Can I start an illustrator project on a mac and continue working on a pc, then go back to mac?

Also, do you know how to transfer an illustrator file to the iPad version
of illustrator? (I have an iMac, not a MacBook, so travelling and working

Reader Comparion - Mac and PC

Adobe Reader for the PC does not display all colors.
It's embarrassing when the client is expecting one thing and receives another.

I created this in Illustrator (Mac) and it looks fine in both Acrobat Pro and Adobe Reader. Yet the PC version of the same pdf is completely off.
Has anybody else experienced this... is there a fix?

I wasn't complex so I didn't us layers, just the gradient tool in Illustrator.
Funny thing is that Quick View on a Mac (holding down the space bar) gives the same view as the pc version of the pdf.

He had recently upgraded from wht we now know is 18.0 to 18.1 which is the latest version. He read the above artic
le and supposed that it was a bug fix release for his version - because the v17 ov18 number is not often displayed. It is usually just 2014 CC.
I have asked him to post a bug report about Adobe Illustrator CC 2014.1

MacHD/Users?<yourname>/Library?Application Support/Adobe/AdobeAICS#/Presets/en_US/Swatches would be a place to start.

Illustrator CS3 and CS4 crashes on two different Mac Pro systems

We have two Mac pro systems. Both are running 10.5.6. As of this morning both systems crash when trying to save files from Illustrator CS3 and CS4.
I'm not sure if this started with a corrupted file, and when we tried to work with it on both machines it effected both.
Does anyone have an idea?

Do use TimeMachine for data;
SuperDuper for imaging the system;
Clone the system at least twice: known good backup image and for testing.
Clone or image can be just a sparse image created with Disk Utility.
I would also keep user accounts separate from the system and on 2nd drive.
Rather than reinstall, use alternate systems. You may even need to do what others have learned to, one system for specific task or configuration.
Use different user accounts.
Don't rule out plist or preference settings or corruption.
Normally I use Disk Warrior to keep a system maintained but TechTool Pro (5.01) will do more to check files for integrity and errors, and useful addition.
If I was building a sytem today, I'd probably use 10K WD VelociRaptor or two for system, some scratch drives in stripped RAID for editing and saving work, and then media drive(s). With 3 backup sets of work.
Apple now sells OS X 10.5.6 on DVD, replacing the 10.5.4 (and 10.5.0, shame there is no upgrade program) so they must feel 10.5.6 is gold. Not all software and hardware though does, but Sonnet just posted updates for their SATA Tempo card drivers. When it comes to production, newest and latest is not usually best.

You can also try resetting AI preferences.

Do you get any crash report. Look if it says anything for Wacom or extensis?

Are there any differences between using Adobe Illustrator on a MAC and on a PC?

I'm about go enroll in a class specialized for teaching Adobe Illustrator in order to be able to use the program at work. The company that I work at uses Macintosh computers to deal with clerical work and everything, so I would like to know if there are any differences between using Adobe Ilustrator on a MAC and on a PC. The school that offers training teaches two types of classes, where one uses Illustrator on a MAC, and the other one on a PC. The PC class is able to have an earlier start date, which is why I'm sort of leaning towards choosing that class as I need to be able to use the software as soon as possible, but if there are main differences between the interface that will affect my knowledge of using Illustrator on a MAC after I take the class with Windows systems, then I will most likely be waiting for the class teaching in MAC systems.

Reading through the CS5 vs CS6 performance thread, the Mac version seems to have worse performance than Windows version. From a starter's perspective the differences would most likely never be realized. It will take some time to see differences between even CS5 and CS6 other than the visual aspect of course.
Definitely take the CS6 versionso you can say you have it. CS5 is my preferred version, CS6 is garbage with the bugs it has for the type of work I use it for.

You should be aware that the newest version, CC, is only available as a subscription.
CS6 can be purchased at Adobe, or second hand, see below.
Older versions such as CS5 can only be bought second hand, with a licence transfer through Adobe, requiring that the licence has not been used as a basis for an upgrade.

Uninstalling Illustrator CS6 and Prelude CS6 Mac Betas

I was on beta team of CS6 and before release this past week was experiencing an issue with Adobe Application Manager. A very unhelpful and uninformed Adobe Tech rep demanded that I uninstall all beta apps manually. I knew this was wrong but followed his advice. Now installing from the Creative Cloud and am getting error messages in Illustrator CS6 and Prelude CS6 installations that there are conflicting files. I cannot locate these conflicting files using Spotlight. All other apps installed without a problem. Since I removed all of these beta files, including uninstallers, manually (following the bad advice of about the worst tech rep I have ever experienced), I have no uninstallers to find these files. I recall that after the cs5 beta cycle, there were several clean-up scripts available to remove any residue of beta software. Does such a script exist or is there a different way to find and remove those conflicting files?

I apologize for the experience you had with our support representative. They were partly correct though with asking you to remove the beta version prior to installing the released version but you would have wanted to use the uninstallers. At the moment I would recommend running the cleaner tool. I use Illustrator CC, but after watching Libraries CC, I went to my Window panel on my Mac and "Libraries" isn't a choice - Am I missing an Update or ?

After watching the great presentation on Adobe Illustrator about the usefulness of Libraries across several Illustrator platforms, I went to the Window Oull-Down Menu - No "Libraries" in the List. There were individual Libraries (Colors, Swatches, etc) at the bottom, but no Libraries CC for the uses demonstrated in the Video.
Do I need an Upgrade that I've missed? I pay my monthy user fee every month but don't know if I've missed an important new Version of Illustrator CC - and if I have, please tell me where I can accomplish the Upgrade.
