Illustrator Won't Export Large File
Hi, using Illustrator CS. My Illustrator document size is 10,000 x 1920 pixels. I need to export from Illustrator at this size at 72 dpi but Illustrator says:
“Could not Export. Rasterized Image Exceeds Maximum Bounds for Save for Web"
I tried using “Export" and "Save for Web” but I get the same answer.
Can someone using CS 5 open a new document 10,000 x 1920 pixels and try to export it at 72 dpi and tell me if it works? Thanks.
Yep. The screen shot below is an artboard of the size you indicated exported at 150 dpi (hence the larger dims).
Take care, Mike

New Quicktime 7.6.6 (1671) won't export WAV files
HELP! - New Quicktime 7.6.6 (1671) won't export WAV files. I just did the automatic upgrade to the new version of Quicktime and now I can't export WAV files from a CAF file. The original .CAF file plays perfectly but when I attempt to export it the exported file is corrupted and won't play. I have another computer with the previous version of Quicktime and it exports the same file flawlessly. Anyone know what's going on with the new version? THANKS!
+Error writing to the file: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources\nb.lproj\iTunesMiniPlayerLocalized.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.+
More often than not, that sort of message indicates file damage rather than a privileges issue on the file.
If you've got Windows XP, try doing a chkdsk over your C drive, as per:
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
If you've got Vista, try the following procedure. Go "Start > Computer". Right-click on "Local Disk C:" and select "properties". Click the "Tools" tab. Click the "Check now" button in the "Error correction" section.
Do the disk checks find/repair any damage? If so, does an install go through properly afterwards? -
Aperture is exporting large file size e.g. original image is 18.2MB and the exported version (TFF 16 Bit) is 47.9MB, any ideas please
Raws, even if not compressed, Sould be smaller than a 24-bit Tiff, since they have only one bitplane. My T3i shoots 14 bit 18MP raws and has a raw file size of 24.5 MB*. An uncompressed Tiff should have a size of 18 MP x 3 bytes per pixel or 54 MB.
*There must be some lossless compression going on since 18 MP times 1.75 bytes per pixel is 31.5MB for uncompressed raw. -
Need help exporting large file to bitmap format
I have a large file that I need to export to a bitmap format and I am experiencing unknown "IMer" errors, memory and file size limitations.
The file contains only one artboard of size around 8000 pixels by 6000 pixels. I can successfully export as a png at 72dpi giving me a 100% image of my AI file. However I need to export an image at 200% of the AI file. If I export as a png at 144dpi to achieve this I get the following error(s)
"The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error (IMer)" or "Could not complete this operation. The rasterised image exceeded the maximum bounds for savung to the png format"
I have tried exporting as tiff, bmp and jpeg but all give "not enough memory" or "dimensions out of range" errors.
Does anyone know the limitations with AI for saving large files to bitmap format?
Does anyone have a workaround I could try?You could try printing to Adobe Postscript files.
This will actually save a .ps file and you can scale it to 200% when doing so. You'll need to "print" for every image change.
Then open a Photoshop document at your final size (16000x12000 pixels) and place or drag the .ps files into the Photoshop document.
I just tested this and it seems to work fine here. But, of course, I don't have your art, so complexity of objects might factor in and I'm not seeing that here.
And you are aware that Photoshop won't allow you to save a png at those dimension either, right? The image is too large for PNG. Perhaps you could explain why you specifically need a png that large??? -
Hello,

PROBLEM
Just last night, I went to load Illustrator CS4 and it loaded just fine. I went to open up an Illustrator file that I have been working on and it came up with the error "An unknown error has occured." The error popped up twice and I pressed my only option, OK. The file didn't open. Usually I can open the .AI files or at least import them into Photoshop and now Photoshop just freezes and closes itself when I attempt to import an Illustrator file. Now, I tried to open a new document in Illustrator. Before I could type in my specs for the project, Illustrator came up with an error "Illustrator cannot create document. Command cancelled." Out of curiosity, I went to see if the rest of my Adobe products were working. They were all fine, aside from the Illustrator-realted Photoshop issue.
I decided to re-install Illustrator. I uninstalled it just fine and then installation went successfully. However, now Illustrator will flat out not load, period. It comes up with an error: "Missing Plug-In Required. PDFFormat.aip missing." I have conducted many searches since then to find out what the issue is and I have come up with nothing. My thinking is that my version of Vista is not compatible, but that wouldn't explain why it ran flawlessly for three months before now.
As a result, all of my Illustrator files are corrupt. My older version of Illustrator won't even open these files! Nothing, not even Acrobat will read these files now. Unknown errors all over the place. I am sickened by the thought of the loss of all of my work. I need these files!! I need this program as well! What is even stranger for me to understand is that the night before it worked fine and I used Illustrator without adding or changing a thing. I worked for a little bit, then shut the lid of my laptop and went to bed. That's it!
I can provide more details if necessary.
Thank you for reading-- and for helping! I would greatly appreciate any advice I can get. I need to get back to work, pronto!!
Thanks again!

Message was edited by: amyzhongIt is an unknown error and I do not think if they were working in the past that they are all of a sudden corrupt. It sounds to me like you will have to repair your permissions. Now I can tell you from experience that it sounds like Illustrator cannot access the various directories it has to and that seems to me like a permissions problem.
You will need some one familiar with Windows and Vista to tell you how to go about his but the problem here is that all the Windows users seem opposed to even considering this possibility and instead of even trying this approach they have even gone to the extreme of having the user reinstal their system.
So what I am writing is a suggestion and beyond that I wish you well.
But before I go it can also be a font cache problem and there are tools to clear those files as well this approach at least has had some acceptance.
Good Luck. -
Export large files and maintaining high dpi
My export default is set to 300 dpi, but it continually exports at 250 dpi -- how can I fix this? I have very large files, but sometimes when I upload to Photoshop they show at 72 dpi. Something is off.
Where do you set the export default? There is no Export default, afaik. You can define export presets, to pick from. Which export prset will be applied, depends on how you export.
If you export using the Media Browser - drag from the Aperture window, the Preview will be exported.
If you export an Image Version (File -> Export -> Version), the selected Export preset (in the File chooser) will be used.
If you export a Master (File -> Export -> Master),no export peresets apply, the original master image file will be exported.
If you export to an external Editor, the settings in the Preferences -> Export apply.
So how do you export and "upload to Photoshop to get so surprising results?

Exporting Large Files for Web Use
Most of my images are around 3000x2000 in filesize and between 10MB and 15MB. They are for use on the web so I don't want them to be too large (in MB's.)
What is the best option:
- keep original size and lower the quality-setting from 100% to -let's say- between 75% and 90%
- Resize them -let's say- to half size.
The large files have more pixels but are lower quality, or the resized files are higher quality but have less pixels - what is the best? You don't need to but it is advisable as scaling always makes images soft.
You have to scale to display an image on a monitor as a monitor is a very
low resolution device. Luckily you can do the sharpening straight in the
export dialog and you don't really need to think about it. Sharpen for
screen at standard setting is usually just fine. So try using the following
settings in the export dialog:
File settings: jpeg, quality 75, Color Space sRGB
Image Sizing: resize to fit long edge, 800 pixels
Output sharpening: Sharpen for screen, amount Standard
Metadata: Minimize embedded metadata (preserves your copyright info
but omits all the edit and
camera info)
Then play
around with the sharpening amount and compare the exports to see what
you prefer. There is very little difference between High and Standard. -
I am trying to export a 55 min. sequence in Pro Res 422 to a QT self contained file in the same format and I keep
getting the "error-out of memory" pop up.
I tried to render out the sequence first, but I get the same message.
This is strange as I have done this operation before without problems on a different project.
Not sure what to try next. Any suggestions would be appreciated as always.
thanks
MPThanks for the responses. I do have a good number of stills, but they are in RGB. And 55 min. of ProRes IS a large file, but it all is going into an empty 1TB external drive, so there is plenty of space there.
Now, this is a 55 min. doc that is subtitled. So, I'm thinking that the subtitling may make it render heavy.
I suspect that the problem is in the amount of rendering because I get the same message when I try to render the sequence before exporting it out onto a QT file.
So, this is where I go dark because I'm not really a computer techie. How is the rendering achieved? I thought that the system used HD space when it ran out of RAM.
My sequence is made up of 3 different segments from 3 different original sequence files. Would it help if I bring in all 3 sequences as nested files?

Is there a system preference menu somewhere that is blocks exporting large files?
Why won't iphoto 8 allow me to share large files? Are there system preferences set that I can't find?
I am trying to burn a DVD, and don't want to downgrade the image quality. It is set to moderate, and the place of choice is greyed out.
Thanks! As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some of the large photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
To get the original large photos out of your current library Command (right) - click on a thumbnail and select Show Original File from the Contextual menu.
You'll be taken to the original file in the Finder so you can COPY it to the Desktop to use in the test library.

Is there a way to export a large file containing approximately 250,000 rows to excel or a csv file? If not, is there another tool that can be used?
Panyspool filename.csv
There are a number of ways to do this. You can use "set colsep ," but that leaves lost of spaces between columns which most people don't like; or you can concatenate columns to get using "col1||','||col2....".
On the ask tom website if you search around there is a pl sql program which will generate a csv for an arbitraty statement. -
UTL_FILE.get_line won't read large files ?
I am trying to read a large fixed length flat file. If I cut the file down to really small it will read it but it reads it as a single line. If I try to read a larger file > 32k I get a READ_ERROR. I am pretty sure it has to do with the end of line marker but I saw nothing about that in the UTL_FILE documentation. This is on UNIX, new line character after each record in the file. Standard unix flat file.
Any ideas on what to do?
Thanks in advance

nullWe are still hung up on this. I tried implementing the code from STEVE'S XML book but still haven't resovled it.
The clob is being created via XSU see below. The new char[8192] appeasr to force the output file to 8K
with trailing characters on small clobs but adds a carraige return each 8K on larger ones.
As usual any input is appreciated from all. Doese anyone know of a good JAVA forum like this one?
Thanks

Compressor won't compress large files from QT X Screen cap
all of my large screen capture files give a "Quicktime error: -36" when I try to transcode them in Compressor. Small ones work fine. Trimming one large file into two smaller ones makes no difference; the second of the two still fails. Ideas please..?
Need more info:
What compression settings are you using?
File size of original file?
Hard drive space remaining?
How much ram?
How many cores?
etc
Pretty much every little detail. -
LR 2.5 won't export TIFF files with LZW or ZIP compression??
I've just updated to LR2.5 and CR5.5, I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 on an AMD x2 64 bit pc.
LR worked fine until 2.4 came along and hijacked all my auto play settings. Adobe finally releases 2.5 and now I find if I export TIFF files from a Nikon D700 NEF all I get is a black box the same size as the image??? If I turn LZW or ZIP compression off and export uncompressed the export works again. JPEG also exports ok.
Anyone else getting this? Have you found out what's causing it?
James.Thanks for the feedback Jao,
I just tried across the whole range of TIFF options and the only files that don't give me a black file are 8bit and 16 bit with no compression. LZW and ZIP both stuff up
Might try a complete uninstall and reinstall to see if that fixes things. These sorts of things only happen when you are in a rush to get lots of work done!

Exchange account won't send large file, switches servers
When I try to send a large file through my company's Exchange account, it fails - a window pops up and says
"Cannot send message using the server XXX (Exchange)
The Exchange connection to server XXXXXX failed."
then it gives me other servers to try, including the exchange one.
Mail.app also seems to be trying to switch the outgoing mail from my Exchange account to my personal (Gmail) account - the Outbox entry is for "On My Mac", not for my "Work" account.
Mind you, I received this file from my someone else at my company, so they could send it fine - it's not an Exchange size limit issue. Other smaller mail I send on the Exchange account works fine.
Any suggestions?Try this:
1. Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.
2. In Network, select Built-In Ethernet, select Advanced and then on the Ethernet tab, configure the following settings
Configure: Manually
MTU: Custom, 1492
3. Then try to send an email message that contains an attachment. -
My Illustrator CC is exporting my files over 4x larger than I set them to export as.
I really need this ixed. I'd rather not uninstall and redownload. It takes ages. basically, I'll set my artboard to export as sayyy 100x100 pixels, it'll export as 417x417 pixels.
you're exporting at 300 dpi. export 72 dpi.
if you make a 100x100 px image in illustrator, you're actually making an image that is 100x100 points. points are a unit with a specific size. if you export a raster image 300 dpi, illustrator is making your image 4.17x larger (300/72) as it's cramming pixels into an already-defined area.

Backing up without destroying file/folder structure?
Hello all, no doubt someone here has already figured this out but I cannot for the life of me see how you back up your files with iMovie 09... it used to be all kept in a single unified XML doc/folder, now... I'm just confused. Can anyone let me know
