If you mean a trade-in, Apple does not do that. See if your carrier does, or sell your current phone and buy a new one.

Besides setting the iTunes store to the US, you will also need
a credit card issued in the US with billing address in the US;
you also are supposed to be located in the US when using the
US store, and there are periodic software checks to verify that.
Simply changing the iTunes store to the US iTunes store will
not allow you to make purchases/download free apps without
meeting the other requirements. Do you meet them?

Originally I thought by copying items to library I would be making an exact copy of my originals and that would serve as a duplicate or backup copy. My originals are on my EHD#1 and my iPhoto library is on my EHD#2. But now I realize that I can not view my iPhoto library unless my EHD#2 is connected to my computer (duh!!) So now I would like to NOT copy times to library and I want to have the library in the Pictures folder on my laptop HD. So I guess my question is do I have to start completely over? Is there some way to salvage all the work I've done so far?

Yes you would have to start over from scratch.
But you should really think this through very carefully. Experienced users do not recommend iPhoto used in this mode, and with very good reasons. Among them
1. It's more work for exactly no gain
2. It's unreliable - especially - when the library is on one volume and the photos are on another. One change to the path between the files and the library and you'll be reconnecting every photo in the Library back to the database, one by one.

The blue background is the field highlighting that you have the option of turning off. If you don't see the purple bar on top with Highlight Fields toggle button, it should displayed by clicking the top icon (purplish) in the navigation pane on the left

Thats the problem I bought it from a very large thrift store. i went back asked the person where I bought the computer he said we can not give you the password. I thought buying it there was a good idea because not only was it a nice deal but it was like I was maknig a donation. I know that i messed up because i do not have the installation disk. If you forgot (or don't know) your passcode, restore the device from backup on the last computer it was synced with when the passcode was turned on... this will remove the passcode. If you do not have access to the last computer it was synced with, or you don't have a backup, you will have to force it into recovery mode & restore as a new device.

Did you have Photo Stream enabled on the phone?
If so, you can recover photos from the last 30 days.
If not then they are gone unless you recover your phone.

Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Displays. Take the resolution ratios and use a 16x9 ratio to avoid the letterboxing if you have a 17" diagonal display. Take the 4:3 ratios if you have a 15" diagonal screen.
