Illustrator Smooth Color Blend Stops Working
Hi,
Sometimes for no apparent reason the blend tool decides to just stop blending in smooth color mode. When I click "make blend," there is always 1 step between gradients.
This happens to other users as well. I tried restarting, resetting blend tool parameters, and nothing works. Smooth color blend is a must. I'm on CS3, but this happens too in CS and CS2.

I have had this problem with CS2 and it is probably a bug. I just go into the blend dialogue after making the blend and reset smooth, or select a large number of specified steps to make it work. Is this dumb or what?

You could try to reinstall using the full three step way:
Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

I just figured this out.....When Firefox is open, my Illustrator CS2 modifier keys stop working?
As soon as I shut down Firefox, they start working again. Please help!

My Illustrator CS3 & CS6 are stop working
My Illustrator CS3 & CS6 are stop working. The AI file which I created by Illustrator CS3. My Illustrator CS3 used to work fine, but recently it is stop working when I tried to save the AI file. The AI file is a package design which contain text and images. It can be opened and edited on my colleague's compute but not mine. I thought I installed Illustrator CS6 will solve the problem, but same error window pop up.

Illustrator CS5.1 has stopped working

I just bought CS 5.5 and am having a lot of issues with Illustrator. I was working on a drawing and I was able to save it until I tried to change the colors on my lines and now everytime I try to save it the program says Adobe Illustrator CS 5.1 has stopped working and that windows is going to close the program. I am also having issues with certain documents, which when I try to print them the print dialogue box won't even show up. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program but it didn't fix any of the issues.
Any ideas on what the problem could be or how to fix it? I really appreciate any help!First of all I would try and trash the Preferences.
Then check your printers, printer drivers and connection.
Also check your fonts.

Issues with Win 7 & CS2. Illustrator and Photoshop have "Stopped Working"
Hi, New to this so I apologize in advance. Bought a new computer in December '09. 6gig quad processor and plenty of 500gigs of disc space. NOt a Memory Issue! Installed CS2 ( 'cause the computer took all of my money!) and all worked fine until 4 days ago. I mainly use illustrator and photoshop. When I tried to save a document... The programs simply "Stopped Working" I'm a rookie with the tech stuff so please speak slowly and simply.... I would appreciate any help as I'm losing money and work right now! Thanks
CS2 is totally unsupported under Win 7. And if you have 6 gigs of RAM I'll guess that it's a 64 bit system which simply adds to the complexity.

Every so often -- as often as every few days, but it appears random -- the color profile (ICC profile) associated with my screen stops working. There is only one profile, and it's the default. But sometimes the screen suddenly becomes bluish (as is usually the case with uncalibrated displays, if you have any experience with calibration you know what I'm talking about).
It's easy to fix. I just open system preference, and then the Displays preference pane, and without me doing anything further the system fixes itself, and the screen goes back to normal. But it keeps happening.
I wonder if this affects/has affected anyone else, and is there a solution?
My display is simply the built-in LCD display of my MacBook Pro.It could also just be a corrupt preference file that won't hold your setting. Go to the Preferences folder in your user account and move the following file to the desktop:
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
This file holds a variety of settings besides your monitor. So you may need to search through various settings and reset them. If the problem persists, then it may be hardware related. In which case you could put the file on the desktop back into the Preferences folder. Though if you've already reset all of your Preferences back the way you like them by that point, then just delete it. -
Adobe Illustrator CS2 preview icons stopped working
Has anyone seen this? Is there a solution?
All my .ai previews are now generic icons, they used to appear as a preview of the file under Tiger...This is really annoying -- I have hundreds of these!

AI have the same problem (but I had it with Tiger to). First (with Leopard) it was OK, but it suddenly stopped working. I haven't changed anything and can't get it working again.

Illustrator CS2 OSX Palettes stops working
Hi!
I have a user running OSX 10.4.11 on an Intel-based iMac G5. She's using CS2 (yes, I know we're a bit slow to upgrade ), and she's having some problems.
Lately, Illustrators palettes will suddenly stop working, which means she's unable to select layers, colours etc. She can draw, use the menus, select tools etc., but the palettes just won't work.
I've tried removing the preferences, but with no luck. I would prefer not to reinstall Creative Suite, since that takes quite a while, so I'm counting on you guys to help me!

ThomasClose any mm Multiple Master fonts you may have open. Fonts like Kronos MM can cause this. Use fontbook to close them adn any utility like suitcase which also might have a mm font open. Symptoms of this are you change the point size, and it instantly returns to the original size.

W520 External Color Calibrator stopped working with updated Pantone v1.1 software
Can someone from Lenovo help me with this issue? Lenovo updated the color calibrator software in Aug 2012. They broke an external color calibrator working. L1/2 has been completely unhelpful. I also escalated to customer service with little result except that they say it is not Lenovo software and they do not have to support it! Unacceptable, the software isprovided by Lenovo. Lenovo doc also says an external color calibrator is supported. Lenovo needs to take responsibility for fixing this. Here are the email chains. I really want a refund or someone to ensure this package that Lenovo distributes is fixed!

I do not want this case closed and disagree. This is Lenovo provided software and according to Lenovo an external calibrator is supported. I want someone to take responsibility for getting this fixed. Lenovo has provided this software and needs to work with the vendor to ensure it works. Who do I need to speak to in management? I do not appreciate the way support has just shuttled this around and nothing has gotten done.

I have the internal calibrator I purchased with my W520 and also an external calibrator from x-rite. The device is an i1 Display 2. The external calibration is what fails with the updated calibrator software package.

Hi Doris, Thanks for your time, re: case 184142. Can we get this package fixed? Jeremy’s response below just makes no sense to me, same as that call center in Atlanta is so problematic. I work in IT and when I phone that call center I really wonder sometimes whether I am even speaking with another IT person on the other end of the line. These are Thinkpad, mines is an expensive one, and I am very upset that this is the level of support I get (especially after upgrading my warranty even!). Please see what you can do. I would also like a manager to speak to DeAndrea at the call center. I am sure the calls are recorded and he was completely out of line and not helpful. Can someone have a look at the Pantone 1.1 package. I am using an eye one display calibrator with the updated Pantone software and the calibration does not work. I get an error about an 8 bit image missing (have attached a screenshot). The calibration is not correct and Windows Photoviewer is pink. This was working OK with the v1.0 of the software (no longer on the w520 driver page). The error message is "There was an error loading the specified profile. Please make sure the image has an embedded profile and it is an 8-bit image." This was working fine before the update to v1.1. Thanks

I just left you a voice mail. One of the reasons I bought this laptop was for 3d photography. If I cannot use an external color calibrator and display then the laptop is not fit for purpose for the reasons I bought it. This software is ONLY available from Lenovo. According to Lenovo’s own doc, and the software’s doc, an external color calibrator is SUPPORTED. Lenovo needs to step to the plate and fix this. Not ME. If Lenovo needs to go to Pantone, or x-rite, then they Need to do that. Lenovo provided software that is not available to the public from x-rite or Pantone, and the software is to support Lenovo provided hardware (least so far as the internal calibrator), this software ALSO supports an external calibrator for use with an external display. The software supports both internal and external, and I would like to use my external display for 3d photography. This needs to be fixed please.
What are we going to do to resolve this? At his point of the runaround I’ve been getting I would like a complete refund.

As you know the ‘software’ purchase is by virtue of purchasing the laptop with the color calibrator. Are you saying you will refund my cost for the calibrator? I don’t think you quite get how much time I have spent with support with this laptop. I have had multiple issues with the it. The calibrator, failed BT adapter, Sudden Shutdown syndrome (where the machine would just shutoff on its own –well documented in the Lenovo forums and I have at least a dozen emails on this issue) as well as many issues with the Displayport connection and an external 3d display for which I spent months working with Nvidia to resolve. This laptop has wasted a huge amount of my time. The support has been atrocious.
I would like a refund for 1. The laptop 2. The external color calibrator I cannot use because the software from Lenovo does not work (this package is NOT available from x-rite as well –It is sold to Lenovo). I have a receipt for the color calibrator and would be happy to provide that.

Illustrator CC Color Picker not working

On selecting a new color in the color picker, the object does not update to the new color until you choose OK. Anyone else with this bug?jjangik,
The usual Color Picker bug is that there is a two colour bar to the right of the rainbow bar.
The following may still help, hopefully.
It seems that the issue is caused by a corrupt folder called en_US or similar (depending on language) within the Adobe Illustrator 18 Settings folder, see post #7 by Jules in this thread,

so the solution should be to move or rename that folder (or the whole Adobe Illustrator 18 Settings folder).
You can find the folder in Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed. -
Color Picker Stops Working in DW CS6
Every so often, when I use the color picker from within Dreamweaver CS6 to select a color from an image or background, etc., then try to change that color (slightly change the brightness up or down using the system color sliders), it will act as if it is changing the color in the slider, but when I click OK, the color does not change. After many frustrating attempts to do it over, I will quit out of Dreamweaver and go back in, but it still will not work for me. I just experimented to see if it is system wide. So I opened Fireworks, tried the same change and it worked fine in there. Maybe Fireworks uses a different Mac system setting or something. But not sure what the fix is. I think I end up restarting my computer to get it to work again. Can't remember how it starts working again. But this happens often to me. Has anyone else experienced this and know the work around? I am using DW6, iMac 2.8 Ghz Core i5, 16 GB RAM, Mac OS X 10.7.5.
Any ideas?

Color meter stopped working after 1.1.1 update
My color meter reading only shows ... instead of numbers since the 1.1.1 update. Anybody else with the same problem? Any solutions?
I think I now understand what is happening:
Whenever I have the 'Levels' checkbox checked (in the Head-up display), and for the same photo have moved the 'Shadows' control slider (under Highlights and Shadows) away from zero Aperture goes beserk. It maxes out the processor as long as the photo in question is displayed (either full screen, as preview, or in the loupe, although not for the miniatures). At the same time Aperture still stays reasonably responsive.
In this state, it apparently is not able to manage the calculation and/or display of the RGB values. Since this problem might only occur with certain raw formats I am posting one of my raw files here:
