Imac 2010 27inch endless problems in the last 24hrs
Hi guys, this is my first post and I am relatively new to the world of mac computers.
I have a 2010 27inch I3 imac. I installed 2 4GB ram sticks yesterday so it now has 12gb installed in total. Everything seemed fine after I installed them, checked to see if the imac was seeing them and yes it now says 12gb installed, was working fine and normal for about 30 mins, I clicked on paralles to see if my indows 7 would open, and then the problems started happening. It kept crashing, thinking something was wrong with windows or paralles, I tried to reinstall the mac os x again, this didn't go as planned, every time I tried to download the mac os it said try again later, instead I used the time machine to reinstall everything and the same issues keep occurring.
I have no idea what exactly the problem. Has this ram I installed done something terrible to my imac or is it something worse.
I am extremely frustrated. Please help
Hi, it wasn't crucial memory I bought and the only reason I didn't buy crucial was the iMac I have has Samsung sticks of ram so I purchased that brand. I have since taken the ram back out and everything seems to be working normal again.
I haven't updated the system to the latest software from apple as I have parallels 8 and it says I would have to spend another 80 euro to upgrade that for Yosemite to work with it hence I didn't upgrade but I don't understand why that might have an affect on how my system is running. I don't mind buying crucial ram but I am now fearful of buying any ram in case this becomes a continuing problem.
Since taking out the ram all my programs seem to be working and it hasn't crashed in the last 30 mins, which is a good sign but I am noticing that every minute or so maybe less, some of my folder icons and time machine icon periodically refresh or disappear for a few seconds and then return, I don't know why this is?

Hi All, I have question about the iMac operating system. I have the last updated. The problem when I manage the place of the folder windows they are all mixing up. I mean they not on the place where I left them. how to set they stay on the same place? I know there are different possibilities to set.
I tried but it not helped for me. What I can do? How and where can set this they stay on their place?

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

why is streaming to my sony TV slowing to .4 mbps from 8.ombps while watching a netflix movie? this has become a problem in the last 2 months. This also happens on another TV but not concurrently.. Is it a problem with "airport extreme" or with the IP service? Airport extreme software is up to date.

MichaelgfrommetFor what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

Problems after the last Apple Security Update with trackpad/mouse tapping/clicking

I do have a MacBook Pro 15 (early 2008), Mac OS X (10.6.8). The logic board was replaced a couple of years ago under Apple warranty (distorted video problem). I am planning to repalce it after the next apple update on the macbook pro line. Before someone asks, I am using Snow Leopard because I still have some programs that needs Rosetta. I did apply the last security update and after I did shutdown and restarted the computer last night, the trackpad/mouse (mighty mouse, usb mouse) is not working properly. I just cannot do the left click or tap on the trackpad. The mighty mouse works perfectly, except the clicking. The same for the trackpad (tapping). I manage to open a pdf file with some keyboard shortcuts. I can use the mouse/trackpad to scroll and zoom in/out the document. I can use the trackpad to rotate the document, etc. Pressing on the might Just can´t tap/clock on the document to select or open it.
I alread did the obvious thing: command-alt PR, start in safe mode, unplug the power/battery for a few minutes...
Did you have a similar problem with the last security update. Do you have any suggestions.

CarlosI have resolved the issue! As I mentioned, I am using a Logitech cordless optical mouse. I connected up my Apple keyboard & mouse and disconnected the Logitech. The problem no longer occurred with the Apple mouse.
I removed the batteries from the Logitech mouse and disconnected the USB receiver. Restarted the computer, reconnected the Logitech setup, disconnected the Apple stuff, and now it is working. -

I have an IBook PPC G4 with version 10.4.11. I am using Safari version 4.1.3. I haven't had any problems until the last few weeks. Safari unexpectedly quits on me at least 4 or 5 times a day. Does anyone know of a solution to my problem?

I synced my dad's iPhone 4 to my iMac. So my problem is the that whenever I go onto FaceTime on my iMac all of my dad's contacts on his iPhone 4 are on MY FaceTime on MY iMac! So I tried to delete a contact off my FaceTime on the iMac but then it deleted a contact off his iPhone aswell! PLEASE HELP!!
Yes, they maybe 2 separate devices, but you have only mentioned one iCloud account and this is the problem.

[SOLVED]Problems with the last networkmanager upgrade
Since the last networkmanager upgrade my host name gets changed automatically. This, of course, causes the whole gnome desktop to malfunction. Did anyone else experience this? Is it a bug or what?
P.S.
Forgot to mention that this problem doesn't occure after downgrading of the packages (nm and nm-applet). There are two possibilities:
* Something is wrong with the new version
* Something has changed in the configuration for the new version and it by default automatically changes the host name.

1) nuke the feature out like i did for changing hostname, which sucks and i don' t want to do it anymore
2) write a correct /etc/hosts
3) write a plugin for archlinux. right now networkmanager is using a generic plugin called keyfile.
best solution is to implement 3 and push it upstream, the ugliest is 1. patches welcomed

it seems that the standard is to map hostname to your active ipv4 and therefor is your problem. you need to start mysql after nm is connected.
P.S patch here. http://pkgbuild.com/~ioni/disable_etc_hosts.patch try it yourself. But i still think is wrong

I 'm operating CS5 on iMac 10.10.2.....Q.the last two or three times I have tried to use "Merge to HDR Pro" the aplication quits with no image...I have restarted the system which does not solve the problem.

Has anyone else had optical sound output problems since the last Apple software update?
I have just read an article about this problem and it seems that there is an issue with the last software update from Apple which has caused problems with the optical sound driver.
My optical output stopped working a couple of weeks back which would probably coincide with the last update that was installed. Still have a red light at the end of the cable but no sound is transmitted.here's a thread with a possible solution.

WIFI problem with the last time machine update
When Apple released the last update for time machine via "software update" I did that as I usually do on my macbook intel core 2 duo 1,83. It was like two months ago and I remeber there were some other updates together. After rebooting the machine I had no chance to connecting to my wifi anymore (using a NETGEAR router) and I went crazy trying to find the problem. In a forum somewhere on the web I found someone else having the same problem that was related to that "time Machine" update. The only solution (extreme) was to reinstalling the OS and, doing all the updates except for time machine
Yesterday Apple released the new 10.5.3 and without thinking about I did the update today ... and now it doesn't connect to wifi again.
Anyone experienced the same problem?
Anyone has a solution to that or just how to remove this time machine stuff?

The source is only pictures. Thousands of pictures for a stopmotion project. But as I said, it doesn't work neither with other minor projects
