Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again.

Correct. it does not magially appear in other places. It will only be where you put it.

Correct as well. Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one.

What sort of card are you trying to add ? There have been a number of posts recently from people having debit cards declined, so I'm not sure if they are still accepted in the store - they are not listed on this page as being a valid payment method.
If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including spacing and format) as you have on your iTunes account, and you are currently in that country ? I am having an issue with an IBM site and it was suggested by customer service that I need to install version 3 of Firefox. I cannot find a site to do this.

I need to download a copy of FireFox 3.o to be able to post updates in an IBM repository. The current 4.0 version doesn't allow me to post or open files in this repository.

If you just need it for that one site, I believe a better option than replacing Firefox 4 is to install the portable version of Firefox 3 on your hard drive. You can use the portable version for the IBM site and Firefox 4 for other sites. You can get the portable version from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable - Firefox 3 is listed in the legacy versions section.
It is best not to use Firefox 3 for all browsing as it is no longer supported with security updates.

If the disk hardware is working properly but the directory on it is very badly scrambled, it might take as much as an hour, though less than half that amount of time is more common. But if the disk hardware is failing, Disk Utility won't be able to repair it at all, and it may keep trying for a very long time (hours) before giving up.

No cellular service at all in Long Beach CA (on mulitple phones), wrong year and time, and no way to contact customer service

Multiple phones (iphone 5s) are not receiving a cellular signal so I can't search internet, make calls or messages. Is service out in my area? It would be great if Verizon would send an email to customers when this happens, and to provide a phone number and internet/chat option. I hoped to get hints and information on the status. I've turned off the phone multiple times, and even driven many miles away w/ no luck connecting.

Version 5.5 was/is not part of the Cloud, so you could not have subscribed to that version
You install version 5.5 on a 2nd computer exactly the same way you did the 1st time... put the disc in the drive and enter your serial number when asked
Does your serial number show on your account page?

If you downloaded it on your computer's iTunes then it should be in the Books part of your library, if you downloaded it on an iOS device then it should be in the Music app on it. If it's not there, and you don't have a copy of it on your backup of your library, then you will need to try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download (audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store, which I believe is a requirement from audible.com who supply them) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
