ILP:: Inline power process coredump for switch

Hi all,
I am investigating POE issues on a 3850 stack, and i notice some things while troubleshooting
Switch Ports Model              SW Version        SW Image              Mode
     1 56    WS-C3850-48P       03.03.03SE        cat3k_caa-universalk9 INSTALL
*    2 56    WS-C3850-48P       03.03.03SE        cat3k_caa-universalk9 INSTALL
I have some debugging active.
ILPOWER:
  ILPOWER event debugging is on
  ILPOWER controller debugging is on
I see in the logs the following message
021030: Nov 14 2014 11:05:01.185 CET: ILP:: Inline power process coredump for switch 2
021034: Nov 14 2014 11:05:06.841 CET: ILP:: Inline power process coredump for switch 1

021093: Nov 14 2014 11:05:41.219 CET: ILP:: Inline power process coredump for switch 2
It seems its a proces as each of the stackmember logs this message every 10seconds.
I have  search-engined this message, but to no avail,
i dont think this is a software crash as i dont have any crashfiles on the system.
What process generates these messages and why, how to troubleshoot this.
thank you in advance.
With kind regards,
Thijn van der Schoot.

Mac or PC ? - I believe that Adobe switched the processing functions for 3D rendering in Photoshop CC to VRam.
To upgrade the Vram on my existing iMacs cost-effectively entails new upgraded iMacs.
So I am now needing to purchase new desktop computers for production purposes and seperately for an education institute - PC's or Macs?
Is this shift to Vram for image rendering affecting any processing functions of the other applications in the suite - the ones I use the most are Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, inDesign, & SoundBooth
I also use Strata 3D, Lightwave, Maya, Cinema 4D, Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro,
I will be using the suite in a Graphic design, Photography, Video editing / sound recording / editing (I am also a musician), animation and 3D context.

This forum is primarily for a few users like me to answer questions about installation, serial numbers and general issues regarding the Creative Suite. We don't have to expertise to answer questions like you're asking. Otherwise, few people visit this forum.
You'd do best to pick the forums of the applications you use the most, especially applications that test the limits of your computer (probably Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop) and ask in those forums.

  • Inline power for Cisco 4506

    Hello all,
I recently added POE series RJ45 blade to one of my 4506's in order to power some new Cisco WAP's.  The modules are functioning nominally with exception to not getting inline power to any devices.  Here's the skinny:

Here’s a kick-out from trying to force the interface inline power:
*Dec  9 07:23:36.519: %ILPOWER-5-ILPOWER_POWER_DENY: Interface Gi3/47: inline power denied. Reason: Insufficient inline power, requested(32258) available(0).
    What am I missing?

Yes.  Makes sense.  You need to upgrade your 1400w Power Supply to something bigger.  Here's the math:
    Total 710 -- -- 590 412
You've got a 4506 chassis and populated six out of seven slots.  With six slot loaded, the line cards pull up to 710w from your Power Supply.   Now if you look at the Data Sheet for the WS-X4648-RJ45V+E line card it states that this particular line card can support up to 48 ports running 15.4w (or 24 ports at 30w PoE).  The product of 30w & 24 ports is 720.  So if you add up 720 and 710 you get a sum of 1430 which is OVER your 1400w Power Supply.  This is the reason why the line card is complaining.
It doesn't matter if you've got a WS-X4648-RJ45V+E line card and you're going to, for example, plug 10 APs.  When the line card is loaded into the chassis, the line card will immediately "chop" or "slice" 720w off the power supply.  This is how it works.

  • Is there a bug related to inline power of 3550?

    Hi:
We are using the inline-power function of some WS-C3550-24PWR-EMI to power on some aironet 1230 APs. There are less than 5 APs on one 3550 usually.
For unknown reason, those 3550s keep shutting down those FE interfaces connected by APs. We can do 'no shut' under the interface to re-enable the AP, however those interfaces will be shut down again after several days. We only see this problem on 3550 so far. Can anybody fell free to tell me what the reason is and how to fix it?
    Sincerely,
    cafershop1

    Hi:
We are only using b/g. I checked the power level on a 3550 withou this problem, most of APs are using 4.4v.
Those switchs are running for a long time, I think around 2 or 3 years.
On the software side, we just enable inline power by the command of 'power inline auto' on the 3550. The IOS version for APs are 12.3(8)JA2 and switch are 12.1(22)EA8.
On the hardware side, all APs are plug into network jack on the wall and then connect to switches. The distances between APs to switches usually are less than 100 feet.
    Sincerely,
    cafershop1

  • Preparation For Switch Failure?

I've been tasked by my IT director with developing a plan for when a switch fails at our two locations. Redundancy and HA aren't part of this plan. Instead, I've been asked to focus on replacing a failed switch with an identical appliance. We have three 3560G 48 port swtiches in one locaiton and seven 3750Gs at our other location. We've purchased one of each as a backup. I understand the method of configuring the replacement switches in the event of a failure, but what I'm stuck on is developing a plan that presents the quickest most efficient and clean process. We do have room in our rack at the location utilizing 3560G switches, but no room in the rack where the 3750s are housed.
How have you planned for switch failure? What are the best practices?

Ok, let me give you a "funky" method which incorporates two processes:  Zero-Touch SmartInstall and EEM.
Let's start with the easy part:  EEM
For this process to work, you need to have a non-MS TFTP server.  Linux/Unix is preferred because of the way the files are written.  This EEM script is invoked when someone saves the config of your appliance.  When this happens the appliance will automatically send a copy of the configuration to the remote TFTP server of your choice.  The filename will be named is this syntax:  Switch_name-Month-Day-Hour-Minues-Second-Timezone-version
Another thing, if no one has saved the config for a week, then the switch will still copy the startup-config to the TFTP server of your choice.
    Ok, here's the script:
    archive log config
       logging enable   hidekeys path tftp:///$h- write-memory time-period 10080
Ok, now this solves the problem of an "updated config".  Next, the replacement.
There's a process called Zero-Touch SmartInstall.  What this does:
    1.  You have a new switch, fresh from the box, no configuration whatsoever;
    2.  You connect the new switch to the Director (explained later) via the ethernet port;
    3.  You power up the new switch and YOU DO NOTHING;
    4.  The new switch will talk to the Director.  The Director will provide the new switch with an IP Address (via VLAN 1).  The Director determines that the new switch does not have a config and running an IOS with is not "standard".  The Director will push the config to the new switch's startup-config (the running-config still empty) and then the IOS will get pushed to the new switch;
    5.  The new switch will reboot with the correct IOS specified and a full-working configuration.
Ok.  So let's run the scenario.  You have a failed switch at either one of the sites.
Using the above EEM, you have a full-blown working config.  The latest one to boot!
The site with a dead switch has a switch capable of being a Director and a TFTP server.  So you copy the working config from your TFTP server to the Director.  Configure the Director switch.  Cisco sends the replacement unit to the site (instead of your location).  You instruct the person on-site to connect the new switch to the Director and power up the switch.  New switch gets the working config and an IOS upgrade/downgrade.
All in all, your new replacment switch is ready in 30 minutes.  Tops.

  • Poe881 Router and Cisco Inline Power (pre-standard PoE)

I have a number of 881 Routers and 79x0 IP Phones. These phones use "Cisco Inline Power", aka "pre-standard PoE". In other words, they are not compatible with standard 802.3af PoE.
It would be possible for me to install a daughtercard and DC adapter in the 881 routers and provide PoE to two of the ethernet ports. My question is whether the 881 (when equipped for PoE) will support Cisco Inline Power, or if it will only support 802.3af.
For reference, the 200 and 300 series Small Business switches support these phones with a software upgrade. See this link: https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/71841/200-and-300-switches-now-supports-cisco-pre-standard-poe-legacy-poe
    Many thanks,
    Tom

My question is whether the 881 (when equipped for PoE) will support Cisco Inline Power, or if it will only support 802.3af.
    Hi Tom,
I don't have an 880 but I have a large fleet of 890 and all of them have PoE and I know these 890 support 802.3af easily.

  • Any 'Power On' button for the Apple Pro keyboard?

Any 'Power On' button for the Apple Pro keyboard?
It is possible to boot the Mac mini without pressing its rear power button? There is a handy 'Power On' button for the Apple Keyboard named 'i-Cue' (see below), but it no longer works with the new Macs (G5 and Mactel).
A shame that Apple removed the power button of their keyboards years ago. So, what I am looking for is something similar to this, but working with the new Macs:
USB Boot Dongle (i-Cue) for Mac
Allows you to work with your G3 or G4 mini tower hidden out of the way
You can have your Mac under the desk, yet it can be easily turned on from the keyboard position. Simply clips on to the Apple Pro Keyboard
    Includes 1.8m pass-through USB cable.
    http://www.lindy.com/uk/productfolder/03/32/32871/index.php
    Thanks.

To do this, though, it would require that you just
switch off the power to the Mac rather than going
through it's shutdown procedure. Pulling the power on
a running computer may cause all sorts of problems
and should be avoided unless it's absolutely
    necessary to do it.
I'd agree with that most certainly - though the old G4 would allow itself to be shut down and then have the remote power switch thrown. I've not had reason to test whether a mini would, or would simply immediately attempt a restart.
Thanks for jumping in though to make that point - it's crucial not to overlook the dangers of improper shutdowns.

  • Power converter required for new iMac?

I have taken my new iMac to Germany. The provided power cord does not have a converter like the Mac laptops have. Do I need to purchase a power converter that will step down the voltage when plugging into the outlets in Germany, or is there a control on the computer to adjust for the increased voltage?

To add additional clarification, I understand that I will need a plug adapter and have used one before without issue for my macbook laptop as the provided cord allows for switching the plug end to match the european outlets. The converter box on the cord (the white box) then steps down the voltage so the laptop can run safely being powered by the 220v outlet. The new desktop iMac, as I mention above, has a cord without the converter box. I am concerned that if i just use a plug converter, the computer will not be able to handle the additional voltage.

  • Cisco ISE configs for switch

I suppose Cisco ISE sends a URL redirect to the switch and the switch presents it to the client in case of guest Access getting a URL redirect with User Acceptance Page (Wired Guests and not wireless).
My question here is, Do we need to configure http and https server on the switches (both supplicant and authenticator)?
I am sure it will need but just wanted a confirmation..
I have checked the configuration for supplicant and Authenticator switches for ISE and it has no where mentioned that part of the config.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ise/1.0/user_guide/ise10_troubleshooting.html (a problem of URL redirection and possible cause is mentioned) ------- makes me sure that the config is needed.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2960x/software/15-0_2_EX/security/configuration_guide/b_sec_152ex_2960-x_cg/b_sec_152ex_2960-x_cg_chapter_010000.html
(config of supplicant and authenticator switch)---- nowhere mentioned of the http/https config for both switches.

Yes, its needed.  The http/s server within the swtich is used to grab the http user traffic and redirect the traffic to the CWA portal, or a device registration portal, or even to the Mobile Device Management (MDM) onboarding portal.  .
    ip http server
    ip http secure-server
The info below I grabbed from Cisco ISE for BYOD and secure unified access book.
"Many organization want to ensure that this redirection process using the switch's internal HTTP server is decoupled from the management of the switch itself, in order to limit the chances of an end user interacting with the management intervace and control plane of a switch.  this may be accomplished by running the following two commands from global configuration mode:
    ip http active-session-modules none
    ip http secure-active-session-modules none"

    Hi,
Has anyone involved project that customer has switched from Extended Classic to Classic in production system?
SRM 4.0 is live in Extended Classic now.
Customer is going to upgrade and switch their production system to SRM 7.0 Classic.
    Main process is
PS -> MM PR -> SRM Sourcing -> SRM PO (Extended) -> SUS PO -> SUS PO Response
GR, Service Entry and Invoice are handled in ERP
I see an issue if we switch SRM-SUS to MM-SUS, SUS PO is created before switch and PO Response is created after switch.
Do you have any lessens and learned topics for switching Extended Classic to Classic? Which documents have to be take care?

  • X240 power management driver for Windows 8.1

Installed the power management driver for Win 8.1   I am using the registry to START and STOP my charging process with the following reg keys ( I am doing it this way since there is no Power Manager software):
    ChargeStartControl
    ChargeStartPercentage
    ChargeStopControl
    ChargeStopPercentage
Been using it for a while, I dont allow the battery to charge unless it is under 35% and I was stoping at 85%.
I tried changing the stop back to 100% and it will not change past 85%.   I have rebooted, unistalled the driver, removed microsoft ACPI, replaced ACPI .. Nothing works.   This was working about a month ago.
For the record, for whatever reason, removing the power management driver does not remove the reg keys ...  I dont know why ...
Am I missing something or do I have a bad battery?

I will . Hope that Lenovo will do as needed. Anyone know a better way to be heard by Lenovo and get an answer for this issue?
