Illustrator is not launching/opening

Hi - I have just come back from maternity leave and found out my Illustrator will not open. Of course everyone at work says it was working just fine when I was gone - yea right!
So, I called support and they can't offer any help to me because I have CS2 Illustrator (unfortunately, my boss is too cheap to upgrade).
Anyone have a ideas of what I can do?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program.
The opening box does come on my screen, it freezes when it says it's initializing....

Oh - I also have CS1 on my Mac, but the applications closes on me as well. So I have nothing!
And my platform is Mac OS 10.4.11

If none of this helps try simply going to User/Username/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS2 (& CS) Settings and trashing those folders and the com.adobe.illustrator.plist well also in the preferences folder.
Then try launching Illustrator.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

CS3 Illustrator will not launch...help?

CS3 Illustrator will not launch on my MAC 10.4.11 all of the sudden. I created a new user on the same computer and it launches fine. All my main info and updates are on the "main" same computer where as the "new user" computer recognizes the same computer as being basically new. I tried to trash the CS3 prefs and even trashed CS3 in total and reinstalled it to no avail. ANy thoughts. Right now to use CS3 Illustrator I have to switch back and forth on the same computer to use Illustrator. Very frustrating indeed.

Also reset the Preferences two ways hold the sift option command keys while relaunching Illustrator or for a more thorough reset quit Illustrator and trash the following Users/Username/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings trash the settings folder.
BTW What type manager are you using?

I have a very new Macbook Pro 17 Retina running OS X 10.9.3. After purchasing Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard for download and installing, InDesign and Photoshop work correctly; however, illustrator would not. It seems sad that after recently purchasing the software the Adobe installer installed an old version 16.0.0. Illustrator would not install after the original installation, so I installed the first update 16.0.1 and then attempted to install 16.0.3 which failed. I then uninstalled AI and reinstalled fro the web and installed 16.0.1, 16.0.3, 16.0.4 and 16.0.5, restarting between each install for good measure. The resulting program will still not start with no error message provided.

Mac OS X 10.6.8
Last opened the application maybe 10 days ago.
When I try to launch the icon bounces in the dock, no splash screen...after a while I have to "Force Quit" - the application is not responding.
Rebuilt my permissions, checked for updates, restarted computer.
Nothing works.
Anybody got suggestions?

Try resetting the preferences of Illustrator:
Go To Computer/Users/(Username)/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 settings
You will find a folder named "en_US", MOVE the complete folder to the desktop.
Try to restart Illustrator.

Lion quarantine causing applications to not launch/open

Hello all,
I seem to have tripped over this quarantine bug in Lion. Newly downloaded apps simply sit in the Dock with the sphere pulsing, and disappear when clicked on.
I've found a few places that talk about possible workarounds with Terminal, but haven't been able to get them to work for me.

Is there anything new known about this situation? Is there any other workaround or trick to try? This is stopping me from being able to install any new software properly. I'm hoping I don't have to wipe the system and start over, but I'm not seeing much choice. Assuming I don't trip the bug during the rebuild process and end up back in the same spot....

Good questions, apologies for the vagueness.
Download app from 3rd party site, haven't confirmed if something from App Store has the same problem.
Copy app to Applications folder
Icon appears in the Dock with the plusing "I'm launching" sphere beneath it.
That's where it just hangs there, and clicking the icon in the Dock causes it to disappear and the launch to abort
I don't have an anti-virus running in the background, but I do periodically run ClamXav (about once a week).
I've tried uninstalling with AppCleaner
I've tried uninstalling manually
I've copied and replaced
I've emptied Trash, Logged out, restarted, tried the Terminal to flip quarantine bit workaround, etc -- all multiple times with no change in behavior

I innocently updated from the previous (working) version just this morning and realized this had happened with another app last week.

Illustrator is not launching.

I have tried all the procedures from the support team to launch Ai but nothing were successuful. There is a pop up message saying "Adobe Illustrator stopped working. Activate Verdana Font and restart Illustrator". All others Adobe software are working fine, so I assume the probleam is not in my iMac.
I tried to press Command+Shift+Option and doubled clicked it but didnt work as well.
I tried to uninstall the Creative Cloud CC, following the procedures given by the Adobe support Team (Mr. Moises Sanchez) but all procedures didn't work again.
Please help me.

You need to have all faces of the Verdana (and Tahoma) font installed and enabled, as TTF, not OTF.

Itunes 10 not launching/opening after install

i installed itunes on my windows xp and after that i double click it and the mouse showed the "wait" animation and then nothing happens..pls help
i tried reinstalling/restarting but no luck.

Quicktime does not launch / open. Assistance needed!

All,
After updating to the lastest version of QT the app will not open. It will bounce in the doc and then "poof" it closes without a splash screen or anything. Adium will also not open after the update.
Things tried so far:
1. Repaired the HD.
2. Installed 10.4.10 again.
3. Checked for the Perian component. I did not have it, but installed the version 1.0 anyway.
Does anyone have more troubleshooting steps? I am using a PPC and 10.4.10. I have never had and don't want to rebuild this machine because of one application.

ICal not launching open file events

I had automated Transmit file transfer events with iCal. All worked perfectly until I upgraded GarageBand last week. Then all events stopped working. Also anyhing that launched on startup stopped launching. I've run fix on permissions and even started up in single user mode. Apparently that fixed the problem for one day then next day things were bad again. Appreciate any help.

That sounds like more than an iCal problem. What apps have you set to launch at startup? Can you launch them manually?

no, the file is OK, I have test when the PC after restart, illustrator can open it one, but after open the same file, close then reopen the file by illustrator, it fail again, only have open the same file with illustrator, do not have open any program

Illustrator will not launch after update(CC) and then also upon uninstall then reinstall.
Any ideas? The application was working fine untill I did the upgrade.

reinstall your apps
if yes, reset your preferences: hold down Option+Command+Shift while starting. you will see a confirmation dialog if done correctly.

Photoshop Elements 10 will not launch from it's tile in windows 8

Photoshop Elements 10 will not launch(open) from it's tile in windows 8,if I restart the computer then try it, it launches. but once I close the program and try to launch it agian from the tile it won't launch (open)
What going on ?

You might unpin (Unpin from Start) the photoshop elements 10 shortcut from the start screen and then go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10 and right click on the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe and choose Pin to Start.
And/or if you want an shortcut on the actual desktop you can use Send to>Desktop (create shortcut)
Perhaps the shortcut directly to the pse 10 editor will work better when using the start screen.
