Im using dlink DSL-G624T. HOW CAN I CONFIGURATE  TIME CAPSULE FOR IT?

im using DLINK DSL-G624T. how can i configurate it for a time capsule ?

You can't back up to a router.
Your hardware shows a Time Capsule.  If that's what you want to back up to, see #Q1 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule.
If you have another Mac running Leopard or above on the same local network, you can back up to a shared drive on it over your network.  See #22 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions for setup instructions.
If that's not what you're trying to do, see #2 in that article for supported destinations.

  • How can I automount Time Capsul

I have a Time Capsule on my home network that I use, not only for backups (Time Machine on Mac and Norton 360 on PC), but also to store all my media.
I have setup iTunes on my iMac and both my PCs to access the media on the Time Capsule. This works really well. I have no issues at all with my PC's access to the Time Capsule the problem is with my iMac.
On my iMac the only way I can ensure that iTunes can access the media on the Time Capsule is to first open a Finder window and browse the directory tree to my media folder. After I have done this once there is no issue, but if it is not done (for example my wife plugging her iPhone in to synch just after logging in) iTunes says all of the media on the Time Capsule is in accessible. To remedy this I have to then exit iTunes, do the Finder thing and then restart iTunes.
I guess the issue is caused by the iMac not automatically mounting the Time Capsule disk. If this is the case, is there any way that I can configure my iMac to automount the drive so I don't need to open it in Finder before I access it with anything else?
    TIA
    Grant.

    Hi,
Just found this on another forum. It worked for me.
Yeah, that's actually really easy. Time Capsule runs a Samba server and an AFS (Apple File Sharing) server in the background. You can connect to it using the "Connect to Server" feature in the Finder. I assume you've already used the Airport Setup Utility to configure your Time Capsule for file sharing. If not, do that first.
Then, use the Finder's "Connect to Server" feature:
Finder > Go > Connect to Server
Next, enter the address of your Time Capsule's AFS server in this format:
    afs://192.168.1.1
When you click "connect" it will prompt you for a username and password. Use the login information that you entered when you set up your Time Capsule. A finder window will appear, giving you access to the Time Capsule's disk.
Depending on which version of OS X you're running, it may or may not have put an icon on your desktop for the mounted disk. You can fix this by checking the "Connected Servers" checkbox in: Finder > Preferences > General
To make it mount the disk automatically every time you log in, add a login item to your account. Go to:
    System Preferences > Accounts
Click on your user and select the "Login Items" tab. Click the plus sign to add a login item and choose the Time Capsule Volume you just mounted.

  • I used an ethernet cable between my iMac and Time Capsule for the initial backup.  Now that initial backup is concluded, can I simply unplug the Time Capsule from my computer?

I used an ethernet cable between my iMac and Time Capsule for the initial backup.  Now that initial backup is concluded, can I assume I can simply unplug the Time Capsule from my computer without any glitches and Time Capsule will then run wirelessly.  Is this assumption correct?

can I assume I can simply unplug the Time Capsule from my computer without any glitches and Time Capsule will then run wirelessly.  Is this assumption correct?
Yes, if the computer will be able to receive a strong wireless signal from the Time Capsule.
I did not disable wireless.  So I assume the backups are occurring both with the ethernet and wirelessly.
It is inot possible to have both an "active" Ethernet and "active" wireless signal simultaneously. If an Ethernet connection is established, your computer will default to the Ethernet connection. If the Ethernet cable is unplugged, the computer will revert to the wireless connection.
I also show 2 wireless networks available through Airport.  Shouldn't there only be one now?
You have a simultaneous dual band Time Capsule. That means that it will always be providing both a 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz network.
I named my new network the same name as the old network.  This enabled all of our devices to continue with their connection without entering the new network and/or passwords; however, I am afraid this may pose problems in the future somehow.  Any input on this issue as well?
Things should be fine. Devices will connect to the best signal.....either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz....based on their capabilties and location in relation to the Time Capsule.

  • How can I stop Time Capsule doing a full backup?

    Hi guys
I had to restore my work from a Time Capsule after having a new hard drive fitted. Now Time Machine has started to do a full ... and very, very slow backup!
Is there any way I can get out of this given that it has been at it 2 days already and has only backed up 32.78GB of 74.89GB?
Please can you helpful folks who have the answer reply in words of one syllable ... I'm no techie wizz kid (no sort of any kid really).

You can set the TC to join the campus wifi but I do not recommend that method. You make the TC available to everybody in the process.. and it will be super slow. All files to and from your TC, then go via the campus routers and wifi system.
You cannot have two independent wireless connections at the same time..
You can use ethernet to the TC.. this is fastest and best method.. keeps the TC totally isolated from the network.
Or you can use a USB wireless stick in the computer to join a second wireless network.. I recommend using 5ghz as it is much faster.

  • How can I make Time Capsule main source for music?

So as of right now my macbook pro has around 3gb of memory left. I bought a Time Capsule so i could store all of my music on it and clear up my macbook pro. I was wondering how i could set it up so the main source that itunes is getting my music from is the time Capsule. Thanks!

    Sorry, but definitely not recommended.
If you move your iTunes Media Folder to the Time Capsule disk, when....not if....the drive has a problem.....you have no backups for your data. You lose all of your music.
A much better (and much safer) plan would be to add a USB or Firewire drive to your computer and store your Media Folder there.
Then, Time Machine will backup both your computer and the hard drive with your music files.
Now, you have "originals" on one drive and backups on another. That kind of backup strategy makes sense.
Apple's Support Document on moving your iTunes Media Folder is below. Hope you decide to stay safe.

  • Can i use the computer while backing up with the time capsule for the first time? the

I would like to install the time capsule. Since it will take some hours to complete the task, do you know if, at the same time, I can work on the computer?
    Thank you.

Yes, work away.. it might slow down the backup but not significantly.. make sure you do that first backup by ethernet connection though.. it should take less than over night.. so really not that big a deal.

  • How to reconfigure a time capsule for additional computers

I have searched extensively, including this forum, for instructions on making space on my (1 TB) Time Capsule so I can backup a couple more computers.  Usually, the answer to how to free up space is "Why do you want to do that?  It deletes the old files automatically", my response is "So I can free up space to backup more computers."
The relevant responses to other askers of similar questions is to manually delete manuals, which can be dangerous as is noted, and wipe the disk and start again.  I did try the "delete all backups" of space-hog folders providing those folders are intact on the computer, which should then free some space, however, that did not work for me, no space was apparently freed even though the folders contained hundreds of gigabytes.
    To actually ask a question:
Is there some way to configure the Time Capsule to do any of the following?
    1) Use no more than XXX M/G-bytes of storage for backups.
    2) Delete backups older than XXX months/years.
Both of the above would be possible during a back-up and "immediately".  If I could do that, then I could easily make room on the device for the other computers.
If the answer is "Not possible", then I'd ask Apple if they have plans to add some management capability to address the needs of apparently quite a few owners.

1TB is not much if you have several computers.. each needs at least twice the currently used or potentially used GB plus about 20% free space to work in.
I am not sure but did you consider..
    1. Using USB drive.. plugged into the TC as new space for more computers.
    2. A disk transplant to something larger. It is fairly easy now to slip in a 2TB or even 3TB Green Drive. Depending on the age of the TC that can be a big boon.
When you delete files out of the sparsebundle.. the sparsebundle itself doesn't change size.. but will have free space inside it.. this is hard to see.
Look at the posts by Pondini about setting fixed size sparsebundle or recovering the space.
    Start from here. http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html
    Q3 and 4.

TM works more on the space available.. it will work until it fills it.. By being tricky and using the fixed size sparsebundle I think you can get around 1.
I doubt that TM will offer any more controls than it does.. they are already complex enough.
And it is not the date but the size that is key for your situation.

  • My computer was used by someone else how can i remove their information for mine

my computer was my wifes old one and her iphone information is on here so i cant connect mine how would i remove her information so i can start clean with my own

The right way to do that is to copy your iTunes Library - the one that you used to sync your iPhone - to your wife's old computer.
The way it works is that your computer's content is transferred to the iPhone. So you need to start with a computer that already contains the information that you want to transfer to the iPhone. Or, simply restore the iPhone and configure it as a new device.

  • I've bought a movie in iTunes using my iPod Touch, how can I download the movie for free in my iPad 2?

I've bought a movie, Casino Royale in HD, in iTunes on my iPod Touch using my apple account. I want to put it in my iPad 2 but when I connected to the iTunes using my iPad 2, I got this message: YOU'VE ALREADY PURCHASED THIS. DO YOU WANT TO BUY IT AGAIN?
    There's no download icon.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you very much!

Can you not sync your iPod with iTunes? That should get the movie onto your computer. Now sync your iPad and transfer the movie?

I Use Too Use A Redeem Card For My ITunes then I Used A Visa Card how Can I Click None Again For The Payment Style ?

On your computer's iTunes you should be able to edit your payment info by going into the Store > View Account menu option and logging into your account, and on your account's details page there should be a payment link.  If you are doing it on your iPhone then try tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store (Settings > Store on iOS 5 and below) and select 'View Apple ID' on the popup - that should also give you a payments link on your account's page.
    Changing payment info : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1918
If you don't get the 'none' option on the payment's screen then do you owe iTunes anything or have a pre-order or subscription due : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5366 ?

how can i rename time capsule?

I was frustrated too.  After reading a couple of other posts, I launched Airport Utility, selected my Time Capsule, and clicked Edit in the popup menu.  A dialog box dropped down, with five tabs at the top.  I clicked the Disks tab, and saw the dialog below.  In this dialog, I just retyped the name and clicked Update--I did NOT want to erase the disk!
I have Airport Utility version 6.1, OS X 10.7.  Hope this helps!
