I have Indesign CC. Would like to try Illustrator but free trial won't download. Using Mac OS X.

Adobe illustrator free trial

I have just downloaded adobe illustrator free trial, however it will not launch. Which folder/program should i put it into in order for it to launch?

Does Illustrator free trial turn off effects function? Wanted to check out drop shadow.

Downloaded a free trial of Illustrator for Mac. Wanted to create a sample logo to try it out. Effects functions like drop shadow aren't active (grayed out). Is that normal for the free trial? Thanks!

I'm doing something very simple, which is why I was surprised that it's not working. I'm creating a 180 x 180 pixel jpeg for Facebook's profile picture of a logo as a way to test out Illustrator. I created a text box, used a font called Zoinks (which is what our company logo uses) and typed out our logo. I was able to change the color of the font, add stroke to it and change it's size. But when I click on Stylize, all the functions to enhance text including Drop Shadow are grayed out. I couldn't find something in Preferences that I needed to turn on or off to unlock the function. So if it's supposedly fully functional, then either I have missed something or the download is faulty. I am leaning toward the the first option.
Any advice would be most helpful.

When trying to download the illustrator free trial, is said my mac was running on an operating system that the program does not support. What does this mean and how do I change it?

I'll admit, I'm not good with computers but it seems that it should be simple to download illustrator without any problems. I don't know what operating system my mac is and apparently adobe doesn't have people to call for help so I'm trying to ask here.

Click on the Apple icon in the top left corner and choose "About this Mac" Doesn't change anything, though. Unless you update your OSX, the programs simply won't install. the warning really means what it says...

The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Can I ask if the free trial version that I downloaded is supposed to function fully or is it limited in ways from the paid version?
Please answer this specifically....when I just downloaded the free trial of Illustrator, it seems limited in its function, for example, I can't right click on the tools. When I try to change the rectangle tool to an elliptical or ellipse, it will not let me right click or change this option. Please let me know if this option is not available to free trial users or is there possibly something wrong with my free trial program?

As Michael says, it should be fully functional.
However, sometimes the preferences are corrupted during installation.
To reset them, you may press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Win) or Cmd+Option+Shift (Mac), or Move the folder with Illustrator closed.

If you want Adobe to check it you'll need to contact them (use CHAT) but you could try checking whether you just need to SIGN IN to your apps.

Illustrator won't open on my computer.
I've downloaded the free trial of Illustrator, when I go to open the program the Illustrator logo appears on my start menu for a second and then disappears again and nothing happens - no error message comes up.
I am using Windows 7.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, restarting my computer, signing in and out of my adobe account and changing the compatibility mode, nothing has worked so far.
