Im connected to the internet, but I am unable to update my phone or sign in to the itunes store
I received an error which says The iPhone software server could not be contacted. It says to make sure network settings are correct and your connection is active, and try again later. I'm connected to the Internet, but I am unable to update my phone or sign in to the iTunes store. Please help I have tried everything.
I have the exact same issue. Started happening about the time iOS 5 was available. Thought it was just server overload with everyone trying to download it at once but it has been well over a week now. iTunes Support responded with a form letter response with links to solutions that I said I tried in my original email. Need to make sure my Amazon Downloader app still works if Apple doesn't want my money.

Jailbroken phones can not be discussed here.
It's highly likely that it is now bricked. The jailbreak most likely did permanent damage. There are lots of reports of previously jailbroken/hacked phones that become unusable when attempting to apply a legitimate unlock. -

We'll need more information before anyone can be of much help. What model iPhone is it, what versions of iOS are running on the iPad 2 now, what exactly are you trying to update, and what version of iTunes are you running? And what exactly is going wrong (include error messages if any).
Once we have that information, someone here can probably offer advice. Note that you cannot sync content or upgrade iOS wirelessly until you get your iPhone and iPad up to iOS 5 and that requires that you connect those devices to your computer via the Dock-USB cable.

Where are you trying to connect from? Your profile shows IOS 6.0.1. If you are using an IOS device, you'd have a better chance of getting a good response if you posted on that forum.

My 2nd gen works fine with WPA2 and AES encryption.
You may need to go back and start over. Reset the router back to factory defaults, log on as the admin, set up security, DHCP, and make sure the IP address pool has enough IP addresses to lease to ALL of the computers/devices that will connect to that the router. -

you may be connected to the wireless network but the question is the internet working properly on the wireless network...
what i mean is that i can make a wireless network without the internet so i can save and share files and have other devices connected to the same network access them... but you have to make sure that your internet it running properly... may have to reconfigure the router is your using PPPOE or if it was working prior to your post then try to restart your modem... that usually resolves most issues. -

I have reset my router multiple times, and I was connected to the internet just fine before. I have a booster and it was working great until yesterday when it said I was connected to the internet but everytime I tried to load safari it said I wasn't connected. It is working while I am using the hard-line, but I am wondering how to fix the Wi-Fi. I have also reset safari, cleared the cache, and recieved every update.
ThanksI too am experiencing an EXTREMELY slow connection to the internet when my PC comes out of sleep. When I check/troubleshoot the connection, I have all green lights, indicating I should be able to get on line, but it takes about 4 or 5 minutes before I can do so. It seems that this problem started shortly after the iCloud (or i Could as another poster said) was loaded. I know its not my ISP, because my wife, who works on an IBM machine gets right on, no problemo. Is there something going on with either the recent update or the i Could (use to be able) addition? Defective software?

Not very helpful but I have the same issue. Plugging in and doing the update via. iTunes will probably work but I find that whole experience annoying (downloading apps not on the Mac, etc..)
