Im looking for a cheep prepaid plan.

I use to have a family Verizon plan but can't afford it now so Im looking at the prepaid ones. I only need one phone and I really only use texting ALOT so a unlimited plan would be nice. I don't need web access but I would defiantly use it. And I can't pay more then $20-25 a month.so I guess I just need help finding the right plan. any suggestions will help. and! I already have a Verizon inactive phone can I buy minutes/a plan for the old phone?

As long as the old phone you have is a feathure phone and not a Smart Phone is should be  able to be used as a prepaid call customer service just to double check 1-888-294-6804.  You can get an unlimited texting plan for $20.00 that would cover verizon and other service providers there is a $10.00 text plan for verizon to verizon unlimited texting. If you you think at some point you would want to use the cell for voice you can buy the $30.00 plan  which is good cor 90 days and use the 25 cents per minute plan, you would have to add $20.00 text package every month. They do have just text packages which customer service can explain to you when you call to verify that that your old cell will work with the new prepaid plan. You will have to pay $25 or $35 to reactive the old phone.

  • Looking for a International Calling Plan + Data?

    Hello,
Let me first start by saying I am deploying to South Korea (Osan AFB) .
I am looking for a plan with unlimited data usage and at least 450 minutes. I was reading about your global phones and south Korea is CDMA so that is good. It looks like I would have to get a new Droid but that's alright.
I have a few questions though:
    1.  How does the data work for that plan? I don't quite understand how it works.
    2.  It says its $1.99 per minute, do you really charge by the minute? $1.99 is steep for a minute,
If I used 200 minutes at that rate my bill would cost $398 plus the taxes and other expenses.
    3. What can the party  I am calling expect? Would it have to be a world phone to?
I am just really trying to figure out how much this would cost.
    Thanks,
    Freddy

I would strongly reccomend AGAINST trying to use your Verizon service overseas.  As you've discovered, the per minute rates are quite high, and your unlimited data plan will not work there, you would need to pay roaming rates for data as well, and they are no more palatable than the voice rates for international service.
Once you get to South Korea, you should research local carriers and get service from one that is affordable and has the services you need, probably a prepaid carrier.
To your last question, Verizon customers are not charged international rates for INCOMING international calls, so you could call back to the States from your local cellphone, landline, or VoIP provider, and they would be charged the same as if they were getting a call from another phone in the US.

  • Looking for a Mapping/Route Planning program for my Macbook Pro...

I use to use "Streets & Trips" on my PC.  I am at a loss what is a good program for Apple.
    Would appreciate any guidance.  Thanks.

GPS device?  You might be able to guess that I am not the sharpest (computer) tool in the shed...
Previously, my Streets & Trips program came with a GPS antenna that I plugged in to my old laptop.  I could then use my laptop as a supersized GPS, like a TomTom or Garmin.
Right. I am not familiar with Streets and Trips and the GPS device that came with it but I think that is specific to Microsoft. You can get a similar device that plugs into your Mac the same as the Streets and Trips Device plugged into your PC. The navigation software comes with it or you can download the software.
Use Google to find Mac compatible devices. I think CoPilot Live, TomTom, and Garmin have compatible devices. But I use my phone for navigation so am not 100% sure that each of those companies have Mac compatible navigation packages that are similar to Streets and Trips.

  • When will the Cosmos 2 be available on the 50$ unlimited prepaid plan?

I had my cosmos 2 activated on the daily prepaid plan until today when i moved my service to a flip phone to give to my dad. When i went to the store to activate the cosmos 2 on the 50$ plan, sadly they told me that the cosmos 2 cannot be used on the 50$ unlimited. Why is this the case? And when should it be available for the better prepaid plan? Until then ill be using a crappily designed intensity 2...

You can use the Cosmos but not the Cosmos 2, with the prepaid plans you can only use a basic phone.
Cosmos 2 is a basic phone. it sure isn't a smartphone.

  • How to keep phone number on prepaid plan if you drop service for 1-2 months and then resume?

Impossible to get thru to Verizon chat for over 8 hours!  :-(
When I signed up for prepaid plan on Iphone (49 monthly, no annual contract), I was told I could keep my phone number even if I dropped service for a month or two.  Verizon would charge $100 to 'reserve' my phone number, so I would not lose the number - so they would not recycle it out to another phone.
I don't see where to pay the $100 and for this payment to be used for reserving the number so I dont lose it.  Iff I add $100 it just looks like I paid for 2 months, I dont see a way for this to be applied to keeping the number.  It would just be applied to the monthly amount.
And there is no way to get a live person on Chat :-(
Would really appreciate your help pls.
    Loads of thanks,

At $49/month, I do not see the difference between just paying your monthly costs for 2 months and not using the phone or paying $100 to reserve your number. The end result is the same, but in the first you could always start using the phone if you needed it.
$100 to reserve a number for 2 months is just ridiculous.

  • What to look for in Execution plans ?

    Hi Pals,
Assuming the query execution is slow , I have collected the xml plan. What should I look for in the actual execution plan . What are the top 10 things I need to watch out for?
I know this is a broad and generic question but I am looking for anyone who is experienced in query tuning to answer this question.
    Thanks in Advance.

Reading execution plans is a bit of an art. But a couple of things:
    1) Download and install SQL Sentry Plan Explorer (www.sqlsentry.net). This is a free tool that in msny cases gives a better experience to look at execution plans, particularly big and ugly ones.
    2) I usually look for the thickest arrows, as thickness indicates the number of rows being processed.
    3) Look for deviations between estimates and actual values, as these deviations are often the source for bad performance. In Plan Explorer, you can quickly flip between the too. In SSMS you need to look at the popup for every operator. (But again, it is
the operator with fat arrows that are of most interest - and those before them.
    4) The way to read the plan is that the left-most operator asks the operators it is connected to for data. The net effect is that data flows from right to left, and the right-hand side if often more interesting.
    5) Don't pay much attention to the percentages about operator cost. These percentages are estimates only,
not actual values. They are only reliable if the estimates are correct all the way through - and when you have a bad plan that is rarely the case.
This was the overall advice. Then there is more specific one: are indexes being used when expected? Note that scans are necessarily not bad. Sometimes your problem is that you have a loop join + index seek, when you should have had two scans and a hash join.
Try to get a grip of how you would process the query, if you had to do it manually. Does the plan match that idea?

Re: How to keep phone number on prepaid plan if you drop service for 1-2 months and then resume?
    Thanks for the replies !
I pasted in the link to the discussion I started earlier.  Dont see a way to respond to replies.  If there is a way to do this, would love to know pls!
I may want to drop the monthly service for 2 months or more. So the offer to reserve a number for $100 is actually more appealing than paying 49 monthly for more than 2 months.  I just cant find a way to pay it that doesnt get lost in monthly payments
I have tried the cust service number for pre paid.  It's menu driven, no option at all to speak with anyone, and no option that matches my question.  It's nothing more than a set of text that is accessed by the telephone.  One way communication, no chance to get any help :-(  Disappointing.  And Chat is still busy :-(
Thanks for reading and any tips!

If you don't get the option to reply then refresh and log back in, your login most likely timed out.
As for calling in I just called
    Phone Number
    888-294-6830
I waited 2 mins 36 seconds with no menus and got a human.

  • Looking to get a data plan for the sole purpose of playing online video games

    Hi everyone,
I live in the mountains of Pine Valley, CA and the seclusion is becoming intolerable.  I'm looking to get a data plan with Verizon to play online video games, namely Diablo 3 or failing that due to latency, then Civilization 5.  Can anyone give me pointers on if this would work and what plan I could get?  Currently, I have a plan with Boost Mobile which uses Sprint cell phone towers.  I tested my internet connection with speedtest.net and received a ping as low as 140 and as high as 1000, but I'm hoping the 1000 is just due to reception issues that can be fixed with a better antenna.    The 140 ping is a little high too but I'm hoping this will be better on the Verizon network since I think their cellphone towers are closer.  The closest landmark to me is the Golden Acorn Casino at 1800 Golden Acorn Way  Campo, CA 91906.  If anyone could tell me the distance from Verizon's cell tower to the casino and Sprint's and could estimate a ping value based on that, I would really appreciate it.
I like Verizon's data plan for 10gb but I'm confused on device connectivity.  Is this the data plan plus whatever router device I hook it up to? I would also need some sort of antenna and a router, wireless or wired.  Can anyone give me pointers on how to find these?  An estimation on Ping and bandwith speed and also on peak hours in my area would be nice too.  Thanks to anyone that can help me with this!  Oh, and while I don't think my area has coverage for 4g, though I'm pretty sure there is 3g, would I possibly get 4g if I had a strong enough antenna?

Homefusion comes with antenna that is mounted OUTSIDE of your dwelling. That why they send someone out to install it. It also comes with the router. You're thinking of Share Everything data only plans. Where you pay $20 for the mi-fi and then pay extra on the data pending how much you want.  Share Everything with a mi-fi and 10 GB would be $80 a month when you can get Homefusion for $60 for the same 10 GB. An considering the antenna is more power and outside you're a lot more likely to get reception with Homefusion. In either case it should be noted you'll need to pass a credit check and sign a two year contract.

You can buy Applecare anytime before the 1 year warranty expires, so you could leave that to his discretion if you wanted, and he'd have 1 year to consider it.
You can save ~$30 on the mini if you qualify for an educational or corporate discount. Office 2004 costs ~$145 with educational discount.

To use the hotspot for any of those devices, I believe you have to switch to a postpaid account and plan. You can see the pricing for the available postpaid plans under the "Shop" area of the website.

  • Looking for comment on disaster recovery plan

Looking for some comment on where we are and where we’re planning on going with our Continuity of Operations / Disaster Recovery plan.
Current setup is Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 on HP-UX Itanium 64-bit. OAS / Forms 9i on a separate HP-UX Itanium box. We do not have control over the version of Oracle or the hardware. I am pushing the powers that be on upgrading to 10.2.0.4, but am not holding my breath.
Basic backup is threefold. DB is in archivelog mode. RMAN full backup is taken weekly. Incremental backup taken daily. These backups are to disk. In addition, a daily full-system backup (to tape) is done with the db shut down, providing a daily cold backup as well as backup of the online backups. Also daily exports – full and schema specific.
All db files are on an HP SAN unit. SAN replication software is used to mirror all i/o to a similar unit located at a sister site. Likewise, they replicate their SAN to ours. Each site has a pair of backup servers to be used by the other site if needed. Sister site has already tested loading our backup servers, mounting the mirror of their SAN, and starting the db.
Since sister site is a couple of hours away and crosses major network boundaries, management would like to also put up a DataGuard standby at a facility only 30 minutes away and within our own network. Plan is to host that on duplicate HP servers, but disk would be on a NAS instead of a SAN.
I have managed a DataGuard setup, but did not create/configure it, so am now digging into the docs, starting with the DataGuard Concepts. I’ve never worked with NAS and am not clear on how it differs from SAN, and what the implications are.
I'm looking for any comment, especially any red flags, on what I’ve described.

    Satish Kandi wrote:
Not an expert comment on your setup but just the thoughts that came to my mind while reading this...
    1. What is the setup for backup preservation? Is it in one of the servers only? Is the backup also replicated?Belt and suspenders. The backup location on disk is part of what gets mirrored to the sister SAN. Plus, the nightly system backup to tape picks it up as well.
    2. What about OAS/Forms 9i backup? You have not mentioned anything about that. That is also mirrored to the sister SAN.
    3. What is the archive log generation frequency? Or how much data loss can you afford?A typical day will see one or two dozen archivelog files.

In addition, a daily full-system backup (to tape) is done with the db shut down, providing a daily cold backup as well as backup of the online backupsLucky you :-) but I don't see a need for this with the levels of backup that you have (especially with RMAN weekly backup and daily archive log backup). No, no need, but it does give us another layer at no real cost. This cold backup is really just a byproduct of a daily full system shutdown and backup. We have a high tolerance for system down time, but low tolerance for data loss.
