ILLUSTRATOR/P.SHOP EPS HELP!

Hi People...
I've got a fairly tricky one here involving MAC OS X 10.52 - Leopard.
Using illustrator/photoshop CS3. Also using quark/indesign.
I generally save my photoshop images as EPS rather than tiff.
I double clicked a photoshop eps in the finder recently and it open in illustrator, so I went back to the file in the finder, got info, and changed it to "open with... adobe photoshop" So now all of my illustrator files with the eps extension open in photoshop when double clicked, and if I revert to open with illustrator, "every" .eps opens in illustrator.
Is this some annoying glitch or is there a way to specify on leopard/CS3?

Done a fair amount of "googling" on this, and have a solution!
Go into you user folder, library, prefs, and trash the following preference...
com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
restart, and all's back to normal :-)

Any error messages? No
Did you have previous versions of the software on your system? No
Is the trouble with the download or the installation of the software? I am not sure but i think it may be the download. It shows that the download was complete and icon appears on the desktop. I plan to buy the ''Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium'' but i wanted to try it first via the free trials, especially Photoshop and Illustrator. So please let me know what i need to do.

One simple way would be to save as/print to PDF, then print from Acrobat/Reader.
You could also make a copy of the file, then change the Artboard size and scale up the artwork and print from that (presuming you still wish to work in A4 or something).

Dropshadows with white box from logo created illustrator EPS, HELP?

Does anyone know the best way to keep a dropshadow we created in illustrator for a logo? we have tried a photoshop transparent file, the element created in illustrator (in this case an oval with a blur) and everytime we place in InDesign, we get a white box, frustrating!!!!

By vendor, do you mean the printer? or the client?
If the client:
1) Politely say No.
2) Then explain to them patiently, like to a child how 2+2=4, that EPS is not a valid nor modern file format to use with InDesign and that you are the expert and are being paid for you expertise in such technical design matters.
3) Otherwise, you take no responsiblity for the output and will have them sign off on that fact to cover your ***.
The client, in my experience, only wants a product that meets or exceeds their expectations. They don't have to know how you did it.
If a printer:
1) get him/her to explain why or how it must be EPS in a InDesign workflow. Then if not satisfied with their explanation...
2) get another printer who is working in the 21st century.

Upgraded to Tiger and now can't open any illustrator files! Please help me!

I upgraded my OS to Tiger and then updated to 10.4.8 and now can't get any of my Illustrator EPS files to open. I have spent the whole day trying to figure this one out (Launch Services advice in other posts) without any luck. What is going on here?!!! I have so much serious work to get done this weekend!

It's hard for anyone to offer any advice when you don't tell us what specifically is happening or not happening. Is there an error message? If so, what does it say? What version of Illustrator are you using? Does Illustrator open at all? Does it open regular Illustrator files? Have you reinstalled Illustrator?

Newbie question: placing Illustrator .ai or .eps file in InDesign

I have an Illustrator file consisting of text which has been converted to outlines. When I place either the .eps or .ai version of the file in a new InDesign document, the text is composed of blocky pixels which make it not only unaesthetic but also unreadable. My goal is to place it so that it looks like it does in Illustrator and is resizeable as a vector. This is my first shot at using InDesign so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, I just can't figure out what. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

You likely are just looking at the low res proxy image. It is to keep the layout peppy.
View > Display Performance
or right click any image and go to Display Performance to adjust it individually. Can be set globally too in preference.

Adobe Illustrator CS4 [TAdd] Error HELP NEEDED!

I recently restored my HP Workstation and began the process of installing Adobe CS4. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until I clicked both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat.
Adobe Illustraitor presents the [TAdd] Error while it is loading up the font menu during it's opening.
I've been looking all over for answers and so far haven't found any. Please help!

I'm not sure about the [TAdd] error, but if it's crashing while loading fonts, it's likely to be corrupt font caches.

If that doesn't help, then you can always try deleting your illustrator preferences, as they get corrupt from time to time as well.

Question about Illustrator CS5 making eps files in Mac OS 10.9.5

Hello, I am using Illustrator CS5 on a Mac. I just updates to Mac OS 10.9.5
Now when I save an simple Illustrator vector file as an eps, and place it in another program (such as Quark), I get code instead of the preview image. I tried older vector eps files, and they still work. i tried older Quark files, and they still work. I ruled out font problems. I tried importing new Illustrator ai file, same result. Any thoughts?

Ask in the AI forum and include proper details about your export settings and your artwork. EPS parsing errors usually mean you chose an unsuitable combination of settings and/or the embedded previews are botched.

I just want to type something in Adobe Illustrator and rastersize the image so I can upload onto a transfer designing site to have a transfer made of the image. How do I do that?

I'm not sure what your skill level is, so please forgive these instructions if they are too simplistic.
1) Type some text using the Type tool, highlighted in the image below:
2) Go to File > Export.
3) And, like Steve said, select the file format the transfer designing site indicates.

How to use vector file without adobe illustrator?? please help

I am using the free trial period of adobe illustrator to creat a logo. I don't want to buy illustrator b/c I don't plan on using the program for anything else, I would like to save my logo in some kind of vector format so I can use it for lots of different printing options. But I can't figure out how to do this b.c my computer won't open the file without illustrator. Is there anyway to creat a usable print friendly logo without buying illustrator? Thanks for any help!

I believe if you export it to wmf or emf you will have a Vector file that can be used in word or powerpoint and can be placed in other programs as can ai files which can be placed in word or powerpoint documents as vector files.
Flash (swf) is another way of saving it and it is also vector.
However even though you say you will never have use for Illustrator which is what I thought in 1995 when I use it to create a logo, I soon found more use for it and every year since have found a project that has rewarded me many times the cost of the application once I had purchased it. Most of which I never thought I had the need for and probably would not have even made the attempt to make the effort and the profit if I did not own the license.
And every time I say to myself what do i have this application for the opportunities arises yet again.
I thought I would share my experience with you.

Looking for Photo shop 6 help.

I am new to Photo shop and Photoshop element 6 came with my new Epson Scanner... I am in the process of scanning hundreds of slides that I have from years ago. Some of them are in need of help. I can't seem to find the help I need for Element 6. I am trying to fix a couple now that have a crackle look to them...I have been trying with the top photo of our son who is now 44, so that tells you how old these are.
Our daughter on the right is now 49 and handicapped so really want to try and learn this. Like I said I am new to this but follow directions well and want to learn, thank you so much.

This program has a steep learning curve. There are many books available to assisit you - check in the library.
Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manual by Barbara Brundage is excellent. It is available at Amazon for a bargain price, since the latest iteration of the program is Photoshop Elements 9. However, since you have v.6, I would work with that. You don't need all the bells and whistles to start with.

As for your second picture, it appears to be in better shape.
I restored the faces of the little girl and the lady with the healing brush tool, and got rid of most of the glare in the eyes. (Don't know if that is in v.6, if not, you can use the clone tool)
I boosted the contrast .
The thing to remember when restoring these old pictures is that the enemy of good is perfection. One can touch up a spot here and there with the brush tool, but it is apt to look fake when carried too far.

All adobe applications work like a dream. Except Illustrator. Can anyone help?

I just recently bought a iMac 5K retina, base model. I've been using all applications for a while now and while everyone one of them works like a dream, illustrator is extremely choppy and unworkable. As in, when I drag an dartboard, it slowly gets dragged. In fact I didn't have this problem on my Mac air. Can anyone please help me?

I've posted the same question on their Illustrator community. But haven't gotten any replies so far.
Here's the thing though. When I use the exact same illustrator file on my Mac air (late 2011, I think.) it works perfectly. No lag, no choppiness. I've installed Yosemite on that as well. So I don't know what going on.
In fact when I use applications like premiere pro and photoshop on my 5K iMac, it works without one iota of a lag. I just don't understand why only illustrator is having this problem. And since I 80% of my designs are done on illustrator, I'm feeling a bit nervous. I wonder if any other 5K owners are experiencing anything like this...?

Error 1011 in shopping cart - HELP

I selected The Postal Service "Give Up" album. iTunes will not let me purchase it, or remove it from the list. It will also not let me purchase anything else while it is on the list - and I can't remove it. When I try to purchase I get the message "Your shopping cart's content has changed. Please review your shopping cart and click Buy Now."
When I try to remove the album, I get the "Could not remove an item from your cart. An unknown error occurred (1011)"
Help me out here - I can't do anything!

Ok so I admit it I have been using it as a wishlist and its big...
I can modify my behavior to the wishlist.
But that doesn't solve the current problem that I get this error and I can't do anything with the cart. Acesss, buy, delete... nothing.
BTW I'm a proud cube owner.

Illustrator CS4 Keyboard Input HELP

Hello, I have searched these forums (as well as the interwebs) up, down, left, and right so I apologize if this has been brought up before.
This problem began shortly after upgrading to CS4 so it never occurred in CS3.
Anytime illustrator is opened, shortly after I lose almost all function of the keyboard. This not only applies to illustrator but also any other programs open at the time (exe: firefox, skype). I can only input ONE character, then, the keyboard basically becomes useless, unless i click in the window somewhere which then permits me again, only ONE character input.
This has rendered my shortcuts in illustrator, any numeric entries, and any control+keys useless. The only fix, is closing illustrator, reopening, and using again for 5-10mins before the keyboard fails again.
If i jump into another program (with illustrator open), like firefox for instance and try to start typing a URL, the first letter i type works fine, but each subsequent letter i type in simply replaces the first one (the letter highlights itself like if i clicked and dragged over the letter, then the new letter just replaces that).
Another issue with the keyboard, is that sometimes when i start to enter characters, it will jump to another program I have open, for instance, illustrator, firefox, and skype are open. Start to type in the skype chat box, and all of a sudden firefox jumps to the front.
Also, if open up CS3 illustrator, that same problem now occurs, however it never occurred prior to CS4.

I had a similar problem with my mouse until I replaced it. There was something awry with the cable connecting the mouse to the computer. Since you say you have replicated the problem across various OS's and various keyboards, not sure where to direct you other than your computer manufacturer. It can't be a CS4 issue because you're experiencing the same problem with Firefox and Skype, right?

Illustrator CC Trial Crashes HELP!

I download Illustrator CC trial 2 days ago and all seemed fine and I've been playing about getting to grips with it and I'm definitely going to purchase afterwards as I was so pleased with the results it was giving me. That was till I turned on my laptop today only to find that illustrator and the creative cloud programs had been deleted. I've been through every possible step on these forums to correct it. I finally managed to clear everything so I could re install adobe cloud and I downloaded my trial again for illustrator.
Then it decided that it would load up but immediately shut down and then ask me if I want to continue trial ... so obviously I said yes. Nothing loads up again!!
HELP ME!!! It worked for 2 days before without any problem. I have more than enough space on my computer and screen resolution.
I am so confused and a bit disheartened.

You may try to run the Cleaner Tool,
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
and then restart the Creative Cloud application by quitting and relaunching it.
