Repair permissions and restart your computer.  Also, check System Preferences/Printe & Fax.  Make sure your printer is listed.

My imac (running 10.8) won't recognize one (1) of my two (2) epson artisan 810 printers when I try to add it to my wifi in the "print and scan" utility.  The printer that won't connect was previously connected to a PC running Win7.  Could Bonjour have something to do with this?  Any suggestions on how to correct this would be most appreciated.

  • Help! My computer won't recognize my printer!

I'm a college student, and I have tons of papers and files that I need to print. However, my computer won't recognize my printer. It is working and set up, I plugged it into my roommate's computer (a PC) to see if maybe the USB cable was bad; that wasn't the case.
I've tried to manually add the printer, but I don't have any Printer folder whatsoever in Utilities. If I go into System & Preferences, Printers & Fax, and try to click on the Set Up Printers button, nothing happens. I'm at the end of my ropes. Please help!
Also, the .pdf files for a lecture that I need to print aren't working as well; they worked just fine on my roommate's computer, but when I open them with Preview on my iBook, it is just blank. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Please help me, ASAP! Any advice/anything is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    need more info:
what kind of printer is it?
do have the drivers for it?
do have the printer setup utility?
what version of the OS do you have?
if you have OSX at least, then :
if you can access the utilities folder, you should be able to find the Printer setup Utility. If you do not have that , the n you need to archive and install :
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
if you do have the Printer Setup Utility, then
open that up, it will open a window called " Printer List"
    click on " Add"
    - that will open a window called Printer Browser
    - if the printer is plugged in and powered on, you will see the printer name listed there.
    - select it , then click on " add " in the bottom right
    - if you do not see any printer listed in the printer browser, then try a different usb port and try again.
    - if you are able to add the printer, then try a test print, it should work with a default driver.

  • Computer won't recognize network printer - HP OJ Pro 8600

My computer and printer are both connected to the same wireless network, but my computer won't recognize the printer (using the host name, IP address, or otherwise).  It's maddening, because it worked when I first set it up a year ago and just recently stopped - I uninstalled and reinstalled everything.  My iPhone can pick up the printer and print wirelessly, but there's an issue when I try to connect my computer using the HP software.

Hi @petersaaron , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're having issues utilizing your printer from your computer. I would like to the help with that!
I would recommend starting with a power reset.   Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would then suggest downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Airport Utility cannot find my Airport.  It is nearby, no interference, and worked for about 9 months.  The Airport still provides wireless internet for the household, though it won't recognize the printer -- plugged in or wireless.

How can I get Airport Utility to find my Airport?  It is nearby, no interference, and worked for about 9 months.  The Airport still provides wireless internet for the household, though it won't recognize the printer -- plugged in or wireless.

Are you using the latest version (5.5.2) of the AirPort Utility to access the new 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)? Your tagline has it that you are running OS X 10.4.6. You would need at least 10.5.7 to run the utility. I assume that you are running the latest utility on another device ... correct?
When having difficulties accessing the AirPort thru the AirPort Utility, try the following, in order checking accessibility with the utility after each step:
o Check the local connection. If you are trying to access the AirPort wirelessly, make sure that you are connected to its wireless network before running the AirPort Utility to administer it. If you are still unable to access it with the utility, temporarily connect your computer directly using an Ethernet cable to one of the base station's LAN ports.
o Power cycle the base station. Remove the power adapter's plug from the power outlet, and then, wait 15 seconds before plugging it back in.
o Perform a "factory default" reset on the base station.

  • My new computer won't recognize my printer (HP4500 Officejet Wireless) in the wireless or wired mode

MY new computer won't recognize my printer in either the connected or wireless mode.  When I hit "search for printers" it finds my neighbors wireless printer 100 yards away, and another net, but not mine sitting right beside it.

    Hi,
Have you installed its software abd drivers on your computer yet ? Please use the CD which came with the printer. By the way, what is your Officejet 4500 ? It must be G510something.
    Regards.

Do I need to change a setting since I changed computers? I try to add songs from my music into my phone section and it will not go... Plus the playlists on my phone are not updated on my iTunes phone on my computer. Its like it never updated. What am I doing wrong??

Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.
When you sync to another it will delete the current content.
Make sure you have copied everything from your old computer to your new one first.

Just purchased a office jet 6500A Plus so that I can print from my iPhone and iPad. I can print form my iPhone but my iPad 2 tells me there is no air printer available.  Why does one device recognize the air printer but the other device does not?

I have the 6500A without plus and it is with a LAN cable connected with my Router.
First make sure you have the latest printer firmware installed.
Next restart the printer and the Router.
I had the same. Problem but it went away after rebooting the Router.

  • Can an Airport extend a wireless network and support a USB printer at the same time?

Can an Airport extend a wireless network and support a USB printer at the same time?

Yes, if the AirPort Express is extending the wireless signal produced by another Apple router. The Express cannot wirelessly extend a network produced by a non-Apple router.
In addition to extending the network and connecting a printer, AirPlay can also be enabled on the AirPort Express, with all services operating simultaneously.
Please note that only the print function will work if you connect an All-in-One type device to the USB port on the Express. Advanced features like copy, scan, mainentance, etc are not supported when an All-in-One device is connected to the USB port on an AirPort router.

  • IMac Mountain Lion (10.8.2) won't recognize USB to parallel cable

I have an iMac running Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and am wanting to connect a HP-6L Laserjet printer via a Sabrent USB-Parallel cable (which is supposed to be Mac compatible).  I have installed the Gutenprint 5.2.9 driver package.  I am also running Windows XP Pro in Parallels.  The HP appears to be installed on the iMac as I see it in System Preferences>Print & Scan.  In Windows, I see the HP as Ready in Printers & Faxes.  I have all Mac printers shared with Windows. In either Operating System, I can execute a print operation to the HP and the Mac OS print queue opens.  It then states either of two scenarios: 1)  the printer is off-line or 2) the Postscript print job cannot be completed.  As far as I know, the HP driver in Windows is using PCL, Not Postscript.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is tricky dick!  I have my HP-6L laserjet working with my iMac!  I am using a Sabrent USB to 36-pin parallel cable.  I downloaded the glutenprint 5.2.9 driver and installed it!  The laserjet is working flawlessly!

  • AirPort Extreme (MC340AM/A) won't recognize USB hard drive

    Hi,
It was working fine (at least that's what I believe) to one point, and then all of a sudden, AirPort utility won't recognize my external HD connected to USB port of my AirPort.
Just to eliminate possible confusion... drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and I had another one as well, sitting on my desk that's formatted as FAT32. Both of these drives were connecting fine to AirPort utility till last night. All of a sudden, absolutely nothing happens when I connect either one of these two and turn it on. AirPort Utility/Disks pane shows: NO DISKS FOUND.
I even replaced this USB cable just to eliminate this possibility, still nothing.
Could it be that my USB port just died? I have 14 days to return it and I'm on my second day, so I want to know before I run out of my return bonus.
    Thanks in advance!

OK, I just tried another external HD. This time it was LaCie 1Tb. As soon as I connected it, it was recognized by AirPort Extreme. What's puzzling is, that same thing happened with my SimpleTech 1Tb one last night. It was easily recognized by AE and then all of a sudden AE would never recognize it again.
At first, I though maybe these HDs are not supported by AE, but that's not the case. One is LaCie with Samsung HD103UJ drive inside purchased at Apple store, another one SimpleTech with WD inside, and other two are both super reliable Sygate HDs (never ever had any problems with them).
Hmm... I just disconnected LaCie one and tried SimpleTech one more time and it worked. AE can see it again. What's going on in here? Something is definitely not right.
Can't test this port through printer since I don't have one available at the moment.

  • Mac Pro won't recognize USB devices

    Hi all,
My Mac Pro does not seem to recognize cameras (Canon Vixia and GoPro White) or card readers (USB 2.0).  When I restart the computer, it recognizes the Vixia, but automatically opens iTunes, where it's not intuittive how to copy just the folder to an external hard drive.  Why is this?  Is there a fix?  I tried running the firmware update, but received an alert that the update was not compatible with my machine.
    I'm using a 3.7 GHZ Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 with 16 GB RAM, running OS 10.9.3.

I had a similar problem that arose because Apple over-rode the original USB drivers with a kernal extension.
UNloading the extension fixed my problems. Perhaps it will help you.
    In a terminal, type this:
    sudo kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBFTDI
If it solves your problem, keep in mind you'll have to do it after every reboot (a good use for command line history.)
If it doesn't, you can put it right back with this:
    sudo kextload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBFTDI
Hope that helps. I should also warn you that in my experience, 10.9.3's USB performance is terrible.
