Illustrator wont open, stops at loading fonts
I have Illustrator CS6, Mac 0Sx 10.8.5. About 2 months ago it wouldn't open and keeps stalling when loading fonts. I have uninstalled and re-installed twice without any change. I have tried taking out fonts that it gets stalled on but then it stalls on the next font. I also use Photoshop and I'm not having an issue opening.
HELP!!!! This as been over 2 months without being able to use this program.

In the following list, note the Cleaner Tool in 6). The most likely/relevant items in 5) may be 1 and 11.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

I have uninstalled and re-installed the program twice and also tried deleting the font that it stalled at but then it would just stall when trying to load the next font. I did notice that it seemed to be stalling on fonts that AREN'T OTF format. I also wasn't sure to delete the fonts out of the SYSTEM, LIBRARY, FONTS folder or the other fonts folder location in LIBRARY. I really need to get this program working, please help!!!!!

Iphoto wont open - library not loaded
I recently had an issue where both Aperture and iphoto couldn't load, the message said "iphoto cannot be opened because of a problem" and then I got the error message below. It didn't even load the app, but bounce it once and then post the error message
Had a poke around, but cant for the life of me figure out why it cant see the Library. I have repaired permissions and tried others, but still not working.
Am i missing something really simple?

That piece of support framework needed for iPhoto can't be found or is broken.
Try re-install iPhoto
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.
If that doesn't help you need to reinstall the OS

My illustrator shut down unexpectedly. Now when I try and open it, it says "blah blah blah illustrator quit unexpectedly. would you like to reopen blah blah blah" and then I click 'reopen' and get a spinning wheel forever, and 'application not responding' when I try and quit.
I've already uninstalled it and reinstalled, still having the same problem. Has anyone had this before?offf,

Idvd wont open stuck at loading themes.

can anyone help me with this, I did look at the discussion thread. If I need to re-install using my original discs, I see a program or applications bundle
I don't want to re-install all programs. I have not used used this program very much but it did use to work not sure what happend.

Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.
• Delete iDVD pref. file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref. file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named.
com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Disconnect all external hard disks and try - FireWire, USB/2, AirPort or Net-work connected.
To work OK I prefer FireWire AND it must be Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - WILL NOT DO for video - neither for iMovie or FinalCut or iDVD any version ! This also includes any USB-memory sticks.
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple’s Disk Utilities application)
• Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
• Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK will work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’09 v. 7.0.4, Mac OS X.5.8 AND QuickTime 7.6.4 - is OK (does work under Leopard)
• iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try

I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !

Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets
No of Colors - must be set to millions

Cs4 wont open on mavericks after installing new Java update
Cs4 (photoshop and illustrator) wont open on mavericks after installing new Java update.
I have tried installing both from the auto prompt (which came up as 'software update') as well as directly downloading from this link: Java for OS X 2014-001
either way when i try to open a cs4 program the icon simply bounces around for a minute then it comes up "program not responding"

First of all, you should be able to check in your HD/Library/Receipts folder to see what has been installed by looking for the .pkg of it.

You should not be offered updates that are not intended for your System through Software Update. Software Update, as far as I know, reads the .pkg files in your Receipts folder and will offer what you need from that. (I believe that is correct....perhaps someone will correct me if I'm wrong)
Did you Repair Permissions from Disk Utility before and after the update?
If not I would try running Repair Permissions (HD/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility/Repair Permissions).
I've found that with Security Updates that it is very important to Repair Permissions before and after updating.

Can I close all layers? or even better, stop illustrator from opening all layers when I open a file?
I just installed cs6, and when I open files in Illustrator, it opens all of the layers which contain sublayers. It does this even if all the top-level layers were closed during the previous save. The files I work with have a large layer-structure, so re-closing the top-level layers every time I open a file wastes a lot of my time. Can I close all layers at once, or better yet, can I stop Illustrator from opening all of the layers automatically when I load a file?
If not, then WHY on earth not? I can't be the only one who opens and closes large files with lots of layers and sub-layers...

Edit: I also am noticing this problem is even worse in cs6, because openning and closing individual layers plays a little animation of rotating the triangular arrow before the layer which, cute as it may be, just makes the task of individually closing up all my layers that much more tedious. Can I turn off that little animation of the triangular arrow when opening and closing layers?You can save it as a pdf and when you open that in AI the layers will not be opened even if they have sublayers.
Not true. Does the same nonsense an .AI file does. Saved as a .PDF, closed Layers/subgroups get opened.
And no one cares!
I do. Every other Adobe program with a layering sceme seems to be able to remember that you saved a file with all layers and subs closed. But not this one.
Maybe someone from the AI development team should ask someone from the Photoshop team how they've managed it.....for decades. -

I had itune 10.1 working just normal, and suddenly it wont open.
even before that, 1st problem i had was with Quick time, i couldnt uninstall it, kept saying newer version of Quick time installed..or something like that. and i figured out to install itunes without unstalling quick time. Reset your iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
If you continue to have issues, try downloading the apps to iTunes on your computer, then sync your iPhone using iTunes. -
