The screen on my ipod touch has a pic with the plug pointed to the itunes logo and it is frozen. The computer will not recognize the ipod anymore. I had updated the itunes to the latest version and the it was in the process of updating software in the ipod. It said that the download could not be completed. This is a new ipod touch.

Hmm.. I just checked again trying to put my Nano onto my girlfriends G5. It actually doesn't always show up. At first it didn't and then as I fiddled around with the setting (not changing anything generally) it came on. Hmm.... And then before I could look at it in itunes it went off. Said "Device Removal blah blah blah". Hmm... Then I couldn't get it on again. itunes actually wasn't responding and the ball kept spinning. Then I restarted itunes but it wouldn't come on. Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).

just doublechecking something. is the download hanging at the initial phase of proceedings? or is this happening after the installation has actually pretty much completed?
if it's at the later stage of proceedings, are you getting a sort of "brief flash of a license screen? or is something else a little different happening?

If you are not able to download or install iTunes due to insufficient priviliges, make sure that you are logged into your computer as an administrator:
Make sure you have an administrator account.
