IMA 4:1 export bug with QT 7.6.6

Hello everyone, I'm currently converting 48kHz 16bits audio files into IMA 4:1 for iPhone App compatibility.
Well sometimes export doesn't work and i've got an unknown error -2147023174.
I've almost solved the problem by reducing or adding some silence in the audio file.
I think it's not a problem of length because i've already export some 500 miliseconds file without problem.
Anyone have already experienced this problem ?
Thanks in advance

I have the same problem. I think I have all the recommended power requirements (not sure about the video card - not sure how to find that out), but I would love to be able to watch my videos. I have issues with other videos being a little choppy as well (may be just HD, I haven't paid that much attention). I too would be grateful for a solution!

• OMF Export bug with P2 media

Try the following:
Create a sequence with P2 clips.
Nest the seqence into a new sequence.
Add some edits to the nested sequence.
Export as OMF.
Import the OMF into an audio editing suite like Nuendo or Cubase or Protools.
All audio clips have the wrong or simply no content.
Big bug! Needs to be fixed.
If you export a sequence with P2 files that isn't nested everything is OK in the OMF. Only if you use P2 in nested seqences every P2 clip in the OMF is garbage.
Regards

Well,
it is a bug to me, not a feature request. Because with that behaviour multicam edits with P2 material simply are not possible.
Could someone confirm this bug?
Thank you.

• Workaround for ]] XML export bug with schema?

Hi,
It is a known issue that the ]]> sequence will not export properly to XML. If you are using a DTD, there is an entity-based workaround that is described here:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3774389
The question... is there a workaround when using schema? I'm unable to figure it out.
Thanks,
Russ

Hi Lynne,
Thanks again for the thoughts. And by the way, I sympathize with your implicit complaint about how these forums work with respect to revised messages. I am accustomed to hitting Ctrl+S all the time, probably from my FM experience Unfortunately, if you accidentally do it in the forum webpage, it submits the message. The system really needs to send revisions when they occur, because some people might just read the original email and think that's it.
Anyway, I'm intrigued by some things you said. #1 is possible but not preferable, as schema was specifically chosen for the ability to validate attribute values. My level of attribute-based conditionalization is fairly heavy and the schema makes sure that an invalid value cannot be entered. I seem to remember back in the outset that a DTD couldn't do the level of validation I like, but I don't remember the exact reasoning. Note that I frequently assign lots of values to an attribute, tokenized with whitespace as customary.
#3 is what I'm doing now, except with the fancy coverup tricks with spacing and back-end XSLT. I like your ideas.
#4 is actually pure genious and it is the route I think I will go. Something you didn't know yet is that I have a script that automatically formats an XML instance like an XML editor does, incidentally by wrapping <ph> elements and setting color-formatting attributes. Thanks to ExtendScript, I was able to use regular expressions to parse out all the individual components and then create a "map" for the subsequent wrapping/formatting activities. It is quite lovely and gives me the best looking XML instances in town, with a click. Bragging aside, it would be elementary to modify that script slightly to insert another <ph> element as you suggest. Elegant and simple, but I would have never thought of that myself.
Many thanks again,
Russ

• CS4 6.0 pdf export bug with long tables and graphics

I discovered this bug in the CS4 trial, can anyone confirm that:
1. start a new document having at least two pages
2. insert one table spanning over both pages, having at least one headline
3. insert some graphic into the headline
4. right click the graphics element / anchored object / options
5. set position to user defined
6. check that the object is in the printable area of all pages
7. export this into a pdf
8. notice the graphics object is present on the first page ONLY while in the indd file it is correctly repeated on ALL pages!
I think that is a true bug, is it?

I believe that it is indeed a bug. I've seen it reported here before, if memory serves.

• Export bug with Macbook Air

Hi
I have a export problem that I cant find a fix for.
Everytime i export a video in FCPX, doesnt matter what I pick, the exported video glitches between two frames, going back and forth. I have tried all the export options. I also have tried to re-install FCPX with no luck. Please help.
I have latest MBA 13" with OS X 10.7.2 and latest FCP X

It´s .mov files and it was shot with a Canon 5D Mark II. It has not been converted - straigth into FCPX.
The thing is though, it worked perfectly fine before Apple lanunched an update (not the latest one, but the one before that). So after I updated it, everything went balistic.

• Export to Quicktime bug with embedded movies

Hi
I'm having an annoying problem when having Quicktime movies inserted in slides, then recording a slideshow and exporting it to Quicktime. I do the following:
1) Create a new slideshow
1) Insert movie into first slide
2) Create another slide
3) Insert copy and paste movie into this slide as well and add some animated object (i.e. a shape with a motion path)
4) Record slideshow so that the animated object appears while the movie still plays
5) Export recorded slideshow to Quicktime
*What happens when viewing the recorded slideshow:* Start of the presentation. The movie on the first slide starts playing immediately without clicking. *1st CLICK*. Second slide shows up. The movie on the second slide starts playing without clicking as well. *2nd CLICK.* The animated object is triggered, the movie and the animation play simultaneously.
*What happens when viewing the exported movie:* The exported movie seems to ignore some of the recorded settings. Slideshow starts, the movie doesn't play. *1st CLICK.* The movie starts playing (when actually it was supposed to advance from slide 1 to slide 2). *2nd CLICK.* The presentation advanced from slide 1 to slide 2.
It seems as if the export does not interpret all the settings the same way the direct presentation does, which is quite annoying as you don't get the same result in the exported movie you see on the screen.
Workaround: Go to the "QuickTime inspector" button in the inspector window, select the movie, check the option "Start movie on click". Then, go to the "Build inspector", hit the "More Options" button. The movie object now appears in the list. Select it and select "Automatically after transition" in the lower "Start build" part of the inspector. This way, the movie will start playing also in the exported movie.
Still there is another problem now.
*What happens now when viewing the exported movie with workaround:* Slideshow starts, the plays. *1st CLICK.* The presentation advanced from slide 1 to slide 2. The movie on the second slide starts playing without clicking as well! YAY! *2nd CLICK.* The animated object is triggered, the animation plays but the movie stops as soon as the animation is triggered.
So, instead of playing animation and movie simultaneously as in the normal recorded slideshow on screen, in the exported movie, the movie stops the moment the animation is triggered.
It seems as if the "Play Slideshow" and "Export to Quicktime" have different timelines, or different parameters the two modes evaluate.
This happened in iWork '08 and also happens in iWork '09. It's quite annoying. For me it's clearly a bug that should be fixed and is worth fixing. Please Apple, fix this bug.
I also noticed a tremendous amount of crashes while using the export to Quicktime function. While I was trying Keynote in iWork '09 I exported several times to Quicktime and had several crashes just by using this function.

Hi all.
I do exactly have the same problem since Keynote 4.0 and was hoping that it's solved in Keynote 5.0.
As soon as I try to export a previously recorded slideshow, (that has a quicktime-movie embeded on one slide) and one or two little textanimations on it. The embeded movie stops playing when the first animation starts in the exported quicktimemovie. When I view my recorded presentation, everything looks fine.
I do also believe, that the Quicktime-Export-Function does not work correctly because of timeline differences or so.
I would really appreciate a fix, specially becaused I upgraded in the hope that this should have been solved since around 10 months now....
Too bad.
P.S. As a workaround I am currently using also screenflow to record a recorded keynotepresentation to finally receive a movie. But that is kind of awkward too....

• 30EA3: German language bug with user defined reports still not fixed

In 30EA2: Limited folder functionality with German language
I wrote about a bug in 30EA2. Was this message noticed by the developers?
The bug still exists in 30EA3.
In new folders for user definded reports only the options "Kopieren" and "Exportieren" (copy and export) are available, when SQL-Deverloper runs in German language mode.
A workaround is to force language to English with the line
AddVMOption -Duser.language=en
in sqldeveloper.conf

I made a new thread for the same bug in 3.1EA2:
3.1EA2 Old bug with German language settings still exists
I have some hope, that my problem finally got noticed by the developers.

• MAJOR EDL Export BUG in 8.2!

I just upgraded to version 8.2 and now there is a major bug when exporting EDLs with audio clips! EDLs (cmx3600 format) should only export Timecode In/Out for Source & Record. The latest 8.2 version is now incorrectly outputting SAMPLE FORMAT for EDLS for any audio clips! This is a major bug and potentially show-stopping.
What 8.2 is exporting:
What it used to (and should continue to) export before 8.2:

with my PP 8.2.0 (65) Build, I get the same error with edl WAV audio clips until I 'link' video clip with audio clip below on the timeline
I believe after linking the video clip to the audio clip (below on the timeline), then exporting the edl, the timecode format displays properly
However, my edl export ability still needs work, because I would think my video timecode needs to match my audio timecode (for linked clips) so I am still working on importing the edl into Speedgrade and 'hearing' the audio
I was getting the same error audio text file as AjentJJ30, until I 'linked' video with audio,
so far my edl text file appears as below

EDIT: as you can see my WAV file does not show the proper clip name, as well as not displaying the .wav file extension.
I chase after the edl displaying proper WAV data, but could not achieve any solid results. My dng video clips from the bmpcc have wav files, normally they do not import into Speedgrade with the dng sequence, so using the video clips to test the edl process isn't very helpful.
I can not get results to support having the WAV edl data working when importing into SpeedGrade.
Sorry to think otherwise.

• Statement terminator problems when exporting data with SQL Developer 3.2

I've ran across what appears to be a bug with SQL Developer 3.2.20.09. If someone can let me know if this is indeed a bug, or just something I need to configure differently, please let me know.
The problem is related to exporting a database as a SQL script, and terminator characters at the end of "create" statements, especially when columns have comments, and problems that occur when using SQLPlus to run the export script to create the tables. With the old SQL Developer 1.5.4, with the "Terminator" and "Pretty Print" options checked, statements like the following are generated:
-- DDL for Type NUM_ARRAY
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE "NUM_ARRAY"
IS TABLE OF NUMBER(20)
-- DDL for Sequence MYTABLE_SEQ
CREATE SEQUENCE "MYTABLE_SEQ" MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999 INCREMENT BY 1 START WITH 1 CACHE 20 NOORDER NOCYCLE ;
-- DDL for Table MYTABLE
CREATE TABLE "MYTABLE"
( "MYTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
"COL2" NUMBER,
"COL3" NUMBER
-- DDL for Table ANOTHERTABLE
CREATE TABLE "ANOTHERTABLE"
( "ANOTHERTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
"COL2" VARCHAR2(1024),
"COL3" VARCHAR2(1024)
COMMENT ON COLUMN "ANOTHERTABLE"."ANOTHERTABLE_ID" IS 'This is a comment.';
When I then run the script using SQLPlus, everything works fine. However, with SQL Developer 3.2.20.09, with the same options enabled, the same statements are generated like this:
-- DDL for Type NUM_ARRAY
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE "NUM_ARRAY"
IS TABLE OF NUMBER(20)
-- DDL for Sequence MYTABLE_SEQ
CREATE SEQUENCE "MYTABLE_SEQ" MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999 INCREMENT BY 1 START WITH 1 CACHE 20 NOORDER NOCYCLE ;
-- DDL for Table MYTABLE
CREATE TABLE "MYTABLE"
( "MYTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
"COL2" NUMBER,
"COL3" NUMBER
-- DDL for Table ANOTHERTABLE
CREATE TABLE "ANOTHERTABLE"
( "ANOTHERTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
"COL2" VARCHAR2(1024),
"COL3" VARCHAR2(1024)
COMMENT ON COLUMN "ANOTHERTABLE"."ANOTHERTABLE_ID" IS 'This is a comment.';
Notice all of the extra slashes in there. If a slash is not used as a statement terminator, SQLPlus treats slashes as a command to repeat the last SQL statement, which causes many errors about tables or sequences already existing. So, I tried removing the "Terminator" flag from the export options. This lead to statements that looked a bit more promising:
-- DDL for Type NUM_ARRAY
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE "NUM_ARRAY"
IS TABLE OF NUMBER(20)
-- DDL for Sequence MYTABLE_SEQ
CREATE SEQUENCE "MYTABLE_SEQ" MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999 INCREMENT BY 1 START WITH 1 CACHE 20 NOORDER NOCYCLE
-- DDL for Table MYTABLE
CREATE TABLE "MYTABLE"
( "MYTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
"COL2" NUMBER,
"COL3" NUMBER
-- DDL for Table ANOTHERTABLE
CREATE TABLE "ANOTHERTABLE"
( "ANOTHERTABLE_ID" NUMBER,
"COL2" VARCHAR2(1024),
"COL3" VARCHAR2(1024)
COMMENT ON COLUMN "ANOTHERTABLE"."ANOTHERTABLE_ID" IS 'This is a comment.'
The big problem, though, is in the statement for the table with a comment. Notice that there are two statements, but there is not a semicolon after either of them. This unfortunately causes the "COMMENT" statement to be appended to the "CREATE TABLE" statement before being executed, which causes the table to not be created (which causes even more errors later on when the script attempts to populate the table with data).
So, it would appear that this is a bug, but I'm not sure. Is there a way I can configure the export options to make SQL Developer export these statements like it used to in older versions?
Thanks,
-Bill

Leave the thread open. One of the developers for sql developer should be monitoring the forum and can provide more information.

• Indesign CS6 epub export bug

I am using Indesign CS6 to export a book to epub. Having problems with automatic numbers and bullets as well as spacing issues; however, I've made some adjustments and am getting a pretty decent epub. Here's the issue: When I convert my epub to Mobi using Calibre, I get double bullets and double numbers in my lists. I used this same process to create a Mobi file a few months ago in Indesign 5.5 with no problem. So I took one of my CS6 files, exported it to IDML, opened it in CS5.5 and exported to ePub. I then took that epub and converted it to Mobi using Calibre. No double bullets or numbers. So the issue is coming from Indesign CS6.
Anyone else had this issue. Any other ideas on how to get a clean Mobi file from CS6?

Thanks a million.

You should get the 8.0.1 update for InDesign CS6. It fixes several EPUB bugs including the "space before" problem and the "epub-ruby" (which is I believed intended for Japanese language.

• Yet another export issue with Aperture 3

Judging by a search of topics, there seem to be a myriad of problems associated with getting files out of Aperture, some of which represent occult setting issues, others which seem to be actual bugs. I've run into an issue which seems to defy categorization, and I'm not sure if it's me doing something wrong, or if it is actually yet another bug with this software. I've been an Aperture user since 1.0 and I have to say the current version I'm running (3.4.3) is by far the worst yet. Anyway, enough whining. Here are the issues:
I'm running Aperture on a 6 core Mac Pro with Lion 10.7.5. There are two thing happening.
1. Exporting JPEGs is INCREDIBLY slow - perhaps as long as 4 or 5 minutes for a 3MB file.
2. This is the one driving me batty right now. Tried exporting a batch of images as JPEGs at the 50% original size setting. The master files are large 16 bit TIFF images from Nikon D800 RAW files, post-processed in Nik HDR Efex Pro 2. They are 80-100MB in size. When I export the images to a file on my Desktop, it consistently exports 6- 10 KB thumbnails. I've checked and rechecked my export settings and can find nothing amiss there. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Could the view I'm working in have anything to do with this? I work 95% of the time in split view.
Thanks,
Russ

I agree that there re a lot of posts about exporting, but a very large number of them refer to the same thing, and it's not a bug, but rather a misunderstanding.
For instance:
Tried exporting a batch of images as JPEGs at the 50% original size setting.
Okay.
The master files are large 16 bit TIFF images from Nikon D800 RAW files, post-processed in Nik HDR Efex Pro 2
Not relevant.
They are 80-100MB in size.
Not relevant either.
Why?
Because size refers to the dimensions of the image. So a 1,000 x 1,000 pixel image exported at 50% will turn out as 500 x 500 pixels.
Were you expecting a jpeg between 40 and 50 MB? That's Jpeg quality or the amount of compression applied to the image. And as you're compressing a lossless format (tiff) to a lossy one, and one with an aggressive compression algorithm, he resulting Jpeg, even at high quality, will be much, much smaller, more likely in the 6 - 8 MB range.
That's the nature - and indeed the point - of Jpegs.
So, if you're getting 6 - 10 kb images, you're exporting at a very low Jepg Quality.
This may also explain why it's taking so long to export. Getting rid on 99.99% of the data and compressing into 10kb is always going to take time.

I have exported a slideshow with music before and never had problems with it. What can I do to fix the problem?
I use a pc windows 7

After much research, I discovered that iTunes can create a compatible .m4a file
in iTunes, highlight the Voice Memo you want to convert, then select Advanced...Create AAC Version.
This will convert the file and create a .m4a file of the same name.
Unfortunately, it is not in the same directory, and iTunes gives no feedback as to where it is.
Nor does it list it in the VoiceMemo playlist in iTunes.
I found it in iTunes\Music\Music\My iPod\Voice Memos\
My sincere thanks to Dan Tull of Adobe for giving me the clues I needed to sort this out.
He has also flagged a bug report so hopefully future versions of LR will handle this situation more gracefully.

• Motion export bug?

Got some strange thing when exporting from Motion. Exported a movie in ProRes 422 (HQ), but the result was just ProRes 422. Then I tried exporting with different options and found that it exports not with the select format of the options in the export window, but with the codec above the selectet one. So if I select ProRes (LT) there, i get (HQ), if I select just 422 I'll get PNG, which is the one above the ProRes ones.
Got this on our two installations, can someone check this and confirm, already searched the forum, but did'nt find anything, so that i can fill a bug report.

just had to mark my surprise. I had this problem with FCP and other apps. Especially when i click a clip in the project window in FCP and it renamed all the clips to the one i selected >__<

• Keyword exporting bug also impacts catalogs imported from PSE 6

Hi,
I haven't seen any mention of it, but the keyword exporting bug reported for catalogs imported from LR 1.x also impacts catalogs imported from Photoshop Elements 6. i.e. all Keywords imported from my PSE 6 catalog have "Include in export", "Export Containing Keywords", and "Export Synonyms" properties set to false.
I've reported the bug, but as it seems the same as described in KB 405074 (and more importantly, its fix works for formerly PSE catalogs as well!), I'm sure it will be fixed in the next update.

Thanks,

Hi Brian,
When I installed the trial for LR2 I was asked whether I wanted to upgrade my existing PSE6 catalog.
Screenshot of this can be found here: http://dawsons.id.au/temp/pse6-to-lr2-catalog.png
That's it. I haven't imported any keywords via any other method.
Thanks,
Matt
PS I'm impressed with the level of Lightroom team involvement in these forums. I've been a PSE user for at least 5 years and have never received feedback from that team re posts/support calls/feature request/bug reports. I've been a LR user for about two weeks and I've already had Tom and yourself reply to my posts. You've got to be happy with that!
