I am trying to connect my ipod classic to a tv (sony bravia 1080p) and have tried many cables including the Apple composite AV cable with the 30 pin connector on one end and three RCA connectors on the other.  Audio works but video does not.  The ipod classic screen says to connect to device when it is already connected. No success.  Any thoughts?

  • TS1398 I am trying to connect an IPod Touch to a Verizon MiFi at home.  I have connected a computer, Nooks, and a tablet to this WiFi with a password and the IPod says it is unable to join.  Help!

I am trying to connect an IPod Touch to my Verizon MiFi Hotspot.  It has a password.  I have set up a computer, a tablet, and 2 nooks to this MiFi but can't get the IPod to connect to any network that has a password. Please help!

There are other things to try.
Turn WiFi off on the iPad, restart it and then turn WiFi on again.
Reset the network settings on the iPad. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings, that makes you have to start all over again.

  • Connecting multiple ipods to one computer

Is it possible to connect more than one ipod to a single computer without wiping the contents each time?
Tried this before and lost all downloads.

If you don't have the songs in iTunes, and you want to keep them on the iPod, you need to stop the auto-sync:
To connect the iPod without iTunes doing the auto-sync.
    1. Hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys while connecting the iPod to your computer. Don't let go of Shift+Ctrl.
    2. If iTunes doesn't automatically open after connecting the iPod, open iTunes. Don't let go of Shift+Ctrl.
    3. Wait until the iPod comes up in the Source list under DEVICES (it may take awhile, but don't let go of Shift+Ctrl)
    4. For iTunes 7, under the Summary tab, scroll down and check "Manually manage music and videos."
    Using "Manually manage":
To add new music to the iPod, you will now have to drag those onto the iPod from the iTunes music list.
After a song is on the iPod (to confirm, eject the iPod and listen to the song), you can now delete it from iTunes.

    Hi there!
The password it is likely asking for is your device password -- what you have to enter in order to unlock your BB. Try that and see if it works.

Try force rebooting it, hold down the power and home button for 10 seconds until the apple boot logo comes up. If that doesn't work, try rebooting your computer.

No.  You can only track it if you had setup the FindMyiPhone feature and some other constraints.

  • Connecting old iPod to new computer

My previous computer was ruined by a power surge and it wasn't fixable. I no longer have it but I have my iPod with 5000+ songs on it (200+ I downloaded off iTunes). I don't want to lose whats on my iPod but I have a new computer and want to hook up to it and start downloading and managing my iPod again. Do I have any options?

If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. If it is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing Your Songs Manually
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer.
If you want to copy your songs from your iPod there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
There's a command in iTunes 7 under File, "Transfer Purchases from iPod" you can check out. A paragraph on it has also been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.
