Im changing computers can i bring my songs

Im getting a new computer and i want to transfer the songs i have brought from itunes to this computer can i do this?? if not then ive just wasted my money.

of course you can.
assuming all your media files are in the default location, copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music or media folder) from the old to the exact same spot on the new machine.
you can use an external HD or your network for that.

  • If you change computers can i keep my songs ans apps bought on my account

So I use my friends mac for my songs and everything. If I change computers lets say to mine, if I login to my itunes will I be able to download all the songs, apps etc that I already bought using his computer and my ipod?

Hi, shouldn't be a problem. Just connect your ipt and sign in.  Especially with the new iTunes.  Why have you been using your friend's computer?

  • I didn't back up my itunes... and I just changed computers can someone please restore my itunes account from my last computer... I loved my playlists.. help!!

Please help....I didn't back up my itunes... and I just changed computers can someone please restore my itunes account from my last computer... I loved my playlists.. help!!

Type "move itunes library" into the google search bar for directions on moving your itunes library from one computer to another.

  • Changing computers, can't "see" my files on IPod menu, but I can in windows

I changed computers, and followed the directions, essentially: used my ipod as a disk to move files from old laptop to new laptop. Did all the steps of consolidating files etc. OK, no problem. Then I can see all the music on Itunes on new laptop. Restore and reset IPod and then synchronized. Files load to the IPod (I can see on the IPod when I view outside of ITunes (i.e. windows explore). But, when I try to play or view any files going through the IPod menus, there isn't anything there, nothing in music, podcasts, videos, nothing. If I plug the IPod into the old laptop, restore, and synch, everything is fine. I've tried this about 4 times and cannot get this to work. What am I doing wrong?

Copied media files to a HPFS+ (journaled) SimpleTech USB drive connected to my iMac. Files copied fine and can be accessed from the iMac with no problems.
I connect it to the TC, the drive can be seen and mounted over the network but the files do not show up. The free space corresponds to the free space left by the files I had copied--but again the files do not show up.
TC file sharing is on and is working fine as demonstrated by access to the internal drive without problem. And the USB drive shows up in the airport utility without error indication. Files copied over the network to the USB drive are accessible as expected (read/write/delete--no problem).
    Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • How can I bring my songs back?

Okay, what if your ipod as well as your computer crashes and you have no idea how to bring your songs back, what do you do? Is it posible to bring back my songs or is it already too late for that?

Ok, so as I understand it you no longer have songs on either the iPod or the computer.
    Is this correct?
If so, and you have no back up anywhere else, you're looking at some data recovery software such as those mentioned in this post.

  • HT1391 How can I copy new songs from other sites back to my windows folders?

I just bought an ipod and downloaded itunes on it and my lap-top, (where I use windows media player.) Today I bought some songs from another website on my computer, but I couldn't find them in the "my music" folders, I signed on to itunes and found them there. I checked, and my preferences for that site hadn't been changed; how can I copy those songs back into windows? Itunes copied my entire library from my computer...

    I'm replying to myself:
I figured this out; just go to the itunes folder, open it, and then move the song, or album, into that artist's folder in "my music." I thought about doing this, then I read the cautions about renaming, or moving, tracks and hesitated. It worked just fine.

I Have iTunes since 2008. I have changed computers and I know have old libraries in my Hard Disk but iTunes do not locate a lot of songs when I try to play it. How can I correct this situation?

When iTunes say that try to find the file you want iTunes to play in your iTunes > Media folder.  If iTunes offers to find others, let it. If it does not find them all you will have to find them yourself or re-add the files from your drive to iTunes (use Automatically Add to iTunes folder).

  • I have a Nano, where I changed computers and moved my library.  Now my nano doesn't recognize the location or the song on the nano.  How do I update my library so the nano will recognize.

I  have an IPOD Nano.  I had it originally set up on another computer where I would down load my songs that I purchased from ITunes.  My Nano would sync up with my PC when I would plug it in.  I had to change computers, so I moved all my songs / library to my new PC.  I downloaded the ITunes process to my new PC and then purchased a song.  I saw the song in my download area of my PC under ITunes Media / downloads.  However, my nano would not sync as it is still referencing the prior location, which was on my old PC.  I moved the song directly to the Nano when it was plugged in.  I see the song on the Nano directory when I have it plugged in to the PC via the USB cable.  I even click on the song and I hear it play from the Nano on the PC.  However, when I go to look for the song directly from my song listing from the Nano music screen, it doesn't list he song or the artist as being on the Nano.
I have tried to follow the online instructions for erase and sync the old library to the new, but that doesn't happen.  Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong in moving from one PC to another.  Seems to me this should be a much simplier process.  But I find working with Apple products they are all harder to deal with.  I would appreciate your help.
    Mel

I am not doing it in ITunes, but i did down load the song from ITunes.  I loaded the song on to my Nano, but in my menu selections it doesn't show the song or the artist in any search format.  However, when i plug in my nano to my PC I see the Nano library on my PC drive listings and that song and artist are there.  I can click on the song and it will play in Windows media on my work PC.  I did notice that the format for most all the songs in my library on my Nano are MPEG - 4 audio Files.
    Thanks for your help, Mel

  • On my windows Itunes I changed computers and ended up with two of every song. How do I delete the duplicates without doing it one at a time?

I have duplicates of all the songs on my windows 7 computer.  I changed computers and ended up with duplicates of all of my songs. How can I delete them all without having to do it one at a time? thanks!

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

  • I have an older generation of Ipod and I am trying to upload all my songs from my old Ipod to my new Itunes account. How can I change my old Apple ID to my new one so I can keep all my songs without having to buy or hunt for them all over again?

Please help I am having the hardest time trying to get all my songs on to one account to make my life easier, but my Ipod is registered under an old apple account and I want to change it so all my old songs go onto my new apple ID. Any suggestions, please help?

Sorry meffie, you cannot transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another. Are the songs under the old ID all purchased via iTunes?
If so, then sign onto the iTunes on the computer with your old ID and Authorize the computer for that Apple ID: Store on the top menu, then click on Authorize This Computer.
Once it is Authorized, you can then go to the iTunes Store and under Quick Links on the right-hand side, click on Purchased. Then click on Music, Songs, Not In this Library, and you should be able to see all of your purchased music, which you can download to your iTunes library individually by clicking on the cloud next to the song, or you can click on Download All at the bottom of the screen to download all of the tunes.
    Cheers,

My Itunes Library and iPhone have fallen out of sync on music over the yearsare - how can I compare my itunes library with my Iphone  to see what songs are missing from my library so I can then bring my Library up to date

    Hello Solid Buck,
Thank you so much for providing the details about the duplicate song issue you are experiencing.  It sounds like you would like to remove the duplicate songs that will not play on your iPhone, but when you connect it to iTunes, iTunes only shows you one copy of the song on your iPhone.
In this situation, I recommend deleting the individual songs that do not play directly from your iPhone.  I found the steps to do this on page 61 of the iPhone User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf):
Delete a song from iPhone: In Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

That really does not work since music is not included in the backup.  See:

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over the last few days, I assume that there has been a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting those tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.
