Illustrator path with breaks in it, renders with gaps in Photoshop

Question

Running current CC versions of both apps. I've a logo design that requires paths pass in front and behind each other such that it's necessary to break the path to create the effect. The path was broken with the scissors tool such that both points on the path are at the exact same location.
The break in the path is visible in both illustrator and photoshop as a hair-line gap. In fact, it only shows up in illustrator at some zoom levels, not all. When I paste/place it into a Photoshop document, as a smart object, the breaks in the path are visible as slight gaps, even when rendered at low-resolution. I've tried creating a slight overlap in the path where the break is, but this is rendered as a slight lump in the path, so it's also undesirable visually.

I assume you want the paths to remain as paths, and not shapes.
There is no need to break your main paths. Just use the Direct Selection tool to select the portion of the gray segments that overlap, then copy and paste in place. Move them to the top of the stack; trim down as necessary.
