Illustrator issue - loaded fonts missing

I have recently installed CS6 on my iMac and added all my special OT fonts into /Library/Fonts. When I open FontBook they show as active and available. However when I open Illustrator, half the fonts do not appear. I wondered is it was a CS6 Issue, so uploaded all fonts to InDesign in the ap Font folder and InDesign works fine. The issue seems to be Illustrator specific. I have seriously spent hours looking for an answer, I haven't found anything online that explains. Can anyone help?

How many such fonts you have installed? Sometimes few fonts and Illustrator do not cooperate with each other nicely. But you may try disabling few fonts and see which font is causing issue, it will require some hit and trial effort at your side. At least you will be able to use rest of the fonts, if you can identify the problemetic font. I also had this problem once, and found out of around 100 fonts there was only one font which was creating problem. Once I identified it, I could use application smoothly. You may try it too.

Loaded font missing in Photoshop CS6

Loaded font active by opening file but while editing suddenly not active anymore. Photoshop therefore gives an error and refuses to save the file.
Fonts are not used in smart layers.

Right, i'll do that. Problem is with multiple fonts, so... I thought maybe using windows truetype and other fonts? It looks to me there is a font id conflict. Also by researching the adobe forums I see the same problem mostly by windows users.
Problem is that the fontmanagement program after checking nothing says about fontconflicts.

Illustrator Issue Tools Panel missing

Having an issue where I have no tools upon launch. I though I was missing something but this seems to be the case. I have been using all version of Illustrator for more than 10 years, but I had to google how to get the tools panel open, Window > Tools well check out the screenshot no such option. I did get some error message upon launch that something or other had not loaded, guess that is what is causing that. Going back to CS6 now, any idea whats happening?

Illustrator CS5/CS6 on OSX 10.9.1 - Issue with loading fonts.

I'm using Illustrator CS6 on OSX 10.9.1. Ever since I've upgraded to OSX Mavericks, Illustrator has stopped loading some of the document fonts even though they are enabled and available for other applications. I get the font missing dialog every time I open the artboard after a system restart. I usually resolve this by opening the Font Book app, disabling and re-enabling the fonts. This refreshes the artboard and the fonts then appear to work as normal. Initially, I suspected a compatability issue with Illustrator CS5 and OSX Mavericks, but after upgrading to CS6, I continue to have the same issue. The fonts in question are ttfs and these worked fine previously.
How can I fix this?

Illustrator wont open, stops at loading fonts

I have Illustrator CS6, Mac 0Sx 10.8.5. About 2 months ago it wouldn't open and keeps stalling when loading fonts. I have uninstalled and re-installed twice without any change. I have tried taking out fonts that it gets stalled on but then it stalls on the next font. I also use Photoshop and I'm not having an issue opening.
HELP!!!! This as been over 2 months without being able to use this program.

2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Font missing issues

After seemingly resolving 'font missing' message when opening a document, the font is still highlighted in pale pink and I can't seem to get rid of it. Can anyone help?

Strangely enough, I seem to have resolved the issue myself, by removing the fonts from Font Book. Your last reply popped up as I was removing them, and I was going to reload them to font book, however when I went to inDesign to open the document and get you some screenshots, the issue seemed to have resolved itself, leaving me baffled, as I thought I had to have fonts installed in Font Book to be able to use them?
I do have a secondary issue with another font, Knockout, though. I have added this to Font Book, for use in the same document (I had no issues with this one going missing though), but when I view it in Font Book, it appears as shown below? Do you know why?

Photoshop CS6 Internal Font Missing!

Help, I was using Extensis Suitcase Fusion 4 trial, and it ended, but when it did now because I can't use it, somehow it must have removed or just had de-activated the photoshop internal system font. All of my panels and menus etc except for the top windows-menus lists, but everything else is missing - blank. I can't do anything in photoshop practically speaking. Cannot see any layer names etc... normal type-tool and fonts loaded show up, but nothing in the program itself. So I can't even enter numerical values for anything. Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, Muse, Bridge, Premiere, After Effects - -- all of these are working just fine.... what is the specific font I need to re-install for Photoshop to display? It is the same font that starts listing when you open the program on the splash logo where it is saying "loading fonts" etc and all that stuff, its just blank... so please whatever that font is I need to know and install it to my windows directory again so I can use photoshop. Hey, got it fixed but I'm having trouble really nailing it down to why it happened... it has something to do with the arial font that photoshop uses and I must have not had it loaded... I can only repeat it within the program by using Bitstream Fon Navigator to load all the arial fonts and when it does - it replaces whatever is loaded when photoshop starts - then the photoshop UI drops all internal fonts when you hover or switch panels etc... but when I close and open again it works fine -- so it must have been that the Extensis trial ending dropped a key font that photoshop was looking for - and once I got it to find it again now it at least keeps it somewhere to load each time the program starts... hopefully this won't happen again but at least I know that I just have to load all arial fonts to get it back. Thanks for the help either way, tried the resetting preferences but I couldn't even see any text in the window to reset it.

Loading fonts into FInal Cut Pro 5.0.4

Is it possible to load addtional fonts into FCP 5.0.4?
I loaded the font into all the font folders I could find and still they have not shown up in the Final Cut pro fonts? I restarted twice?
Am I missing some hidden file that I must load the fonts into?

There is no provision for loading fonts into FCP. Use FontBook to add fonts; choose to make the fonts available to all users so they'll be installed in .[boot drive]/Library/Fonts.
But even with that, FCP won't see just any font. FCP seems to be partial to TrueType Data Fork fonts.

Symbol font missing problem

I have a Visio design containing symbols from Symbols font (in Windows) converted to PDF and then imported in the Illustrator CS 6. It says the symbol font missing and substitued with 'Myriad Pro', and those symbols are shown as crossed ('X'). As suggested in some posts, I tried to replace this font with <Symbol> font (tried others as well) using 'Find Font', but it didn't replace. Can some one tell me a working solution, preferably the solution to the missing symbol font problem itself, if not a way to replace.

Placing seems to work even without flattening, but as you said cannot edit text anymore.
Regarding the other solution, that is where my problem was. I tried to assign the correct font (and with some other fonts too just to check) to the text objects, but Illustrator doesn't seem to accept as the font remains the same 'Myriad Pro' all the time! It is infact what 'Find Font' does for font replacemet, if I understood correctly, but alas this too doesn't work.
Until there is no better solution, I can at least use the edit restricted place method for now! Thanks Monika for that.

Opera fonts missing/garbled? [solved]

I just did an Arch installation on my desktop out of curiosity, and it is FAST AS A MOTHER(rhymes with)TRUCKER ... now I can see what the whole rage was about! I've been running it on my 233Mhz Dechutes laptop w/212MB ram and THAT runs well, man!! 2.35 Ghz really shows.
Anyway ... I have installed (via pacman) xorg, xfce4, opera, and some other misc stuff, and when using opera, I can't help but notice that there are fonts missing. I have opera set to pop-up a progress bar at the bottom of the page as things load, and I see a lot of boxes, empty spaces, and sometimes kanji characters. Also, in the transfers window, there is no text at all. Like where the filename, size, etc. should be, there is just blank space. Very weird.
Is anyone having a similar problem? Is there a font pack that I should install or something? Everything runs spankin ... except for opera. And that still runs very spankin, just the fonts ... they don't.

I had the same problem...
In opera no text in transfer window, in console - corrupted MC...
Fixed it by changing my locale=en_US.utf8 to en_US.85... can't remember exact numbers... You just edit /etc/locales.gen file - uncomment that en_US.85...... and then save and run locales-gen...
It workeg for me now i have a beautifull MC in console and everything else
I'm using fluxbox...

Fonts missing in Flash that are installed

Hi there,
I've created a layout in Illustrator using Myriad font,
however when I import into Flash (on the same system) it says the
font is missing. Sure enough Flash doesn't have Myriad in the font
drop down, even though it is installed on the machine & visable
to other apps. What's the problem?!

A bit of additional information... The Myriad font is a True
Type. It was installed under C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Adobe\Fonts so I have installed it under C:\Windows\Fonts and
restarted Flash, however it still doesn't show up?

Issue loading itunes on windows 7 home premium 64

Hello All ,
Kind of a computer newbie here with issue loading the new iTunes 9.0.3 software onto a new pc.
here is situation
Just got a new gateway dx4831 with windows 7 home premium 64 os preinstalled, down loaded the new software this afternoon. iTunes and QuickTime seemed to load and install correctly. Go to click on iTunes shortcut on desktop and nothing happens. Quick times loads and seems ok. Have tried to uninstall and download a couple of times but same issue.
Please help this computer newbie out

Thursday's tomorrow for you? If so, I'd try (on Thursday) both uninstalling the Norton trial and then running Symantec's Norton Removal Tool. (There's an unpleasant possibility of "undead" Norton componentry surviving the uninstall and continuing to molest your iTunes and/or BonJour.) Here's a link to the Tool:

And the built-in Windows firewall is not to be sneezed at (and also free). That's what I'm currently running on this particular box.
I'm planning to eventually install a Norton of some description on the Lenovo, but that's mostly because it's handy to have hands-on access to a version of the software when helping folks to configure it for their iTunes ... (Yes, I agree that that's a bit of a perverse reason for installing security software.)
