Im looking for some opinions for games

i use this mac mostly for work but i like an occasional game, i have lord of the rings and harry potter but its sometimes a little dificult to move around using the track pad all the time. so, im looking for a joy stick recommendation or other ideas to make games a little more fun???? and not so much work....any gamers???

KOTOR is not working well on Mac (very slow motion in some levels), and not
at all on Intel-based Macs (so slow it becomes unplayable).
My favourites (working on Intel-based Macs) are:
- Civilization IV
- Warcraft III
- Age of Mythology
- Lord of the Rings
- Worms 3D
- Toysight Gold (using an iSight camera)
- the Pangea games (in particular Nanosaur, Cro-Mag Rally)
You might want to have a look at FPS games such as:
Doom3, Halo, Call of Duty2, Unreal Tournament 2004.
Enjoy !

  • Looking for game center games to play ipad vs. ipod touch

After trying a number of games that simply do not work as advertised via gamecenter, I am looking for suggestions for some games that can be played between an iPad (me) and and iPod touch (4th gen) used by a kid.
Anyone have any that work well?

Thanks for the help but that told me nothing.
game center is the first half baked item i have seen come from Apple.
After downloading $15+ of games that are supposedly game center ready to play others, 1 of them works and that does not work between the iPad and iPod.
Something is not right with this and Apple ought to make sure the descriptions in the store are accurate. I am done spending money to be beta tester for something that should simply work.

  • Looking for games\apps that run on 3.1.3 1st Gen iPod Touch

I am looking for a way to search for games and apps that still will run on 3.1.3.  I am mostly interested in educational\kids games.  This is
for the iPod my 3yr old gets handed from time to time to use.
For my own library, it's easy enough.....select all and see what won't install.  But can't search the App store by what will install....

You can try Googling. There is no way to search the App store or Appshopper.com by required iOS.

FYI, this is a poorly worded set of possible answers:
    8. How much experience do you have using the following technologies?
I’ve never heard of that technology
I’ve investigated that technology but never used it professionally
I’ve spent some time working with that technology
I am comfortable using that technology
I have used that technology on a daily basis for less than 1 year
I have used that technology on a daily basis for more than 1 year
For a number of these technologies, I've heard of them but have not been inclined to investigate, which seems like it would be useful info to Adobe.

  • Looking for game recommendations (Pantech Crux)

So, I'd love to have a game or two available for times when I've got a bit of time to kill. I'd prefer some sort of puzzle game.
I bought mahjong... and I can't believe how bad it is. I played it for about a minute, and I doubt I'll even bother opening it up again. I should have just used that $7 to light my fireplace or something - it would have at least been somewhat useful. I didn't expect the quality of games on my Crux to be anywhere near what I get on my iPod touch 4, but I was hoping for something at least passable. The game itself is ridiculously tiny because screen real estate is taken up by the silly D-pad controls. It's incredibly tedious having to use the D-pad control to move a cursor: up-up-up-left-left-left... I'm almost to the tile that I want, then it snaps to some other one that I didn't want.
So, are there any games that I can get for the Crux that actually use the touch screen the way they should? (Not just turning my touch screen into a virtual version of some crappy phone from a decade ago).
    Thanks!

So, are there any games for the Crux that will actually use the touch screen properly (puzzle, or anything at all)?? Anyone with a Crux have any games that work well?

  • Looking for games that work on an old comp

I've set up an emachine that has 128mb of ram and a 900mhz celeron processor to run openbox and a few other things. Really, it runs rather well, and I've only had it use swap when I'm compiling something while browsing the net with a few other things open.
Anyway, I wanted to know what games I can run on it, other than xtris, xboard, and emulators (that includes WINE). Does linux have any firstperson shooters or adventure games that can run well on such old architecture?

XEvil is quite nifty, and it ran smoothly on my old 700 MHz pIII with 128 MB of RAM.
    [EDIT]
The package in AUR doesn't build, so I think you have to use a dated, official build. The issue with this build, is that you can't set the keyboard controls graphically; if you want custom keyboard controls, you have to do it through the file ~/.Xresources like described somewhere on this page.

  • Looking for some advice overclocking my i7 4790K :)

    Hello there!
I've changed my whole PC insides last week that I would be able to overclock and push to the limits. I'd like to ask more experienced users about some advices and opinions.
I managed to overclock my i7 4790K to 4800 MHz running at 1.32V as a maximum. Below that value it would BSOD. What I am not certain about are temperatures of my processor.
I made a picture comparing default clock with turbo boost enhancement (4.4 GHz for all cores) and maximum overclock at 4800 MHz with temperatures displayed.
Seems like temps running 4.8 GHz are too high, aren't they? My current cooler is not really high-end, it has a single fan, single radiator and 7 heatpipes. I am thinking to upgrade for a BeQuiet! Dark Rock PRO 3 cooler, it has a double fan, double radiator and 14 heatpipes (7 on both sides). I am not interested in liquid cooling, just to prevent unwanted advices about it
Do you think there would be much difference between my current cooler and this BeQuiet?
Here are clocks, voltages and temperatures, made after a while of tortures using Prime95 software:
    What do you think?

Allright, so it is most probably my cooler that isn't very efficient as it seems. That BeQuiet! I mentioned costs triple the price of my Fortis 2, looks powerful, guess I will stick to the idea and go for it then. Zalman cooler doesn't really look like hell of a cooler, hehe

Typical with Intel are variations within the same CPU models. Some are good CPU OC'ers and some have a strong IMC. Tonight at our family 4th of July gathering, I will be taking home a Z97 Gaming 7 with 4790k that belongs to my uncle to play with for awhile. I do know the performance optimization with his particular system ended up being 46X and 2666 Ram speed. 47X performance had flattened out, and 48X saw a slight decrease in performance. It did run 48X @ 1.299v's (DMM), 62C under load with ambient 25C. CPU cooler used is a Zalman CNPS9900Max-R. As previously mentioned, keep the CPU temperature below 73C when under stress.
May I ask under what conditions you had such temperatures? What stress software was in use?
My first try was 4700 MHz, it was running stable at 1.29V. You say it's not worth it to push for 4800 MHz? I'm looking for a maximum possible FPS in games, unfortunately I couldn't yet test anything as my MSI
GTX780Ti is still under warranty fix (fan issue).
    Edit:
Quote from: Sea Dog on 05-July-14, 04:50:11
Judging by the 44X, to keep under 72.72C with the current installed cooling solution, you 'might' make 45X or 46X within the Intel published temperature limit.
Indeed 45/46x keeps acceptable temperatures. With better cooler I should be able to reach 4700MHz below 75-73 degrees. What is actually the risk of running CPU too hot? Over these 73 degrees?
Quote from: Nichrome on 05-July-14, 05:16:16
Nice OC but these temps won't let your CPU last for long. Make sure they're below 72*C as maximum.

  • Looking for All-In-One Sudoku Game App for iPad?

Bare with me...  I'm going to learn now if this is an appropriate question here and if not where to go that would be appropriate?
I'm looking for a great iPad Sudoku game app that offers a variety of different format variations using numbers 1-9, different colors, and different shapes--that sort of thing...instead of just the common numbers.  I'm not concerned about scoring the game or tracking time or the leaderboard stuff.
I've looked and found a gillion to consider including Google and looked at some for more detail but so far have found none...and maybe none exist or maybe I'll have to settle for two or three separate Sudoku games to fullfill what I'm after?
So maybe someone in the community knows of just the Sudoku app I'm looking for?
    Thank you.

A quick Google search provided the following:  http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sudoku-hd-for-ipad/id364909963?mt=8
I don't know if it offers exactly what you want, but you can check the App Store, or you can go to Google and type the following in your search bar:  apple sodoku app ipad
    Several options will come up.

  • Looking for some assistance

I would be classified as a beginner when it comes to flash.
When searching around in the forums, I feel completely lost when I
see a huge list of actionscript. However, I was hoping someone
would be able to direct me to some great beginner tutorials or
assist me right in here. What i'm trying to do is build a website
to showcase my work as a game designer; mainly artwork, movies,
flash games, and user downloadable modding/mapping files. What I'm
    looking for is....
    1) How to load images/movies from external sources. I managed
to find a resource that explains using "load external movieclip".
It works perfectly for the images, and seemed to work for .swf
files. However, what can I use to load other movie types such as
    (.wmv, .mpg, .avi)?
    2) How to add a simple preloader to the images/movies that
    will be loading.
    3) How to load flash games. I'm not certain, but my best
guess is that I could use the "low external movieclip" behavior.
    4) The last thing I want to know is how I can allow users to
download files from my flash site. I'm going to use a simple
button, but I'm unsure of how to set that up.
Like I said, I'm only a beginner, so any tutorials related to
what I need or code samples of what might work would be greatly
    appreciated. Thank you!

Seems a canny bit out of my scope lol, but could you not just
use invisible buttons again, but place them on higher layers than
    the main one?

  • Looking for some advice on what to do about

    So I have a macbook pro - late 2007 model I guess
    2.16 core duo(just before the core 2 duo's i guess)
    2gig's ram
    ATY,RadeonX1600 256mb
My problem itself is in 3 parts
1.) My battery fried late 2008(have it running off the adapter since) and I was wondering if my model will fit with the 2008 model batteries? If so do you know how much it would cost(cdn dollars if possible)
2.) My video card is from what I believe to be ruined/terrible shape. I've been using SMC fan control for awhile to sway the overheating, and it helps but I believe the damage was already done while I did not have it active while using my computer for games and other various things(MBP's seem to run insanely hot?)
I will be calling the apple store i bought it from tomorrow but I was looking for some advice on any type of diagnostic tests I might be able to do to test my video card as well how much would it cost to replace(assuming you can't upgrade much in a laptop)
3.) Wondering your opinion on the overall value of the computer with the replacements/without.
It appears to run perfectly fine though sometimes when program's open up I start to see tearing and pixel's looking crazy all over my screen(assuming a fried video card)

You can buy the battery design for any old MacBook Pro models (not the unibody). MacBook Pro from the first to the last generation uses the same battery. It cost $129 (not sure how much it cost in Canadian but probably a $20-$30 premium). As for your graphics card, Apple has a one price model for all hardware repairs ($310 or something around there and converted to Canadian probably around $350 to $360). I think you should get it replaced. The only test that I can think of is to re-install the OS and see if the problem occurs, if it does then its most likely a hardware issue. There is no standard test that's widely available. With the replacement I think the computer values in the range of $1800 to $1500) and without the repair I would say about $1350 to $1000 at best.

  • I'm looking for a good game on my new MacBook.

I have never really played PC games (long time console gamer), but now that I've gotten a 13 inch MacBook (1 GB RAM) I'd like to try something out. All I'm looking for is something open ended (like Morrowind) or something with choices (like SW:KOTOR). So, recommend me some of the best games out. List as many as you can, I would like to see my options.
    Thanks!

    Hi April,
I think that what you are looking for is not really possible on a Macbook. The games that you mention are 3D games, which from what everyone has beaten into the ground on these forums, are not even worth playing on the Macbook. Not sure if they have a compatible version for Intel, but I really liked Civilization 2 back in the day. It doesn't look great, but it's a lot of fun to make a tribe and then compete against other races for supremacy (or diplomacy...right) I hear Civ 4 doesn't work well with the Macbook, not sure if Civ 3 does either. Anyway, I'm thinking that strategy games might be along the lines of what you should look into, since they can be open ended. What I do know is that the Macbook is NOT a gaming laptop in almost any sense of the word, so your choices are REALLY limited.Sorry I can't be of more help, I'm not really into computer gaming myself...maybe check out gamespot.com? You could also look into emulators for Nintendo and Super Nintendo games. There are some really good old console games that you may have missed out on and you can even find adapters for the old controllers that you can use with your USB ports. Good luck.

  • Looking for iphone games for mental math or vedic math training?  Dear all,

Looking for iphone games for mental math or vedic math training?
    Dear all,
I am a fan of mental math and/or vedic math etc. and I want to utilize my spare time to do some training whenever I am idle.
That's why I want to buy an iphone. In fact, I buy iphone because it can be a game machine in addition to a phone.
For example, I can utilize my time commuting on subway to do some training...
But I couldn't find good mental math and/or vedic math training game on iphone.
I am an adult so those too-simple problems such as 2*9=18 are not interesting to me,
I would like to exercise something like 123x45, etc.
Could anybody give me some pointers?
    Thanks!

need quick math training games,... thanks!

  • Looking for some suggestions

Hello, Just looking for some web developers/designer's to give some suggestions on window managers that may be suited to your profession more so than others, maybe highlight the pro's/con's if you could. I guess what I am really trying to decipher is which window manager is best suited for a web developer/designer, there seems to be a wealth of options to choose from. Thanks

But /dev/zero is correct, these type of threads usually devolve into endless opinions, flame wars, along with a pinch of trolling, and some company usually gets slandered.
I've read the script -- in the end, it comes down to just try them until you find the tools you like.
ah sorry, my intention was never to start a silly flame war. I am going to spend some time trying out tiling WM's other than Xmonad, It's kind of annoying since I'm forced to use win7 at work, and the contrast between work->home is quite large.
If you like tiling, try the "plug.n" autohotkey script/app on your work windows box. Does a very good job - or at least as good as is possible.
There is a limitation if you need to use stuff like VMs. But this is getting a bit OT, so i'll leave it at that .

  • Looking for a Bubble game i had on another mobile. Cant find so far

The concept of this bubble game was to match as many as possible to gain points and to have as many of the same colour all connected in some way gave massive points when deleted. This game was on my O2 XDA Trion & also had been on a similar model that i had with T mobile.
Im looking for something similar, i dont think any of the bubble games available are like that but maybe there is a game with the same idea?

Yeah its very like it. Downloaded it but still trying for almost the same game

    Oracle EE 10.2.0.1
    OS: Win 2003 Server x64
    RAM: 32GB
    Proc: 16x 3.5ghz
I currently have our system set to use a 18GB page (Across multiple hard drives).  The server has 33GB of RAM in it so I'm wondering how much of a benefit I could gain by uping the page file.
I've read recommendations from Oracle that the paging file needs to be the same size as the amount of system RAM and I've read that paging for windows needs to be 1.5x the amount of RAM.
Things are running fine at the moment but I'm always looking to improve the system. Just curious about others experiences with the OS page file and how they've set it because sometimes more is not better .
Thank you for your time and Opinions if posted.

You appear to have developed a case of Compulsive Tuning Disorder.  Your time would be better spent looking for real, measurable bottlenecks, not changing something just because it doesnt' exactly match some piece of advice that is itself just a 'general rule'.  Go get a cup of coffee.  Stop by the secretary's desk and flirt.  Re-read the Concepts manual.

BTW, it would be really helpful if you would go to your profile and give yourself a recognizable name.  It doesn't have to be your real name, just something that looks like a real name.  Who says my name is really Ed Stevens?  But at least when people see that on a message they have a recognizable identity.  Unlike the system generated name of 'ed0f625b-6857-4956-9b66-da280b7cf3a2', which is no better than posting as "Anonymous".
