Illy CS3 SHIFTED-PATTERN RESET

I have a series of precisely created and placed custom swatches (patterns). The same pattern is used repeatedly, some tilde-shifted, others not. When I reopen the file, all the swatches reset to the origin, including the tilde-shifted swatches. The only solution I have found is expanding the pattern and de-selecting its clipping path in order to reset its position. This is cumbersome procedure because there are many objects to adjust each open. I could keep my file patterns expanded and work from that point, but it would seem that the software should be able to hold swatch positioning more precisely (my "transform pattern tiles" box is checked off in my preferences. thanks.

Shift patterns for work centers

Hi,
I have question regarding shift patterns for work centers. We are actually utilizing the work centres in a aftermarket setup (service jobs). What we would like to do is to add shift patters to the work centers which look similar to this:
Mo-Su 07:00-19:00, Mo-Su 19:00-07:00 4days on/4 days off/4 days on/4days off. As you see we would like it to be a rolling schedule so the first 4 working days the day shift, then 4 days off, then the next working days the night shift and so on.
Is there a way of simplyfying this setup? The length of the cycle can only be set to a maximum of 7 days meaning I can not create a rolling schedule in a simple way. I do know that I can manually add intervals with say a seven day cycle and defining the working hours and additional create shift for holding predefined working hours and breaks.
I have looked at shift sequences but that doesn't seem to be helpful in this scenario? The sequence seems only to be used as a sequence on a daily basis.
If anyone has solution for this or if you have any thought on how to process I would be very thankful if you shared these.

Enter Report Type and Usage as workcentre, please do the this customazation then you find workcentres in F4.

TM implementation without standard shift pattern

Can you please let me know, how can we configure the Time Management, if the client is not having standard shift pattern. This is a shipyard. Here the employees are not having standard shift pattern.

This is actually a ship yard, here employees are working in shifts, however specific shift pattern is not defined to anybody, because it all depends on the work assignment by the managers. In this case how can we configure the work shcdule. If i use the flexi time in the work schedule, how can i calculate the OT correctly, because there are different OT ratings based on working at day or night and after working for specific OT hours there is a different rating.
The concept that you have sent me, i did not understand.
Could you please give me more idea on this.

JS[CS3] Create Pattern/Swatch

I am new to JS
in AI. I know pretty well JS in ID but the object is totally different.
So I am creating a layer, naming it, Creating a box, Importing an EPS as a groupItem.
NOW the tricky part. The imported EPS is my Stamp so I need to create a pattern from it.
Then apply that pattern to my box. That is where I loose myself. I don't comprehend the relationship between stwatch, pattern & Patterncolor. But I did understand that a swatch COLOR can be of type PatternColor and there you can access its properties like angle, scale, etc... But a PatternColor is a Pattern itself?!? I also understand I can access my pattern using the swatches because a pattern is actually a swatch color.
Any pointer on how to create a pattern from my groupItem? Pattern.add method has no argument, right?

Yes that is what I get as well. There as to be a way to assign, just like the GUI does.
Compared to InDesign, AI scripting sucks. It is really poorly implemented. Even the help is sketchy at best.
I'll keep trucking along and post my findings.

Illy CS3 Automating a Script

This probably sounds redundant
over and over again , automating a script, but is there a way of assign
ing a keyboard shortcut
or run the
script in an action? I use mucho a script written and generously shared by JET to joinnearest points. It's a pain to have to click on file and then scripts and then select the script each time. I would like to eliminate 2 clicks (or mashes as they say in the southern states). Is there a way to do this within the script (adding a lline)?
Guidance will be appreciated.

Correct. I have been complaining about this bug for four versions now.
It has become my practice to do this:
I keep an Action defined in my Actions palette named JET_CurrentScript. When it becomes clear to me that I will be repeatedly using a script in a work session, I go ahead and use InsertMenuItem to insert the step in that Action.
This is not a fix or even a workaround. It just lessens the tedium in certain circumstances. It becomes just as tedious, of course, if you have to do that for multiple frequently-needed scripts with every launch (you know--like having to reset your palette settings in Swatches, Doc Info, etc.)
Illustrator's script access interface--like too much in Illustrator--is half-baked. Sloppy. Rushed-to-market. Compare to InDesign's Scripts palette.
Now that ScriptUI provides for creation of floating dialogs (and supposedly modeless palettes--something else that's quite problematic with Illustrator's scripting implementation), one can combine several scripts into one dialog to handle multiple user inputs. I may get around to doing that with closely-related groups of my scripts, but am currently just getting acquainted with the rather tedious ScriptUI model.
There are ways to make a script run when the program is launched. So it may be conceivable to devise a startup script that would launch a script containing such a multi-purpose palette. But I haven't monkeyed around with that yet, because it would be dependent upon the afore-mentioned modeless dialog working correctly--you wouldn't want a modal dialog to appear whenever you launch the program.
I'm certainly no advanced Javascripter; I'm a self-motivated, self-trained "student" and "experimenter" when the mood strikes.
I'm gratified, by the way, that some of you seem to fiind my Join scripts handy. I consider the functionality indespensible in my own work, which is why I hacked them out. But it is absolutely absurd that one has to resort to custom scripting to do something that should so obvously be a standard function in the program.

My interface has disappeared after resetting preferences

CS5 Illustrator
Held down cmmd, shift, alt to delete preferences, after opening up a previous document all my tools are gone (unable to pull them out from the dropout menu), as well as options for effects, and well.....everything. How can I get it all back?

Cmd+Option+Shift should reset the preferences to the defaults rather than remove them, of course.
Ultimately, you may have to uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall, see 6) below, but you may try other things, such as 4) on the list below.
Less likely, everyone has escaped to the sides, in which case you may increase the screen resolution to see them and round them up in the middle and then decrease the resolution again.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Problem with reset in cs5

with ctrl alt shift to reset, i noticed this created problem with normal setup.
things i noticed are that you can't open new file, it returns error message and you have to go to prefence and off open gl drawing to fix them.
and other thing if the mask black/white erasing doesn't work so well.
seems the hardness for brushes whether its 100 or 25, looks the same, i don't remember seeing this before in cs5, should reflect strenght between stronger /weaker erasing.

That just means that your video card driver has some bugs, and needs to be updated.
The error messages tell you that there is a problem with your video card driver.

Illustrator CS3 wont open

Hi folks,
Ive recently started having problems trying to open Illy CS3...Im getting the window saying 'The application Illustrator has unexpectedly quit' when I try and open it.
From reading these forums I have done various things that people have said to do, ie:
1) Send the crash report
2) Check font book for any corrupt fonts
3) Deleted fonts I never use.... now I have 288 fonts, is that still too many?
4) Ive created a new user but still no luck
5) Ive restarted the machine a few times
6) Ive went to user/library/preferences and deleted the illustrator cs3 folder
and none of these have worked.
Im using a 24" Imac...2.93 GHz...Intel core 2 duo...4GB memory...and ive still loads of space on disc.
Any help is great.

I have to ask you a couple of things first,
Did you quit Illustrator before you trash the Illustrator Settings folder?
Did at the same time trash the com.adobe.illustrator.plist file also in your user's preferences? You can try trashing both but you must first quite Illustrator.
Did you try to disable all your fonts except for the systems fonts?
When you created a new user did you load your fonts under that new users? I think you loaded your fonts, you should not have if you did!
Did you delete the font data base files the AdobeFnt.lst files?
I do not think you did that at all.
I think you have a corrupt font or your scratch disk is pretty full.

Work schedule pattern freeze

HI All
We have a requirement in time mng, Shift patterns. when ever there is no production in plant, it goes on shutdown for a week generally.
In those cases, employees working patterns should also freeze.
I mean if we have a shift - Day,Day,Day,Day,Day,OFF, OFF, Night,Night,Night,Night,Night, OFF OFF
then if there is a shutdown for a week, it should freeze and continues after the shutdown.
Is there any standard setup in SAP or any another work around

I am not sure I conveyed my message correctly. I need a split in the Work schedule pattern.
For example Week 1 is DAY Shift, Week 2 is Night Shift, Week 3 is Day shift again, Week 4 is Night again
If we shutdown in week 2 ,as per SAP standard employee should come back in Day shift in week 3
But we want the pattern to freeze. Means week 1 Days shift, Week 2 Shutdown, Week 3 Night shift, Week 4 is Days ...
If we substitution, I am not sure we can alter the pattern permanently..
Is there any way I can do this in SAP please

I am facing an issue regarding the shift in workcenter.
I have done all the prerequisite settings in spro like
1. defing a grouping key,
2 defining work break schedule key,
3.definining shift definition,
4.defining shift sequence
now is there something called shift pattern key which does the shift changing on the desired basis like monthly or daily or weekly.
i have created one for my requirement.but whenever I am aasigning my grouping key to the workcenter only one shift reflect in the system.
So can you please help me.

This seems to be a different question all together,you have to create new thread for each question to get proper/prompt reply
First of all before cerating an inspection plan,you have to first decide what type of inspection you want to do
You can find the std inspection types in the QM view of the material master under Insp.setup
Then maintain the respective inspection type
like Inspection after GR from production
After that create inspection plan for the material in QP01 tcode
Before that you should have inspection characteristics created(MIC's)
It is created in QS21 tcode,here you will have to mention whether its qualitative or quantitative & input data accordingly
In QP01 you have to maintain the usage accordingly like 5,6 etc
Rest is like normal routing
In case of inproces inspection you dont need to create a seperate inspection plan,you can maintain the same in the production routing with MIC's

Making a counter with enable and reset

Hi.
First of all, I looked online for this solultion and no success.
What I am trying to do is have a counter with enable and reset.
1. Increment from 0 to 5 everytime true boolean is received. Q, the output should then be 1
2. If boolean false is received, Q should be 0
3. Once the count reaches 5, reset the counter to 0 and repeat.
4. Step 1-3 only happens when enable is true. Anytime enable is false, the process is stopped.

This is something called an Action Engine, closely related to "Functional Global Variables" (FGV) or "VI Globals" (VIG). Basically, you have a While Loop with one or more Shift Registers acting as "memory" and an "Action" input (typically a Boolean or an Enum) that says what the Action should be.
As you posed your problem, I'm unsure if you require one Boolean (Enable/Disable) or two (Enable/Disable and "Count"). This is a situation where having an Enum input and more "Actions" might be appropriate. For example:
Load Save the Max Count (5 in your example) in a Shift Register
Reset Set the internal Count to 0
Enable Allow Count Action to proceed
Disable Don't allow Count Action to proceed
Count Increment counter if "enabled", and output current count
Each time you call this VI (did I say that this should be written as a sub-VI, with inputs Action and Max Count, and output Current Count?), depending on the Action you wire in, you will either perform "setup" actions (Load, Reset, Enable, Disable) or "Counting" actions (Count). Note that it is easy to modify it so that if the Counter is disabled (ooh, that's a good name for this sub-VI, "Counter", has a mnemonic ring to it), the output is, say, -1, "Not a Count", instead of (as I described it above) the last Count while Enabled.
Action Engines (and similar constructs, where there's a While loop with "True" wired to the Stop terminal, useful as a "memory" unit) are pretty common in LabVIEW. More accomplished LabVIEW users might also accomplish this with a Feedback loop, but I find that the "Do Once" loop shown above is easier for me to recognize and understand.

CS3 Outline Stroke Parallel Lines Bug

Hello everyone...
I'll try to explain my issue as best as possible. I am using Illy CS3 on Win XP Pro.
I am creating installation instructions for an electronic product and need to show wire routing.
I created an art brush of two parallel black lines two different ways (two black lines and two black lines with a white line between them) and am getting the same result when I apply the Object>Path>Outline Stroke command.
What is happening is instead of Outlining each of the strokes and individual paths, Illustrator is outlining the space between the two strokes as one filled, closed path.
Perhaps this is expected behavior. However, Illustrator CS4 (which I use at home on a Mac) outlines the stroke as I would expect it to with the two lines as individual paths.
Does anyone know of a workaround or any way for Illustrator CS3 to behave in a similar way to how CS4 handles the strokes?

I can't follow your description, and can't replicate the problem trying to follow it.

Explain "two black lines and two black lines with a white line between them".
Brush 1 built from:
Two parallel open paths, each with a black stroke?
Brush 2 built from:
Three parallel open paths, equally distributed, the two outermost ones having a black stroke, the middle one having a white stroke?
When you say "situated between them" are you talking about stacking order (paths with different weight strokes stacked in same location) or spacing (three parallel paths distributed vertically)?
You say you've created these two ArtBrushes and are then applying Object>Path>Outline Stroke. Are you in fact talking about outlining the strokes to the artwork
before converting it to an ArtBrush, or applying Outline Stroke to a path to which you already applied the ArtBrush?
Describe EXACTLY, step-by-step, command-by-command, the simplest steps necessary to replicate the problem. Don't use ambiguous terms like "line". Use the terms of the program.

Hi,
You can configure this under work schedule. Create a work scheule as per the shift pattern .
Go to SPRO-Time Management-work schedule-period work schedule- define period work schedule. Here you can define the work schedule pattern ,
IF the pattern is changinng evry 2nd week , create two entries one as week 1 and the other as week 2.
