Illustrator (CS6) - unable to save, unknown error
We've been experiencing an issue with saving illustrator files (as .ai). The error message is "unknown error occurred" when attempting to save. Things tried already:
delete preferences file
uninstall/re-install CS6
standardize all fonts to arial
save in another location (desktop, network)
save as .eps
But still same.
This happens when copying components of one ai file to another and trying to save it. Found that removing one tiny piece from a drawing allows the save...so fine we can work around, but it would be really helpful to know WHY this is happening, because it seems likely to happen again. There is no text in that piece, just lines and shading.
Any advice is appreciated.
Well, that would require for you to provide the file so people can dabble with it or at least extensively document your settings with screenshots on top of screenshots. In any case, ask such specific questions in the AI forum and also provide system info along with the details I described in whatever form.

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

Getting "unable to sync - unknown error (1140) on iPhone and iPad.
Yesterday, I got a message when trying to sync my iPhone 4S - "unable to sync, unknown error (1140). After several unsuccessful attempts, I did a complete restore on my iPhone (took forever!). Today, plugging in my iPad mini, I get the same error. This looks like an Apple problem to me. Any suggestions before I think about doing a complete restore on my iPad?
If you haven't done so already, update iPhoto on your Mac. You might want to consider updating the OS to 10.6.8 if you haven't already done so.

Illustrator CS6 "side-by-side configuration error"
Hi,
When I try to run Illustrator, it would give me an error message that says " C:\Program Files\ Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS6 (64 Bit)\Support Files\Contents\ Windows\Illustrator.exe The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." I am unable to get on Illustrator and deactivate my license so I can reinstall the software. I'm currently using a Windows 7 64-Bit laptop. Thank you so muchWhat you could try is remotely debugging the executable, so you can use highlight execution and see what is going on, because error 59 is a network error.

You could also see if there is a different acquire input data vi that still does what you want, and see if the error still occurs.

Illustrator CS6 does not save PNGs properly
I have a problem with Illustrator CS6: anytime I try to export file to PNG, it saves a file of exactly 102 kb and the file is essentially empty. Is it a bug in Illustrator, or only I have such problems?
I believ Illustrator works one at least two platforms so it is hhard to say wi9thout knowing your specs.
But on the Mac it is working fine except that one can not export using the option to have a black or other color background if not already part of the file.
Other than that it is working as expected.
So I would say you have either a conflict or a corruption.
If a corruption then try this
PC
1. Quit Illustrator.
2. Rename the AIPrefs file (for example, to AIPrefs.old) in the Users/(user)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS# Settings folder.
3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.
Mac
1. Quit Illustrator.
2.Go to User/username/Library/Preferences/ Adobe illustrator CS# Settings and trash the settings folder, the whole folder not just the contents of the folder..

Illustrator CS6 crashing on save
Hello,
Illustrator CS6 has been crashing for one of my users on save recently. She has been sending me multiple crash reports and I have not been able to figure out what's going on. Here's a little history
She is running and intel 2.66 with 8 GB of ram. The machine is running 10.7.5 updated as of yesterday. The machine has Suitcase fusion 5 (updated as of yesterday).
I went so far as to rebuild the machine 2 days ago. Everything is new. But yet Illustrator crashes randomly on her. I swapped out memory thinking it was a memory issue but still crashing.

First you should try to confirm this possibilty.
Create a new user account.
Log into that user account launch Illustrator and crete file in Illustrator, should not be real work.
Then save it if the problem does not appear you boot back into your older account and you want to delete your font cache files and your settings folder for the settings folder you find it like this
1. Quit Illustrator.
2.Go to User/username/Library/Preferences/ Adobe illustrator CS# Settings and trash the settings folder, the whole folder not just the contents of the folder..
3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.
For the font cahe there are utilties that do this some of which are free or you can do a search for files that star like this AdobeFnt and you will get a whole bunch that will look like this Adobezfnt07.lst or perhaps the number will be 10 as well and other numbers.
You trash them all and don't worry they will be made over once you launch another adobe application.
I suggest quitting all Adobe applications including the Bridge before trashing the font cache files.
Tehn see if you can save your files.
BTW do you have a font manager that can detect corrupr fonts and do you have any free fonts on your mac?
If you have free fonts you might want to make cetain they are not installed at the moment if you dcided to reinstall them then do so one at a time should the problem come back after installing a specific font you want to remove it clean everything out again and never reinstall that font again. -
Illustrator won't open "An unknown error has occurred (-108)"
I installed Yosemite a couple of weeks ago and it took several days to finally get things working again. All was well for a while, but now Safari tries to reload pages continually, Mail crashes when I check new mails (it just disappears without warning), Illustrator gives me "unknown error (-108)", InDesign just disappears when I try to start it, Word won't open at all, preview doesn't work in the finder. This is a major inconvenience and makes my Mac pretty much useless.

There could be a issue with the Operating system or the user account.
Try creating new Admin user account on the Mac. If the problem happens on new user as well, may be you can contact Apple support and get some advise.

Unable to save mail error message
Have been using mail for a week or so without a glitch but over the past couple of days i keep getting an error pop up saying that UNABLE TO SAVE MAIL , problem is i haven't tried to save any mail, the most common time for this to happen is if i swuch screens to another application.
On mail I have my .MAC account and a IMAP account
Any ideas?

You should consider turning Store draft messages on the server OFF, so that drafts are stored locally instead, unless you have a good reason to store them on the server.
Note that everytime you create a message (either new or reply), Mail automatically creates a draft to store it. If Mail wants to save the draft on the server and the server is temporary unavailable or doesn't respond for some reason, you may experience the behavior you've observed from time to time. -

Trying to update an iphone 3gs from ios 4.1 to 5.1. Received the above error cdoe 11 to an unknown error, unable to restore. How can we fix that?
I think I actually got it restored now... and now, each time I am able to sync about 3-5 songs before I get the beachball and the whole thing 'times out'.
You are VERY correct about my desire for a new iMac. Too bad I just bought my first house, or I might be able to actually afford one! I have enough excuses... now I need cash.
Firewire to USB. I will see what I can find... it doesn't seem very likely, but you never know! Thanks for the help. I will report back if I find anything. I know there are a lot of people affected by this issue.
What is kind of ironic is that if I would have bought a PC in this time frame, it would have definitely had USB 2.0. You know? Dang. -
Illustrator CS6 unable to open
When I click open my Illustrator CS6, a pop up with uninstall and reinstall message appeared. It also shown an error with "Error 1".
What should I do and your help are much needed.

Unable to sync, "unknown error (-50)"
I have been having this problem for a couple months now, and cannot find anything in the forums- even the guy at the Genius Bar wasn't sure what to do- I'm HOPING someone here can help.
A while ago my old ipod photo stopped syncing. It would put up an error message "The iPod 'photo' cannot be synced. An unknown error has occurred (-50)."
I played around with it for a little while, and found that if I turn off photo syncing the error goes away, and it syncs my music just fine. But as soon as I turn it back on, I get the same thing.
Then I found that I get the same error with my (brand new) 80gb ipod video. And with my first gen ipod nano.
I tried rebuilding my iphoto library, but that didn't make a difference.
Then I got a whole new computer- a new intel iMac. I did not use the migration assistant. I installed all apps fresh. I did use target disk mode to copy my music folder and my pictures folder from the old computer to the new one.
And I STILL have the same error, and can't find any information about it.
What is it?!
It's on 3 ipods, 2 computers... obviously has something to do with syncing photos... I tried rebuilding the iphoto library...
What else can I do to troubleshoot? I'm about to make a new user and try that...

Thanks!Ok, so I created a whole new user called Test.
I hooked up the nano, and it asked if i want to erase and sync, or transfer purchases.
I transferred purchases, so then I had a couple hundred songs in my itunes library.
Then I synced the nano, and got the usual "this nano syncs with another library to you want to erase everything and sync with this one" and i said yes.
It worked.
Then I went and turned on photo syncing (even though I have no photos in this new user account).
It worked.
Then I copied a few folders of pix from my regular user account into the test account's Pictures folder. Then opened iphoto and said 'import to library'. So it added all the pix in the pictures folder into iphoto.
I tried to sync the ipod again- it asked if I wanted to replace all pix with the new ones (the same as the music warning)- I said yes.
And hit sync- and it worked.
Soo... I guess that means the problem is either somewhere in my thousands of photos, or maybe in a pref file for my user?
Maybe the next step is to import ALL my pix from the old account. Then if THEY sync, it must be something in the user account itself?! Not sure if that logic works.
But I don't think my 4gb nano can hold all my pix, and I don't really want to erase my whole 80gb video...
Anyone have any other ideas? Where are the Apple helper people? The only people responding are people saying 'i have the same problem'. Can we get some help around here?

I installed iOs 6 on my New iPad. After that every time I try to synchronize the New iPad with my iMac I get the message: "This iPad can not be synchronized; an unknown error (1140)".

Unable to restore - Unknown error (9)

Updated (tried to) iphone to 1.2.2 - whichever just came out - and it seems to have killed it. When I connect the iphone it detects it, but asks to restore it. When I click restore, it tries, but then I get a message that unknown error occurred (9). No idea what that means.
