Im getting the new 3Gs tomorrow, and im selling my factory unlocked iphone, but i was wondering how do i go about deleting everything on it, without deleting my itunes stuff, so when i sell it, its like a brand new phone, free memory etc..... Please dont tell me i have to unsync everthing individually, cos ive got loooads of stuff on there, is there any other option,

On the phone go to Setting > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.

Trial of another micro sim in factory unlocked iphone
I have established that i have a factory unlocked iphone but i just want to make sure and test another providers sim in my phone before i cancel my old contract. Is this easily done and if so will it change my phones settings even if i only try it to test out for a minute?

i probably shouldnt say this but,okay i just recently asked a question.about my factory unlocked iphone 3gs asking how to activate it. so i got too excited of aving it and couldnt wait for my tmobile sim card to come one more day. so i "hactivated" it (i know this voids all warrenty) and i jailbroke it just so i could use it as an ipod.it worked and i was syched.
BUTTT.... it asked me if i wanted to update the software to 5.1 and i was like " oh yes id love to" and it started downloading it and it was inrecovery mode the whole time .
when the download finished. i hit restore so i can put the software on the phone but the itunes had an error and the phone went glitchy and it does a rebooting loop. it shows the apple symbol with the slash through it for about 5 seconds and shuts off for a little bit (about another 5 seconds) and it starts up then loops the process. ive managed to turn the phone off but if i start it up it loops...what should i do? any help :/
Also it does not show up in my itunes because it is turning off to fast to detect.Discussion of hacked phones is prohibited on these forums. Sorry, you'll need to go elsewhere to get support for a j'broke iPhone.

I am using the iphone 4s in india now. i bought it from canada (factory unlocked). But here in india. when i put my vodafone sim in 4s. It only shows th name of the carrier but dont show the range towers. i tried airtel and reliance carriers also.but the result was same. now what can i do??

Once the iPhone 3GS is in DFU mode and plugged into iTunes, the restore and update process begins. The restores process are as followed:
Extracting software > Preparing iPhone for restore (blank screen) > Preparing iPhone software for restore > Restoring iPhone software > Verifying iPhone restore > Restoring iPhone firmware > The iPhone cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred (1).
I clicked on the more information tab and was taken to a website with some troubleshooting. I did what they suggested (based on the error #) and still no luck. I’ve tried to restore and update about 10 times now but the same message keeps coming up at the end. What should I do now?
P.S: I have the latest version of iTunes (11), my windows is up to date etc ...CDiiva wrote:

If the iPhone had the 4.0 Beta loaded on it, the iPhone needs to be registered with a developer for the iPhone to even function. If it's not registered and the beta is installed then it is a brick. Regardless of if it is registered or not, as Tamara said the iPhone 4.0 Beta has no support. The Beta is a beta and is for developers who are developing apps. That way they can release apps as soon as the OS 4.0 is released sometime this summer. You should get an error message saying something along the lines of this phone is not registered with a developer, if the iPhone is not registered.

If it is unlocked by the carrier then you just need to plug it into iTunes with a SIM card from a compatible carrier. If you get a message saying that the SIM is not from an authorized carrier, well then the iPhone is not unlocked, sorry.
If the iPhone is not unlocked you are really out of luck. While there are ways to hack an iPhone to unlock it, there are no methods for the 4.0 Beta to unlock the iPhone, and even if there is a way to hack it to unlock the iPhone 3GS on the 4.0 OS, it won't come for a long time. -

The Verizon iPhone 4s is a real World Phone...what you are wanting to do is have Verizon service and use GSM networks while in the US...or at least that what it sounds like since you state that you are having trouble using another U.S. carrier's sim card on your phone. You can't do that. But when you are overseas you can use a local carrier's simcard there if you have the Verizon sim unlocked. As far as the Apple unlocked device that can't be used with Verizon...it makes sense because that device is natively a GMS device...so it will work unlocked on other GSM networks but not on VZW's CDMA. In general, it has always been my understanding that unlocked devices (not just sim's) are for use n GSM networks and not CDMA's. -

Do I have to use the apple's fast lane to resolve the issue or is it something that can be resolved quickly using the ITunes or combination of power and home key please advice...From where did you purchase the iPhone? Are you certain it really was factory unlocked? I can't say that an iOS update couldn't inadvertently lock an iPhone, but more commonly it would happen with a jailbroken iPhone. If by "from Irvine" you mean Irvine, California, then you don't have a factory-unlocked iPhone unless you purchased it from another country, as there are no unlocked iPhones sold through any authorized reseller in the US.

i just baught my first iphone and it is a jalbroken and factory unlocked version of an iphone 4 running ios 6.0.1. I dont like the fact that this phone might potentially be illegal with the "jailbreak" so ive been trying to restore it back to the factory unlocked settings, but every time i do i get error codes. when it the phone is running normally i get an error code 21 and when i try to run it in recovery or DFU mode i get either a 1601, 1602 or 1604 error code. please help!
