Illustrator to Photoshop integration problem. Need help.

Hi there,
I use these two applications interchangebly, creating vector artwork in Illustrator that I bring into Photoshop to integrate with photographs and to texture my vector artwork, etc. I've been using this method for a few versions now- I like the flexibility but like many Adobe innovations, I've encountered a problem.
My document in Photoshop is 9' x 12", and for consistency, I make my Illustrator artboard 9" x 12" as well. I can mix and match all day inside of my Illustrator artboard, then copy that artwork directly into Photoshop to have it seemlessly land on the same coordinates in my 9" x 12" PS document. BUT- If my artwork in Ai crosses my artboard borders, copying my artwork into my PS document constrains it within the 9" x 12" PS doc.
It makes sense- I get it, only had this been the case the first 3,000 times I've used this method! I've been working all day WITHOUT that happening. I've been creating inside of my Ai artboards, some of that artwork has portions crossing enemy lines, and upon copying it into PS, it was a perfect translation. I was integrating like a pro, no questions or qualms.
About an hour ago, PS and Ai stopped talking to one another. I'm left to push in on my monitor with watering eyes to make sure every pixel lines up- which they don't.... To make matters worse, when the Vector Smart Object enters photoshop, sized within the bounds of the document (rather than directly translated) with free-transform already enabled- All I can do is zoom in and out and pray to Adobe that holding shift will snap the edges of my vector artwork to the edges of my PS document. WRONG. It's off, even by just a few pixels after 10 minutes of resizing efforts- that's unacceptable. It's disgusting that this is a road block.
I thought a fix would be masking all of that Ai artwork to the size of the artboard, then copying it into Photoshop. Same problem- why would PS take into account masked artwork data? I understand that it shouldn't throw it away, but it's masked for a reason! One doesn't even edit the Vector SO inside of PS- PS tosses you back into Ai when you want to edit that vector artwork anyway...
My once seamless cross-app composition has gone rogue, and any time I bring artwork from Ai to PS that bleeds over the artboard, it is resized to fit inside of my Photoshop doc. Again - I get it - had this been the way Ai and PS integrated from the beginning, middle, and end. But now I'm in the middle, and the two of them are telling different stories.
Long story short- this abrupt workflow change seems to have activated at no fault of my own. I'm very autonomous, and I check my tracks when I create to avoid this awful "WTF did I do?!?!". Can anyone provide any leads, or perhaps a solution, as to why my applications have stopped working together? I hope all I have to do is check a little box somewhere...

Mask boundries haven't meant anything since CS4 I beleive. I reported it as an integration bug a couple years ago.
I think vector masks should create the boundaries when pasting into Photoshop. The bounding box shouldn't use or see the masked areas at all.
So.... I feel your pain at times.
What helps is to adjust the Photoshop preferences and uncheck "Resize Images During Place". That way your art won't resize. Then you can snap the edges of the visible data to the document edges.

Installing problem - need help

New to this forum - hoping someone can help - I downloaded Adobe Creative Suite 6 in "stops and starts" over a period of 20 hours as I had to sleep, go to work, etc - but it seemed to pick it up where it left off when I fingered the pad to "wake it up" and managed to finish the whole download. Everything went fine - accepted codes, etc - and installed. But an "exit summary" said that installation had failed for Illustrator and Photoshop, and, indeed, Illustrator and Photoshop are not here to use . . . now what do I do? Was the download the problem? do I need to "uninstall" everything and start over?

Zen Micro problem need help

Today i was listening to music and my zen micro just froze while playing and no buttons could be pressed and the lock button wasnt on. So i took the battery out and rebooted the player but it froze at the creative screen. I went home and i went to recovery mode and tried to reload the firmware but it said erasing firmware for more than 2 hours. So then i tried a format but it said formating for the same amount of time. I need help please. Also, recently i've had problems witht the headphone jack. When ever i would stick it in it would sound distorted and i would have to move it around until i got it to a certain spot to hear it good again. If anyone else has this problem please tell me. One more thing i had returned my other micro zen in for hard dri've probems and this was my new one do u think if i have to return in (hopefully not) that they would accept it.

If the functions in Rescue Mode aren't working properly then you need to contact Creative Support.

Illustrator and Photoshop integration

Can anyone tell me if Flash works with integration of older
versions of Photoshop and Illustrator. I've read about new
integration tools and wonder if the new tools only work with CS3
versions of other Adobe software.

Illustrator's true integration is that it allows for making
symbols, just like you would in flash. This is illustrator-centric,
so you'd lose that. You can still import .ai files though.
Photoshop's integration is nice with the layers, but
honestly, you could do all this before with .psd -> quicktime.
.png's behave better.

Now we find all those producer consumer pairs which satisfy the criteria Pi>=Ci
We have the following sets

(5,5)(6,5)(7,5),(8,5),(9,5)

Let us done each of them with Si
so we have S1,S2,S3,S4,S5
we assign a third parameter called weight to each element in Si which has satisfied the condition Pi>=Ci;
so we we will have
(5,2,ai),(6,2,bi),(7,2,ci)....etc for S1
similarly for S2 and so on.
We need to find in each set Si the the pair which has the smallest weight.
if we have (5,2,3) and (6,2,4) then 5,2,3 should be chosen.We should make sure that there is only one pair in every set which is finally chosen on the basis of weight.
Suppose we get a pair (5,2,3) in S1 and (5,2,3) in S2 we should see that (5,2,3) is not used to compare to compare with any other elements in the same set S2,

In your example you selected the pair with the greatest
distance from the first set, and the pair with the least
distance from the second. I don't see how the distance
function was used.
Also it's not clear to me that there is always a solution,
and, if there is, whether consistently choosing the
furthest or the closest pairs will always work.
The most obvious approach is to systematically try
all possibilities until the answer is reached, or there
are no possibilities left. This means backtracking whenever
a point is reached where you cannot continue. In this case
backtrack one step and try another possibility at this
step. After all possible choices of the previous step,
backtrack one more step and so on.
This seems rather involved, and it probably is.
Interestingly, if you know Prolog, it is ridiculously
easy because Prolog does all the backtracking for you.
In Java, you can implement the algorithm in much the same
way as Prolog implementations do it--keep a list of all the
choice points and work through them until success or there
are none left.
If you do know Prolog, you could generate lots of random
problems and see if there is always a solution.

If you iPod is defective, in warranty and not abused Apple will replace it with a refurbished one. They may or may not replace it with the white one. You will have to ask.
Other users have asked the same question but I hav never heard them come back with whether or not they go the color changed.

Another Infinite Login Loop Problem - need help badly

Hello. I need help.
When I start up my iMac (24 inch last generation model) I can't log into the OS. When I enter my password I see the default OS wallpaper (nothing else) then it kicks me to a blue screen then right back to the login. Same thing over and over. I've already ran disk utility off of the install CD to repair permissions, etc... but no luck. This even happens when I enter into safe mode. I'm running the latest version of the OS.
Can anyone help me?

Restore the bootable backup/clone or Time Machine backup. Without one, you have a difficult situation. First thing to try is boot with your install disc, run Disk Utility, and repair the disk.

Urgent Problem, need help asap.

Hello everyone,
I'm sorry for the alarmist title, but I need help and I need it badly. Just last night, my macbook froze with nothing working. The mouse froze, the interrupt keys didn't work, nothing. I shut down the laptop, and tried to restart. I noticed a clicking sound coming from the lower left hand corner of the macbook. I'm assuming this is the hard drive.
What happens is that there will be two clicks happening in a rythmic fashion, and after 15 second of booting up, a folder will appear with a question mark on the screen. The only thing I can do is power it down. Can someone please describe what is happening and make suggestions?
The kicker is that I'm a college student studying in Denmark for the semester. The laptop is my only lifeline to back home. Please, any help is greatly appreciated.

You may have a disk failure or simply corrupted files. If you have a bootable backup that is working, then you can boot from it, erase your hard drive, then restore your backup. If not then do this:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If the drive is OK then you can reinstall OS X:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.

2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

EBS-Interconnect Integration problem - Need Urgent Help

I am facing problem while trying to connect Oracle Interconnect with Oracle ESB using BEPL Plug-in feature.
I was actually going though one document on ESB-Interconnect integration and follow all the steps. It did create an entry to ESB console but not able to import Interconnect's BPEL Plug-in Application to ESB console (What I was expecting to get after completing ESB-Interconnect integration).
All step that I have covered are given below. Can someone help me ASAP. This is kind of a show stopper issue for me.

I see what you are saying. Actually, I have already thought about that Option (Creating an AQ in between so that Oracle Interconnect can write to and EBS can read from for a particular message). Thanks for reminding me about this.
I was just trying to see Oracle Interconnect's BPEL Plug-in capabilities. I will try to run "regadapters.bat / sh" few more time to see if it works this time.
Unfortunately, I don't know dutch but you can always send me what you wrote. I will try to translate the same using some translator.

Photoshop stopped working, need help!!!!

Hi, was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I’ve been trying to fix a while now. At my wits end!
I'm unable to use the any of the tools and features in Photoshop CS5 and also unable save and most of the time open anything.
Basically, it will open up and run as normal, doesn't crash or anything like that but if I try and do anything in it (ie. transform, paint, image adjust ect) nothing happens. The paint tool for example will maybe draw a line for a few seconds but will instantly disappear once I stop drawing whilst all the other tools will do nothing at all. I'm also unable to do things like copy images to or from Photoshop to other programs like illustrator or inDesign (which are still running perfectly)
I have absolutely no idea why it has started doing this and haven't changed anything on my computer nor altered the drivers or photoshop preferences. Been using photoshop for years and never encountered anything like this. I have reinstalled three times with no change and also tried installing an old version of CS3 but does the exact same thing in that too.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? Would really appreciate any suggestions got quite a few deadlines coming up so really need to get this sorted.

Welcome to the forum.
I second Curt's suggestion to trash Prefs. They can become corrupted, and uninstalling/reinstalling will NOT change the Prefs file.
You say that you have not made any changes, but how do you have your OS set, regarding updating?
Did not catch your OS, but with Windows, the default is to automatically update, and this is usually transparent, in that the user never even knows that an OS was performed. The problem with this is that a simple OS update, or hot-fix, can render, say a video driver obsolete. If one is using OpenGL, an obsolete video driver can create issues. I would check your make/model of video card/chip, and then the installed driver. Go to the mfgr's Web site, plug in your model of card, and your OS, and check to see if you have the very latest video driver. If not, download that, follow the instructions carefully (usually just install and reboot, but check), and install. I think that Mac OS updates include video driver updates, but am a PC-only guy, so do not know for certain.

Ok so, I made a deal with the local PC shop, I will be trading my time as a photographer for a large portion of the cost of hardware that they would otherwise not be selling. Some things they will have to order but most of the things I need even the high end stuff they already have. So Money is of no object.
I am running into issues with my current system being that it is nearly 6 years old and I custom built it for under $150 Monitor included. Since then I have upgraded my Camera Equipment as I have become more and more sucsessfull with my photography business. I am currently shooting 16.7 Megapixel files with my Canon 1DS Mark II and 22 megapixels with a rented hasselblad with a Phase One Digital Back. Frankly my 700Mhz machine just isn't cutting it. It's time to upgrade.
Now Normaly I would go All Mac and Get a top of the line G5 Quad processor unit fully upgraded however I am still young and dont have good credit dispite all my efforts and they just wont finance me. so this local PC shop is my only hope. Thus I need a top of the line system.
This computer is going to be expandable so I need to have extra drive bays so a Full Server Tower is in order I think!
Also I am opting for aluminum Case because it is more conductive than plastic and should help radiate some of the heat this GOD BOX is going to Generate.
I could use some specifics for each of the areas, if anyone has experience with high end systems and would like to recommend hardware I am all ears. The information is only a light template. "think of it as a layer" nothing set in stone. However I would appreciate a swift reply because I will be building the system in less than a week!

I heard that having seperate hard drives is the way to go to improve performance. Also It will help me keep things organized and easy to reformat if I have a problem with an OS. here are the specs a friend suggested.

180 GIG Serial ATA Raptor HD for Photoshop dedicated Scratch Disk
180 GIG Serial ATA Raptor HD for working files for Quick accessing (temp files).
two 320 Gig Serial ATA Raid slower more reliable Hard Drives for a Mirror Raid setup image reduncancy is a good thing for photographers when a currupt Hard drive means missed deadlines lost clients and lawsuits!! YIKES!
2 DVD + - Combo Drive's that can accept dule layer dvd's unless anyone has heard of the Maxell Holographic Optical Storage Media coming out early january?? 120MB/s transfer speed, 50+ years archive life up to 1.6 terrbytes of storage!! I cant wait until its in production!

I need the best most reliable PC Mother Board that can accept the fastest long duration memory, I am aware that there are some types of ram that have higher speeds but cant move as much data at a time. Since much of what i do is batch processing longer periods are a better solution for me than faster acceloration.
This is strictly a photoshop machine No games no email just photoshop the way computers were made to run.
Whats the best motherboard that suports dule / quad processor systems??? are there quad processor systems available for PCs? can photoshop CS 2 muchless Windows XP 64 support such hardware?
it's got to be 64bit processors dule core if possible
someone told me Dule channel DDR PC8000 is the way to go, ANY Comments?
Whats the best CRT Monitor for under $1200
I specify CRT vs LCD because LCD still dosn't have the quality in dynamic range that CRT have, and the DMAX of a LCD is much more worse than the Dmax of a CRT.
Some obvious perifials are Firewire 800 and 400 standard and USB 2.0 ports
is there any news of Photoshop accepting more than 4 GIGS of ram in the next update?? If so I may opt for a 8 G

Ok so, I made a deal with the local PC shop, I will be trading my time as a photographer for a large portion of the cost of hardware that they would otherwise not be selling. Some things they will have to order but most of the things I need even the high end stuff they already have. So Money is of no object.
I am running into issues with my current system being that it is nearly 6 years old and I custom built it for under $150 Monitor included. G5 DVI to VGA Dell Monitor Connection problems, need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hello,
I'm running two dell monitors both of which were connected via DVI to my g5 quad dual dvi. My tv broke and I'm using one of my monitors to connect the cable boxes HDMI input to the dells DVI input, it works great.
My problem is that i still want to run two monitors from my mac and still be able to switch channel sources from the Dells source button allowing me to switch from TV to Mac. Since I took up the dvi port on one of my monitors to connect to the cable box via HDMI, I have a free DVI cable. I purchased a tiny converter that allowed to change one end of the free DVI cable to VGA. I used this method to connect the cable to my g5's dvi port and the configured end to the VGA port on the monitor with no luck.
The Dell monitor does not pick up any signal and just goes to sleep as if my computer does not exist. The TV works fine and I'm able to switch sources. Please note that I'm not using the DVI-VGA adaptor that came with my g5 and don't know if this would make a difference. If it does, how do i set this up because this adaptor is like 5 inches long.
Does the adaptors DVI end need to be connected to the back of the g5 or does the VGA end need to be connected to the monitor or does it not matter. I need a longer dvi-vga cable as well, do they make them. This all depends if the problem actually is that that I'm not using the DVI-VGA cable that came with my mac to connect to the monitor in the first place.
Can anyone help me out here. I'm using the Dell 2208WFP Ultra Sharp.

Bad adapter?
The G5 ports are DVI-I. Any good DVI-I to VGA adapter should be fine.
