transparent, and keep the image clear. Created in CS6 Illustrator.. tried opening in Photoshop and saving as JPEG.. no luck.

Have you tried exporting for MS Office?
You could also try exporting as transparent PNG with 144 ppi.
On top of that: don't scale it in Office.

  • I cannot save after I place a small jpeg into illustrator CS6.

I cannot save after I place a small jpeg into illustrator CS6.

    hey Jacob-
So I've tried creating a new document and pasting all of the artwork in that document. Nothing changed.
I checked all of the jpeg's I'm working with, resized some or made smaller etc. At this point I'm seeing no issues with the jpegs
and the illustrator file I'm working with....no stray points, did a clean up.
It's the action of saving the informatin to the file.  The spinning beach ball appears....forever. Weird, because I just had a job where I was
doing the exact same action and had no issues.
I also re-down loaded all of the jpegs. I'm recieving these from a dropbox folder, copied to my dropbox folder. I use dropbox to receive
files daily so I don't think that's the problem but maybe there is a problem in the transfer???
I have a call into Adobe at this point. Tomorrow I will recieve a call from their tech support.
Thank you for your help thus far and if you have any other suggestions I'm open to them.

  • Illustrator CS6 is not saving files properly.

I'm having issues with Illustrator CS6 (16.0.0) saving my files properly.  Let me give you some background here.
I work for a company that manufactures fishing lures.  I have to create the product cards that these products are to be packaged.  I use Illustrator CS6 to create my cards and I save a master file that includes the original text.  From there, I save the file as an Illustrator CS3 file since most printers I dealt with don't have anything versions higher than CS3.  I take these cards and convert the text to an object so that no one has to deal with fonts or mismatched font errors.  After this, I create a PDF of that same file so that my contacts at the print shop can see the card files and keep a reference for themselves.  On several occasions now, I've gotten emails from my clients saying that they need the necessary fonts to print these cards.  I check my files that should now be all objects and its back to being font text again.  I double check these files beore sending them but if I should have to close out these files and work on another project, then come back to files I've working on.  The objects are now back to fonts again.  All the while, I'm saving my progress.  I've been bitten too many times on this in the past, so I'm a saving freak.
I'm using an iMac (2011) 3.4 Ghz Intel Core i7 with 16 gig of RAM, 2 gig AMD Radeon HD 6970M graphics, several hard drives (most being network drives) including the 1TB HD that came with the computer, MacOS 10.8 (Mountian Lion) - the same occurs with any flavor of MacOS 10.7 (Lion) too.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Wayne

    Wayne,
You have used Type>Create Outlines, with no live Type left behind (after saving the original artwork, of course), no?
What if you Save As PDF, thus embedding the font(s), and they take it from there?

  • PDF Saving issue in Illustrator CS6 (Mac)

I have trouble saving Acrobat 4 compatible PDF files in Illustartor CS6. The problem does not affect every file I try to save, but when saving from AI to PDF, heavier files tend to be hard to save. I select the "Save as" option, click PDF, choose my location, then in the dialog with the settings I choose the ones I need and hit enter. A progress bar appears and after a while it freezes on about 80% and never moves further. I am running Illustrator CS6 on a MacBook Pro Retina, 2.6 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM, OS X Mountain Lion. I have tried reinstalling Illustrator, saving to a different location and changing the settings. the only thing that worked for me was saving a Acrobat 5 or 6 compatible file, but this is not a solution, since I need the Acrobat 4 compatibility for a client. Thanks in advance.

You can open the PDF in Acrobat and save to Acrobat 4 compatibility, either through optimize or preflight. I would also ask the client why they want Acrobat 4 compatibility.

  • Intermittent Bug when saving pdf files in Illustrator CS6

I save a pdf file in Illustrator CS6 with a specific art board size. When I open it in Acrobat the size is off. When our print's RIP's the file, it is off the same amount. I will re-open it in Illustrator and re-save it and just change the name, the artboard is then correct. This is very intermittent. It has happened on two copies of CS6. Both prograns are current with the updates. I am on a iMac running OS 10.6.8.

    Document size is: 36.01 x 98.12
I can open up both documents in Illustrator and they are identical.
We have been using these presets for a couple of years without issue. The problem started happening about 3 weeks ago on 2 seperate computers. We have not seen the problem with CS5.5 and earlier.

It was initially doing this even when I was saving the .ai file. I went to my system preferences and did "Restore default fonts" and it will not allow me to save as an .ai file, but not an EPS. I have also tried converting the text to outlines, and it still will not let me save it.
    Help!

    Sealyspeak, Frolnocx,
Each time you close down Illy, the preference files are updated; these are the basic one and the other ones and the Illustrator [Version number] Settings folder.
This means that as soon as you have built the preferences as you like them, you may may close down Illy and copy the whole folder to a backup folder; you can also copy the basic preferences file (the AIPrefs/Adobe Illustrator Prefs file in Win/Mac speak), and when you need to reset the preferences in the future you can use the backup version.
You can see how to find the folder and the file in Move the folder and Working with the AIPrefs/Adobe Illustrator Prefs file.
The [Version number] is a bit tricky: up to 10 it is the actual (single application) version number, for 11 to 16 it is the Creative Suite number, CS - CS6, for CC it is 17 (the original numbering resumed).
If you do that, you may still have to reset preferences, but at least you can reset to a sound version of your own settings.

  • Illustrator CS6 opening and saving problem. Please help

    Hello
I have Illustrator CS6 installed on windows 8.1. Every time I save a file as ai. format, it will automatically create a copy on the desktop. When I deleted the copy and try opening the original file, the error message "The file is an unknown format and cannot be opened" pops up. I've checked that the file is not "read only", deleted the pref files and even reinstalled Illustrator CS6 but none of these have solved the problem. I have also noticed that I cannot copy or rename the file as the same error message pops up. Any solutions? please help

    (1) When I go to open files, raw or jpeg, I now need to enter a value for 'enable' on the open dialog.  That never was necessary before.
Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels/Dialogs visible?
    (2) When I go to save as jpeg, the file type defaults to eps.
So you select jpg from the dropdown list and it switches to eps?

  • Illustrator CS6 hangs saving files to local HD while having multiple server share points mounted

    Mac OS 10.6
    Illustrator CS6
Illustrator CS6 hangs (spinning beach ball) when saving files to the computer's local HD while having multiple server share points mounted.
I am NOT opening or saving the file to or from a server.
The server is mounted so that I can move my saved file to it once complete.
Unmounting the servers fixes the problem and Illustrator CS6 returns to being normal (not causing a spinning beach ball).
    This is repeatable, not intermitent.

We were having similar issues working over a network. I believe it's a Mac OS 10.6 issue, something to do with the Mac finder searching for file dates or metadata on the servers. From what I understand, this has been fixed in OS 10.7. We can't yet move to 10.7 and after trying many possible fixes, found that a Mac finder alternative, Path Finder, fixed most server delays. It's not free, but you can give it a 30 day trial to see if it fixes your issue. Here is a link to discussions about other suggested fixes:

  • After processing in CS6 saved jpegs are washed out in when viewing in bridge - Why?

after processing in CS6 saved jpegs are washed out in when viewing in bridge - Why?

I have been trying to figure out if I made any accidental changes in Photoshop. So far I haven't found anything. That might simply mean that I don't know all of the places to look. I have called Adobe and been on the support websites and haven't gotten a clear answer. I save as a JPEG with an embedded color file sRGB. Any suggestions on where else to look for accidental changes?
Everyone seems to agree that iPhoto doesn't work well with Adobe and should be avoided in the workflow. Truly, I had no idea! I just like the simplicity. The Mac store never mentioned problems between the two but did offer to help me purchase Aperture. I will use Bridge from now on to view the images and manage folders.
    Thanks for your message!

Google it and find some temp fix. run the illustrator by using "Run as admin" mode and fix the problem, but when use run as, can't see all the original user's mapping drives.
    So still need it fixed.

It is win 7 64 bit system and same error on Illustrator x86 and x64.
