Illustrator won't reinstall.

     I recently downloaded and installed illustrator through Adobe's cloud service, Adobe Apllication Manager. Everything was working fine. I managed to use it for quite a while. Then about a day later my computer crash while doing something completly unrelated. It is not uncommon for the computer to crash. When it turned back on it asked if i would like to restore the computer from a previous version and i said yes. When  I finished running the repair sequence, I noticed something was wrong. Adobe Illustrator CS6 had been uninstalled by the repair sequence. At first I thought it would be no big deawl and that I could reinstall it.
     This is where the problem/question starts. I went to Adobe.com and tried downloading the program how i did the first time. It started up Adobe Application Manager and seemed like I would be making vectors again in about 2 hours. I was wrong.  Adobe Application Manager showed Illustrator CS6 as being installed. So now It wont redownload the installer. The program doesnt recognise that Illustrator is not on the machine. It is convinced that i have the program installed. I have looked for the uninstaller on my computer in multiple ways, but i cant find it. Ive tried deleting all illustrator related things. None of my attepts to solve the problem have worked. So now im stuck. I have no idea what to do next. I would be very greatful if someone knew how to fix my problem.

I am having the same problem only mine is I had installed the Web Design Creative Suite CS5.5 about a year ago. Then I uninstalled it and got the Creative Cloud (which I love except for the problems with Illustrator). I installed everything just fine the first time I got it and Illustrator was acting up once in a while and I couldn't run the 64bit verson but I could run the regular verson but there were kinks in it once in a while. Then when the updates came in I installed the updates and I tried to open Illustrator (both versons) and got this message    0x000007b     Then after about 5 attemps at uninstalling it and reinstalling it with the same affect. This last uninstall shows that there is Illustrator on my computer under the Applications Manager but under everything I cannot find it anywhere on my hard drive (no where at all). I have tried to reload the Applications Manager but it gives me the same message that it is still installed. I even tried to do a recovery and my computer crashed and won't do a recovery it gives me an error saying it was unsuccessful. I have the feeling that the previous verson is interuppting the newer verson (and has all along) only hasn't shown itself since the new installation. I have to have Illustrator since I am taking the second course for it this next semester... I have a week to fix it. If anyone could get back to me that would be great but I have the feeling I will have to have the help of an Adobe Tec. Thanks

  • Out of memory message in Illustrator. Now Illustrator won't launch. Can I reinstall?

    I was working on a very detailed illustration in Illustrator and got an out of memory message. I ended up forcing Illustrator to quit. Now Illustrator won't launch.  In the Adobe Creative Cloud, can I uninstall Illustrator and reinstall without having to pay extra?

    Kathy,
    I believe you should reinstall using the full three step way:
    Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

  • Illustrator won't load .AI files...  Corrupt??  PDFFormat.aip required!

    Hello,

    PROBLEM
    Just last night, I went to load Illustrator CS4 and it loaded just fine.  I went to open up an Illustrator file that I have been working on and it came up with the error "An unknown error has occured."  The error popped up twice and I pressed my only option, OK.  The file didn't open.  Usually I can open the .AI files or at least import them into Photoshop and now Photoshop just freezes and closes itself when I attempt to import an Illustrator file.  Now, I tried to open a new document in Illustrator.  Before I could type in my specs for the project, Illustrator came up with an error "Illustrator cannot create document.  Command cancelled."  Out of curiosity, I went to see if the rest of my Adobe products were working.  They were all fine, aside from the Illustrator-realted Photoshop issue.
    I decided to re-install Illustrator.  I uninstalled it just fine and then installation went successfully.  However, now Illustrator will flat out not load, period.  It comes up with an error: "Missing Plug-In Required.  PDFFormat.aip missing."  I have conducted many searches since then to find out what the issue is and I have come up with nothing.  My thinking is that my version of Vista is not compatible, but that wouldn't explain why it ran flawlessly for three months before now.
    As a result, all of my Illustrator files are corrupt.  My older version of Illustrator won't even open these files!  Nothing, not even Acrobat will read these files now.  Unknown errors all over the place.  I am sickened by the thought of the loss of all of my work.  I need these files!!  I need this program as well!  What is even stranger for me to understand is that the night before it worked fine and I used Illustrator without adding or changing a thing.  I worked for a little bit, then shut the lid of my laptop and went to bed.  That's it!
    I can provide more details if necessary.
    Thank you for reading-- and for helping!  I would greatly appreciate any advice I can get.  I need to get back to work, pronto!!
    Thanks again!

    It is an unknown error and I do not think if they were working in the past that they are all of a sudden corrupt. It sounds to me like you will have to repair your permissions. Now I can tell you from experience that it sounds like Illustrator cannot access the various directories it has to and that seems to me like a permissions problem.
    You will need some one familiar with Windows and Vista to tell you how to go about his but the problem here is that all the Windows users seem opposed to even considering this possibility and instead of even trying this approach they have even gone to the extreme of having the user reinstal their system.
    So what I am writing is a suggestion and beyond that I wish you well.
    But before I go it can also be a font cache problem and there are tools to clear those files as well this approach at least has had some acceptance.
    Good Luck.

  • My illustrator won't open after I install

    my illustrator won't open after I install

    menya,
    I believe you may as well go straight to 6) on the list.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Can't open Photoshop CC-says need to reinstall but won't reinstall

    I activated the free trial and used Photoshop- it was perfect. Now 2 days later, when I try to open the application, an error message comes saying that some application components are missing from the application directory and to please reinstall the application. But, when I go to the Create Cloud Installer and click on Photoshop, it says "up to date" in the column and won't reinstall or do anything really.... I tried putting the existing app in the trash, but that's not helping....

  • Iphoto continually quit on MBP and Air, now won't reinstall on Air

    I have a MBP and Air with ilife 08 and all the latest apple software updates on each.
    For about three weeks iphoto has been shutting down on either computer whenever i email a photo, or download and save a photo from the internet.
    Today i removed iphoto from both computers and reinstalled.
    After reinstalling my MBP it seemed to work fine, only shutting down once in about 15 emailed photos (as compared to every time previosuly). Thinking all was well (or at least acceptible) I went ahead and installed the three updates from apple via the software updater in system preferences. After i installed the automatic updates and used iphoto again, it shut down every time i emailed a photo. At that point I uninstalled the iphoto and reinstalled it without the latest apple updates. It seems to work fine now.
    So, I tried doing the same thing on my air, but now iphoto won't reinstall, even though each time at the end of the process it tells me the install was successful. The first two times I only uninstalled (dragged to trash) iphoto, but the next two times i also dumped garageband, iweb, and idvd. Each time these programs were reinstalled, but not iphoto. When I search on iphoto no results.
    Any ideas on how to get iphoto back on my air? I am using remote disk and have never had any previous problems with it, and obviously the other programs reinstalled fine.
    Thoughts on why iphoto won't work with the latest apple updates installed?

    fishbio:
    Before reinstalling iPhoto make sure you've deleted all files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder. Otherwise the installer will think that iPhoto already exists and doesn't need to install.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Mobile device support won't reinstall?

    my parents bought me a new computer as an early Christmas present (it's Windows 8.1), but iTunes 12 wasn't loading properly when I installed it - so I uninstalled all of the components using the Apple-recommended method and reinstalled iTunes... except for some reason mobile device support didn't come along.and now it won't reinstall. every time i try to install it, it shows me this:
    i'm not sure why - yes, i did uninstall all the components in the order Apple told me to. i've done it eight times now, probably. followed every suggestion google gave me, even. there's not exactly many / any helpful ones for iTunes 12 when it comes to mobile device support issues right now.
    :/ i've got an iPad Air, an iPhone 4, and an iPod Touch 5, so it's really frustrating to have all of these devices and no way to get my music onto them! it's not so much a problem for the iPod/Phone, since i've had them since before my old computer crashed... but the iPad is brand new, and not all of my music is iTunes purchased! so i can't get that stuff on here. or ringtones. or any of my apps that don't show up in the store otherwise.
    basically if ANYONE has any idea what to do with this, or needs any more information so they can help.... just please do. this is really frustrating.

    Not sure what broke the link. Let's try again. Re: I keep getting the error message "iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please uninstall both Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes, then install iTunes again." Please help
    Still not quite right. It supposed to take you to my post in the thread that reads thus:
    You could try logging the install of AMDS to see if you can work out what the problem is. Try the following command. It has both the .msi file and the output log located at the root of the C: drive but you can edit the paths to taste. The second option switch is slash el star vee and generates a verbose output log.
    msiexec /i "C:\AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi" /l*v "C:\Log_AMDS64.txt"
    And in a hint from another thread try deleting the following files before attempting a reinstall of AMDS.
    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\usbaapl64.sys
    C:\Windows\System32\usbaaplrc.dll
    I've also assumed 64-bit iTunes/Windows so you may need to adjust if it is a 32-bit system.
    And perhaps the subsequent posts in the thread may help, which is why I wanted to link you there rather than just copy the text here.
    Perhaps I've assumed that the MS Fixit can be applied to an .msi installer as well as an ,exe. I haven't had to use it in anger myself. If it won't pick up on the .msi then will it work if used with the main iTunes installer .exe?

  • I downloaded an app called 'Cinema but instead of promised movies got trailers. Then I deleted it etc A dvised on help page and now it won't reinstall any ideas? Have contacted itunes x 2 but no response and unable to contact app developers.

    I bought an app from itunes called 'Cinema' It promised loads of movies but all I got was trailers. No way to contact the developers of the app. So I followed the 'Support' advice and deleted etc and now it won't reinstall. there is no install button next to it!. It was only £6.99 so not a fortune but I'm wary of trying any others now. Where did I go wrong and how do I put it right?

    Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

  • Updated CS6 and OS X to 10.10 Yosemite and Illustrator won't open

    I just did an adobe update for CS6 and OS X and now my illustrator won't open. It doesn't launch. It was working yesterday before the Adobe update.
    I get the message that has "Error Code: 0x00000014" in the coding, along with a bunch of other technical stuff I will never be able to wrap my head around. Anyone else have this problem or a solution to fixing it? Please help.

    Apple have provided an update to the Java Runtime that Illustrator uses. I couldn't open Illustrator when I upgraded to Yosemite, but I found this, and it's worked fine.

  • Fresh Install, Now Illustrator won't open any DWG/DXF files???

    Hey whats up guys, been having alot of issued with Illustrator (CS2) lately so I did a fresh reinstall.
    Everything seemed to be in working order until I tried to open a 2000 DXF file and got the "Unknown format and cannot be opened" dialog.
    I was sure that the CAD must be a 2004 or something so I expoted again and got the same issue. Then I looked a bit further and noticed that the File > Open menu doesn't even have an option for DXF/DWG.
    What could've caused this feature to get stripped out of a new install? Is there any way to fix this?
    Ryan

    What's up guys, quick update on the situation.
    After some more tinkering around I discovered that Illustrator couldn't even print any documents, as well as discovering some additional errors with the updates and Adobe Bridge.
    So somewhere along the line my "Adobe Suite" got all screwed up, I was even starting to get random error messages in Photoshop.
    In the end my solution was to uninstall Illustrator & Photoshop, then reinstall them both (PS first.)
    That seemed to reinstall a few Shared componenets (like Bridge) which got everything up and running again...glad it worked, but go figure.

  • Illustrator won't open on Windows 8.1

    I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and Illustrator won't open. Previously on Windows 8, Illustrator would only open when I was signed in as a guest. Now it keeps crashing for any user. This is issues has been going on for quite some time. Is this an Adobe issue or a Microsoft issue. Very frustrating. I'd like to get some work done.

    All current versions, CS, CS (64 bit) and 2014.

  • Adobe Flash Player has Disappeared from my FF Add-ons & won't reinstall

    Adobe Flash Player has Disappeared from my FF (version 4.0.1) Add-ons & won't reinstall. The Adobe Test page says that I've successfully installed the latest version (10.3.181.34) of Flash Player but after trying this 4 times, Flash just refuses to show up in my add-ons/plug-ins and now some websites are not working correctly. (Using a Win7 Home, 64-bit, SP 1 desktop.)

    Because the are different products and load/use/display different types of files. You either have both installed because you have used websites that need one or the other, or you don't. Don't worry about why they are named the way they are named, that is Adobe's decision. Just accept the facts and go on with your life.

    Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
