Im a newbie. I only hear "snow" (disturbance) when listening to clip?

Hi,
first of all I just want to say hi you all, I am new to this forum, but not that new to Apple's great products =)
To my problem: I have used Adobe's application (premiere pro) earlier (on a pc tho), but have now decided on trying the final cut express hd. I really like the interface, and the fact that there is a lot to learn. But yesterday, after making a little movieclip in iMovie (I captured the video in this app by using iSight) and after importing it to fcehd, I couldnt see anything nor hear any sound. I figured that I had to render the clip, and so I did. The video was now just as it should be, but the sound was still the same, which sounded like "snow", or whenever you listen to a radio channel on which no signals are sent. Do you know what i mean? How can i be able to hear the sound that comes with the video clip?

Because some video formats record with audio embedded in the video stream. What are you exporting from iMovie? The FCE formats are all available on the FCE website. FCE edits only in the QuickTime DV NTSC or PAL and in HD with the Apple Intermediate Codec. If you're going to do this with the iSight, first make sure the audio is present in iMovie, then export to QuickTime using the DV codec, PAL I'm assuming, with the audio set to 48K. Do not export to DV Stream.

The troubleshooting steps below may help you with the sound issue you are having with your iPhone 4:
iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
Resolution
Verify that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack, including headsets, headphones, or adapters.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is not switched to silent.
While on the Home screen, adjust the volume buttons. If you see the icon below, indicating that headphones are attached, there may be debris or an object lodged in the headset jack:
Check the headset jack. If there is an object lodged in the headset jack that is not easily removed, have the iPhone serviced to remove object.
For Original iPhone: If there is light debris, such as lint, in the headset jack, try connecting a pair of headphones to the headset jack and then remove the headphones. Repeat this several times to remove the debris.
If you have installed a protective film on the display, either ensure that the receiver is not covered or remove the film completely.
Check the receiver mesh (which is on the top front of the device, above the display). If it appears blocked, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If you have paired with a Bluetooth headset that is nearby, either use the headset or turn Bluetooth off (chooseSettings > General > Bluetooth).
Restart the iPhone.
If restarting the iPhone doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring the device.
If the issue persists, go to the Service Answer Center - iPhone for information on service.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPhone shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

I can only hear my phone when it is on speaker. The volume button says "headphone" I couldn't find anything on settings. Help!!

Try cleaning out your headphone jack with compressed air and/or a tissue/cotton swab.
Try plugging your headphones in/out about 20 times.

Check to see if Do Not Disturbed is turned on as does not notify with an alert or sound when the screen is locked. Look for the Moon in the upper right hand corner by your battery icon.

I am about to try a master reset but how do i backup my contacts from my address book? Does itunes do that when i backed up the rest of the stuff on my phone?

Back it up in iTunes! Just make a backup of the entire device but make sure you check sync contacts and the option to add contacts from phone to address book on computer.

When you import them into your Premiere Elements project, what does Premiere Elements Properties for that import give for
the audio description in the way of number of channels? If you open the Audio Meter (Window Menu/Audio Meters) and you play back
the video in the Premiere Elements Editor, how many channels does the Audio Meter display?
I just drag and drop video and when playing back only channel 1 will appear
What is your intended export for this video in terms of audio as well as video compression and formats?    MP4
I think you can only use audio if it's recorded on channel 1 or it does not recognize it.

Does hte iPhone say headphones when you adjust the volume, even when they aren't connected?

Why all do videos stop when i maximize them on youtube ? i can only hear sound. It hasnt happened before. It works with other browsers. I wouldnt like to change mozilla.

I think this happened a couple of weeks ago. I sudden realized that everytime i change the quality of a clip on youtube or simply maximize it the video stops playing .. i can only hear the sound. Trying with different browsers works just fine. Please help

My iMovie is skipping like crazy when I try to edit and then goes to a black screen and you can only hear the audio!?!? What's happening??

I use iMovie almost everyday for Youtube videos. I have nothing in my imovie except the 5 clips that I'm editing now. I have all my media on an external hard drive and delete everything after I'm done with ( I empty all trash cans). My iMovie is now skipping when I try to edit and then the clips just go to a black screen and I can only hear the audio, this has been going on for a week and I don't know what to do?!? Any help?

Hi Steve, thanks for your help. but this has really got me beat. When I play the track straight off my computer I hear all audio tracks. But then I “get media” bring the clip in and listen off the elements timeline – I only hear track one???
So my computer must be fine?
When you say “Can I see both right and left channel in the wave form? Its hard to tell – am I meant to be looking at the “green strip “ on the timeline? Its so very small. - I see a yellow line and a grey line underneath? what am I looking at. Its very frustrating because I am trying to edit a friends concert and the music is on track one – but the atmos and applause is on the other 3 tracks – but all I can hear is the music
any suggestions?

This might be a problem with the movies themselves, where are they from, are they your own movies that you have converted yourself.
