Illustrator icon

I'm using Adobe Illustrator CS3.
Before I upgraded my illustrator to CS3 vision this is never happen. Now I cannot able to preview image from the illustrator file icon. Usually after we have saved the file as a .ai format file, the icon of this file is showing what it is in the file, but now I only get the AI icon that I cannot get any preview without use Adobe Bridge.
Can anyone able to help me with this problem?
Thanks

From which version did you upgrade?
The Illustrator thumbnail preview in Explorer was removed and has been unavailable for a couple of versions now. Apparently, there were issues with Windows that could not be worked around by Adobe.
Bridge is the answer.

  • My Trial Illustrator icon disappears after completing installation download

I am not a tech person, so please bear with me and thanks for any help.
I have a MAC OS X version 10.4.ll Processor is 800 MHz Power PCG4. My Memory is 1GB SDRAM.
When I go online to download Illustrator CS4, this is what happens.
An icon appears on my desktop called ADBEILSTCS4_LS1.dmg. When I click it, the Adobe Illustrator icon appears. Beneath it are three PDF files. When I click onto the Adobe icon, it then hit "Setup". The installer screen checking system profile comes on and is ultimately found to be fine. Then the Loading Set.up screen appears and I check "install" After a few minutes, both bars finish and a message saying "Thanks for installing Adobe Illustrator CS4" appears. When I hit "exit", the AI icon on my desktop disappears.
I have tried reloading this five times and each time the results are the same.
If someone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Many thanks!!!

  • Illustrator icon preview

    Hi all.
Just got a new iMac with Snow Leopard and the CS4 upgrade.
My question: how can I consistently create Ilustrator files with a viewable thumbnail icon?
I opened one of my old Illustrator CS1 documents, then resaved it to my desktop and miraculously, it showed me the thumbnail icon with a complete view of the documents contents.  So I thought: cool! Then I tried it again with another file and it only shows the Illustrator icon, no viewable thumbnail. Is there a particular way of saving the file in order to consistently show a thumbnail preview icon?
    thanks!
    B.

Files must be saved with PDF compatibility, as effectively the PDF part is what Finder uses to generate previews.

  • Illustrator icons keep changing to a PDF icon?

    Anybody know?
Why does my illustrator icon keep changing to a PDF icon each time i make a change to a file?
The only way I can get it back is to make a change to the title then change it back again.
Using illustrator CS3 and the latest adobe acrobat
    Thanks Sarah

  • Illustrator Icon in Creative Cloud

I have uploaded a 33mb file to the Creative Cloud.  It displays as an icon, and won't show either of the 2 artboards contained inside.  It happens in Chrome and IE on my Win7, as well as Safari on my iPad2.  Same as if I try to import an artboard into Collage.  This issue happened with just this file in both CS5 and CS6 versions of Illustator.
I have uploaded a few other Illustrator files with multiple artboards and various sizes without issue.  What is it within this file that is causing this problem?

After about 12 hours or so, the icon finally showed the artboard.  Tragically, only one of the two artboards made it to the cloud.
Just for fun, I deleted the file from the cloud, and re-uploaded it.  I now have two files that are represented with an icon.  Can't wait to see what they become in 12 hours or so.

  • Illustrator Icon in the Dock

    Hi everyone!
Is it just me, or is the Illustrator CC Icon bigger than the other CC App Icons?
Here is a picture of my dock:
Do you also have it like this, or is it just me?

It seems like the Illustrator CC Icon is the same size as the others now.

  • Illustrator icons

When I save an Illustrator file it shows the Orange Ai icon alongside the file name. Not so with photoshop or pngs or jpgs and most other files which show a small image which can then be viewed using quick view in )S 10.5.4 (space bar). Can this be changed somewhere?

Richard, it can be changed with a Quicklook plugin called SneakPeekPro by the folks at Code-Line Software. The plugin costs $15 but it's WELL worth it as it also works on FreeHand files, EPS files, and inDesign files.

  • Illustrator cc does save file icon

Small issue, but when saving a file, it will not save the file icon to show the file type (in this case a illustrator file).

    I attached an example.
As you can see, the illustrator icon is missing. CS6 illustrator icons show up just fine. Create PDF editable file box is unchecked.

  • What is the best way to upload icons I created on illustrator, onto a photoshop file of a website design?

I currently in the process of designing a website on Photoshop. I have designed some icons for the website using Illustrator. What is the best way to upload these icons onto the photoshop file and keep them looking crisp and high quality? I have tried a number of ways but all seem to come out pixilated.

What you need to do is make sure you are creating the Illustrator icons at the same ppi as the Photoshop document and at the correct size. If you have created the icons say with 300ppi but are in pixels it won't carry the same properties as the website you are creating if that has been set up as 72ppi and therefore will distort.
Once you have mastered that then you are best (if you think there may be changes to the icons later down the line) to create .ai files of each icon and place them intt the Photoshop document, then if you make any changes to the source .ai file it will update within you website design.
If you don't see the icons changing then you can always just copy and paste directly from Illustrator to Photoshop and make any changes on the fly by making sure you keep it as a smart object.

  • Illustrator File Icons are White?? Windows 7

I seem to have lost my icons for Illustrator CS2 and InDesign CS2 files. The files show as a standard white "page" icon, instead of the program icon. Since I often have multiple Adobe file formats in one folder, it makes it difficult to distinguish which ones are Illustrator vs. InDesign. Oddly enough, Photoshop files and GoLive site files show their icons for files.
I read elsewhere online that this could be caused by a cleaning utility program such as CCleaner when "{GUID} folders are deleted from C:\Windows\Installer." However, I can't find the answer as to how to FIX it.
I have tried using Windows>Default Programs>Associate a file type or protocol with a program to check that Illustrator and InDesign are set as defaults to open the files. I found that the programs were set to shortcuts within the Adobe folder. I fixed that by deleting the shortcut and putting the actual program link as the source to open the program. (Actual program .exe file was located within Adobe Illustrator> Support Files>Contents>Windows.)
Also, I have the Adobe CS2 Suite installed under Program Files (x86).
Thanks for any insight you can provide!

Update: I used  the program Default Program Editor suggested in this thread. It easily fixed my blank Illustrator icons, but my will not fix my InDesign icons, which still show as blank white pages. Well, I'm halfway there, at least.

  • Windows 7 File Icons

I am very frustrated because I upgraded to CC from CS6 and now my file icons are missing AGAIN. I had this problem when I upgraded to InDesign CS6 and it consumed a significant amount of time to get the correct icons to appear (I believe I may have had to uninstall, download and reinstall the software). I know it doesn't impact functionality but it looks unattractive and it's BROKEN. I have seen a lot of people mention having this problem, especially with CS6, I can't believe an upgrade came out with the same broken functionality. It blows my mind. I really want my icons to appear as they were intended.
Is there an easy fix for this? My internet is too slow to reinstall.
As you can see, the indesign and photoshop icons are both missing... the illustrator icon is the only one appearing correctly. All programs were upgraded the same way, at the same time - through the adobe creative cloud desktop app (the icon on the bottom left, not sure how people refer to that program/app).
    please help
    thanks in advance.

This happened to me, too, after I had set files to open on default with the 64-bit versions of InDesign, Photoshop, etc... I got these ugly white icons with the corresponding program icon in the middle--I hated them, they looked horrendous. I tried reinstalling the programs and deleting the icon cache file, multiple times, and none of it worked.
After weeks of searching for a fix, however, I think I finally got one that works!
    Run regedit through CMD+R
Back up your registry, just in case this doesn't work or something goes wrong (File > Export...)
    Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ FileExts \ .file_extension
replace .file_extenstion with whatever file type is having a icon issue, i.e.: .indd for InDesign, .psd for PhotoShop, etc...
Under the file extension there should be a key/folder named UserChoice, delete it--this is your culprit!
Repeat steps 3-4 with each file extension that has an icon issue
    Refresh your icons by:
    restarting your computer, or
    force refreshing your icons:
Start > Default Program > Set your default programs
Select your web browser, email client or any other item in the list
Click Set this program as default
    Click OK
I hope this works for you! Good luck!

  • Illustrator CS 5.1 won't open when we log in to our Macintosh workstations on home network(mac)

    Hi,
I have been asked by one of our customers the following question, please can you help!!!
The issue we have is that Adobe Illustrator CS 5.1 won’t open when we log in to our Macintosh workstations using an account with a network home area.
We have multiple OSX 10.6 workstations and our users have Open Directory accounts with network home areas on an OSX 10.6 server. All the other Adobe CS 5.5 applications (InDesign, Photoshop etc.) work fine with our network accounts, but Illustrator won’t open at all. When a user clicks the Illustrator icon to launch the program, it bobs up and down in the dock for approximately 2 minutes, then the program closes. No splash screen appears. I have tested this with several different accounts (including new ones created for this purpose) on several workstations with the same results.
When I tested this with a local standard user (not Administrator) account Illustrator launched successfully. There are no other differences between this local account and the network accounts other than where the home area is located, and where the account authenticates to.
    Thanks,
    Elfed.

    Hi,
I advised my customer to phone Adobe support and insist on getting free support as it is a install/configure issue.
