Im properly emailing photos in Iphoto 11, but recipients can't open.

Im properly sending photos from Iphoto, it says successfully sent, but some recepients are not  able to see the photos, and some get boxes with question marks, using Iphoto 11 Vs 9.2.1. Inever had this problem before. Im also having a problem opening Iphoto sometimes. This Iphoto11 is problematic, and causing me much grief.

What type of computer do the people having problems have?
One guy has a Mac  --  if that the only person who has had a problem? Has he had the problem multiple times or only once? What e-mail client does he use?
on a given e-mail have you ever had some able to open the photo and others not?
To upgrade to 9.2.3 if you have an older Mac and got software restore disks with it use software update - it you have a newer Mac and get your software from the App store log into to the App store using the Apple ID you registered the computer with and look under purchased apps for updates - download and install from there
and again
IMHO the best solution is to quity using iPhoto to email photos and use Apple mail - set it as teh iPhoto e-mail client in the iPhoto preferences

CAN ANYONE HELP??  I ALSO NEED TO KNOW WHICH/WHAT TO PICK FOR MY MAIL CLIENT. I'VE TRIED THREE DIFFERENT THINGS AND NONE OF THEM WORK!

Mail would be a good choice, unless you are using another email client, like Outlook. There is likely something wrong with the account setup in iPhoto. You may need to delete the account you set up and enter it again if you want to send with iPhoto instead of with Mail.
Give this a try to see what might be wrong: Drag a photo from iPhoto onto the Mail icon in the Dock. It will create a new message with the photo attached. If you click on the photo in Mail, it should show a popup menu to allow you to set the image size to send.
Check out some of the links in the More Like This section to the right. There might be some other suggestions.

  • Problem emailing photos from iPhoto after installing OS 10.5.1

Since installing Leopard I have had problems emailing photos from iPhoto. I can send from my laptop to another Mac without problem BUT when I try to email pix from iPhoto to a PC user or to post on my Google Group board it only sends the 'title' I gave it in iPhoto or the 'PC134567.JPG' the camera assigns it. I have tried exporting and attaching to emails but that doesnt work either .. at least not all the time. AND when I do send them from iPhoto to my office PC they arrive NOT as an attachment but are embedded in the email message .. seriously what the heck is going on and why is this not working the way it used to pre-OS 10.5.1? What changed? How can I make this work the way it used to?
Thanks for reading and hopefully solving my problem

Thank you again .. I got home and immediately tried the fix you suggested .. sent a 'test' email and it worked perfectly.

  • Since upgrading to mountain lion on my macbook pro, i cannot email photos from iphoto.

Since upgrading to mountain lion on my macbook pro, i cannot email photos from iphoto.
i can select the picture but when sending it, an error symbol appears.
    Any ideas ?

This doesn't work for me at all. I tried entering exactly the same information that I used to set up my regular email account and I'm still getting an error message. I even tried switching to using my gmail account and neither one worked. Then it got hung up and had to repair my database! I have a lot of photos on my Mac (thank goodness they're backed up) and I was really sweating it for a moment.
Apple is so easy until it's not. I find this to be really aggrevating and I'm irritated that it hasn't been fixed. In fact I did an online search and someone described this same problem in detail and it was exactly what was happening to me. Same error messages.
I'm frustrated that Apple keeps updating it's operating system and then we go through these glitches.
And while I'm at it, I have never had such a frustrating time using my login information as I have to get into this forum! Why do they make it so difficult? There's just something about the way it's worded that get's me messed up every time. Meanwhile, at least get iPhoto fixed!

  • IPhoto states server did not reply so I cannot email photos from iPhoto

I cannot email photos from iPhoto.  I checked the outgoing mail server and port and they are correct. When I try to email photos the message i'm getting is the server did not reply check your internet connection and try later.. but my internet connection is fine. Any suggestions? I have Yosemite 10.10.3 software installed.

Do you have two-step verification enabled  and are trying to mail from your iCloud account?
    Then check this solution:
If you had two-step verification enabled, you have to set up an app-specific password for iPhoto, if you want to use iPhoto as a Mail client.
    See the post below:
Re: I am using iPhoto version 9.6 and I can no longer get an email sent with a photo attached. I get an error message saying the email did not go through because the server did not reply. I can send the photo with Mail. Help!in response to Gary Kissler
This solution is for those of you using 2-step verification for your Apple ID and are using iCloud as the mail server that you are trying to mail photos with.
I too had this issue. The problem in my case occurred because I had setup 2-step authentication for my Apple ID. If you have done this then you will get the error message "the mail server did not recognize your email/password...". To solve the problem go to:
    https://appleid.apple.com
    Click "Manage Your Apple ID"
Verify your identity with the device you selected (if this step does not show up then you have not likely set up 2-step authentication and this is not your solution)
Click Password and Security in the left column
    Click Generate an app-specific password
Enter iPhoto as the name of the app
Copy the password and paste this into the password box in iPhoto where you would normally enter your apple ID (in the mail account section in iPhoto preferences).
    And...voila' (I hope)

  • How do I save an emailed photo to iPhoto

When I select the option to "Add to iPhoto" in Mail, nothing happens. Am I missing something?

FYI - I sent this message to jane5047:
I think I now understand the problem you are having. I did a test photo email and sure enough, when I selected the Add to iPhoto option under the Save that appears in the top of the Mail Message (the one beside Quick Look for an attachment), iPhoto did not open and the photo did not "Add to iPhoto".
The way that I got it to "Add to iPhoto" was to first left-click Quick Look. At the top of the Quick Look of the photo there is a button that says Open with Preview. Instead of left-clicking on this, I right-clicked on it and a menu appeared with the "Add to iPhoto" option here. I selected it from here, iPhoto opened and the photo added fine.
Not sure why the "Add to iPhoto" does not work from the Save menu in the email message in Mail but it does work from the Quick Look menu. At any rate, this is yet another option for saving emailed photos to iPhoto.

  • Can't save emailed photos to iPhoto

The computer is an iBook G3, 900 MHz, 40 GB hard drive running OS X v.10.4.11 with Mail 2 and iPhoto 2. This is a computer which I am trying to set up for a friend.
I recently posted a similar question in the iPhoto forum thinking the problem might be with version of iPhoto that originally shipped with the iBook, but to date have received no replies. I am now wondering if it's a Mail problem rather than an iPhoto problem.
If the computer receives an emailed photo, I get the "Save" button and if I click on it, I also get the "Add to iPhoto" option. However, if I select the "Add to iPhoto" option, nothing happens. The photo is not added to the iPhoto library.
There is also an external 120 GB FireWire external drive associated with this computer. My niece did the original installation on the boot drive, which I believe was just an erase and install from a retail Tiger disc. I had to restore the iLife applications from the Jaguar system disc. I then came across this KB article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2475
Thinking that was the problem, I took the external disk and did a fresh installation starting from the Jaguar system discs and then upgrading to Tiger and updating all the software. The external drive now has a full installation on it including OS 9.
Same thing--I cannot simply save a photo to iPhoto. I also noticed that if I go to Mail>Preferences>Fonts and Colors and set preferences for larger fonts, this also does not work. However, I am able to put the magnifier in the Mail tool bar and this does work to enlarge text. This is true for both the internal and external hard drive.
My friend is new to Macs and new to computers, so I would like to make Mail and iPhoto as simple as possible for him to use.
We're using a GMail IMAP account if that has any bearing.
    Thanks in advance!

I don't believe so--it's a fresh installation of the OS on both hard drives. I downloaded iStatPro and Maintidget on both drives and SMART Reporter and Smart Utility on the built in drive as well, but I wouldn't expect any of these to have anything to do with how mail works.
It's possible I somehow made some sort of an error when I set up Mail-- I followed the GMail instructions. Not sure where to look for something like this.
To be more specific about what I do, I click on the gray triangle to the right of "Save", and I get a drop down menu with the photos and the option of "Save to iPhoto" at the bottom of the list. I go down and click on the "Save to iPhoto" and nothing happens.
I know the iBook G3 is doing this because I was trying to show my friend how to add emailed photos to his iPhoto library and it just doesn't work.
I also have a different iBook G4 running Tiger, and with both iPhoto 6 and iPhoto 8, I can add emailed photos to iPhoto in this way.
I'm wondering if I need to find my friend a newer version of iPhoto--maybe iPhoto 5. I'm wondering if iPhoto 2 is the problem--maybe this feature doesn't work on it. That's why I tried my question on the iPhoto forum first, but so far no response, and also no response to some other questions about iPhoto 2.
Yes, I did repair permissions on both drives until there was nothing left to repair.
Thanks for the response--I am very puzzled by this.

  • Why when I email photos from iPhoto do they not show in my sent items in my mail ?

Why when I email photos from iPhoto using the share option does the email not show up in my sent items box in Mail. The emails are arriving ok but I do not have a record of the email being sent. Bit confused. I am new to my iMac .

If you are using the iPhoto email client there is no sent mail box
My suggestion is to set Mail as your email client and then you have everythin in Mail and have a sent mail box

  • How can I email photos from iphoto '11?

I am having trouble emailing photos from iphoto '11.  When I put the recipients address in, it disappears when I click "send" and I get some message about "key chain" and iphoto wants to use my confidential information????    What I ended up doing is dragging and dropping the photo into the email, but I don't want to have to do that all the time.  I just got this MacBook Pro and iphoto program so am experiencing a learning curve.  I must be doing something wrong.  Is it safe to "always allow" this "key chain" info?
    Thanks, you wonderful community.
    Sheila
Update!   I just tried this again by "allowing" for this one photo.  I'm not sure what I'm allowing, but the photo was sent this time.  Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Sheila

Sharing you are allowing the email to be sent.
Your SMTP has a password and it is confidential, if you do not agree it does not have access to that password.

  • Email Photos in iPhoto '11?

I've had almost every Apple since the IIe, including the original the IIe, the original Mac Portable and the Newton. I may not qualify as a pure evangelist, but I'm a darn good advocate.
This new version of iPhoto, even with the update today, has left me disheartened and disappointed.
One of the best features, until now, was the ability to choose multiple photos, select a size and and have them attach quickly into an email program. It was a big selling point to show Windows users how cumbersome emailing photos was for them.
I can accept the new card format but I cannot figure out why the photos have to be attached as a zip file. While zip files don't bother me all that much, many of my end users have no clue what a zip file is let alone how to get the photos out. In the old version, they displayed within the email and it was perfect for viewing multiple photos. Now, there are layers to actually get to the photos. Today's upgrade to allow better sizing is a marginal improvement at best.
In the next upgrade, please just bring back the ability to add them to an email as attachments.
    Or, is there a workaround?

Apple did right. But their biggest problem is that the new email feature doesn't accept the mail servers as they stand in your mail program.
I suspect - but this is just a wild guess - that iPhoto mixes up the login details for your separate mail accounts (for getting your mail from the incoming server) with the outgoing server login details. I have 6-7 different mail accounts that use the the same server login, the one for my main mail account.
This works, as ever, in Mail, and has never been any problem when transferring account details to iPhone. But iPhoto on the same computer...Shame on yourApple, Christmas and all...

  • How do I move emailed photos to iPhoto with Lion? I've lost the drop down option.Karen

How do I move emailed photos to iPhoto using Lion? I've lost the previous drop down option.
    Thank you, Karen

There are multiple ways. I am not at my Lion machine at the moment, so I am not sure I can remember them all, but here is one: Click on the "Details" button in the upper right corner of the message. If there are image attachments, the drop down menu should appear.
Or, try right click on the image. I think I saw "Add to iPhoto" in the contextual menu.

  • When I email photos from iPhoto.....

When I email photos from iPhoto (usuallly with some text as well) , the sent emails do not show up in the Sent file like they used to before updating to Lion.
I can cc myself but I would much prefer to see each email as a regular sent email with the recipient readily visible.
I send a lot photos to various people and find it annoying not to be able to see which photos I sent to whom unless I open each email addressed to me.
    Any suggestions?

    This is an iPhoto issue.
    In iPhoto menu
    iPhoto>Preferences>General-----> email photos using Mail.

  • Entered incorrect password to email photos from iPhoto, How can I enter correct password? Using Version 10.10.3

I entered an incorrect password when I was about to email photos from iPhoto. Message popped up saying Server does not recognize user name/password. Only option was to enter ok. How can I re enter correct password. Tried shutting computer down hoping it would prompt me to enter password again but the same message came up. I am using OS X Yosemite version 10.10.3

    iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Accounts ->
Delete and recreate your email settings.
Alternatively, use Apple's Mail for the job. It has Templates too - and more of them.

  • Why do i get the alert window when i try to email photos from iphoto?

Each time i try to email photos from iphoto i get a window with an exclamation mark over the iphoto logo.  I'm guessing that the email has not been sent but why?

Go to the photo that you're trying to email and double click on it.  If the resulting window has the exclamation mark that means that iPhoto has broken the file path/link to the original file.
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
iPhoto 8 (09) and earlier- run the options indicated
iPhoto 9 (11) and later- run  Option #4 to rebuild the database
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager (iPhoto 8 or earlier or IPhoto 11 and later) and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the
File ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 8 or earlier)
    or
Library ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 9 or later)
menu option to rebuild the library.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Emailing Photos from iPhoto 7.1.5

I just installed Snow Leopard. I always emailed photos from iPhoto without any problem. Now, when I click on MAIL, nothing happens.
    Can anyone help?

If I understand you correctly the photos upload, but Facebook won't show them to you, right? Then a few hours later they show up as expected? Sounds like an issue with either facebook or your Browser. I don't see what iPhoto has to do with it, really.
Have you tried emptying your browser cache?
