Illustrator file looses background

When creating a logo design I am using a sky background. Everytime I reopen the file to work on the logo, the background disappears from the application. I then have to retrieve it from my art file.
A window opens saying, could not find the linked file - then ignore, cancel, replace. Can you help me.

  • How do I get a transparent background in my Illustrator file?

I'm relatively new to Illustrator, (I'm working in CS4) and created a corporate logo for one of my clients.  When I place the logo into Photoshop or InDesign, the logo is in a white box.  How can I make the background transparent in the original Illustrator file?

    Hey!
    Thanks, but I wrote

    Thanks,
but I need the file in png or jpg.
I have to upload this image and there is no other data type possible. :/
that I need png or jpg.
And of course. By every change of the saving options, I tried how it looks when its uploaded.
But every time it doesn't look like it should be.
That is the reason why I wrote my questions in this forum.

  • How do I crop an image in photoshop and place it in an illustrator file without having a white backg

How do I crop and image in photoshop and place it in an illustrator file without having a white background ?

Could you post the image (or a lores version of it) on this Forum?

  • Illustrator files sometimes have a white BG when placed in InDesign

What determines if an Illustrator .ai file or Illustrator .eps file will have a white background when placed in InDesign? Usually when I place a .ai file, the background is white, and when I place a .eps file, the background is transparent. But I have noticed in other people's files that placed .ai files have a transparent background. In all cases, the placed file is pure vector. I would prefer that the background be transparent all the time, unless I give the object frame a while fill in InDesign.

This Gaussian Blur is probably created as a bitmap effect, not as live transparency. That makes sense, too, since EPS doesn't support transparency effects.
No option to change this in InDesign, unless you want to resort to ad hoc hacks such as setting the entire image to "multiply".
You can try to get hold of the original Illustrator file; if the blur is done as a transparent effect in that, ID sohuld be able to process it correctly.

  • Bridge 2.1.1.9 Crashes When Illustrator File Updated

This same topic was posted at 12:40pm on Nov 28, 2007 by Jon Bitpusher Paul. I cannot find an answer to this problem, so I'll just repeat most of his message here, with appropriate edits regarding my PC:
    Hello,
    Here's another consistent crash scenario:
Bridge 2.1.1.9 running in background connected to a Version Cue Server on the same machine open to a Version Cue Folder. In Illustrator CS3, I save (not check in) an existing file.
Bridge 2.1.1.9 crashes---almost every time I save this Illustrator CS3 file. I assume that Bridge (in the background) has this file selected and is showing it in the preview pane when it crashes.
My specs: Win XP SP2, Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9, Illustrator CS3 13.0.2, 4GB RAM (I know it's not all being used on this OS.
I hope someone has an answer to this problem,
    Thank you!

Hi, I have the exact same problem, it happens also when i Check In the Illustrator file, it started happening with the latest bridge (or Illustrator not sure because just updated all my apps) update, bridge version is also 2.1.1.9 and Illustrator 10.0.2
Computer is: Vista Ultimate x64, 6Gb RAM.

  • Illustrator file compatibility

Hi   I'm new to Adobe Illustrator CS6 and finding it really good to use. I have come up against a problem though. I find that when I open up my file in Photoshop CS6 to airbrush part of the front cover design for my book I then loose all capability to edit the file when I go back into Illustrator. There is no airbrush in Illustrator CS6 so I have to do this. Also I need to preserve editing capability because I will not know the spine width for the front cover of my book until it has been printers have printed it. Am I doing something wrong?

Depending on what you are actuall airbrushing, you could remove all objects you don't want to touch in your illustrator file, and save it as a new document. Open this file in photoshop, making sure you crop to artbox in the open file dialog box, and complete your edits on the raster file, and save as psd. Re-open your original working .ai file again then go to file>place, and place your airbrushed .psd file on top of your other artwork. It's not an ideal solution but a possible work around. Of course it depends on what else you want to do to the airbrushed area once you've placed back in illustrator.

  • Make my Illustrator file 3D with lighting?

Hello, I have a stock photo of a photo studio i'm using as my background. I have a vector image created in Illustrator i'd like to "place" into my background, with the end product being the photographer taking model shots of my fancy vector image.
Thus I'd like to add some depth/extrusion to my imported Illustrator file, as well as setup lighting so that shadows on the image mimic the placement of lights in the stock image, as well as adding shadows onto the floor.
Unfortunately I'm using an integrated video card, so I cannot get Adobe Repousse to work on my system. Any other thoughts? Links to tutorials would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

There are ways to fake it, if you can't get it to work properly.
To do an extrude, copy/paste the image (ctrl-j) The back image fill it with black, move it for an offset. repeat the process, continue until you have the depth you need.
For a drop shadow, copy/paste the image (ctrl-j) The back image fill it with black, move it to taste and feel free to stretch it, warp it, etc.. Lower the opacity and/or apply a blur.

  • How to import Illustrator files in DW?

    Hi there,
How do you import Illustrator file as a background image in
DW. I've tried Save for web in Illustrator, but the DW is not
recognising the files. I saved as .svg in Illustrator, and yet
    again no joy with DW.
    Many thanks

You would have to save the image as a JPG or GIF image and
    then you can
place it in DW, using CSS.

  • How to open Photoshop files as layers in an open Illustrator file?

    Hi there,
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but right now I'm working with both Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 on a mac. I'm creating a graphic. The background is a (cartoonish) mouth and I finished it a couple of days ago. (It's an Illustrator file.) I've been working on the letters to go inside of the mouth, (Once I'm finished it'll look as though they're being crushed.) I scanned and edited small wooden letters in Photoshop, and now I would like to work with them with the background in Illustrator. I understand how to open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, but I don't want to open the document as a separate Illustrator file. Is there a way to open a file from Photoshop as a second layer?
Some of the letters repeat as well. Will I have to create two files for this, or can I open the same file twice?
    Thanks! VA

Simply copy&paste the stuff to the worjking document. You are over-thinking this.

  • Help with creating color schemes in Illustrator file

I'm repeating a particular background image on each page of a calendar and would like to change its colors on each page. There are 2 gradients in the image which use a total of four different colors. I'm not at all skilled in color theory and was wondering if anyone can please tell me if there's an easy way to come up with harmonious color combinations that I can apply to the original Illustrator file? My shortcut solution would be to convert the color to grayscale and apply a color overlay, but the image just looks flat when I do that. I would prefer to adjust the gradients individually but just don't know how to find compatible colors.
Here's a preview of the image followed by a DropBox link to the Illustrator file.
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/52882455/background1.ai
    Thanks!

    Couple ideas for you:
First, try using the color wheel on color.adobe.com.  Select the middle color and add your hex code to the color.  The app will automatically show you analogous colors.  See an example here. You can also experiment with the other color rules in the Color Rule menu (just click on one of them).
Second, take a look at themes created by others.  If you are looking generally for colors that work well with yellow, you can browse the most popular themes and spot some which use yellow.
    I hope that helps.

  • Export illustrator file from Flash Professional CS6

Can a background/scene created in Flash profession be exported to illustrator file with extension Ai without illustrator?

    SIcsempertyrannus wrote:
Thanks for trying to help. Some how I managed to do it-but I did it some kind of meatball way. I kept clicking into the image until everything was selected...then I grouped it all and exported as fxg because I do not have the eps option. Somehow it worked, But I have 20 of these to do and this is def not the right way to do it. Hope someone else can wise me up. Thank-you for your help.
You did not have to group it you could have exported the image or the selection only or the movie in the FXG format (Flash Exchange Graphic) and what is wrong with doing it a newer and better way. FXG is supported in Flash Catalyst as is Illustrator and Photoshop FXG can be exported from Illustrator so you use the file in Flash more readily and though Photoshop does not support FXG that might change.
I am leased they finally came up with a rational method of exporting to and from Illustrator and Flash.
Eps was never the right way since Flash is not a postscript application.
You found the right way and format you just went about it in an unusual and unneccessary way.
Next time if you want all the art choose image instead of selection if you only need some elements of the art select them export choosing selection only that art will be exported no need to group.
if you want the whole movie then again choose the whole movie of course that will be a motion type format not FXG.
Anyway you sort of did it the right way.

  • Need to Edit Photoshop and Illustrator Files

We need to be able to make simple edits to Photoshop and Illustrator files -- e.g. fixing typos. I am hesitant to buy a copy of both programs at over $1000 when we will be using 0.01% of the program!
Desire is to open, make edit, save in original format.
    Anyone know a way?

No. Sorry, you will have to take this bitter pill. While there are other apps like Paintshop Pro that open PSD files using the legacy version of the format up to PS7, you will loose information as they may not support all layer styles, smart objects, layer groups, 32bit/16bit PSDs and correct color profile handling. in so many words: you will burden yourself with more work instead of making things easier. and for illustrator don't even ask - the format is proprietary ever since v9, so nobody outside Adobe can replicate it.

  • Illustrator files into InDesign and Editing

    Hello,
I designed some pages in Illustrator that were intended to be coded as a web site, and now the client wants to print them for a trade show.
He's adding content, and now it looks as though there will be 16 pages.
The thought of re-creating, editing and then flattening and saving as PDF 16 pages separately (though using a template), makes my head spin a little, so I'm thinking I should use InDesign so I can have one multi-page document instead.
I've searched and found differing opinions on the most efficient way to achieve this.
One suggestion was to drag and drop from Illustrator to InDesign, but then I lose the text editing capabilities, which I will need because my client keeps making text changes.
I'm a little overwhelmed, and some advice on how best to approach this would be VERY much appreciated! The files are basically just a couple of layered background colors, a photo with a title at 85% opacity and text.
    Thanks for any help!
    Jen

    The thought of re-creating,
    Why re-creating?
Me, I would keep Illustrator files in Illustrator. If you want to put them together to make one big PDF, maybe it would make sense to Place each one on a page in Indesign, but make the edits in Illustrator and update the links in Indesign.
I don't have Illustrator CS4 yet, but I read somewhere that it finally does multipage AI files. So if you have AI CS4 you could combine your files into one file (I think).

  • PDF file doesn't match Illustrator file...? Please help

    hi all,
We have had a very unusual situation that need your help to find out.
Description: The artwork is an outlined Illustrator file is absolutely correct as the client wanted it be. Before sending it for production, we make an PDF file of that approved artwork. Well... The pdf DID NOT match the artwork and IT SHOULD MATCH.
Some of the vector background drop out/missing, some of the transparency of vector artwork went to 100% or wrong transparency...
Software used: Adobe Illustrator CS3 version 13.0.2 / Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional version 8.1.3
Hardware: MacPro 4Gb Ram, OS X10.5.6
thanks a lot for you help,

    Thanks Laura,
This incident happened only once. I re-made another PDF using the same method and it was fine. I tried many time but I can't replicate the error/problem. The areas where was dropped out in the PDF is a solid color oval with 80% transparency, the other area is a gradient color with 100% transparency. There are similar areas like those in the document but strange enough they are not affected....
The PDF is exactly as expected on the Overprint Preview (using the very same outlined AI file, there is NO spot colors).

  • Exporting Illustrator File

I created this glitter background in Illustrator CS 5.5
The file contains only one layer with one normal solid color, and 4 different overlays with effects. I've tried to place the file in an InDesign file. It looks fine on screen. It also looks correct when I export to a PDF. However, when I export it as a jpeg or print out the PDF, I get this:
I know it has to be something with the illustrator file because even when I export the PNG file directly from illustrator, I get the same ugly result. I'm assuming it has something to do with flattening the file. It looks bad when I use the flattener preview as well.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this? Any help is greatly appreciated. I've spent hours creating it just the way I like it, only to have this mess! I've spent several more hours trying to figure out the file issue. My Illustrator skills aren't advanced, clearly, and I'm stumped! Thank you!

Without knowing your appearance options and layer stacking, nobody can help. This looks like you simply used out of gamut colors on a CMYK document, used spot colors that can't be converted to CMYK for same reason or have a wrong color profile assigned.
