ILLUSTRATOR NOT EXPORTING AS EXPECTED...

Hello,
I have small illustrator problem, have a look at the attached pictues. I have drawn a rectangle and everything is on top of it in illustrator but when saving as PDF the bas rectangle (grey in color) doesnot appear in PDF file. I have set the document color in PDF preference to dark blue, which is what appears in the PDF even if it is set as white or default setting in Acrobat preference does not help.
How can i make it to show the base rectangle in the PDF file.
I once did it, saving teh file as EPS and then distilling it as PDF in Distiller, it worked but now it does not.
Please help
Thank You

Hello, firstly i would like to thank you all for the responses,
but can i rectify you Mr Wade Zimmerman, please...!, thanks
1.The color designation is simply to make a visual seperation (the dark rectangle on top of light rectangle are to draw attention of the reader) in the map (its a location map that i have drawn).
2.There is no blue path or rectangle that i have drawn in Illustrator beneath all the layers, its the background color of my Acrobat interface (Acrobat Page color) set from the Arobat preferences (Ctrl+k).
3.I want to keep the Acrobat page color blue and i want Acrobat to show the light grey path that is drawn i Illustrator. Don't no if it is going to possible again because i had done it once before. I had saved the .AI file as .EPS and then distilled it in Adobe Distiller, it worked then but i don't know why it is not working now.
4.Remember to please download and check the .AI and .PDF files.
5.If your Acrobat page color is default white it 'll show light grey rectangle kin Acrobat, but try and set the acrobat page color to any other color from preferences and it will show the set color rather than what ever is drawn in Illustrator.
Thank You and i hope the point is crystal clear.

  • Illustrator not exporting at correct pixel size...

Hi, im having trouble setting up an illustrator doc that exports at the correct size so i can work with exported elements in photoshop, using CS5 for both.
What i am trying to do is set up a wireframe illustrator doc for creating iphone 4 artwork, the iphone4 screen size is 640px x 960px (326ppi).
So, i have set illustrator to measure units (general, stroke & type) in pixels, then created an artboard 640 x 960. If i draw a shape to fill the artboard then export it, the exported image is 2892px x 4348px
Similarly, if i create an image in photoshop thats 640px x 960px, then open that image with illustrator, the artboard thats created for it is 141.35px x 212.025px
Can anyone suggest what might be causing this? and how i can correct it so that my pixel measurements match in both programs?
    thanks

Third, what do you expect to happen when changing the "Document Raster Effect Settings". The OP didn't mention  anything about using raster effects and unless such effects are used these settings will make no difference.
Forth, while your statement about higher ppi adding more clarity is correct, have in mind that this is valid mostly when comparing the same size with different pixel density, otherwise your general conclusions and logic is wrong. The major difference between different pixel densities is not clarity but the size of the pixels and thus the size of the final image - the clarity is  by-product of this. In order to define clarity you have to add the viewing distance in the equation. I have created images for billboards and huge digital murals with pixel density of 10 ppi and I can assure you that all images with such sizes are created with similar pixel density. According to your logic they should be completely unclear and impossible to see comparing to images displayed on i-phones.
When creating for phones and other small displays, in order to see exact details of the final raster image with nothing less or more, the vector graphic in illustrator has to be zoomed to the same physical size on your screen that Photoshop is displaying at 100% zoom using an image with the final pixel dimensions. it is also a good idea to have the image on an additional window zoomed out to the real physical size of the phone screen to get the feel of the final physical dimensions. But because desktop monitors don't have the high pixel density of the phones, the detail will be lost when displaying the real size. Moving a little bit away from the screen to Increase the viewing distance when looking at the larger image with all details in it, can very well approximate the final experience.

  • Illustrator not exporting properly

After exporting a gradient the color didn't seem to be exported properly:

Yes, it's a gradient on a stroke.  I think you helped me make it.  I saved or exported it under just about every type of format and they all seemed to have those white triangles.  I fixed a JPG version in photoshop with the content aware tool but if Illustrator has a bug I thought I should post it.

  • Adobe Illustrator Draw will not export to desktop Illustrator with the photo layer turned on.

Adobe Illustrator Draw will not export to desktop Illustrator with the photo layer turned on. This severely strains my workflow and makes it incredibly hard to add the image after it is exported to the desktop Illustrator. Is this being fixed??

This is a new bug in our latest release, and we apologize for not catching it before it went out. We are putting together a patch to address the issue. The only workaround at this point is to delete the photo and then send to Illustrator again.
    Thank you,

  • Illustrator Launch Error: Windows registry was not in the expected state.

    Hi All,
I just upgraded to CS3 Design Premium, and I'm I'm getting the following error when I launch Illustrator:
"The Windows registry was not in the expected state. PLease run the Illustrator installer to correct this problem. Illustrator will continue to run, but may not operate properly."
I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 on a dual Xeon workstation with 4GB of RAM. I found the following article in the knowledgebase, but it did not solve the problem:

I have also uninstalled CS2, reinstalled CS3 and reinstalled CS3 *again*.
Illustrator does run, but it's slow and unstable. Any thoughts on what's going on and what I can do to fix it? Many thanks!

  • Acrobat/Indesign does not export correct into the selected output intention (eci_iso_coated_v2_300)

I use the CS6 suite with Acrobat XI at windows platform.
When I want to save a file from InDesign as .pdf with output intention eci_iso_coated_v2_300 the result is a .pdf with more than 300% ink coverage.
I tried to transform the result in Acrobat XI into this standard output intention, but also the result has more than 300 % ink coverage.
What is the reason of this bug?
Before with Acrobat X this worked without problems

    Hi Rob,
I was told the new way to work would be to draw files via Bridge direct into the InDesign file
and I thought automatically the color would not be changed.
my colourmanagement setting in bridge for the whole CS6 was  ECI isocoated_V2_300
The Illustrator file was saved without color profile.
    In this test file I used 3 kinds of black: background of pirate in cmyk 79,34 / 72,78 / 59,38 / 79,88 = ink coverage 291 %
DÜSSELPIRATEN in “black” (if you would convert this in the file with the cmyk button it would be the same ink-percentage as before
    “e.V.” was set to 100 % k
I set the preferences for Acrobat from InDesign CS6 as pdf X4 with profile eci isocoatedV2_300 in three ways:
    no color conversion
    convert to profile
convert to profile keeping existing values
in all tree files the pirates background has 322 % ink coverage instead of 291 %
Why does Acrobat convert “black” in the wrong way?  If I click in Illustrator on the 4c button to convert the “black” into 4c it is 291% ink
Acrobat should come to the same result with all profiles: iso coated V2 and iso coated V2_300
The same happens also by saving as .pdf X3 or .X1
The minimum what I expect is, that Acrobat reduces ink coverage for black to 300 %
I also made test with the new ECI profiles for laminated prints from 2012.
    And with newspaper profiles
In this case the ink coverage comes below 300 %, but only when I choose convert to profile.
And then the 100 % k converts to cmyk, what I don’t want to have with text.
Is there no way to reduce ink coverage below a special percentage without changing Text 100% k
And is there a bug in Acrobat XI with the ECI IsoCoated_V2_300 Profile? For there is no color reduction below 300 % in all conversion settings.
I can’t test this with Acrobat X or IX, for my computers with this software don’t run with CS6 64 bit.
    enclosed you find my files

  • White shapes not exporting as jpeg

Hello there. I'm having a problem exporting illustrator files as jpegs. The problem is sometimes (but not everytime) objects -compound or not compound- with a white fill and no stroke will not export with the jpeg. When I save as a pdf everything is fine. I've also tried changing the white objects subtly to include some other colors but that hasnt worked. I am exproting with a size 7 image quality, cmyk mode, screen depth, anti alias and embedded. Any help would be much appreciated since I am exporting many files per day. Thanks!

Illustrator won’t let you set a process white fill or stroke to Overprint. But it will let you change a coloured object to white, without altering the Overprint setting. I commonly run into this problem with logos that were originally black. A production-poor designer (nothing wrong with that, by the way) will open the black logo, set the fill to white, and save as Logo_REV.ai. That’s the reason we have production artists, and why we are paid almost half as much as designers.
There is no preference to have Illustrator turn the overprint off automatically, and there is no warning that the overprint setting remains and will cause problems.
Oh, wait, that’s not quite true. There’s this:
Pathetic. Not the kind of professionalism you would expect from version 14 of an industry leading application. Sadly, that is the kind of performance I have come to expect from Adobe.

  • Which functions and features in Numbers are NOT exported correctly to Excel?

I wish to know EXACTLY which functions I use in a Numbers sheet WILL FAIL to export correctly to an Excel or Neoffice spreadsheet.
For instance, I created a Numbers spreadsheet using prolific use of the IFERROR function. However, when I EXPORT to XLS, all the cells that used the IFERROR function were replaced by the literal value of the cell. My IFERROR formulae were not EXPORTED as I had expected.
I note that some formulae were converted correctly in my EXPORTED spreadsheet: eg MAX, MIN, AVERAGE.
I understand that IFERROR was a function introduced recently to Excel, ie in the 2007 version. Consequently, I suspect that Numbers exports to a pre-2007 version of Excel. If so, which version?
I have found this list that shows which functions are compatable amongst various versions of Excel:
    Excel Functions: Compatibility Reference (2010, 2007 & 2003). (n.d.). Retrieved from https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsHau4_IeCfwdG45c0VhcjBBUGNreVo2ZzN NRU1BT0E#gid=0
This list shows that, for instance, IFERROR exisits inb both Excel 2007 and Numbers-09. So why is IFERROR not exported?
Curmi, J. (n.d.). Summary of function in excel and numbers-09. Retrieved from http://curmi.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/functions-in-excel-and-numbers- 09.pdf
Some examples of my use of ISERROR in Numbers are as follows:
    =IFERROR(RANK(C47,$C47:$J47,1),"")
    =IFERROR(MEDIAN(C51:C58),"")
    =IFERROR($C32-C88+1,"")
I use the above function to  carry out the calculation ONLY IF  a cell is non-blank and contains a number.
    More questions
What are the rules that Numbers uses to convert to Excel?
Is Numbers converting to the 2003 version of Excel? ... or an earlier version? ... which version?
Why desn't Numbers advise me there were conversion errors or simplifications made?
eg: "Cell A33 Function IFERROR was exported to the cell value for Excel"
Is there a preference that I can select which version of Excel that Numbers will export to?
In the meantime, I must abandon Numbers and use NeoOffice!

    Thanks,
I applied your suggested ISERROR transformation to examples such as:
    =IFERROR(RANK(C47,$C47:$J47,1),"")
    =IFERROR(MEDIAN(C51:C58),"")
    =IFERROR($C32-C88+1,"")
However, a caution for young players....
Certainly, the ISERROR function exports to .xls. However, it behaves differently in NeoOffice.
Items 1 and 2 function identically in the case of say, ranking a row in which some cells are blanks.
Item 3, when translated using ISERROR to =IF(ISERROR(C32-C88+1),"", C32-C88+1), results in "" (ie error is raised) in Numbers but yields figure 0 in NeoOffice when there is a blank in either of the cells.
I  recall from programming school in the mid-1970s that using GOTO statements and On Error branch statements were not admissible as routine programming steps. In fact, we received an automatic fail grade if we used a GOTO or GOTO like construction. So, I have found a more programmatically elegant way to solve my problem: eg:
    =IF(C88="","",C32-C88+1)
Curiously, earlier I found/suspect this does not work equivalently in Numbers and NeoOffice:
    =IF(ISBLANK(C88),"",C32-C88+1)
When you try using ISBLANK you always get an intuitively unexpected result because ISBLANK ONLY gives TRUE when there is absolutely nothing in a cell. A Formula reference in the cell, even if the function result yields "", gives FALSE... because, according to the definition of ISBLANK the cell contains a formula.
As I tell my students, ALWAYS lookup the HELP on any function you use. ALWAYS test the function to see how it performs!.... and lesson 3: Always test your spreadsheet on different systems.... then hope!

  • Page headers are not exported to excel files - can this be fixed in 2008SP3

    I use 2008, SP3.
I am experiencing a problem with exporting to Excel(.xls): the page headers, but the very first, are not exported.
The report page headers consist of weekdays and the corresponding dates, meanning they are different on each page.
The report looks OK in pdf and doc formats.
Is this a known problem or limitation?
Is there is a way to controll the export to Excel to correct this problem?

  • Keynote symbols not exporting to PDF

How do I make Keynote export % symbols to a PDF? For some reason it is not exporting. I tried using multiple fonts. I was pretty surprised to see that Keynote was leaving characters off of exports. Usually Apple is pretty good about accuracy.
    Yosemite OS 10.10.2
    Keynote 6.5.2 (2119)
    Macbook Pro 15 Retina
    Fonts tried:  Helvetica, Futura Std
Could not export % symbols adjacent to numbers

Sorry. my bad on version numbers. The latest patch for CS4 is 6.0.6, but you might want to stop at 6.0.5 if you have file with imported Illustrator graphics because, if memory serves, the 6.0.6 patch changes the way they are scaled on relink.
Do you actually have an InDesign Document open when you go to File > Export...? I presume the answer is yes or the command would not be active.
When the export dialog opens you should see a standard file save dialog with a large area that shows folders and files, and two fields below where you can enter a name and choose a file type to export. What do you see in the file type field? If it isn't PDF, can you click the arrow on the end and choose Adobe PDF?
What is showing in the name field? Are you able to enter a new name of your choice?
I suspect that at some point you may have changed the name of the PDF you exported from the file (the default is to use the same file name, but you can enter anything you like), then saved the .indd file after doin the export. When you do this you embed the new PDF file name into the file and it will always be selected the next time you try to export. If I recall correctly, exporting to .idml or .inx, then opeing that and resaving as a new .indd should clear that, and simply changing the name for the export to match the filename  of the docuemtn may work as well.

  • Png files not exporting in correct color code

Hey everyone I've had this continual problem in illustrator with png exports, for some reason my png's export with duller, less saturated colors than what I am seeing inside of illustrator. However, my jpegs export correctly. I've been able to figure out that my png's are not exporting with the correct color code (sRGB), even if this option is selected in "save for web" options. I have been having to open the png's in Mac's preview program or opening them into photoshop and exporting with sRGB profile embedded from there. I figure there must be some setting I don't have selected within illustrator. Document color mode is RGB, working space is sRGB, "Color Management Policy" is preserve embeded profile, and under the "Assign Profile" option it is set to working space RGB: sRGB. Any suggestions?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the color management you are using.
I suspect that you are using Illustrator CS6.
Although you can specify that the image has to be converted to sRGB (and it probably does), the profile is not embedded in the file.
The latest CC version does, although you cannot check a box: ICC Profile like you can when saving JPEG.
I think the reasoning behind this could have been: "PNG is a web file format. and Browsers cannot be trusted with colormanagement, most of them think that all files are sRGB, so why embed the profile..."
So you did the right thing by assigning the profile in Photoshop.

  • Podcast not exporting chapters

Hi all. I have a podcast episode here (~45 mins) and for some reason, it's not exporting chapter markers in AAC exports (through iTunes or to disk). It is based on a template project that I have used in the past (last time was ~May or so), and those worked fine.
I just tried to re-export another podcast I had made previously, based on the same template project, and it exported exactly as expected. So there's something with this file, it would seem.
    The Console log shows this:
[0x0-0x558558].com.apple.garageband[38040] An error occured while parsing the TeXML document.
    [0x0-0x558558].com.apple.garageband[38040] Line: 1, Position: 4865
[0x0-0x558558].com.apple.garageband[38040] Description: An internal QuickTime error occured (6)
    GarageBand[38040] Audio engine overloaded, resetting
Seems like GarageBand isn't generating the podcast XML properly for the conversion process? I looked in the .band bundle, but didn't see the file to examine it.
    Help?

There was a '&' elusive and hiding behind some uppercase letters. I needed to borrow some blueblocker sunglasses and hunting gear to find it. Wiley little ampersand. Those things are tricky to catch.
May I now say that I think that it's completely stupid that Apple doesn't filter those text strings, or at least notify in the help what the allowed characters are? About to submit a bug report.
    Thanks for the help.

  • GB will not Export to Disk???

Working with GB 3.0.4 on iMac G4. I have created a video podcast. Upon completion I have been trying to Share / Export to Disk. I assign the location for saving as my Movie folder. GB goes through the Mixing, converting, compressing all right and all seems to be in order when the process is done. But upon completion, I check in the Movies folder and the file isn't there. I cannot locate it using Spotlight either. I have been able to export other video podcasts to disk prior to this. Any ideas?

Sounds to me like it is having trouble with its video
codec. Have you tried any of the other export options?
Regarding Garageband not Exporting to Disk.......
I created a new Garageband file and placed a short video into the Podcast track. Added some text and jingles. Then did a Share/Export file to disk. All went as expected but there are 4 steps involved in the export....Mixing, Converting, Compressing and Finishing. The file that would not export did not complete the last step, Finishing. The test sample did and the file was exported to my desktop as directed. So, I then created another new podcast....imported my movie into the podcast track......copied narration from the "bad" podcast into the new one....added my jingles and then did Share / Export file to disk. This time the podcast completed all four steps and the file in m4v format was placed onto my desktop as directed. The first garageband podcast was corrupted or had some defect that did not allow the 4th "finishing" step to happen (writing the file name to the assigned disk space). Hope it doesn't happen again.

  • Muse is not exporting the correct fonts.

I was just about to update my website when I did a browser preview and noticed that two sections are not exporting the correct fonts. The font is not only wrong, but the size is dramatically increased - so much so that it is breaking the design (things that should be one line are now two) so much that I can not update the website until this issue is fixed. The one thing I know is related is that the error is only happening in three boxes that I recently worked with and did change the fonts (all of them typefi fonts) in design mode to look at the differences, but in the end I did not keep any of the changes. I checked and it's the same problem in both Firefox and Chrome. But, it is showing the correct fonts in Muse's preview window. Does anyone have an idea what's going on?

You are not the only one having this problem i have a problem now with my system fonts only showing some of the families in that font
atm i can't find my helvetica font in muse but i can see it fine in photoshop, indesign, and illustrator.
its kinda pissing me off cause there is so many bugs atm with muse and fonts. and all we get each time is small ways to get it to work. then a new update comes up for muse and ruins it all again…
they really need to fix this.

never mind.  i think it just makes you review the information -- it looks like you have to click through everything.
